Deleting an old e-mail account

I want to delete an old e-mail account from my iMac. Unfortunately, the only option I can find is to check or uncheck the "enable this account" box. Any way to completely delete an e-mail account from the mailboxes? Thanks!

Open Mail preferences and click on the Accounts icon in the toolbar. Select the account you want to delete in the list and click on the [-] button at the bottom of the list. Note that all the mail you have in that account will also be deleted. If you want to preserve any of it then create a new folder in your active mail account and then move all the mail from the old account into the new folder. Then delete the old account.

  • How do I delete an old e-mail account from my Apple ID?

When I purchased my iPad, I registered with an old y-mail account and a backup e-mail to my girlfriend's e-mail address, Now I have a g-mail account and need to delete the y-mail account and change the backup e-mail account. I cannot find information that will help me accomplish this.

    Try here...
I no longer have an email address that was also my Apple ID. Can I still use the email address as my Apple ID?
Apple recommends you change your Apple ID to your current, working email address. This will not create another Apple ID, it will only change it to your working email address. See Changing the name you use for your Apple ID if you'd like more information.
Note: @mac.com and @me.com Apple IDs can not be renamed.  If you no longer use the .mac or .me email address be sure to add your valid email address as an additional email address.

  • How do you delete an old e-mail account?

I have some apps on my mini IPad air that were purchased using an old e-mail account, which I have attempted to delete (thought I was successful); however, when I try to update specific apps, it will only let me log in using that old e-mail address.

Did you create a new separate account or did you just change your Apple ID.
Purchases are permanently linked to the Apple ID that made them. If you created a new ID and these apps were purchased with your old Apple ID then you will not be able to update them without entering the password for that account.
If you do not remember it then you will need to delete those apps and redownload/purchase them with your new Apple ID.

  • How do I delete an old g mail account

Had a previous BB and got a new Curve9320. Used Desktop software to back up and restore from old to new phone. The old phone has been wiped and returned to my former employer BUT my new has 2 personal email accounts but also a icon for my former work g mail. For the moment I have "hidden" the icon but I really would like to delete any reference to the email account from my new phone. How do I do that?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
As long as your work was not BES, then this will be pretty straight forward:
Launch the EMail Setup Wizard (wherever it is based on your BB OS)
    Go into Internet/Personal Accounts
When your integrated accounts are listed, select the one and delete it
On the other hand, if your work was BES, then doing the full backup/restore has now placed the same BES restrictions (IT Policy) that your old BB had onto your personal one...you can verify that via this:
KB30076 How to check for an IT Policy on a BlackBerry smartphone
If that's the case, then you'll need to start over to remove that:
Make sure you still have all you need backed up
    Conduct the ResetToFactory
KB31291 How to reset a BlackBerry smartphone to factory settings using BlackBerry Desktop Software
Now restore from the backup again, but this time do a selective restore of only those databases you need (e.g., contacts, calendar, etc.), especially avoiding any databases that have to do with Enterprise, IT Policy, etc.
    Good luck!

  • I need to change my iCloud e-mail to my new e-mail because my old e-mail account has been deleted and i haven't been using it for a while.

i need to change my iCloud e-mail to my new e-mail because my old e-mail account has been deleted and i haven't been using it for a while.
my new e-mail is my apple ID but my iCloud one wont change over.

If the old ID ("email address") is an earlier version of your current ID, try temporarily recreating the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I deleted an old work email account on my iPhone4 and it deleted all my contacts! How do I get them back?

The iPhone does not store ANY information on the SIM card. If they were truly on the SIM, re-import them from the SIM.
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Import SIM Contacts.

  • TS3988 Cannot unlink old e-mail account from iCloud

I am trying to update my iCloud e-mail address to reflect my new e-mail, however there is no way on my iPad to do this -- it refuses to take my old password and even though I have reset my password with Apple AND provided both my old and new e-mail addresses and entered all of the correct verification questions it persists in asking me for the password for my old e-mail account. This is an AMAZINGLY FRUSTRATING process Apple has set it -- it has virtually no comparison to any other security system online -- my bank, my brokerage account, my access to my health records are ALL SIGNIFICANTLY EASIER TO ACCESS and to manage security for. You guys HAVE to make this easier and more intuitive. It's 100% a broken system right now -- what's the point of having verification questions and asking for both old and new e-mail accounts if this does NOTHING but put you back in the same inescapable loop? For the amount of money you guys make off your devices and digital sales you'd think you could hire someone to solve issues like this gracefully. PLEASE help resolve this. I am highly technically literate...I cannot imagine what it might be like for your users who are less so.

This is the forum where you do not address apple, but help is provided by users like you. Surprise, I know.
Go back to appleid site and change your new apple id back to old one for one minute. That will trick Apple server into thinking that old id exists, allowing just enough time to delete account. Change it back when done and verify.

  • Old e-mail account keeps showing up when I reply to e-mail sent to active account

I deleted a hotmail e-mail account from my iPhone.  The reason that I deleted it was because sometimes when I replied to an e-mail sent to my aol or Time-Warner e-mail addresses (which were active on the phone), the e-mail would somehow show up to the recipient as having come from the old hotmail account.  Thus, when the other person replied, it went to the hotmail account instead of my aol or Time-Warner account.
Incredibly, even after I deleted the hotmail account from the phone, restarted it and did everything else that I could think of to be sure that it was gone, this still happens.  Here is an example:
    1.  I send an e-mail to a friend from my aol account.
    2.  The friend replies and I receive the e-mail in my aol account.
    3.  I reply back to the friend.  In the "from" box in the e-mail that my friend receives from me, it does not show the aol account, but instead the hotmail account.
    4.  When the friend replies, it goes to the hotmail account and not the account.
    5.  The only way that I become aware that the friend replied is by checking the hotmail account.
So the question is:  how do I get this to stop?

i already sign-out my account and sign in again but still when i update an app, wrong username will pop up..
"settings, itunes&app store, sign out username, re enter username"

  • How do I delete a corporate e-mail account?

How do I delete a corporate e-mail account?

What phone do you have?  Is it a company phone?  If it is, you may not be able to delete the account.
If it is your own phone, and you no longer need the company email, it should be a matter of finding the account list for the phone (Settings, Accounts - or Settings, Email - knowing which phone you have will help up give you more specific steps) and removing, deactivating, deleting the account.
If it's the Google account that is the backup and app connection for the phone, you may lose much of the functionality until you set up an alternate Gmail address/account.

And every now and then I would need to check it
I ended up ringing them up earlier and the person I spoke to said he couldn't find a solution to delete it.
I've decided I'm going to keep it and forward e-mails from Outlook to iCloud as I like iClouds other features such as notes, reminders, calendars, work etc...
    This is allowed, right? (forwarding)

  • How can i delete my old apple id account?

please someone can tell me,how delete my old apple id account?

You cannot delete an Apple ID; just remove any/all personal information and it'll fade into obscurity. Remember that anything you purchased at the app store will need that Apple ID and password to be updated.

How can I delete my old app store account from update on my IMac

All items that you download from the iTunes store are tied to the account that downloaded them, so only that account can download updates to its apps.
If you are referring to apps from the Mac App Store then you will be better off asking in the Using Mac App Store forum (this is the iTunes Store forum).

  • Can't delete or edit a Mail account that is unable to connect and it keeps notifying me

Can't delete or edit a Mail account that is unable to connect and it keeps notifying me and asking for password. Macbook Pro with Yosemite. If I highlight the account and go to Mailboxes, "Edit smart mailbox" is greyed out. Delete the mailbox is an option, but the mailbox just doesn't go away and no error message displayed. Tried Mail/Preferences/Accounts, highlighting account and using minus sign, it tells me the account is shared by other applications and gives me an option to go to Internet Accounts. At Internet Accounts, the only mail account showing is iCloud. Meanwhile, the pesky Mail icon is jumping around the bottom of my screen.
    Can anyone help?

Did you ever find a fix for this? Mine is doing exactly the same thing, even with 2.01 - I hoped that might fix it. I'd rather not have to reset and erase the whole phone.
