Deleting an unresponsive alias

Hi. Hope someone can help.
How can I delete a 'Burn'folder alias from PLACES in my sidebar? Icannot seem to even select it. It does not seem to cause any problems but I'd like it to be gone.

Unable to delete iCloud email alias

I am unable to delete my iCloud email Alias sucessfully.
I have 3 alias at the moment. Two of it is correct and I am going to use it. The third was created wrongly(named spelt wrongly) and I tried to delete it. The moment i click the delete button and re-confirmed at the prompt, nothing happen. If you close the Settings menu and go back to the main interface, the alias itself is not found when u compose an email.
BUT when you sign out of iCloud, the alias you have deleted will return. If you go back to the menu right after deleting the alias earlier on, there will be an error which always appears when i repeat it(report sent to apple everytime) stating internal inconsistency error or something like that.
Now if you untick the box for "send and receieve.." for that particular alias, yes the alias itself will disppear from the list of aliases when i compose a new mail.
BUT NOW there's another bug which comes with this - when i navigate to my iPhone's mail and compose a new mail(through iCloud, i had it enabled on my phone), the alias which i have deactivated just now still REMAINS and in fact i can even send email from it! So much for deactivation.
I find it ridiculous to pay for support through Express Lane Support for this which does not belong to me(not like its a phone, duh), so i hope apple is actually looking at this and find a fix for it.
And yes, i want my deleted alias to finally be deleted.
PS: Im using Windows 7. Issue occur on both Firefox and IE

I filed a bug report weeks ago with Apple about this issue with the iCloud Mail app crashing when one tries to delete an email alias. Apple has yesterday closed the ticket, telling me that the issue is not a bug but rather a "support" issue.
In the interest of moving toward a solution for all those affected by the issue, I hope that someone who has access to free Express Lane support will take the time to see what support will do about the problem. Free Express Lane support is available to anyone who has purchased Apple hardware in the last 90 days or who has current AppleCare coverage. If someone does contact Apple support regarding the issue, please report back here so that the rest of us can know whether support reps are able to fix an affected account.

How can I delete an old alias?

I'm getting lots of spam to an old MobileMe alias. I'd like to delete this alias, but I can't figure out how. It is not in the list of 5 aliases provided by icloud. I think with mobileme we had 6 aliases, and this alias must be the sixth.
Any help appreciated. This is getting me down.

Delete the web page where it is published.
If it is published to MobileMe, then you need to log into MobileMe and go to your iDisk or mount it on your desktop and then delete it from your Web/sites folder.
If you have published to a server, then you'll need to download Cyberduck, Filezilla or Transmit - all dedicated ftp programmes to connect with your host/server and then delete your old files from the server.
It really is not hard.

Deleted Desktop Icon - Alias icon no longer works!

Hello everybody I am a recent switcher and I can't express how much I love the switch. The widgets, Expose, ease of iPhoto, Garageband, iTunes, et cetera.
But until recently, just this morning, I deleted an Icon on my desktop (the World of Warcraft) and I the alias Icon, shortcut, in my dock no longer runs.
So after traveling the Macintosh HD/Users/Shared/Blizzard - I cannot find anything that resembles a .exe or boot up file!
I am new to the Mac and I know it isnt that unfamiliar to a PC, Windows. But I have got to ask ... What on earth do I DO?! Where do I go!?
Do I have to reinstall the game? There has got to be an easier way to fix this.

Congratulations upon making the switch!
If your dock icon no longer works, it most likely means that you deleted the application itself, not just an icon. [In that case you will need to dispose of the dock icon by simply pulling it out of the dock. Insert a new icon after reinstalling the application.] This means that you originally installed the WOW application to your desktop rather than to your Applications folder. In the Applications folder it would be less likely to be accidentally deleted (as you may have apparently done). It is ok, in the future, to install applications to your desktop - you can then simply move them into the Applications folder, just that simple.
However, you can further safeguard from repeating this mistake - after you now install WOW into your Applications folder (or move it after installing to your desktop), select (highlight) the new WOW application icon in that Applications folder, open the "File" pull-down to "Get Info," expand the "General" section so that you can see the "Locked" box, and check off that "Locked" box, which will prevent any further movement of the WOW application without the system's first requesting your password. As a general principle, any time your system's password is requested, you should be able to understand why before you enter it. Your system password is not a nuisance, but your system's lifeguard.

I created an icloud email address I no longer want to use. I see ways of creating a new alias but no way of deleting the first one that's labeled imap. Help!

No, your iTunes account is completely separate and does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud (or other services).
To create a new account and migrate your data to the new account, first save any photo stream photos that you want to keep that aren't already backed up by opening your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll. Also save any iWork documents you may be syncing with iCloud.
Then go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, and when prompted, choose Keep on My [iDevice]. Then sign in with a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom, which will require a separate non-Apple email that must be verified). Next, turn you iCloud data syncing back to On, and when prompted, choose Merge to upload your data to the new account. When you turn Mail to On, you will be prompted to choose your @icloud.com email address, which must be different than your old one.
Note: you can only create a limited number of iCloud accounts on a single iOS device, so you can only do this a limited number of times. (While this number isn't documented, I believe it's three.)

Use the id that I delete from mobileme alias

I have two apple id and one is MobileMe account and I delete one alias name for another apple id to do iCloud email ([email protected])
After I erase the alisa name , I use another apple as iCloud to apply an email and it said that someone already using the name .
But I was using the id and I just erase it , I don't know how long I can apply the id I used before ?

The only way is to wipe your iPad.

Deleting an email alias

Hi hope you can help,
In the last week i've been getting a lot of spam to the @me.com alias of my email. I've never used this email address having always had an @mac.com address and continued to use it after Mobile Me came out. I'm guessing this is some kind of automated spam as my email address is just a surname and initials so pretty easy to guess. Is it possible to delete the @me.com email address and keep my @mac.com address? I know I can set up a rule to divert it to junk( if I know some infoo about the sender or subject) but just deleting the alias would solve the problem more permanently.

@mac.com and @me.com are the same thing and as they are the ID for the account you can't delete either of them. You only other option would be to abandon the account altogether and start a new one - which of course will cause a lot of inconvenience, and you can't have a new @mac.com address, only an @me.com one.
As you've apparently never given out the @me.com address you can set up a rule to move all messages addressed to the @me.com address to the Junk folder:

Can't delete or fix alias of "Untitled CD"

There is an "Untitled CD" alias in my finder sidebar that won't go away. I've tried dragging it out of the finder sidebar, dragging it to the trash, control clicking it, and nothing works.
I think it started when I recently (two weeks ago) inserted a blank CD and then ejected it almost immediately.

Reinstating a Deleted Alias

This morning I inadvertantly deleted my email alias while futzing with my verizon configuration.
This was a big mistake as Verizon's system will not simply let you change it back. This was the alias that I use for my business. So my clients are getting emails rejected and wondering what the heck is going on. Furthermore it's printed on my business cards etc ...
So I did a couple of long sessions with support and was told by both the agent AND the supervisor that it would take 90 days for the old alias to be aged out of the system and that I could re-instate my old email alias after that.
Then I read in these forums that there was a 24-48 hour process that many of the agents didn't know about. Sure enough, I called back a third time and the agent was able to figure it out. Here's how he described it:
Alberto(12:09:48): Every company has protocols time frames or dead lines for certain processes, this particular process of re enabling the user name you mistakenly erased normally takes 90 days, why? because once it is assigned to you is your and contains your personal information, if deleted like you did, eve if it is accidentally, that personal information is put hiatus, and the name is non available until after 90 days, then becomes available again. I took a short cut by contacting a software technician, and since the erasing happened just recently, that is the reason why they were able to do so, why was this not done by any previous agent, I can not tell, I am just following procedures.

I how problems with delete/fix alias. Somehow, I am trying to delete or fix alias by clicking the icon it show a pop-up saying to click "delete alias" or "fix alias." When I click "delete alias", it wouldn't let me. When I click "fix alias" I could not find what I am looking for. I try clicking different icon, but is show a pop-up saying "it could not be found (error code-43). Can someone help out????

I can't delete an iCloud Mail-Alias.

I've created an Mail-Alias on icloud.com and can't delete this Alias on icloud.com although there is a button which should delete it. There is always a failure message which tells me that the Alias can't be deleted because there is a "Server Problem". After this message Mail crashes and I need to reload it.

I have just spoken to Apple Support using my Apple Care Express Lane service...
I too had the crashing issue when trying to delete a "capitalized" alias.
The lovely gentleman on the phone simply reset my iCloud Web Mail preferences from his side. This changed all my aliases to lower case, allowing me to delete them as I saw fit.
It seems to be a discrepancy with the iCloud Web Mail preferences pane and the back-end preferences file... The file stores ALL iCloud mail addresses in lower case, meaning when the Web Mail app sends a delete request for a capitalized alias, it fails - it must be case sensitive.
So, if you can get a request in to Apple Support (maybe via the Genius Desk) ask them to reset your iCloud Web Mail preferences.
I hope this helps.

I deleted a system object, before deleting its system alias. Could anyone tell me how to delete the system alias? I tried searching for the system alias in the System Landscape overview too. I did not find the system alias. If anyone has answer to this, please share with me. I will appreciate your help.

Hi Sunitha,
Goto system administration -> system configuration -> system landscape overview. All the system and their alias are available here. But removing the alias is not possible this way.
What I suggested will work. You must create the same system with the same name.

I Cloud keeps trying to set up an alias, i know nothing about. My incoming mail gets placed in the wrong folder instead of my I Cloud folder. I need to get rid of this alias. The contacts are in the correct folder. My incoming emails are not showing up in the correct folder.
