DELETING AN UNTITLED HD

I HAVE AN UNTITLED HD ON MY DESKTOP AND ALSO MY ORIGINAL HD TOO. THE UNTITLED ONE SEEMS TO BE A MIRROR IMAGE. HOW DO I GET RID OF THAT?

It doesn't matter what you did to the memory, a Mac with a PowerPC processor, which is what a "G5" is, is unable to running Lion. Before we will be able to help you, you must provide the correct information.

How do I delete accidental (untitled) boxes "On My Mac" column in iCal?
    Thanks

    Karen,
Do these (untitled) boxes contain calendar events? If so, they are really Calendars named "Untitled." You should name them by clicking on the word "Untitled" and entering the appropriate name for the calendar.
If the "Untitled" calendars do not contain events, use iCal>Edit>Delete after selecting the Untitled Calendar.

  • How to delete an untitled document on Pages?

When I first downloaded Pages, I opened it to get comfortable with it. When I was done, I tried exiting the software and it prompted me to either "delete", "cancel", or "save" the document, to which I clicked "delete". However, when I right-clicked on the Pages icon on the bottom line I realized the following
I have tried everything to get rid of that "Untitled" document. What should I do?

You deleted the document, it doesn't exist. What you are seeing is a list of recent files opened in Pages. Go to File > Open Recent &, at the bottom of the list, is "Clear Menu." Select that & it will also clear the list in the Dock icon.

  • AppleScript Deleting Calendar

    Hello everyone,
I have a quick question regarding AppleScript.
I got multiple calendars "Untitled 1" "Untitled 2" etc. this goes up to "Untitled 325".
I wanted to run a small Apple Script, which would remove those for me automatically.
For that I wrote this one:
    tell application "iCal" to activate
    repeat
              tell application "iCal"
                        if exists calendar "Untitled" then
                                  delete calendar "Untitled"
                        else
                                  delete calendar "Untitled"
                        end if
              end tell
    end repeat
The problem is, as you can see that it really just search for "Untitled" calendar names, it does not search for the others and won't delete them either. I tried then several way for example using a * after Untitled or a empty space then a * etc. I have also googled for a command which could help me but I was not successful.
It would be great, If anyone could tell me how to tell this Script to delete any calendar which start with "Untitled".
I'm looking forward for feedback! Thanks in advance.
    iPhoneRockets

I updated It but Its not working yet. Im happy for any help.
property this_text : "Afraid to type?"
    tell application "iCal"
      activate
display dialog "Enter some text" default answer "" buttons {"Cancel", "Continue"} default button 2
set the this_text to text returned of the result
set this_message to delete (every calendar whose name begins with {content:this_text, visible:true})
    end tell
    Thanks again

  • Help with muse - deleted pages appearing when published

    Hi there!
I published my website through Muse, then later in design mode deleted certain pages, and then re-published the website. Problem is, the old pages are still published, and appearing in search results and through links in my page.
Are you able to help please? Is there a setting I tick when publishing the site to avoid this?
    Thank you in advance
    Huey

Aside - Where are you Publishing to? Is it to the Adobe BC host?
Try a Export to HTML then look in that folder and see if the deleted xxxxx.html files are listed.
I just tested a site with 2 pages - Note .html files in exported folder >>
    Then I deleted the untitled-4.html - Re-exported -  and >>
Note - untitled has been deleted.

  • Where do deleted projects end up? PLEASE tell me that they are recoverable!

I just deleted an untitled project from Aperture 2.1 which contained 1700 duplicate images that another named project contained.
Deleting the untitled project ALSO deleted my named project along with ALL of my images, all of my edited images that I just spent a week editing. My named project is still in the contents of my Aperture library, but is empty except for two files - Album.implicitAlbum and Info.apfolder
Where do deleted projects end up? Someone please tell me that I am not screwed here.

I agree that backups are necessary, however there is a big difference in work flow between writers and photographers.
Writers (writing novels) usually aren't under as tight a deadline as photographers. I have to have my edited images uploaded to the wire service within a very short time after shooting them. Taking an hour or more to backup a 3TB Aperture library to a vault isn't an option until the images are edited and sent out whereas saving a text document takes no time. Maybe I need several smaller libraries but until Apple makes it easier to switch between libraries on the fly that is going to have to wait.
What I am trying to get an answer to is why this "untitled project", which was apparently created after my original titled project, (the images within were rated and edited just like the project I was working in), blew away my masters in the titled project when the untitled project was deleted. I didn't import them to the "untitled project". I didn't copy them to the "untitled project". I wasn't aware that the "untitled project" existed until I saw it and deleted it.
Additionally, where did the files go? They are not in the trash, there is no Aperture directory in the trash as has been the case in the past, and there is no sign of them anywhere.
    Anyone?

  • Untitled Group in iPhone Contacts

Help! 8 people in the London Apple Store and 4 Genius Bar sessions have not solved this! In addition I reset my iPhone ( on the recommendation of the "Genius" in the London Apple Store - 32 minutes later all was as before! ) and this morning I followed the routine of kevmalek where he suggests finding file v22.abcddb deleting it and then seeing the "phantom" untitled group in the Mac Book Pro's Address Book where it can be ( finally ) deleted. This did not work either! I deleted the file, secured empty trash ( to make sure it was gone ) and still this untitled group did not show up in the Mac Book Pro so that I could delete it ( forever ) and then synch the iphone so that it would disappear. Not only that, but the file v22.abcddb reappeared in the original location after it had been secure trash deleted and gone through the secure empty trash! Someone out there has to know how I can get rid of this untitled group forever! Help!

Excellent Allan - all has been resolved!
For anyone else out there with this problem I would add the following detail to Allan's very good routine - some of it's quite obvious but if you're new to some of this it might save a bit of head scratching!
    1) Make sure your Mac is connected to the mains ( so that power is always present and you don't lose power during this process ) and the iPhone has been synched. Keep the iPhone connected throughout this routine so that you can always access it in iTunes.
    2) After where Allan says....and navigate to the Address Book archive you exported previously, choose and click on open. This brings your perfect group of Contacts ( i.e. there's no and never was, any "untitled group" in your Mac Address Book - it was only in the iPhone ) that reside on your Mac, back from the desktop into a clean Address Book.
    3) Continue as Allan says: Under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes below the Advanced Section, select All Contacts ( so that you get all clean groups from the Mac into the iPhone, thus overriding and deleting the untitled group in the iPhone which you don't want ) for replace info on this iPhone. Select Apply and then Sync the Mac to the iPhone and all should be fine!
Once all is as it should be, disconnect the iPhone from the Mac. You can now move the Address Book on the Desktop into the Trash and then secure Empty Trash to clean everything up. Don't worry! All your Address Book on the Mac is new and safe and your Contacts in the iPhone are as they should be too!

  • Bootcamp 5.1.1 on Mac Pro Cylinder can't install Windows 8

    Hi,
I've gone through almost every discussion regarding the common issue "Windows coud not update the computer's boot configuration" but none is related to Bootcamp version 5.1.1 and latest Mac Pro cylinder.
I already tried the solution presented by Jarvil at this discussion: https://discussions.apple.com/message/23545780#23545780
Based on Jarvil's solution there is a very important thing that is not happening in my case, that is that I never get the option to boot from the "Windows" partition. I only have 3 options, 1) Macintosh HD 2) Recovery 3) EFI Boot.
By not having the option to boot from Windows partition I automatically deviate from Jarvil's solution.
So, I proceed with EFI boot, I reach the step where I have to select the partition and I pick the 4th partition and it says that Windows can't be installed in this partition so I delete/format it and proceed with installation and it goes all well until the very end where it's finishing the install that I get the message:
"Windows coud not update the computer's boot configuration".
I also tried skipping the install --> login into Mac OS X --> Disk Utility --> Delete partition --> Create ExFAT partition (tried FAT also) --> Reboot --> EFI Boot (Windows partition still not available) --> Format partition --> Proceed with install --> Same error again.
After the error, it reboots and then I get a blue screen (**** Windows blue screens) with a message:
    Recovery
Your PC Needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.
    File: \BCD
    Error code: 0x0000034
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer.
So I reboot holding Option key and now the partition Windows appears and if I boot from it I get the same blue screen with the recovery error. So I reboot again and login into OSX, go to Disk Utility and delete the "Untitled" partition and I recreate it using ExFAT but then it gets stuck "Preparing to partition disk".
    I'm attaching snapshots.
I really hope that someone from Apple support can provide a solution. Thank you very much in advance.
    Alejandro

It's not an Apple response but it is something which worked for me. This is an exerpt from a post I made on another site. It's a bit involved and you may think this should not be necessary (and you'd be right) but if you want to try it you're welcome. No guarantess.
Install Windows again just like you did before with Bootcamp (but you may have to remove any traces of it first).
So starting again with Bootcamp Assistant and with Macintosh using the whole disc again begin the process.
Allow Windows to be installed as normal.
When the BCD error box opens up DO NOT click on OK - immediately do a hard shutdown of the Mac by holding the power button. This is so the changes are not rolled back.
Start up the Mac again holding the Alt key and choose the USB EFI Boot option in the boot menu (it will be orange). At this point if you get a Windows blue screen error shutdown and take out the USB then restart the machine holding Alt and at the boot menu plug in the USB again and do the above.
At the installer's start screen press shift + F10 to get a command prompt.
    In the command prompt type
    diskpart and hit enter
    type
    list volume  and hit enter
Note the volume letters and numbers of all the volumes .  One should be an EFI partition of type FAT32 and it will have no drive letter.
    Now type
list volume and hit enter (note the letters and numbers of the displayed volumes) One will be your EFI partition of FAT32 type and it will have no letter, just a number.
    type
select volume X (where X is the number of your EFI partition) and hit enter
    type
    assign letter=B and enter
    type
    exit and enter
    type
bcdboot C:\Windows /l en-GB /s B: /f ALL   *** note the /l en-GB is for locality and language and will default to English US if not changed. Obviously you need to change to your own locale and language code***
press enter (after checking all spaces etc). You may also struggle to find the \ key on your keyboard, it may change position once in command prompt!.
After a few seconds it should report that the boot files were written. If it does that you can type in
wpeutil reboot and press enter at which point your Mac will reboot. Hold the Alt key and choose your new EFI Boot option and hopefully Windows will boot.
Obviously all of this can be a little daunting and should not be taken on lightly. Having said that Windows is not currently installing and you've got nothing to lose. You can always go back to what you have now (with TM backups of course, and maybe even without).
    Good luck

Currently I am using usb 6009 daq board for data acquisition in using simulink. I have created a model with taking analog input from data acquisition toolbox. Then when i want to run in external mode and try to connet to target, the following error is coming up:
Could not execute target data map file 'untitled_rtwin_win32\untitled_targ_data_map' or it does not exist. Stop the target, delete the untitled executable, rebuild the code, and try again. Note that execution of external mode requires the build directory to be present...
How can I solve this problem? For your info, I am using 32-bit matlab, version: 2012a

  • Iphoto won't print to Epson Photomate Delux

I can print to my Epson Photomate Delux using PREVIEW and from PHOTOSHOP, but NOT from iphoto. When I try to print from iphoto, the pics go on hold in the print box. I have tried to hit RESUME, but it just goes back on hold. One other thing, the pics that load from PS or PREVIEW show their names, but the ones that import from iphoto all say "untitled."
Why can't iphoto talk to my printer? It used to work (I haven't used the printer in several months). I've downloaded new drivers, restarted everything, blah, blah, blah...all to the same result. Any thoughts? I'm plugged in using a USB cable.
    Thanks

One more thing, if the queue is stalled with multiple pics from different programs (PS, PREVIERW, ihphoto) printing will begin again after I delete the "untitled" pics from iphoto.
    Thanks.

  • FCP 10.1.1 messed up my Events and Projects...

I just updated FCP all the way from 10.0.7 to 10.1.1, but I ran into some major issue that's messing with my workflow. When I launched the new FCP 10.1.1, it asked me if I want to upgrade my Events and Projects folders into a single Library, I clicked Upgrade and it got that done. Then I was asked whether I want to preserve the old Events and Projects, fortunately, I chose to preserve it, and it moved the two folders into a new one now called 'Old Macintosh HD (something etc.). Later when I was trying to use the new version of FCP, something went horribly wrong, and it crashed. I tried relaunching FCP again, this time however, instead of loading the new Library it just created in my Movies folder, it created a new Library in the same folder named Untitled.
So I tried dragging and dropping the older library that contained all my Events and Projects onto the FCP icon on they dock, and it immediately crashed. I then try deleting the 'Untitled' library in my Movies folder to see if FCP would recognise that older Library it created before. No luck it just created another Untitlted library and ignored my old library, tried dragging and dropping the old library, crashed again.
Fortunately I chose to preserve the old folder, and even if I didn't I still have Time Machine to restore them. So now I'm going to try to re-import all my Events from the 'Original Media' folder inside of each individual Event, and redo all the copying and transcoding, etc. That is not a big deal, the big problem is, however, the Projects. I can't figure out how to put my Projects back in place now that the Library is closed off an inaccessible (to the best of my current knowledge). And even if I can get those Projects inside the Library, I still have to relink it back to the media which I am now importing in as new events and thus making it very difficult for FCP to see that they are actually suppose to be connected.
It would be IMMENSELY helpful if anyone can help me with this I still have a pretty big project to finish and I need to finish it preferably in the next week or so since I won't have access to my iMac and editing on my 5+ year old MBP wouldn't be feasible as it doesn't have enough extra storage to hold my 40+GB of clips.

First, take a look at these free videos about the FCP X new library model.
From your description - moving folders around and renaming them - it's not clear what your situation is currently.
I think it would be useful if you would post a screen shot of your Finder window that includes the first library that FCP created when you updated.
You can navigate to that library in the application  by choosing File>Open Library>Other>Locate. When you do what happens?

  • Anyone having trouble with Preview?

I'm able to create in iBA, however when I try to preview it will load onto my iPad (eventually) but I can't open the preview on my tablet.  Anyone else find this issue?  Any solutions?

I was able to delete the untitled non-function book preview by entering list view (Bookshelf/Library) and choose Edit (top right). Radio buttons will appear on the left to select individual books to edit/delete. Unhappily, the button for the non-functioning title does not seem to work. BUT, I was able to Select All, un-check all books except the bad title and then the Delete function worked. Another discovery was to exit iBooks, relaunch, go to list view and keep my finger on the bad title (it must be highlighted) and after about 20 seconds, the Delete button appeared (and it worked).
But still, the non-functioning Preview function is a real drag. Very un-Apple. I look forward to a real, working solution.

  • Creating a common workspace under OS X

I thought this would be simple, but I'm having trouble coming up with an answer.
I have several people who will be using a single Mac to do their work, and they would like to have a way of sharing read/write access to certain files. I thought I could just tell them to save or copy the files in /Users/Shared but it seems this only makes the files readable to others. What I'd like is to have a directory where anything placed in that directory is automatically readable/writable by a group of accounts on the computer.
I thought this would be easy with Leopard's introduction of Groups under the Accounts System Preference and more granular control in Sharing, but so far I haven't found what seems like a "right" approach, even with chmod.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Thank you, that gets me close. However, when I tested your solution I found that it didn't quite work. I.e.
    1. Followed your instructions, except I named my group 'editing". I have two users in the group, named test1 and test2.
    2. With test2, created a new folder "untitled folder" under /Users/Shared/sharedstuff. Then also opened Textedit and saved a new file "untitled" into /Users/Shared/sharedstuff.
    3. As test1, I can now open and delete both "untitled folder" and "untitled". I can create new subfolders under "untitled folder". However, if I open "untitled", make changes, and try to save, I am told that I don't have permission.
Unless I am confusing myself somehow, it seems that the permissions are only being inherited to subdirectories, not to files. E.g.
    ls -le
    total 8
    -rw-r--r--@ 1 test2 staff 324 Nov 6 16:25 Untitled.rtf
    drwxr-xr-x+ 4 test2 wheel 136 Nov 6 16:17 untitled folder
    0: group:editing inherited allow list,addfile,search,delete,add_subdirectory,delete_child,chown,file_inherit,directoryinherit
I think in particular I want "add_file" and "add_subdirectory" to be inherited and translated to "write" and "append" for files in the sharedstuff folder. But it isn't happening. Can anyone confirm this? If so would it be accurate to call this a bug?
