Deleting Apple Support Communities Account?

Hi everyone,
I have searched the forums and Google and so far have come to the conclussion that it's not possbile on my end to delete a ASC account, but is possible on the backend some how?
I created a new account without realizing my friend was logged into to his iOS developer account, thus creating an account for him, with my username. No posts have been made under this account nor has any other activity taken place.
Is it possible to have this account deleted? Or at least the username changed?
Thanks!

Hi,
I will say that the Hosts tend to have a small range of reasons that they will actually do this for.
In the cases where people create an Alias that is the same as their Email address or something similar that makes them a little too indentifiable the the Hosts might do it for Privacy reasons.
Obviously that includes things like listing yourself as a partnership (JanetandJohn for Instance) and there may be an issue over ownership of that ID/Alias.
To Be Clear - we are talking about changes to the Alias  associated with the Apple Support Communities rather than anything about the actual  Apple ID you are using to Login.
If you had an Apple ID that was used with an Alias created fro the old Version of the Software  used to run the Forums then normally you are unable to change it. (it will be a hosts decision as to whether they feel a change would be possible.  It may pay to check any likely Alias you do want to use is not in use already. Use the Search feature.)
The Original Poster  has the easiest time as he can just create a New ID and Alias if he wants to use the Support Communities.
I can see he may feel honour bound top sort things out for his Friend's account.
If there are bits of your Apple ID that you can change this Apple Page may help.

  • Cannot create Apple Support Communities Account

I have been trying, unsuccessfully, for the past few months to create an Apple Support Communities account.  Unfortunately, everytime I login with my AppleID I receive the following message:
We're sorry. Your account could not be created due to system issues.
Please contact Apple Support Communities with the information below to create your account.
I then put in my e-mail address and explain the issue.  I have never once heard back from Apple, and the problem still persists.  In fact, I had to create a different AppleID entirely, just to create an account here to post this very topic!
My AppleID is simply my .Mac/MobileMe email address...so I have no idea what is going on.  It would be really appreciated if someone from Apple would respond to this post, since nobody has every responded to the numerous emails sent out using the above.

OK... is there a question here somewhere?

  • Is it possible to completely delete your Apple Support Communities account?

    Hello everybody,
    As the title states.

It seems that complete deletion is impossible, but the next best thing would be to clear out your personal information, if that was your concern:
    1. Remove devices and other personal information from your Apple Support Community profile. This would be accomplished by editing your profile and privacy settings (e.g make the privacy settings as strict as possible).
    2. You'll notice your name and email address are not editable via the Apple Support Communities profile page. However, you can edit your name and email address used by Apple Support Communities from your Apple ID https://appleid.apple.com/
To change these, login and click on the "Manage your Apple ID" and you will be able to change them via the "Name, ID and Emaill Addresss" link in the menu on the left. However, please note that any changes to your Apple ID affect your main Apple account (iTunes, iCloud, Apple Online Store, etc.)

  • I want my apple support communities account deleted

    Hi everyone,
I really want to delete my account as I haven't used it since 2009 and I don't like the usage of my name for privacy reasons. I would either like my ASC account completely deleted or at least my name changed and previous topic history deleted. I just don't feel conftorable floating my name around.
Thanks, I would appreciate any answer at all.

That information is not something you can easily take back.  Once you post something online, it can be impossible to take back entirely.  There are other sites that keep an archive of posts on this site, even if the moderators here do comply and remove your posts.
I see nothing wrong with any of your posts - nothing embarrassing - and if you're just paranoid about having your name posted on a web site, note that I've been using my real name here very regularly since 2006 and have never had a problem with it.  There's nothing that a malicious party can do with the fact that you posted here a few times 2 years ago.
    Don't worry about it.

  • What is the use of points earned in apple support communities??

This solved my questionRe: How the heck do you get points on your apple support communities account?
Jul 12, 2013 10:20 PM (in response to BMPU)
To get points, you have to answer questions. If the user that created the post tested your solution and it worked, he/she (may) give you a "This solved my question". As you can see in the right part of this page, a solved question adds 10 points to your account. If you helped solve the problem, you receive 5 points. On a single thread, the original poster can only give 1 "This solved my question" and 2 "This helped me", so you can receive a total of 20 points.
With these points, there are levels that you can see in this page > https://discussions.apple.com/static/apple/tutorial/reputation.html When you level up, you receive privileges like report posts, access to Community Calls... The most important level respecting to privileges is the level 6, that gives you access to a special forum called "The Lounge" (where you can talk about anything you want, complain about an user or report problems with the forum), and you also receive gifts from Apple and other privileges

  • Here's what changed in the 'Apple Support Communities Use Agreement'

The terms for this website were revised 24 April 2014; they were previously revised 7 May 2013; they were previously revised 6 April 2011.
If you'd like to know exactly what changed, see this 'diff', which shows exactly what changed.
Basically, Apple just added this (as points 12 and 13 to the 'General' section :
If you provide any ideas, suggestions, or recommendations on this site regarding Apple’s products, technologies or services (“Feedback”), Apple may use such Feedback and incorporate it in Apple products, technologies, and services without paying royalties and without any other obligations or restrictions.
For questions or problems regarding your Apple Support Communities account, please post a question in the Using Apple Support Communities forum, or email [email protected]
For all versions, see Apple Support Communities Use Agreement
    Helpful?

Thanks; I may be wrong of course, but I thought para. 12 was there all along and only 13 was added (which, FWIW, is an excellent idea in my humble opinion). Also, the ToU are available by clicking on the link at the bottom of this page here.

  • Stop Apple Support Communities mailing?

    Hello.
I want to know how to stop receiving emails each time there is a new message in the thread I posted on. I've switched off all the notifications, and yet I still receive 20-30 messages each day, not being able to do anything about it (not even cancelling my Apple Support Communities account, which seems not possible).
    Thank you very much.

  • I signed up for Apple ID and Apple Support Communities separately. Can I merge the two accounts?

I signed up for an "Apple ID" and an "Apple Support Communities username" separately using the same e-mail address.  Is there any way to merge the two accounts?
I signed up for "Apple Support Communities" several years ago to get help with Apple products. I then signed up for an "Apple ID" later on to buy stuff at the iTunes Store.
I was trying to access "Apple Support Communities" using my Apple ID and I get prompted to choose a username. But when I type my current username, it says the username is already taken. Alternatively, if I try to choose a new username to go along with my Apple ID, I get a message saying that there is a username already assigned to my e-mail address.
For some reason, "Apple Support Communities" is not intuitively syncing the two accounts together despite the fact that they are linked to the same e-mail address.
I don't want to cancel either of these accounts since I have activities using one/the other that I do want to preserve.
Can anyone help me merge these two accounts together?
    Thanks.

I will do it for you.   I can't say they will take any action, they operate in their own way, but if they feel there may be a threat to your security they will normally take it seriously.   My guess is they would eMail their actions to you, though not to me of course.
    I hope this will help.
Okay; I've now reported the thread.

  • Does anyone know how to delete an Apple Support Community account/profile?

    Hey Guys,
Thanks for taking the time to take a look at this post!
I need to delete my apple support community account because I have responded to some questions and asked a few myself in the past and now even though I have fully removed myself from those posts and changed my e-mail preferences so that those preferences are set to not receiving any more emails, I am still receiving emails!!!!
So i just want to delete my account now..
    Many thanks in advance!!

There is no way for you to delete the account. I suppose in dire circumstances a host could do it but it doesn't happen often.
If the only reason you want to delete the account is because of the email you are getting from here, it can be stopped. SeeHighly annoyed here. for the way to stop them.
    regards

How do I delete the discussions I made before,on this Apple Support Communities page?

You can't delete any post you have made on these discussions. You would need to request this with apple hosts, go to this this discussion group and request a host to delete any post you have made.

  • I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?

    Question:-
I created an Apple ID using my ISP Email when I registered at the Store/Apple Support Communities/iTunes/Face Time or other portal and it does not work in iChat. Why Not ?
    Answer:-
For a Name to work in iChat it has to be an Valid AIM screen Name.
Only Apple IDs from the @mac.com ending names registered here  and the Mobileme (@Me.com ending) names are Valid with the AIM service as well as being Apple IDs
(I am still working on info about registering with iCloud at the moment but if this does give you an @Me.com email it may well be a valid AIM name as well)
    NOTES:-
The @mac.com page works by linking an external (Non Apple) email with a @mac.com name.
This External Email cannot be one linked to an Existing Apple ID (you have to use a second email or register at AIM )
The options at AIM are to use your existing email or create new name and link the existing only for Password recovery
MobileMe (@me.com ending names) were valid Emails addresses, Apple IDs AND a Valid AIM Screen Name
@mac.com names look like emails but are only Apple IDs and iChat/AIM Valid Screen Names.
The AIM registration page seems to be pushing you to register [email protected] This is relatively new and I have not followed through the pages to find out if it a valid AIM email (Previously you could register a name without an @whatever.com suffix)

    Question:-
So I have my current [email protected] email in iChat as I thought as I had linked that to an Apple ID it was a Valid iChat Name.  It keeps coming up with a UserName or Password Invalid message.  What do I do next ?
    Answer:-
    Open iChat
Go to the Menu under the iChat name in the Menu Bar and then Preferences and then Accounts in the new window.
Commonly written as iChat > Preferences > Accounts as directions/actions to take.
If it displays with a Yellow running name in the list you have a choice.
Either register it at AIM (I would use a different password to the ISP Login) and then change the password only in iChat  (It may take you to confirm any Confirmation email from AIM first) in iChat > Preferences > Accounts
Or you register a new Name at AIM (Or at @mac.com) and enter that (details below)
If you have a Blue Globe name  (@mac.com) that will not Login the chances are that it the password that is the issue.
Apple lets you create longer passwords than can be used with the AIM Servers.
Change the Password at iForgot to no more than 16 characters.
Then change the password in iChat as details above.
Adding a new Account/Screen Name in iChat (that is valid with the AIM servers)
    Open iChat if not launched.
Go to iChat Menu > Preferences > Accounts
Click the Add ( + )  Button at the bottom of the list.
Choose in the top item drop down either @Mac.com or AIM depending on what you registered
Add the name (with @mac.com the software will add the @mac.com bit)
Add in the password.  (If you don't add it now iChat will ask you each time you open it)
    Click Done.
The Buddy List should open (New Window)
The Accounts part of the Preferences should now have the new name and you should be looking at the details.
You can add something in the Description line which will then title the Buddy List (Useful when you have two or more names) and make it show up as that in the iChat Menu > Accounts and the Window Menu of iChat when logged in.
You can then highlight any other Account/Screen Name you don't want to use and use the Minus ( - ) Button to delete it.

  • Can't stop receiving apple support communities updates

For the past few days I've been receiving 'apple support communities updates' on a continuous basis. They are all coming from 'iTunes for Mac' community. I've de-selected all the types of notifications in my notifications section of my profile, but they continue to be delivered to me. I currently have over 300 in my gmail account and that's after deleting 150 or so already.
Has this ever happened to anyone else. It's like a  subversive plot that someone is doing to me. Any ideas on how to resolve this incessant delivery? Thanks in advance for any help.
