Deleting apps in Library

Hey i was wondering if it is possible to delete all the apps in my itunes library on my computer that arent on my ipod without going through and deleting one by one. I only have like 20 apps on my ipod and 200 apps in my library so it is a clear waste of space. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Some more information: I went back into Audio MIDI Setup, and I clicked on the MIDI Devices tab. I clicked on the Test Setup toggle, and my cursor changed to the musical note. Should I be hearing something from the speakers when this happens? My audio was silent (but still during that time, I could hear the interface feedback when i volumed-up and volumed-down).

  • How do i delete apps on itunes ??? i went to the library and it only shows a few apps that i have.  But when i go into my account i can see all of the apps i have downloaded.  soooo how do i delete the apps that are only showing in my account?

How do I delete an app on iTunes?  I can delete the apps that are shown in the library of iTunes by right clicking and hitting "delete".  But all of my apps aren't shown in the library (I don't understand that either).  I can see all downloaded apps in my account though. But I don't see how to delete them from there.

If you plug in your iphone, click on it in iTunes, and go to the apps section, it should be checked to sync apps if you want them to show up in iTunes as well as your iPhone. Once synced they will show on both.
Then if you click Apps under the Library header in the left panel of iTunes, you'll be able to permanently delete apps, removing them entirely from iTunes. Highlight an app's icon or a group of icons by holding down Shift and hit the delete key (or select Edit > Delete from the top menu or right-click on an icon and selecting delete).

  • How can I re-sync my iPhone and iPad after accidentally deleting my iTunes library (without losing all of the apps on my devices)?

Long story short: A sequence of bad decisions on my part caused me to delete my entire iTunes library (song files, apps, itl file, everything in the music folder).  Another bad decision left me without a Time Machine backup of this folder. I have a backup of my music and I can redownload audiobooks from Audible, so I'm not stressed out about my audio.
The problem is my iPhone and iPad. I've downloaded >400 apps and have over 100 on each device. How can I begin syncing them to this new, app-free library without having every app deleted (along with their organization, settings and related-documents). I use these devices heavily so this is a huge conundrum for me.
The next step would seem to be to restore my audio files to a new iTunes library, but how do I then sync my devices to that library without wiping out every app on my iDevices?  I'm a pretty technical user and am willing to hand edit the ITL files if necessary.  I think that i _may_ be able to find a version of the itl file that's about a year old from an ancient backup. But that still doesn't solve the whole problem.
    Thank you,
    Spencer

I managed to lose an earlier reply I'd started before you came back with your "solved" so I didn't bother to retype it.
    It went something like this:
You should be able to recover the media with the tips in  this post from forum regular Zevoneer but I'm not sure what the implications are for your application settings. You can probably transfer your purchases into an authorised library, backup the device, recover any other media using third party tools, then restore the device from the backup.
The older .itl file is useful however as iTunes should see this as the "home" library for your device which will allow you to preserve the application settings. (.itl file? Mac? I assume the library has migrated from PC to Mac at some point). Any files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder or did you kill those as well? The most recent of these would be the best place to start.
And no, the .itl file is not editable by mortals...
Once you've restored the media from backups or recovered whatever else you useful can from the device, the scripts MusicFolder Files Not Added and Super Remove Dead Tracks should help get the library up to speed with the contents of the media folder.

  • How to make an app deleted from iTunes library be deleted from all the iOS devices synced with this library?

    Hello!
I have 3 iOS devices synced with iTunes apps library (OS X 10.10.2)
Can someone tell me how to make not only added but deleted apps be synced also? I mean I want an app deleted in iTunes library be deleted from any iOS devices synced with this library.

But it was working some time before! What and when has changed?
There was even a warning popup window something about "this application will be deleted from all the devices synced with this library"
Now there's opposite message - "This application will not be deleted from any device syncing with this account". Isn't it some kind of clue that there can be conrarily circumstances - when application IS deleted from ANY device synced with this computer?

  • Itunes (on Windows 7) just deleted my entire library of music, apps and playlists

I'm Running the latest version of Itunes on Windows 7. Itunes deleted every single song, playlist and app entirely for the 2nd time this month. Is there any way to easily restore the library? Without re-importing each and every song, downloading every single app, re-creating every playlist manually, re-subscribing to every podcast, etc....?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

  • IPhone Photos App Photo Library has no Delete button

iPhone 4S iOS 6.1.3 Photos App Photo Library Album Pictures have no Delete button in the bottom right bottom corner like found in Camera Roll Album Pictures. How do I delete obsolescent photos on the iPhone Photo Library Album without sync deleting it on my computer's iPhoto and other sync devices?
    Hurry—only 60.6 MB Available!

The same exact thing happened to me but on IOS7. What i did was take a very long video that took up my entire hardrive. That over writes that photo because the iphone thinks its already deleted and techinically its not.

  • How do i delete my photo library from my iphone 4?

My computer downloaded my entire photo library to my iPhone 4s & I'm almost out of storage space.  As far as I can tell, there is no way to delete the photo library from the phone itself; I have tried.
I have gone into iTunes library to delete it from there, but I don't have a "photo" option.  I clicked on all of the other choices on the tab in the upper left-hand corner: Music, Movies, TV Shows, Books, Apps, & Tones.  None of these options have anything related to photos or photo libraries.
I have cleared my "My Pictures" folder on my PC and re-synched the phone; that didn't work either.  I've gone through everything under the "Settings" tab on the phone itself, but to no avail.
I'm almost to the point where I just want to take my phone to the wireless provider and have them wipe everything out and reset the phone back to its original settings, but I'm thinking there's GOT to be an easier way to solve this problem.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance...

As far as I can tell, there is no way to delete the photo library from the phone itself; I have tried.
Yes there is and if you are unable to via the iTunes sync process, there is a problem.
I have gone into iTunes library to delete it from there, but I don't have a "photo" option.
Photos transferred from your computer via the iTunes sync/transfer process are not stored in your iTunes library. iTunes serves as the transfer conduit only between the location on your computer's hard drive where the selected photos are stored and your iPhone.
This is selected under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. If all photos that were transferred from your computer to your iPhone are not removed from the iPhone after deselecting Sync Photos under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes followed by a sync, try creating a new folder on your computer's hard drive that will remain empty. Select this empty folder under the Photos tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes instead of your My Pictures folder followed by a sync.
I'm almost to the point where I just want to take my phone to the wireless provider and have them wipe everything out and reset the phone back to its original settings,
You don't need to take the iPhone anywhere to do this ends up being needed. You can erase all data and settings direct on the iPhone at Settings > General > Reset which will erase everything but the iOS version installed and the included apps, or you can restore the iPhone with iTunes on your computer as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

  • With iOS 6 on my 4th gen iTouch I am finding I no have to delete the playlist from my iTouch, not the when I sync. Now the paylist is being deleted from my library as well. What am I doing wrong?

With the new iOS 6 I have to use on my old iTouch (4th gen) instead of deleting a playlist thru the sync, I was instructed to delete it on the device. Now when I sync I am finding the playlist has been deleted from the library as well. I just want it off teh device, not erased. What am I doing wrong?

  • How can I delete apps in iTunes and have that sync to my iPhone and iPad?

How can I delete apps in iTunes and have that sync to my iPhone and iPad? I don't want to delete 3 separate times for each item. I just carefully chose 30-35 apps to get rid of via iTunes, hoping it would sync to my devices, only to find I have to repeat the process on my iPad, take notes, then repeat it on my iPhone. It wasn't always so tedious was it?
Here's the "Help" I got from Apple. They even quoted my question back to me then proceeded to answer with something very different and completely missing the point.
I understand that you would like to delete the Apps. I know how eager you are to get the required information and I will be happy to assist you.
You can remove individual songs, audiobooks, and videos from your iPod, iPhone, or iPad. Removing an item from your device doesn't delete it from your iTunes library.
To remove items from a device other than an iPod shuffle, first make sure that iTunes is set up to manually manage items.
    1. Connect your iPod, iPhone, or iPad to your computer.
    2. When the iPod, iPhone, or iPad icon appears in iTunes, select it.
    3. Unless your device is an iPod shuffle, click the Summary tab and make sure "Manually manage music and videos" or "Manually manage music" is selected.
    4. If the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad (below Devices) is closed, click the triangle so that you can see the device's contents.
    5. Select the item you want to delete and press the Delete key.
This was not helpful in any way and I am still unable to delete apps on my devices in a global, iTunes based way. Each device still requires its own independent process.

Match was off.  I made all of the changes and then went through the "Turn on iTunes Match" option.  I now have deleted some tracks, edited the Metadata in CDDA, and then added it back.  This worked fine, but it is not a good solution.
I just tried making some edits and use the "Update iTunes Match" and that seemed to work.  It looks like the real answer is that Match must be up and operational, then you can make changes and run the Update to incorporate the changes.  However, if Match has a problem then Signing Out and back in to your store account and going through the process of Turning On Match (were you get the questions, "Add this Computer to Match" will overwrite any changes.
Since this relies on the stability of iTunes, I won't be making a lot of changes between updates.

  • How to sync deleted app same on iTunes same on device in one step ?

Using XP 32bit with iTunes 11.1.3.8 and ios 7.0.4 on ipad 3, when deleting an app and syncing using the usb cord,
I have to do twice, so once in itunes library the other time in device app tab., this to have "aligned" same pc same ipad.
If I do only one of the two steps the deleted app remains still or on device or on iTunes library.
So how to delete and sync the device only with one step (with iTunes 10.6.3 this was possible) ?
If it is called sync it has to do sync or not ?
    Thanks

You can also *Transfer purchases from device* to copy all your purchased content into the new library. If you've got media on the phone that wasn't backed up from the old machine then you should probably take a look at this post from Zevoneer for options on moving your data back to a computer.

  • IPad 1 - Deleted app, tried to reinstall, but later version is only available which does not work on iOS5.  How do I get the original back?

Deleted App on my iPad 1.  Tried to reinstall - but app has been updated and only works on iOS6 now.
Have gone to app store and looked under "purchased", again only the updated app is available which doesn't work on my device.
How do I get back the original version which worked on the earlier version of iOS?
I do not have a copy of the app in iCloud.
    Thanks

The only possible way that you could get it back is if the app is still in your iTunes library. If you don't sync with iTunes and it is not in your iTunes library, unfortunately, your version of the app is gone now.

I updated my ipod and it deleted my entire library.  How do I restore it with the backup I have so all songs will be available in the cloud; which I paid extra Money to increase memory for?

The backup that iTunes makes does not include apps, music, synced videos and photos. Se:
    iTunes: About iOS backups
You will have to sync the items back form yur computer/iTunes library to the iPod via iTunes. If they are not on the computer you can redownloa d some iTunes purchases by:

  • Update deleted my music library

First, I tried to manually sync 2 songs but it said "Iphone could not be synced. Internal error has occurred." So I tried to update both itunes and my iphone. It didn't work nd it deleted my music library. Help

@shadow221, unfortunately that method only retured my previously backedup photos and nothing else. After attempting restoring it back to a few Backups with failed attempts, I just gave up.
Some users mentioned doing a complete restore to factory setting and do a backup but it just screwed with my ipod and no music back.  So i just let it be.  I reloaded my old tracks from iTunes, my Apps, unfortunately iTunes doesnt give me any option to reload any of my videos FML.
I did the above and wasted a good day and a half of my life reloading (on my pc) 300 songs, now I only have 1,200+ more to download to match my previous library contents.  Thanks Apple.
PS: i called Apple a week before the iOS 5 release and an associate explained that it will NOT delete my library if I do the update---thanks much for the warning!!!
