Deleting Apps on iPad No iTunes

I have an iPad that I have never synced to iTunes.  When I delete an app using the wiggle and tap X it deletes. When there is an update for the deleted app, it shows up in updates. If I update the app, it redownloaded the app. I would like to permanently delete the apps so they never show in updates. Is that possible?
Alice

As far as I know there is not. Once you download the app it is in your purchase history and the updates will always appear.  The only way around it that I can think of would be to hide the app in your purchase history in iTunes and that may keep the app updates from appearing. You do not have to sync with iTunes in order to do this, but you do have to do it in iTunes on your computer.
You have nothing to lose by trying.

  • How to delete apps for ipad in itunes?

i've installed some apps in my ipad and sync with my itunes. but when i no longer like those apps and want to erase them, i can only erase them from the ipad, not from the itunes.

Launch iTunes on your computer and go the apps section of the iTunes library. Right click on the app that you want to delete and you should be able to delete it. I think that you can also click on the app  and then go to Edit>Delete to remove the app.

  • Abort transfer app from iPad to iTunes

How to abort transfer app from iPad to iTunes when sync process? Every time when I sync my iPad Mini (iOS 8.1.3.) to iTunes (Mac OS, 12.0.1) every app is copied to iTunes media on my Mac. How avoid this unnecessary process?

If you only delete the files from your Mac via Finder, but leave them listed in the Apps part of your iTunes library, then they will not be copied back from your iPad when you sync again (unless there is a newer version on it).
If you do have to restore to a backup at any point in the future then to restore to an iTunes backup you will need the apps on your computer (a backup does not contain the actual apps, just their content/settings), and you may not be able to redownload them from the store (e.g. if the developer has removed them). An iCloud backup also doesn't contain your apps, it will redownload what it can from the store.

  • TS1741 I am having difficulty connecting my Remote App on iPad to iTunes. It used to work fine, but with latest iTunes and latest Remote, I can't get it to work. iTunes should open a 'pop up' window to add 4 digit code, but nothing happens. Any clues plea

Would appreciate in connecting Remote App on iPad to iTunes. It used to work find, before iTunes 11.0 - but now pop up window to input  4 digit code does not appear. Any ideas how to prompt window to open on iMac? Remote App works OK, but says that Home Sharing is not Turned On, although it is. Both devices are logged into my profile account.

You no longer need the 4 digit code in iTunes 11.
    iTunes (10.0.1 or later)
Open iTunes on your Mac or PC.
iTunes 11 or newer: Turn on Home Sharing in iTunes by going to File > Home Sharing> Turn on Home Sharing.
iTunes 10.7 or older: Turn on Home Sharing in iTunes by going to Advanced > Turn on Home Sharing.
Connect iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to a Wi-Fi network that is connected to the local network that your Mac or PC is also connected to.
Open the Remote app (software version 2.0 or later) on your mobile device.
Turn on Home Sharing in the Remote Settings screen. Make sure to sign into the same Home Sharing account you used to sign in to from iTunes on your computer.
Once Home sharing is enabled for both your computer and your mobile device, Remote app will be be able to view and control audio and video playback in your iTunes library.

Is there a way to transfer only selected apps from iPad to iTunes? I would like to transfer only apps that need an update so that i can update it with iTunes instead.

how to delete app from iPad mini

Press and hold any of the apps on your iPad's homescreen and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'

  • How to delete app from iPad

I own iPad 1. I want to delete some apps and Safari bookmarks from iPad sceren. When I Click and hold the button on the face of the ipad (on icons) they do no flash or start flickering.
So to remove apps i have to use iTunes (where it flickers). I read it should work same on iPad as well. What could be the problem?

If you press and hold any of the apps then after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake, not flash or flicker. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. You cannot delete any of the Apple built-in apps e.g. iPod, App Store, Game Centre etc. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'.
Do they not shake if you hold them for a couple of seconds ?

  • Backing up Apps from ipad to itunes

Hi - I have an old ipad vs 1 which hasn't had it's OS updated for ages. When I connect it to my computer, and want to update the os, I'm told by itunes that all the apps will go, and to back them up. The problem I have is that I have an iphone with all its apps backed up to itunes. I can't find a way to just back up the apps on the ipad to itunes without syncing the whole lot, which will mean that all my apps from my iphone will go onto the ipad, which I don't want. Basically, how do I manually back up the apps from my ipad.
    Thanks,
    Mark.

Doing File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases) will copy any apps (and any other purchases e.g. music, films etc) that aren't on your computer's iTunes over to it from your iPad. Copying purchases over to your iTunes library won't affect a device's backup, and backing up your iPad won't affect your iPhone's backup.
Before starting the update you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
Then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.  The update process should take a backup, empty the iPad, install the new iOS version, and then restore the backup so that the previous contents are copied back (but for a restore to work fully you need all of the relevant apps on your computer's iTunes as they are not included in a backup, just their content and setting, which is one reason why you should do the Transfer Purchases).

A first gen iPad should update to iOS 5.1.1 (it doesn't support iOS 6).

  • How do I delete APPS through the latest iTunes?

    Hi,
Prior to updating to IOS7 I have bac ked up my iPhone but realized that my data was too large for my 32GB iPhone 4s.  It is mostly in APPs.  I tried to delete APPs in iTunes but the APPs either give me a cjoice of REMOVE/WILL REMOVE or INSTALL/WILL INSTALL.
How do I change an APP from INSTALL/WILL INSTALL to REMOVE in itunes?
What is the difference between INSTALL and WILL INSTALL anyway?
Is there a way to sync my 4s with NO APPs installed so I can start fresh and download only the APPS I use frequently?

Click the blue "Done" button in the upper right:
then choose Apps in the pull-down in the upper left of the next screen:
which will then list your apps. You can delete items by clicking on one or more and hitting the "delete" key.
Took me quite a while to find this. Apple should know better than to make things so non-intuitive for us.

  • Cannot delete apps on iPad.

They jiggle but no cross.  Tried: General - Restrictions - screen shaded i.e. cannot drag 'delete apps' button across to turn on.  Any ideas?

If the settings are "shaded" that indicates that restrictions are not turned on. So you don't want to drag the button to turn it on, you want it to be off.
You cannot delete the preinstalled apps so if you are trying to delete those, you can't. Is your iPad a company iPad or a school iPad? If so, the devices might be set up with something that prevents deleting apps.

  • HT201304 Deleting apps on ipad

I a a new user of Apple products and it looks like I have inadvertently downloaded apps that I don't know we're paid. How do I delete those? Also my understanding was that iTunes and the Apps Store offered free downloads but I don't see much of that stuff..if its true how does one look for these apps?
    help please..

Before you delete the paid apps - understand that If you delete paid apps, it's not like you get your money back by deleting them from the iPad - in case you think that is how it works.
Once you download them, you have paid for them. The terms of the App Store state that all sales are final. It is very clear if an app is paid or free in the App Store, so just be more careful. If you want to try to get a refund, contact iTunes support.
Paid apps have a prices listed under them, free apps say free under the app icon. It really downs get any simpler than that. You can go the app store - tap on - Top Charts - and you will see a whole section of the top free apps that are available in the app store.
