Deleting apps on iphone 4

when I delete apps from my iphone 4, should space immediately free up? It seems like the available space is VERY slowly becoming available.... is this normal?

Yea I understand how to delete apps and what is taking up space. My problem is that when I delete an app... for example that takes up 100MB... only 5MB will become available... I'm not sure why 100MB doesn't become available when I delete it.

Is there a way to NOT delete apps from iPhone?

I know, odd question. However, sometimes my son gets a hold of my phone, holds his finger on the screen too long, and then he has the ability to delete apps. I can restore them during the sync, but I'm wondering if there is a way to shut this off without going the passcode lock route? I tried that and he started to make emergency calls!

I am unable to delete apps on iPhone 5

After looking at other similar questions, I can find no answer.
For some reason, I can no longer delete apps from my iPhone 5 running 6.1.4. I am doing everything the way you are supposed to, but nothing. What I end up with is a bunch of jiggling icons, the one I am trying to delete has its "x" blacked out, but it doesn't delete. There is no message asking if I am sure I want to delete this app. I have to do a hard rest in order to get back to normal.
This happen regardless the app I am trying to delete, so there is no one offending app causing the problem. I've checked restrictions and am able to delete. This is just weird and more than a little bit frustrating. I do not want to keep going into iTunes to delete apps from my iPhone. I shouldn't have to anyway.
Everything else appears fine. No problems on my iPad or iPod Touch.
Any assistance will be most welcome!

Syncing music says will delete apps on iphone

I'm trying to sync music to my IPhone 4 and when I select songs and choose 'apply' a warning message pops up that says 'Are you sure you want to delete x number of apps from IPhone? This will delete the apps and their data? Cancel or Remove'
Has anyone else had this? Am I just not syncing things correctly? My apps are set to sync automatically, I haven't changed anything to do with Apps settings during this sync...

I have tried that but, as the apps does not appear in my iTunes, im not able to download them again. Then i will have to buy them (new) again and some of them not longer excist on iTunes store.

Sync with iTunes. If the app is no longer in iTunes then it will be removed from the iPhone.

Itunes not deleting apps from iphone when deleted

Hello All,
Since I updated to ITunes 11 I have had a device behavior change with my IPhone and IPad. In the past when I would delete an App from ITunes it would also delete the app from the device on the next sync. This seems to have gone away with the ITunes 11 update.
Does anyone know how to get that back?

I have exactly the same problem on Windows after upgrading to itunes 11 for both iPhone4 and iPad3.
I also reset the warnings in iTunes and clicked don't transfer during sync but that does not help at all and the problem is still there.

Can't delete apps on iphone 5

When i try to delete an app the icons wiggle, the x appears briefly in the left hand corner and then disappears, leaving me unable to delete any apps. I have checked the restrictions so this is not the problem - can anyone help? The phones battery life has also suddenly shortened drastically, without use it has about 3 hours standby time. Not sure if these things are related?

Make sure the app is terminated by double clicking the home button, and then swipe up and away the index material that sits above the app's icon.
Also, try a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider if that appears.
That should reset the iPhone and see how it behaves after that.

I have apps that are meant for iPad now on my iPhone. I do have an iPad, and updated it also. Not all the apps from my iPad are on my iPhone. Just a few. They are stuck in waiting limbo and are dark. I am unable to delete them-I click the x, click delete, and they are still there. Help!

I Thought with new iPhones and iPads we wouldn't need to connect to a PC to get to iTunes to fix things. I'm having the same problem as above. Two apps don't belong on my iPhone. They were on my iPad, they are in limbo and my iPhone will not update to ios7.2 because it says there are apps that need to update. This is my second iPhone 5s after trying to get a better iPhone because of Sensorgate. This is getting old. I've never had these kind of issues with my previous iPhones. yes, that happens to me... I can't delete any of my apps! When I try to click the X button on the top right corner of the app it will freeze and I have to press the lock on top or bottom to get back to the lock screen. I don't know what to do though!

Attempt to delete the app as indicated above: hold down one app icon, icons will start to wiggle, X's appear in the upper-corner of some apps. click the X of the app you want to delete, select 'Delete' in the message that appears.
It will look like nothing has happened. Now go to App Store and try to redownload the same app. There it may say 'Open' Instead of 'Install', select what ever is there. A fresh copy of the app will be loaded again on you iphone and the icon will become clear (not black or dark). Now repeat the first steps to delete an app (i.e. make the x's show, click the x of the app you want to delete) it will be deleted/removed completely).

I deleted an app from my iphone by accident. When connected to iTunes via my computer it doesnt sync again, even though the app is in the applications library on my iTunes.
Ive also gone to buy the app again (both on my phone and through iTunes) and it is coming up with the about to charge message rather than a "you have already purchased this item, to download.." message.
Can anyone help please?

Ok. Just clicked on the buy and its brought up the message about not having to pay again at the last stage.
So this can be deleted / locked for a reference in case someone else has the same problem.

Upgraded to iOS 7. Loving it so far and all the new features. Only issue is while rearranging my aps I realize there were some I didn't need anymore such as some games I no longer played. But now I can't seem to figure out how delete them.

Hmm--I tried that, is the thing, and no x pops up on any of my apps anymore, whether I downloaded them or they came pre-installed. Maybe I need to restart my phone?

ITunes on new pc wants to delete apps on iPhone

Hi. So I just purchased a new pc last week and activated my current iTunes account. Whenever I sync my iphone, it says if I sync the apps it will remove the ones not listed in my itunes library. There aren't any listed in the library since they weren't downloaded from that computer. I'm not sure what I should do. I don't want to have to go through the hassle of re-downloading all of my apps. Any advice please? Thanks!

Transfer the entire iTunes named folder from your old PC to your new PC, along with all other important data from your old PC that you need or want to access on your new PC.
Within the iTunes named folder is your iTunes library that includes music and video, album artwork, iTunes playlists, playcount, and a Mobile Applications folder which includes all 3rd party apps.
With iTunes quit on your new PC, place the iTunes named folder in the same location on your new PC where it was located on your old PC.
Or if you don't care about any other iTunes content, with your iPhone connected to iTunes on your new PC and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
