Deleting Artwork

At times, I have dragged in the wrong artwork for a given song and then I've tried dragging the right artwork over top of it. What usually happens is that, I have two pieces of artwork in the square below my menue and the default is somehow set, to select the piece of art which I am trying to get rid of. How can I delete the wrong image and then, have the image which I choose to be shown as the one which comes up, when I've highlighted that particular song?

Select the Artwork tab of the Get Info window for that track; you can delete art there.
Alternatively, you can delete all artwork for multiple tracks at once by selecting them, Getting Info on all of the tracks, ticking the checkbox next to the empty artwork square, and clicking OK.

  • How to delete artwork in the new iTunes?

With the new iTunes having been installed a night or two ago, I cannot seem to easily manage the album artwork of my songs anymore.
When I hit "Get Info" and go to the "Artwork" tab, the only way to add art is by clicking "Add Artwork" and manually searching for it in my drives. I no longer can simply copy and paste. I also cannot even do anything with the currently existing artwork; right clicking it does literally nothing. Highlighting and hitting "delete" on the keyboard also does nothing. So, granted these new extremely limited options (again, I can literally only "Add Artwork"), how does one go about deleting already-existing artwork?
In most cases, adding artwork did seem to automatically delete any previously existing one, which is exactly what I needed. But for a couple of cases, adding artwork only added the image to the "Art Gallery" instead of actually overlapping the old art, and there is zero option to delete either of the two similar images. Any insight?

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus but accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.
    Delete Artwork
On the artwork tab of Get Into, tap the image in question, use Backspace or Ctrl+X. Delete doesn't work.
Or, tap the image at the top left of Get Info, this time use Backspace or Delete, it is Ctrl+X that doesn't work.
    Add Artwork
Select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the center of the Artwork tab, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, select artwork, press Ctrl+C to copy, tap the small image area at the top left, press Ctrl+V to paste.
Or, you can drag & drop to, or sometimes from, the same locations.
You can also copy artwork from the Get Info dialog to Windows Explorer with the keyboard shortcuts.
If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy.
If you have multiple images embedded drag the one you want to be the primary artwork to the leftmost position.
The top left image box can be used to add or delete art from multiple tracks. In either case all existing art is removed/replaced.

  • Can't delete artwork

I pasted an album cover cover to a song that is corrpted and won't go away when I delete it. Any sugguestions?

I'm also experiencing this -- and many other -- artwork-related problems in the latest update. There are multiple threads about them, including copy/paste not working, viewing multiple artwork covers not working, and this problem of not being able to delete artwork.
My solution to this problem was to use Time Machine, and replace the song's file with an older copy, and then I'm able to delete the artwork, and add new. In the latest version, it's easy to "corrupt" a song's file, just by adding/updating artwork. Using Time Machine is the only way I've been able to fix problem songs. Very annoying.

  • Deleting Artwork in Itunes

For some reason several (Many) of my albums have picked up the same album art from a completely different album - the wrong one and I can not delete that artwork to search for the correct art. When I go into "Get Info" no artwork appears. How in the world do I get rid of the ghost artwork?

The iTunes 12 Get Info dialog lacks right-click context menus (at least for now) but it still accepts most standard keyboard shortcuts and drag & drop actions.

If the source image is on a web page right-click and use Copy Image rather than copy. (With Chrome I get a one pixel wraparound so tend to go for a temporary local copy anyway - not sure whose bug this is, but it isn't new.)

  • ITunes is deleting artwork

I recently built a new PC and merged my library from my old computer to my new one via Backup DVD's, but now iTunes is DELETING THE ARTWORK of the songs, and it seems each time i re-add missing artwork to a group of songs it deletes 50 artworks from other albums, please help, i don't want to add artwork to over 5500 songs

iTunes shouldn't delete artwork from existing albums when you add new art, however if your artwork is predominantly of the store-downloaded variety rather than embedded in the tracks then this might happen if the artwork database becomes corrupt. The simple fix for this is to remove the entire Album Artwork folder and let iTunes rebuild it from scratch. If the bulk of your art is not embedded however this will mean having to fetch the art again. Perhaps the following will help you with organising the task should it come to it...
*How to find tracks without artwork*
To find all the tracks without artwork so that you can update them you can try http://www.stum.de/itunes-find-tracks-without-artwork/ for Windows or http://dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=trackswithoutartwork for Macs. Use Google, Amazon, Discogs etc. to locate relevant images. Ideally these should be square, 320x320 pixels or above and borderless to give the best results in the various menus.
I say 320x320 because I believe (from using TouchCopy) that it's the size used in the iPod cache so if you're going to crop or resize a smallish image you might as well work to that size. Otherwise 200x200 is probably a good minimum size. iTunes store art seems to be generally 600x600 which is probably a good maximum.
I've not, so far, been able to locate a script to automate the process of replicating art from a track that has it to other tracks of the same album without art (or work out how to write one) however if you have artwork for some tracks of an album, but not others, find the album in the main music folder, select a track with artwork, right-click (Control-Click for Macs) on the art & click copy, then select all the tracks of the album, use CTRL-I or Command-I to *Get Info* and then paste the image into the artwork box.

  • How can I delete artwork?

I would like to find a way to delete album artwork from a file. I've converted many of my CDs into iTunes and have attached artwork that I've located on the web. Sometimes the artwork I initially selected wasn't the same as my actual CD covers but I added what I could find. When I later find the correct artwork for a CD and add it to iTunes, both copies of the artwork are stored. I'd like to delete the former version and retain only the correct version. It appears there is no mechanism to delete artwork once it's loaded into iTunes unless you delete the entire file, re-import it into iTunes and then add the correct artwork. That's quite time consuming and there should be a more straight forward means.

If you just drop art onto the panel beneath the playlists, any images you drop get added to the existing artwork in the selected files. If, however, you use the "Get Info" dialog on a group of files then the art you paste in replaces any & all existing artwork. If you simply need to remove all art from a group of tracks, select them, "Get Info", then on the Options tab place a tick against the artwork box and click OK.

  • Can I delete artwork icon in my ipod display?

I have an ipod classic 160 GB (6G). I do not wish to see the artwork icon in my display. I've deleted all my songs' artwork in my iTunes, but the music note icon of course remains on my ipod display. I use my ipod for teaching dance classes, and I'm only interested in viewing the text: song name, artist, etc., the way my old ipod photo (4G) displayed information, without the artwork icon. Is that possible?

Sorry, but it is not a feature of the iPod.

  • Delete artwork that was downloaded on another computer????

I can't delete, alter, or EVEN SEE the artwork in itunes that I downloaded and added to my touch from another computer.
Does anyone know of a way I can delete it?

That will not work when that particular artwork was added on from a different computer than the one you are trying to change it on. It will change it on iTunes, but will NOT sync the new artwork onto touch...no one else has this problem?

  • Changing Metadata Deletes Artwork-Why?!

So, I'm 40, and I like whole albums. Spotify and Pandora are not things that work with me. And I'm not jumping into this cloud thing because I end up in areas with no service. I want my music with me, on my own terms, because I own it. It's mine.
I'm also a music nerd and like to change the metadata in the Info section of the albums. Specifically, I prefer to put the year the album was release in parenthesis after the album title. That way I can reference that when I'm on the go and am using my iPod (don't get me started on how I feel about the iPod being discontinued…DON'T!)
I've been able to do this in the past with no problems. But now when I try it, after I enter the change and hit the OK button, it deletes the album artwork. Is this because I haven't upgraded to the current version? I'm only a version or two behind. And really, much like making a folder on my desktop for Word files, I consider iTunes a filing system that I have control over because it's full of music that I own.
Am I being naive in believing this?
The reason I don't upgrade the iTunes often is because they keep changing the layout. Again, this is my system. They need not change it around. But if you go too long without upgrading then it doesn't work with iTunes.
Which, again, as a system for my own personal files, makes no sense. Feel free to upgrade your store all you want, but don't make it impossible to use because some of us don't want to have our system totally overworked for no good reason. And iTunes works just fine. Who is trying to justify the job that they know they don't really deserve by "fixing" what isn't broken? Stop it, whoever you are.
So, sorry, this is a heated subject for me…bottom line, why is this change in the metadata deleting my artwork? And while we're here, bring back the frigging iPod! You can't get parts for the hard drive anymore? That's your excuse? You rule the world! That's insane to say that!
I'd love to ask iTunes support for help on this, but since my "contract" has expired, they want $29 to do so. And I buy music and movies on iTunes on a weekly basis. I used to think that Apple had good support but that has changed after tonight.
Anyone out there have a quick fix for this issue… the artwork one?
    Thanks.

    No I'm not.
I also made sure that in Preferences, "Show iTunes in the Cloud" was unchecked (in case it was that causing all my grief), but no luck.

  • How do you delete artwork in iTunes

How do you delete and replace artwork?

Select the song you want to edit and enter cmd-I (or  main menu -> File -> Get Info)
Then - in the Information panel - click the Artwork tab.
         - click on the Artwork and press the backspace key to remove it
         - or drop a picture file there to replace the artwork.
You can also cmd-click on the song and select: remove downloaded artwork, if you do nor like the artwork you downloaded from iTunes.

  • ITunes deletes artwork

When I play an album from iTunes on my computer, some times, but not always,  iTunes dletes the artwork and won't let me add it back.  I then need to dlete that album and reload it into iTunes along with the artwork which is either downloaded or added manually.  Why does iTunes do this?

all albums were loaded from CDs into iTunes on my PC, not downloaded from internet; then I either asked iTunes to find the artwork for that album, or if iTunes told me the artwork was not available, I scanned the cover as a jpeg, and copied and pasted into iTunes after clicking on "get info".  If I again scan the artwork as a jpeg and try to paste it as before, it won't appear.  Both artwork & music have synced to my iPod in the past.  Now I don't want to sync again for fear that the artwork will disappear from my iPod.  The disappearing art doesn't happen with all the albums and I have always loaded all CDs the same way.  Help!
