Deleting audiobooks

I have an audiobook on my Nano 5G that I downloaded from my local library. I can't find it in my itunes files and I don't know how to delete it from my Nano.

I also don't know how to *delete an audiobook* downloaded from my library using Overdrive Media Console. I've deleted it from my computer but can't delete it from my iPod. It doesn't show up on my iPod library in iTunes. I've selected to use my iPod as an external disc but still can't see any of my iPod contents with the file manager on my PC either.
There is nothing helpful on this in the iPod user guide - help, please, I'm going to run out of space on my iPod pretty quickly, and audiobooks are the main reason I use my iPod.

  • CANNOT delete audiobooks from ipod

I have just discovered audiobooks for my "reading" and love it. I have 2 books that I am done with and want to delete them from my 8g ipod. All my itunes screen says is books, it does not show what audiobooks, so i am not able to check or uncheck them when I sync my ipod.
Also, since I got windows 7 I have also not had the same itunes screen with all my playlists on the side. It was nice to have.
Can you help with these two problems, thanks, sanni

  • How do you delete audiobooks downloaded from Overdrive from the library from my Ipod Nano when I can't find any of the titles under Music in iTunes?

I've been uploading audiobooks from Overdrive and now that I'm done listening to them I want to delete them. After I hook my Ipod 7th gen up to the comp, it pulls up iTunes and I go to Music but I can't find any of the book titles there. They all show up in my songs group on my iPod. I've been manually managing the songs so I don't get all my husbands stuff on there. I've cruised through the other sections and tried searching the library without any luck. Any advice???

  • How to delete audiobooks on IPhone

When downloading from Appelstore to my iPhone I have experienced that the downloading suddenly stopped.
I had to ask Apple to put the book forward to be able to fullfill the downloading. This time I downloaded to my computer and syncronised.
But now I have 2 books on my iPhone. One is ok, and the other just a part of the hole book. I have tried to remove the false book from my Iphone through iTunes, and the ok book was removed. But the false one is still om my iPhone.
I have tried to remove all audiobooks from my iPhone deselcting them in iTunes. But I don¨t get rid of the false ones.
So.. how to remove these false books? (I have 3 of them). Please help

  • My ipod doesn't delete audiobooks I have read and are unchecked in Itunes library when I sync.

Audiobooks I have completed are not deleted from my ipod when I sync with itunes. Also, itunes automatically adds newly downloaded audiobooks to my ipod even though they have nor been checkmarked in my itunes library. Help.

    Robert,
What configurations do you have set up for syncing audibooks to your iPod?  To check, plug your iPod in and head over to its Audibooks configuration tab.

  • How to add music to iPod without deleting audiobooks

    Windows 7
    itunes - latest
    OverDrive Media
free books from library on a time loan
It's a *itch!  Every time I add music (which is actually audio files of lectures) all my audio books get erased.  I had one chapter left to hear today and my time loan ended some time today.  Now I have to go back to the library and wait until it comes off hold.  All because iTunes *****.  How can I add or change music on my iPod without touching/changing/deleting or affecting my audiobooks?
    Please, I need help!

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • Deleting audiobooks from my iphone 4

I have two audiobooks on my Iphone under the audiobooks tab that I want to delete.  Even though I created a playlist for each, they would not show in the list when I went to sync selected music.  The only way I could get the books on my Iphone was to drag and drop the audiobooks on the Iphone.
The problem is that I've listened to the books I can't find a way to remove them from my phone.  I"ve tried transferring purchases from my Iphone, but have had no luck.
When I pull up the audiobook tab in the Ipod app, I see the books and can play them, but I can't delete them.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks,
    CES

Allan if your still around, I dont have that "include audiobooks from playlist" option. I have and Iphone 4 on IOS 5 using a macbook pro on OSX snow leapoard Itunes ver 10.5.1
I have searched High and low and can not figure out how to get them off my phone. I have completely deleted them from Itunes and made sure they are not in the folders stored on my external. Only the books I want are still left (the ones I can remove from the phone). I want all the books still but just want them off my phone till I want to listen to them again.
I have tried the transfer purchases option. it failed.
    deleted play list. it failed
searched in the music and books folders for the books but they are gone. But the books (4 of them) are still on my phone.
I have even tried to change the authors name from last name first to first name first. The first name first shows up and can be removed but the old set of books with the last name first is still there. If I make them both the same I get two copies of the same audiobook.
I am seriously trying to avoid a factory reset just to get them off the phone.

  • Delete Audiobook

    Hi everybody!
Sorry, but my english is not very good. I have bought an ipod nano 8gb. There are some audiobooks in it and i want to delete it all. There are just it in my ipod. What can i do?

    Owen Mortensen wrote:
Weird!  That worked, but it seems STUPID to not just be able to go to the AudioBooks item in the left-side under the device, select the tracks and hit DELETE.  That should delete the tracks from the device (and uncheck the tracks so that if I want to put them back on the device I can just re-check the tracks -- or book).
    Thanks.
The above procedure of manually deleting the audiobooks from your iPod Touch would require you to have your iPod configured for manual management.  Or in other words, you would need to have the Manually manage music and videos option ticked from under your iPod's Summary tab.  Manually managing your iPod requires to manually add AND remove content from your iPod Touch.  See this article for more details on what manual management is and how it works.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1535
The checking and unchecking option/functionality only works when your iPod is configured to automatically sync with your iTunes library.  It does NOT work when you have it set up for manual management.  See this article for more on automatic syncing.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1351
So basically, the above described process is a mix of both manual management and automatic syncing, which is not possible.  It has to be one or the other.

    Hello Pokeweed
Depending on what view you have on is where your iPod nano will show up. If it is the new view, then it will be in the right hand corner next the iTunes Store button. If you have the sidebar enabled then it will be where you would expect it. If it is in neither spot, then check out the article below to get it to show up on your computer.

  • Can't delete Audiobook

I jumped from iTunes 10 to 12.0 with my new iMac. I used to be able to delete an Audible book by right-clicking the book and selecting "Delete" then either Move to Trash or Keep in Library. Now I have no way that I can see to delete a book. The delete key doesn't work, nor does command-delete. Right-clicking doesn't give the option to delete. See attached screenshot.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Just fixed it by updating to 12.0.1. Tried this earlier, but every time I got the "Update Available. Do you want to download" message, it threw me to the MAS, where iTunes was NOT listed in Updates. Had to go to downloads at apple.com

  • I can no longer delete audiobook tracks from my iphone after I have listened to them.

This capability was available in previous versons of itunes

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't have to process the php, it just has to show the HTML content. It did that just fine before the last upgrade but won't now.
I've seen that page you referenced: http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions.
It doesn't help. The things it says to look for aren't there for me, specifically:
    browser.download.pluginOverrideTypes
    plugin.disable_full_page_plugin_for_types
I followed the rest of the instructions but it didn't help.
I did get it to quit opening tabs, instead it prompts me what it should do with the file every time now. What it should do, and used to do, is open the php page and display the HTML content.
    Any other ideas?

  • Why is Edit Delete not available for audiobooks

I cannot delete audiobooks on my iPod Classic, Delete is grayed out for books but not for music. Delete is available for books on my iPod Nano. Is there a setting that would account for the difference?
If you use the Restore function does it erase all files? The warning box "All of your media and other data will be erased." sounds ominous, what does it really mean?

  • Deleting read audiobooks off my I pod

How do I delete audiobooks I have already read off of my I pod in I Tunes? They show up with unread ones when I connect my I pod with I Tunes. When I try to delete them there I Tunes refuses to delete them. Please Help

    Hi, welcome to Apple Discussions.
It should be a matter of changing the options on the Books tab when your iPod is connected. I'd guess it is currently syncing all books when selected may better suit your needs.
