Deleting "authorized" computer(s) I no longer own.

Since Apple keeps track of the number of "authorized" computers I have used for my iPod, is there any way to delete ones I no longer own? I have reached my limit now (5) with upgrades I have done and am afraid that if I upgrade again, I won't be able to authorize a new computer.

See this -> About iTunes Store authorization and deauthorization
"*To deauthorize all computers associated with your account*
If you find you have reached 5 authorizations, you can reset your authorization count by clicking *Deauthorize All* in the Account Information screen.
Click iTunes Store in the menu on the left side of iTunes.
If you're not signed in to the store, click the Account button, then enter your account name and password.
Click the Account button again (your ID appears on the button), enter your password, and then click View Account.
In the Account Information window, click Deauthorize All.
Note: You may only use this feature once per year. The Deauthorize All button will not appear if you have fewer than 5 authorized computers, or if you have used this option within the last 12 months. If you need assistance on using this feature, please contact the iTunes Store support via email (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ww/)."

  • How do I delete authorized computer that I no longer have access to?

Last October I did a "clean install" of the Lion OS (10.8.3) on my laptop and renamed my laptop. Now I have discovered that I cannot sync any purchased apps onto my iphone 4s, nor delete the ones I don't want to keep. Music can be synced but not apps. The currant computer name is authorized, but only for music and videos. My phone shows that 2 computers are authorized to sync. How do I get rid of the "old" computer name and use the "new" computer name to sync my Apps as well?

  • How can i unauthorized a computer which  i no longer own

how can i unauthorized a computer which  i no longer own

The computer has to be in your possession, or you can go to the Store and deauthorize ALL devices, and then authorize each you still have access to.

  • How do I deauthorize computer that I no longer own?

I sold my MacBook pro but never deautorized my iTunes match and now I cant authorize my new computer because I am over the limit. It tells me to deauthorize the old computer, but I no longer posses it... Please, help.

    I don't think you can.
When you have used up all your authorizations (6 I think) you can contact Adobe Live Chat and they will reset all your authorizations.
You then reauthorize the devices you still use.
Unfortunately, Adobe do not support their DRM infrastructure properly so there is no web page to view and edit your authorizations.

  • HT1420 how to remove an old authorized computer that i no longer have access to

    Hello
I want to sync my iphone to my pc, but its telling me that i can't because this pc is not authorized and i'm only able to authorize 5 pc's but i only have 3 and one i them (the one i want to use) is not authorized, so how do i deauthorize any old pc's that i had in the past

You can deauthorize all computers linked to your account once a year from the Store Account window. Then you would just authorize the new computer again.

  • Deactivate a computer I no longer own

My license entitles me to install Adobe CS3 on two systems. So, I had it on my desktop and laptop.  I recently sold my laptop, and reformatted the hard drive.  But, I forgot to deactivate CS3 before doing so.  Now I want to install it on my newer laptop, but the activation screen is telling me I've reached the number of activations.
So, my question is... How do I deactivate a computer that I no longer own?

You will need to activate by phone, and explain what has happened.  I had the issue two weeks ago after replacing a failed laptop hard drive.
Just look for the 'other activation options' when you go through the activation process.

  • How do i delete an ipod or computer i no longer own from home sharing?

I just downloaded itunes to my new laptop and tried to sign in to home sharing and it didn't let me since i  reached the max of 5 computers or devices. I dont even remember all the devices logged onto my profile. How can remove or deactivate a device i no longer own?

I don't think that there is a limit for home sharing.
I assume you mean authorizing your computer.  You can only authorize computers 5 at a time.
You will need to deauthorize all, then authorize the computers you want.

  • I need to deauthorize three computers I no longer own, but keep my computer authorization for my current computer and add a new laptop. Is there a way of doing this without having to unauthorize my current desktop which is my main music storage devic

I just purchased a new Win 8.1 laptop and want to authorize it for my iTunes library. I operate this library on a Win 7 desktop. I have three other Windows computers that I no longer own which were authorized under my iTunes account, but I can't unauthorized them because they are broken or sold. I want to have Computer Authorization for just my current desktop running Win 7 and my new laptop operating Win 8.1. How can I selectively unauthorize a computer if I no longer have it in my possession, and if I have to unauthorize all of my computers, how do I get my iTunes library of music back onto my current desktop system?

Deauthorizing the computer will not remove the content from your library. You deauthorize all, then authorize the ones you want. See this support document. Deauthorize your computer using iTunes - Apple Support

  • Homesharing - deactivate a computer I no longer own.

Regarding homesharing: I need to deactivate a computer I no longer own.  How do I do this?  I have reached my limit of 5 computers

For computers: You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. Otherwise you can "deauthorize all" from your iTunes account.
    Open iTunes on a computer
From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
Under "Computer Authorizations" select "Deauthorize All".
Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
You may only do this once per year.
After you "deauthorize all" your authorized computers, authorize each one as required.
It is also possible to have mistakenly authorized a computer more than once. To fix that:
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose "Deauthorize This Computer…"
Enter your account name and password.
Click OK. A message appears reading "This computer has been successfully deauthorized."
    Click OK.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above. If you see the same message reading: "This computer has been successfully deauthorized," then your computer was using multiple authorizations.
Repeat steps 2 through 5 above until you see a message reading "This computer was not authorized. To authorize this computer, play a song or video you have purchased using this account."

I currently have 5 computers authorized but 2 of them I no longer own.  How can I deauthorize only those 2 computers?

You cannot deauthorie a computer without access to that computer.
You can deauthorize all, then authorize the active computers.

  • 2 machines authorised to play music. How do I delete one I no longer own?

    iTunes 7.5
I have been into iTunes iTMS Apple Account Information & noticed 2 machines are authorized to play music with this account. How do I delete the one I no longer own?

Usually when I complain to the support folks I can get them to de-authorize all of my machines, then I authorize the one(s) I want. This doesn't happen often, last time was after I scrubbed a broken machine and returned it. They always scold me, tell me how bad I've been, then do the job. It should be something we can just do from our account at the store but for some reason they need to make a big deal of it.

  • How to deauthorize computer for iTunes that I no longer own

De-authorize all computers button does not appear until you actually have 5 authorized and you can only do this once a year.

  • I have an ipod 2nd gen that was synced to a computer that i no longer have access to..now when i plug it in to my current computer itunes wants to delete all my songs!!!!!

I have a ipod 2nd gen that was synced to a computer that i no longer have access to...now when i plug it in to my new computer it shows the ipod but wants to erase all my music on the ipod in order to use itunes!!!

I think that's the way it's supposed to work. When you connect to a computer that has iTunes, but is different from the computer you are normally synced to, you are asked if you want to sync to the current computer. If you say yes, it will replace the content of your iPod with what is designated to sync in the iTunes. If you say no, it will leave your content alone, but you won't be able to load any new songs, but you can still use it in disk mode as a storage device.
The exception is that you can transfer your iTunes store purchases to the new computer from the iPod, but I haven't done that myself. I'm not sure, but I don't think you can transfer non-store tracks, like those you burn from your own CDs. You have to copy those manually and then sync them onto the iPod.
Anyway, that's how it works with a 6th gen and the latest iTunes. Not sure if there is a limitation with 2nd gen.
