Deleting bookmarks the Windows way won't work on Mac?
On a Windows machine in Firefox I can left click on a bookmarks folder in the bookmark bar (or the boomarks menu itself) and a list of my bookmarks is displayed, I can travel down the list until one is highlighted and then I can right click on this and choose the option to delete that bookmark.
This will not work on a Mac, will it? When I try the same thing all that happens is that the highlighted bookmark opens, just as if I had chosen it with a left click etc.
To delete such a buried bookmark, I have to show all bookmarks and do it that way.
Pity, the Windows way is much easier.

I think you mean the Firefox way Firefox on OS X works exactly the same as the Windows version.

I have my FireFox browser set to delete all the history when I close the window. It was working for a very long time and has recently stopped with no changes to the settings. This has happened once before and I deleted FireFox and re-downloaded it, that solved the problem for a short period of time but the issue has come up again. How can I fix this?
Can you check your configuration again? Maybe something went pear-shaped somewhere. It's located in Tools | Options | Privacy and then click the Settings button (see screenshot).

Question
After a few minutes, the page down won't work without clicking the mouse pointer on the page I am reading to activate page down again. Is there a way to go back to page down working every time without having to click the page first?Today, two other users reported issues with the back-forward history list dropping down if they hovered the mouse pointer over the back or forward button -- without clicking -- and then moved the pointer downwards. One user was on a touchpad, I don't know about the other user. Are you experiencing anything like that?

When I try to delete message threads on my iPhone 5, the message app won't work until I restart my phone. Once it restarts, the message threads that I tried to delete are still there. Any advice?
I recently spoke to someone from Apple support, and here's what I gathered:
"Older" phones (read: anything iPhone 4s or older?) sometimes have trouble keeping up with the processing demands of the newest software. When deleting threads with a lot of media (photos, videos, etc), it can take a lot of processing to successfully delete. What this support tech suggested was picking some of the bigger threads at night before you go to bed, deleting them, and then leaving the phone alone-- and plugged in-- overnight to give it enough time to delete everything. He suggested not even pressing the lock button; just leave it to process (though I imagine the screen will lock on its own anyway).
Not sure if it works yet since I just spoke to him, but it's the closest thing I've got to a solution! -
I have a G5 to sell and want to erase all my data from it, but the cd drive won't work so I can't use the OS10 start up disk. Any way to do it?
Do you have another Mac? If so, you can startup this one in "Target Disk Mode" (instructions here) and connect it to another Mac to delete the home folders (or the entire drive, if that's what you want).
One piece of advise, though: after deleting the data, and of course emptying the Trash, it wouldn't hurt to also securely erase the "free space" of the drive (instructions here) before disconnecting the old Mac from the new one. This can be helpful, since "deleted" data is often retrievable with ease unles it's written over after the deletion. -

MAN, I hate the labyrinthine way PSE 11 works! Both in the program itself, and in the "support" section. This is so stupid! I just entered my question 5 minutes ago, now I have to enter it all over again. I've been trying to find an answer to my problem for 5 months! When I launch Photoshop Elements 11 - Organizer
1. A box called Elements Organizer comes up, saying it is "Updating." After a long time, it reaches 100%
2. A box called Watch Folder Service comes up, saying: "The Watch Folder Service returned and error: Message Format, Invalid Tag Id."
3. Then Photoshop is completely jammed. I cannot do anything until I use CTRL-ALT-DEL (Windows Task Manager) to shut down PSE.

I can't install itunes it says my windows installer won't work

When your username includes a Charakter like "acson te graf" zhere is a Problem for Windows to find your installiert-Files. Yust Build another Username like "Dummy", give admistration rights, change to this user and install iTunes on this accout. Now you can Return to your Old account an use iTunes.
I am still surching how to change the username in Windows but still no idea. -
My newly installed burner works fine from i-tunes, except the burned disk won't work in my car CD player. The old burner's work just fine in the car. Please help.
Using my new G5 I have the same problem, which I did not know using my old G4 with an external LaCie burner. The CD-Changer in my car is not able to read audio-cds, also my cd-player in my home hifi-system. The only way to play these audio-cds is (strange...) to put them directly in the main tuner of my car (usually used for the navigation cd), not using the Changer.
Maybe the problem really depends on the quality of the CD-Rs. I have used CD-Rs from Sony (it´s a brand, I think?) and will try Verbatim.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I updated Firefox on my Mac (10.6.8), and now history is not remembered (that option is checked) and the back button won't work. Help?
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I've just updated itunes and it has disappeared from my PC- the previous shortcut won't work and it can't locate on my file search- this is the second time this has happened when updating itunes- APPLE you seem to be going down the tubes slowly but surely..
its not apple going "down the tubes" its that you have windows junk. These opinion best left at apple.com/feedback

An App is corrupt on my iPhone. It will not delete in the usual way (jiggle then X) and it prevents the sync from completing - how can I force its removal?
Hi, Anyone who has this problem: This is now resolved on my phone simply by the prudent timing of the phone software update to 7.1. This update cleared the corrupt map and loaded the original - all my cares went away !! It looks like a Restore would probably work as well, on this basis.

IOS7 installed OK to my iPhone 4S and worked OK for a while but I have somehow managed to completely jam my iPhone 4s. The touch screen won't work except for up and down gestures (some of the time). I can't make or answer calls, I can't even power if off. I can't access the hardward ID which Apple support seems to require for Chat.
It might have happened when I was accessing my camera bypassing the lock screen!
All I know is that the thing is now useless and it looks like I will have to wait for the battery to run down to see if powering it back up afterwards will solve the problem.I have since discovered the "hold down home key and power button" together for a few seconds and this seems to have worked .... phew!

Itunes updated and now it won't work. I unstalled it and reinstalled the older version and reinstalled a older version and it still won't open. Says the itunes

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
