Deleting cn=changelog suffix

Does anybody know of any way to delete the cn=changelog suffix from the command line? dsconf delete-suffix does not work. I am using DSEE 6.3.1.
Thanks!
Enrique.

You can turn off retro changelog using dsconf, then stop instance and delete the backend if you're sure you don't want it anymore.
$ dsconf set-server-prop retro-cl-enabled:offHowever, the backend directory will get recreated at the next restart. I've logged a bug about this. Let's see what engineering have to say about this.

  • Deletion of changelog data using process chain

    Hi All,
             I have a requirement where i have to delete the changelog data for particular set of data using process chain.we have an option of deleting the entire data from changelog but how to delete only a particular set of data?????

    If you are on BI 7 than,
    Choose "Deletion of Requests from the Change Log" from process category Further BI Processes by double-clicking.
    Create a new process variant and in the variant maintenance screen select Type of Object as Change Log Table
    Under Name of object select DSO name
    Specify the requests that need to be deleted by determining the days or dates. You also have the option to specify whether you only want to delete successfully updated requests, and/or only incorrect requests that are no longer updated in an InfoProvider.

  • DSEE7 replication changelog delete

    Hello there,
    How do i delete replication changelog db in dsee7. I know in 5.2, i can put the db in readonly mode and run ldapmodify command...
    dn: cn=changelog5,cn=config
    changetype: delete
    and then add the changelog which will create a new changelog db. But in dsee7 i am not sure how to do this since there is no separate DN like above in dsee7.
    Have any one done this or know how to?
    Thanks!

    AFAIK that's pretty much how you do it in DS7. You could try a couple other things, like:
    1) Just stop the server and manually remove the changelog DB file
    2) Save off the omega tombstone (nsuniqueid=ffffffff-ffffffff-...) and then readd it after you have lost the replica state
    Though I am fairly confident neither of these is supported. Deleting the changelog file may even make your DB unusable and force you to reinitialize from LDIF, since the latest Berkeley DB is much less forgiving about tinkering with its files.
    If you are trying to shrink down the changelog to a more manageable size, and you know it is mostly empty, have you tried using the DB compaction tool? It's supposed to reclaim space in the DB files, including the changelog.

  • ChangeLog Repack Error on Sun Directory Server 6.1

    Hello,
    I am in the process of repacking our LDAP suffixes and I have run into a snagg. Currently our changelog is over 10GB in size and we recently set the max age for changelog entries to 2 months. Once all the records older than 2 months were deleted from the changelog, we proceeded to repack the changelog suffix. The repack process begins fine, however, about 5-10 minutes into the repack process I receive the following error:

    I talked with Sun today about this issue and they stated that the error I received is the result of a bug. Sun Bug ID: 6650667
    Synopsis: Cannot repack the changelog after trimming. libdb: DB_ENV->log_put: record larger than maximum file
    We can see the the following lines in your error log:
    [05/Jan/2010:00:05:03 -0500] - DEBUG - conn=-1 op=-1 msgId=-1 - libdb: DB_ENV->log_put: record larger than maximum file size (15956384 > 10485760)
    [05/Jan/2010:00:05:03 -0500] - Repacking backend 'changelog', LDAP entries error Invalid argument (22).
    [05/Jan/2010:00:05:03 -0500] - Repacking backend 'changelog' ended.
    There is no fix, and a workaround is listed as follows:
    Work Around:
    Increase nsslapd-db-logfile-size in dse.ldif (In entry "cn=config,cn=ldbm database,cn=plugins,cn=config" )
    This attribute is not present by default in the file.
    Its default value is 10485760.
    Which would make it the default as stated in the bug workaround.
    Make the change as directed above, perform the repack again and let me know the results.

  • Win 2102: existing number of virtual desktops is not valid after errors while deleting , how to fix it ?

    Hello everyone,
    I created a virtual desktop collection with a name format like this , prefix = VDI-, suffix= 1 .
    so when I created the first VMs , I had VDI-1 and VDI-2 , later after recreating the VMs, adding new ones and deleting others, the suffix numbers are no longer in sequence , like I started having VDI-1,VDI-2,VDI-8,VDI-9.
    I realized I had one problem that probably caused this, because when I delete a VM , I get a warning message:
    "RD connection broker could not delete the computer account object from active directory."
    so I searched about that error and I added the needed permissions and now deleting seems to work without any warning.
    now I have two VMs, when I go through the wizard , the first page it shows I have 2 VMs but in the second page it shows I have 11 ! is there a way to reset the count ? if I delete the entire collection and create it again , will I have any problem with the
    roaming users profiles ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
    You can specify the count for RDVH as how many desktop wants for particular host. You can do this “Specify Virtual Desktop allocation” while creating virtual desktop collection. Other than that you can also use PowerShell command to achieve your task.
    For more details you can refer beneath article.

  • Deleted Emails Do NOT go to trash (not sure where?)

    Hi. Before LEOPARD upgrade - when I hit delete for emails (POP earthlink account) they did not go to TRASH -- I ended up finding them under user/library/mail/POP/deleted messages. THEN when I upgraded to LEOPARD I could NOT hit delete to delete emails -- had to drag them to TRASH (on my MAC - but not the EARTHLINK account) -- I then unchecked the"move deleted msg to a separate folder -- and now I CAN hit the delete button to delete -- BUT 1/they don't go to TRASH and 2/ they are NOT in the user/library/mail/POP/Deleted Message -- as pre-LEOPARD
    Went to Apple Genius Bar - and was told at different times different things -- neither work -- 1/this must be a problem that they will have a patch for later? 2/for me to re-enter my account info and that this should fix it (did not)
    Any suggestions?

    Hi Ernie -- I wanted to let you know that you were correct and resolved my problem. I went to the Genius Bar -- and the issue at hand was as you said -- that my DELETED MESSAGES FOLDER did not have the .mbx suffix - so needed to create it. 1/ I went to mail and re-entered my account info (just to reset it) -- did not completely clear as this could have erased all of my messages. 2/ I then sent a mail to my SECOND POP account -- and then hit delete -- this created a new mailbox under trash. (for some reason this worked THIS time) 3/ I then went to LIBRARY/MAIL/POP2/DELETED MESSAGES and then this account DID have the correct Deleted Messages.mbx suffix. SO POP2 - working fine 4/ Backed up all emails (just in case) 5/Tried to delete a message in the POP1 account -- still would not work -- so COPIED the POP2 account Deleted Messages.mbx to Desktop and then replaced the existing POP FOLDER DELETED MESSAGES from the FIRST POP account with this.(perhaps there was an easier way to do this)? Then we ran rebuild.
    Thanks so much -- as you really helped pinpoint the problem - so when I went to the Genius Bar - I could tell them WHERE the problem was! Happy Holidays.

  • How to install iPlanet 5.0 to only hold netscape root?

    hi:
    This is a simple question. According to page 17 of the Install Guide, it is
    recommended to run a separate instance of the Dir Server to host the
    suffix o=NetscapeRoot. And this should be the first instance to be
    installed, because the other instances would refer to it.
    I understand this conceptually, but when I run the install, there seems to
    be only 2 choices:
    a) store your data and netscape root
    b) store your data and use netscape root from somewhere else.
    i.e. there is no choice to just install netscape root.
    So is the intended process here to choose option a) with some dummy suffix,
    e.g. dc=dummy at a non-standard port, and then never use the dummy suffix?
    Appreciate if someone can clarify my confusion on this process.
    Thanks,
    steve

    in addition to o=netscaperoot. I would not worry to much about that:
    what if you need to create users with special rights which would allow
    them to access the configuration tree. I would rather not put those
    entries under the o=netscaperoot tree.
    On the other hand, you can delete the extra suffix after installation.

  • I have difficulty pasting text into the file name field(prefix only) while saving files.

    OS: WinXP sp3
    FF: 3.6.3
    I have difficulty pasting text into the file name field (prefix only) while saving files. example: File name is Pic123.jpg and I want to rename it ABC123.jpg and I have ABC loaded into the WinXPsp3 clipboard. When I highlight\right-click\delete "Pic" then attempt to paste the ABC, I get either no reaction, or upon multiple paste attempts, the ABC is appended to the end of the file, after the extension, as "Pic123.jpgABC". If I delete this unwanted suffix, or repeat the process several times, eventually I can delete the unwanted portion of the prefix and paste the desired text. Sometimes it works fine first try, but mostly it takes several tries. I'm using Firefox 3.6.3 but the problem existed in whatever previous version I had too. This issue only occurs when using the delete/paste; I can always manually change the name by typing. Thank you for your help.

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • After setup I can't open itunes

    After the setup I can't open itunes:( Please, help!

    This sounds like your shortcut is still pointing to iTunes 7 (assuming you upgraded to version 8). Find the version 8 application and it should work.
    The problem with the Mac version 8 is that it crashes consistently at startup, and the solution to that is ditching the new library files and reverting to the most recent version 7 library (copy from from the Previous iTunes Library directory and delete the date suffix).
    There was a known issue with proxies settings in earlier versions of 7 that has apparently been reintroduced in version 8.
    Way to go, Apple.

  • Replication between change log

    We are trying to implement replication on change log suffix between 2 SunOne directory servers. Currently, the replication is setup and to test the same, we tried to make a change on one particular server. I noticed that the change was being created with 2 change numbers on the actual server where the change was made & had 1 entry in the changelog of the replication server. Is that the expected behaviour? We were expecting the changeNumber for both the servers to be in sync. How do we achieve that?
    Thanks in advance

    The replication protocol has ways of determining order. The csn has timestamps in it as well as the replica from which a change originated. It's far too detailed to write here and I'm not sure I'm even allowed to do it. If there is a specific instance or case in where replication is not working properly, then we might have something to talk about.
    In summary, my suggestion is to not replicate the changelog suffix. Each changelog is for that database of that instance only.

    I wonder if this is related to the previous version issue with Acrobat 8 that displayed the same or similar error?
    Here is the text from a very old document for Acrobat 8 KB if you want to try it but I don't know if it will work
    Error: "You have entered an invalid serial number..." when you try to launch Acrobat 8 Standard on a Dell computer
    Issue
    When you try to launch Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard on a Dell computer, the program returns the error message, "You have entered an invalid serial number. Please re-install Adobe Acrobat 8 Standard and enter a valid serial number when asked."
    Solution
    Check the alm_config_files folder for a duplicate AdobeConfig.xml file.
    Navigate to the following folder:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 8.0\Acrobat\alm_config_files
    The following two files should appear in this folder:
    AdobeConfig.xml
    AdobeConfig.xml.aiwbf
    Delete the AdobeConfig.xml file.
    Rename the AdobeConfig.xml.aiwbf to AdobeConfig.xml by deleting the "aiwbf" suffix.
    Launch Acrobat 8 Standard.
    Additional Information
    On some Dell computers, a duplicate AdobeConfig.xml file is created when Acrobat 8 Standard is installed. The AdobeConfig.xml file without the "aiwbf" suffix is written for a volume-license version. The correct AdobeConfig.xml file is given the suffix. When a retail version of Acrobat tries to read the volume-license AdobeConfig.xml file, Acrobat returns the error.

  • Getting, setting contents of a field, whose name is parsed out of target path

    It seems that every scripting language I start using, it all goes back to this problem.  How do I evaluate a string as a variable name or text field name, and get or set the contents of that variable or text field?
    Here's my attempt so far:  Where do I go off the rails?  Thanks in advance for your help.
    var mySelf:Person = new Person ("Enter Your Name", "Enter Your Email", "Enter Your Phone");
    //Person is an external class file.  The variables in it are named "_HomName, _HomEmail, _HomPhone."
    //I name the on screen text fields "HomName_txt, HomName_txt, HomPhone_txt.)
    var keyListener:Object = new Object ();
    keyListener.onKeyDown = function () {
    if (Key.isDown (Key.TAB)) {
      saveData(parseTarget (Selection.getFocus ()));
    Key.addListener (keyListener);
    function parseTarget (atarget) {
    var my_str:String = atarget;
    var my_array:Array = my_str.split (".");
    trace (my_array[1]);
    return my_array[1];
            function parseName(aname)
            //to delete the _something suffix off of a target hame
      var my_str:String = aname;
    var my_array:Array = my_str.split ("_");
    trace (my_array[0]);
    return my_array[0];
             function saveData(mystring)
             //to save data from a field or other onscreen container into class object var
             trace("What's in _HomName? " + mySelf._HomName);  //This returns "Enter Your Name"
    myvar = parseName(mystring);
    trace("Name from item " + myvar);
    myclassvar =  "_" + myvar;
    //this["var"+i] = "first"
    this["mySelf."+ myclassvar] = this[mystring + ".text"]
    trace ("whats in the class variable " + myclassvar + "? " + this["mySelf."+ myclassvar])  //this returns "undefined"

    You're welcome... Think of the brackets as including/implying a "." ahead of them, but a "." inside them isn't seen as an object divider.
    just as an added bit of info... If you ever need to string string evaluations, say for something like...
    this.movieclip1.movieclipA.property = x;
    where 1 and A would be some variable, then it would look like...
    this["movieclip"+var1]["movieclip"+varA].property = x;

  • Script for checking the replication process in Netscape Directory Sever 4.1

    Hi,
    We are using Netscape Directory Server 4.1.6 in our production environment. Where we want to know is there any script available to check the replication process. Or can we write a script to check the process.
    Waiting for your replies at the earliest.
    Thanks,
    Syed A.

    Hi Syed,
    Replication state is very easy to see in 4.x and earlier. The last changenumber in the supplier changelog is visible (on the root DSE IIRC), and each consumer suffix has an operational attribute "copiedfrom" that tells you the name of the supplier, the database generation id, and the last change replayed from the supplier.
    So a script that compares the results of
    ldapsearch -h <supplier> -s base -b "" "objectclass=*" lastchangenumber
    and
    ldapsearch -h <consumer> -s base -b <base_suffix> "objectclass=*" copiedFrom
    will show you if a replica has fallen out of sync. It won't tell you more than how many changes behind the replica is, though, because pre-5.x changenumbers are sequential integers, not timestamps.
    However, the change that corresponds to the changenumber is clearly visible under the "cn=changelog" suffix. So if you look at the change itself you can see the timestamp on it.
    For more info on the status of replication, you should be able to query the agreements on the supplier. Those live under the "Netscape Machine Data Suffix", which you can also find on the supplier's root DSE:
    ldapsearch -h <supplier> -s base -b "" "objectclass=*" netscapemdsuffix
    And of course the error logs will usually tell you if replication is failing outright.
    I may be off on some of the attribute names, but if you do some investigating along these lines, you should be able to figure it out.
