Deleting content in icloud

How do I delete content stored in iCloud?

Delete it from the iCloud apps on any of your synced devices or from iCloud.com.
It will be deleted from all your devices and iCloud.

  • How to delete content in iCloud, not devices

I wanted to put all my notes from Notability on my iPad on to my Mac, eventually everything synced, but now I have about 2GB of documents related to Notability in my iCloud storage. I can delete specific notes but by doing this, it deletes it on my devices. How do I delete it from the cloud, but KEEP it on my devices?

Using your computer's browser, log into icloud.com and look at each of the pages to delete data.

  • How do I delete contents from my iCloud account  to free- up space

Recently i replaced my damaged iPhone with a new one. I could restore the contents to new phone. But now I am not able to update the iCloud from my new phone as it says that "Not enough space". This leads to the question - how do i remove all the contents in my iCloud account?
Also when I login into my iCloud account using PC, I see there are 2 phones shown against my account and I am not able to delete one of them?
Any tips for both these issues.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
You can delete contents in your iCloud storage from your device using settings > iCloud > storage & backup > manage storage. Swipe the individual content to the left to reveal the delete button.

My iPhone 5 has broken and is being replaced with a new iPhone tomorrow. However, My carrier (orange) will b picking up my broken iPhone and I am unsure how to secure the content and icloud data on the broken phone. Is there a way to disable the data held on it and ensure that if it is fixed, nobody can use/see my data and access my account?

    Hi Gazpan,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend using the steps in this article to back up your iPhone if possible:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

If you no longer have your iOS device
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.
If you're unable to complete either of the above steps, you should change your Apple ID password. Changing your password won't remove any personal information that is cached on the device, but it will make sure that the new owner can't delete your information from iCloud.
    Cheers,

  • Delete Account under iCloud

Under iOS6 > System Preferences > iCloud there is a delete account button. Will this delete my whole iCloud account or just the setup of icloud and it's content on this device?

Merely deletes the iCloud account on your device, nothing more. The data will still exist at iCloud.com unless you delete that as well.

  • How to delete an existing Icloud account?

I am using Ipad Mini Retina.
I want to delete an existing ICloud account that made in the very first set up of my Ipad. I cannot remember the password of this ICloud account.
I am now using another Apple ID.
My Ipad when updated into iOS8, always ask me to key in the password for the old ICloud account, this is very irritated.

If the old Apple ID keep popping up maybe because you have apps that uses that Apple ID.
You need to delete those apps and re-purchase them again using the new Apple ID.
Note: Content bought using an Apple ID cannot be merged or transferred to another Apple ID.

  • Deleting texts from icloud

Is there a way to delete text messages, phone calls, etc. from icloud? I don't necessarily want my teenaged daughter to be able to have access to what my husband and I text each other, but I recently found out she can see them!

Any new account that you create for your daughter, will be created in an empty state.
It isn't quite clear to me how details of texts and telephone calls got onto your daughter's device, did you do a restore from a backup or something. In the case of texts, it is possible for messages from iMessage to be received on different devices when the message app is set to use an e-mail address that is used by others, this might explain some of the text messages she has on her device but not anything else.
You may need to delete content that is already on her device, but once a new account is in use, she shoulodn't get anymore.

  • Help deleting things from Icloud

How can you delete items from your Icloud using your laptop to free space on your Ipad?

Nothing in iCloud takes up storage capacity on your iPad except for the items that are already on the iPad. iCloud is a backup for your iPad, its not a storage drive in the cloud. If you want to make room on the iPad go to Setting>General>Usage>Storage. You can delete apps, but if you do, you delete the data as well. You can delete movies and TV shows. Most movies and TV shows can be downloaded again for free as long as you use the same Apple ID. And they are the biggest space hogs on the iPad anyway.
You do not need your laptop to do this. But it would probably be a good idea to backup your iPad and transfer purchases into iTunes before you delete content in the iPad and then you don't have to worry about downloading them again, since all of your content will be in your iTunes library.

I know there is a way to view/retrieve deleted emails from the iPhone via the searchlight/spotlight feature.  However, once iCloud is set up on the iPhone where can I view deleted emails as it appears that iCloud does not show up on the searchlight/spotlight feature.  Am I able to view/retrieve deleted emails once iCloud is set up?  Thanks!

I think I may have answered the question myself here ->

  • Nothing happens when i touch Manage Storage. I ned to delete content to free more memory.

Nothing happens when I touch Manage Storage in iCloud on My iPhone. I need to delete content to free more memory.

Because that manages cloud storage, not storage on the phone itself.

  • How do I delete a current icloud account so I can try again to set one up using my original apple id?

when I first downloaded the os icloud would not allow me to use my existing apple id to create an account. this even though the id is an email account. so I went ahead and established a new one. now I realize that was a poor choice. shoud I just delete the new iCloud account and try again to use my existing apple id?
will deleting the current iCloud account cause any issues with my iPad apps?
    Thanks

OK found the answer in anothe discussion thread. On iPad, delete existing account by going to settings-iCloud-and tap red delete account bar. Sign in with the Apple id you want to use. This worked for me this time. Even though when I first tried to set up the iCloud account, I got error messages and thus was forced into creating the new id.
    Anyhow, success.

  • Delete contacts from icloud, but not from iphone

I want to delete all my contacts and calendar appointments from iCloud, but not from my iphone, and i still want to have iCloud turned on in the future.
I have tried to delete the iCloud account from my iphone but when i log in to iCloud.com from a computer the contacts are still there even though i deleted the iCloud account.
How do i remove these things only from iCloud?

I fixed it, i had to turn off the syncing of the contacts and the calendar on the phone and then delete them from iCloud. Obviously if i turn on the syncing of these items again the contacts and calendar appointments will reappear in iCloud.
    So problem solved.

  • Cannot delete old iPad iCloud backup "because it is in use"

I previously owned an iPad 3 which I sold a few weeks ago. After buying an iPad Air, I restored it from the iPad 3 backup in iTunes, and now I want to delete the iCloud backup of the old iPad 3. However, when trying to delete the iCloud backup I get the popup:
"This backup cannot be deleted because it is in use."
I've tried to delete the iPad 3 iCloud backup both from my iPad Air and on my iPhone 5 devices, but the same popup appear. Worth mention is that after buying the iPad Air, I first tried to set it up from the iPad 3 iCloud backup, but all items wasn't fully restored, so decided to restore the new iPad Air from the iPad 3 backup in iTunes.
Is the anyone who has experience the issue of not being able to delete an old iCloud backup? How can I try to solve it? I've tried to restart my devices and I've also deleted both my iPhone 5 iCloud backup and my new iPad Air backup, but it's still not possible to delete the old iPad 3 backup.

Hi, I'm having the same issue.  I found this in the Apple Support page
You'll be notified if a backup is in use.
If you try to delete a backup but get an alert that the backup is in use, wait 48 hours before trying again. A backup is considered in use if it was recently created by another iOS device or is being restored by another iOS device. If you can't delete the backup after 48 hours, contact Apple Support.

    Hope this helps.
