Deleting email on iPad, iPhone and IMac questions

Our current settings have deleted email removed after 1 day and remove from server is set at never.
If we change the settings to remove from the server on the iPad and iPhone, will we loose it on the IMac or will it still be available?
We get a lot of duplicate emails to delete and don't want to use ICloud at all until we feel our info is safe.
Thank you for your help!

Multiple devices on a pop account are slow death.  I finally dumped Comcast and a 20 yr e mail address over the issue.
If you delete from server, and the Mac has not yet gone and gotten the message, it is gone.  The only way to manage mail across multiple devices is to use an I map account.  You can read, delete, save and archive messages from any of the devices, and the action is replicated across all.
( the cloud is not the answer, although, in a broad sense, I map is all ready in the cloud....)
See if your ISP offers both impa and pop options.  If so, all you need to do is flip your account to iMac.  If not, then forever you will be getting and deleting duplicate copies of the same messages, and if you start deleting from the server, you will begin to lose stuff you thought you wanted to keep.
Keep in kind that the pad will delete stuff out of your inbox when you reach the limit on the number of items you specified in settings.

Probably. Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before installing it.

  • How to delete my email on my iPad and have it automatically delete the same email on my iPhone and iMac?

How to delete an email on an apple device and have that deleted email automatically delete from my iPhone and iMac?

You need an IMAP type email account a opposed to POP 3. Google the two words together to find out more.

  • TS3899 hi - why can't i delete emails once from iphone and ipad at the same time?

When I delete emails from the iphone they still appear in the ipad. Why? How can I delete from both devices at the same time?

You can and it should be automatic depending on your refresh rate.  If your phone and iPad refresh every hour, or only on request, then the iPad will not show the change until you refresh the email account.
Next time you delete emails, try it....Refresh the screen on the iPad.
This only works if iPad has internet connection.

  • ICloud mail on iPad, iPhone, and iMac - it disappears

I've seen a lot of people asking about this, but no solutions that suit my version of the issue.
I have an iPad 2, iPhone 4s, and an iMac that's 1 year old, exactly. All are set up for iCloud mail, and I'm using Entourage as the mail client on the iMac. I don't expect anyone here to debug Entourage for me, but I did follow the instructions on apple.com for setting up iCloud on a mail client like Entourage, as IMAP, etc.
What happens is, I get emails on the phone and the iPad, but I don't 100% trust that I'm getting them all. But, if I pull the IMAP mail in Entourage, the email shows up and then some of it (not all of it) disappears. The phone, the ipad, and Entourage all end up in sync, but missing the same emails for no reason. There is no setting on the phone or ipad to 'move' or 'copy' emails after they are read. And I don't have any rules or settings in Entourage to do anything like that, either. I assume this has something to do with IMAP mail-handling that is unfamiliar to me, but I'm not sure what it would be. There is no setting anywhere to say, 'just leave the mail where it is', or 'move the mail somewhere else'.
On the iPad, i can't even check webmail for iCloud, because it won't do anything but show me a page withe 'setup, install find my iphone, or install find my friends' as options. No login, no logout, no option to view mail or docs or anything else.
All of this seems like it can't be normal or intended behavior. I really don't trust iCloud email anymore, and maybe the only answer is to not use Entourage. But I use that to pull gmail, yahoo, aol, and other POP mail accounts, so having to open 'Mail' just to read my mac.com mail seems like an unnecessary nuisance.
    Any ideas?

So, I've noticed that in Entourage, the messages don't 'disappear'. They are moved to the normal Inbox and deleted from the new Inbox that was created when I set up the new IMAP account. If I set preferences to only *mark* the messages rather than 'delete' them, then they stay in the IMAP Inbox with red 'x' marks next to them, and they show up in the normal Inbox, marked as 'read'.
However, once that happens, and I don't know why it happens, then the messages are deleted from the iPad and iPhone immediately, and they're not moved anywhere else; just deleted from those devices.
Again, the iPad won't let me view webmail, but at least I know what's happening in Entourage.

  • Accessing BT Internet email on IPAD/IPHONE and oth...

I am getting increasingly frustrated with inconsistent access to emails. When viewing on our main laptop, it seems to be OK but from other laptops (via webmail) or on IPAD/IPHONE or ANDROID many messages never come through and especially if they have been accessed on the main laptop - it seems to have a priority setting which then means the messages never appear on the other devices ? I can think of no reson for this and have tried various set up options and checks - I cannot believe I am the only person suffering from this. Any help much appreciated.

If you are using POP3 access on your laptop, you need to make sure that the e-mail program is configured to leave a copy on the server. Otherewise they will be downloaded, then deleted off the server, so your other devices will not see the messages.
Alternatively, you would have to setup your e-mail program to use IMAP and not POP3.

  • HT1277 can I delete emails from my IPhone and the server as well?

Can I delete emails from both my IPhone 5 and the server as well?

It's very easy to do - open up the music app, find the song/artist/album you want to delete and then swipe on it right to left and press 'delete'. Once you have done this it will take up no more space on your device whether it's in the cloud or not.
If the song is still appearing in the music app with a little cloud next to it then you can stop it from showing by going into settings, music, and turning off 'show all music'. Note that this will remove ALL songs from the music app that have the cloud next to it (the cloud means they are in the cloud, online, but not stored on the device) and if you want to play them you will have to open itunes and redownload it, or change this setting back to on.

  • Why does Apple Bluetooth not work? iPad iPhone and iMac

Quick post, Bluetooth won't work on my new ipad air, trying to connect to sound bar, works on all other non apple devices!?
Have iMac, ipad 2, ipad air and iPhone, non of the apple devices have ever worked properly when trying to use Bluetooth?
Can someone help, already tried apples troubleshooting, no joy!
Apple seriously get on this, your products are way too expensive for basic features not to be working!?

There are various issues, both accessing this forum using iDevices as well as even on the PC/Mac side. The issues seems to be the fault of the forum software itself (Jive software) so there's not much that can be done about it other than wait for fixes (which we've been doing for quite awhile now).

  • HT4864 Can I delete email on my iPhone and have my ipad also delete them on its own?

Can I delete mail on my ipad and have it tell my iPhone to delete it automatically?
I thought this is what iCloud would do?

You're welcome.  If you're using a POP account, not even a 10 year old can help you.   You'll have to get an IMAP account (such as iCloud email, Gmail or Yahoo), then forward your old account to your new one until your contacts learn to use your new email address.

  • TS3899 I want to delete email msgs from iphone and computer at the same time?

If I delete a mess from my Iphone, it doesn't delete from my computer. How do I sync one with the other?

It sounds as if the mail account you are using is a POP account. Who is the email provider? If it is a POP account, then you cannot do what you are asking.

  • How to delete a Gmail email from the iphone and have it remain on the iMac?

I use Gmail and have the email accounts set up as "imap". I would like to be able to delete emails from my iPhone 5, yet have them remain on the server. I read on the internet that it can only be done by changing the accounts from imap to pop3 accounts. However, since I also have an iMac and an iPad 3, I still want to be able to sync these so the emails can be retrieved on any of the devices.
I supose that the only way to do this is to remain with "imap" accounts. But, there may be another problem. I was under the assumption that once the iPhone reaches a total of 200 messages, it will start to delete any above this amount. In this case, I will start to lose my messages on the server. Even if this is not the case, I don't want the mobile devices to end up with hundreds of emails that I would like saved.
My question is this: How can I save the emails from the Gmail account to a separate set of folders that will archive these forever (if I choose)?  Can a folder be set up on the iMac with subfolders for each category that I want? If so, how is the actual move of the email done? Can it be copied to the new folder immediately so that later when it is deleted from the Gmail account, it is permanently saved in the new Mac folder?    Thanks

    Hello Kailua,
I know that you can mirror you iPhone's display onto a Apple TV, as can you with the Mac, but I do not think you can mirror your iPhone to your iMac.
    Sincerely,
    Devin

I have an iMac desk top, iPad, and two iPhones. Someone (a family relative) has somehow copied text messages, and possibly emails from our iPhones, and sent them to other people. Whose Apple ID are you using? It sounds like whoever co-opted the account may have changed the security questions as well.
    Follow the instructions here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5665
What should I do if I don't remember the answers to my Apple ID security questions?
Try answering them at least once to see if you can get them right, even if you are not sure you remember the answers to your security questions.
If you are confident you can't remember them, try one of the following:
If you have three security questions and a rescue email address
sign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to send an email to your rescue email address to reset your security questions and answers.
If you have one security question and you know your Apple ID passwordsign in to My Apple ID and select the Password and Security tab to reset your security question.
If you have one security question, but don't remember your Apple ID password
contact Apple Support for assistance. Learn more about creating a temporary support PIN to help Apple confirm your identity when you contact Apple Support.
Note: If you have forgotten your password and answer your security questions incorrectly too many times in a row, you will be unable to try to answer your security questions for a period of time. During that time you will not be able to reset your password and will not have access to your account.
