Deleting emails from all devices

How do I sync emails to delete from desktop when I del them from the iPhone and vice versa?

Requires an IMAP or Exchange account, not possible with a POP account.

    Hi there!
    Do the following
    message.setFlag(Flags.Flag.DELETED,true);
    folder.close(true);
    store.close();
these 3 statements will delete email from the mail server.
get back to me after u try this.

  • Does icloud delete email on all devices

Does icloud delete email on all devices?

iCloud doesn't.  Whether or not this happens depends on the type of email account you are using.  If you are using an IMAP email account such as iCloud email, Gmail or Yahoo, or an Exchange email account, when you delete an email (or read one or move it to a folder) on one device you will see these changes on your other devices.  If, on the other hand, you are using a POP/POP3 email account, you won't see these changes on your other devices.

  • Deleting emails from all of my devices

I have to delete my emails from each device set up on my email address (iphone, ipad and macbook pro).  Is there any way that I can delete the emails from one and have it delete from all of my devices so that I don't have to do it three times?

Not with an antiquated POP account which is designed to be accessed with a single email client.

  • How to delete emails on all devices simultaneously

Cannot find the answer to my question and probably won't be able to ask using the correct terminology, but...
I have a mac laptop, iphone, and ipad as well as a mobile me account. I also have three email accounts set up on each of these devices through the mail application (me.com, hotmail, and gmail)
I am trying to figure out how to delete emails simultaneously from all devices when I delete it on one device. For example: I delete an email I read on my ipad from my hotmail account and want it it disappear from the inbox on my iphone and laptop. As it is now I have to delete messages separately from all devices... meaning I have to waste time reviewing messages I have already decided to throw away.
Can anyone offer help on how to accomplish this.
    Thanks,
    Jason

Actually, Yahoo is Imap (as is google).  but the point remains - if you are using a pop account, you need to delete the mail from each device.(pop is basically a one way system).  If you have an imap account, changes you make of one device are communicated to all your other devices.

  • Deleting emails from multiple devices

I don't understand if I delete an email from my iPhone, iPad or iMac why I have to repeat that deletion on the other devices. They are all up to date software-wise and in the cloud. Can anyone please help?

Comcast email is a POP system, it does not sync between devices, any devices.
Comcast have recently begun a test program for Imap on their email, and Imap does sync so contact Comcast and ask to be enrolled in the program, or wait for them to offer it to you.

  • Deleting emails on all devices

    Hi,
Not sure if I've done something wrong since the OS2 upgrade but if noticed that if I delete emails either from my phone or playbook it has been deleting them in my BT email account. Obviously when being asked I'm choosing the delete on "Handheld" option not "Mailbox & Handheld" .
    Any suggestions ?

This has already been discussed at great length in this forum.
The new OS-2 built-in email client only offers the Delete function.  Unfortunately, it deletes it from the server as well.  I found my deleted emails in my trash bin on my work desktop.
Recommend if you want to keep those emails, go through the process of filing them in a folder.
There WILL be times when you'll hit that delete and then explitives will abound as the mail is gone from the server when all you wanted to do was delete it from your PB.

  • Would be nice for Apple to create means for deleting email across all devices. Time consuming device by device especially for members receiving many emails. What do you think gang?!

How about Apple creating a means to delete email across devices especially when you have like 4 Apple devices (Mac, Macbook Pro, iPad and iPhone) Would benefit those of us receiving 13 - 1700 messages across the products. iOS 8 coming in fall. What do you think gang. Very frustrating and time consuming!!

If you have a suggestion for product improvement, provide feedback to Apple - you aren't talking to them here.

  • HT5361 Deleting email from 2 devices?

When I delete an email from the list while using desktop Mac, it still shows up later when I use iPad. How do I get it to delete completely?

E-mail provider and are the accounts POP or IMAP? If POP, you can go to Mail/Preferences/Accounts/Advanced and check remove message from server so it won't download both places.

  • Delete email on all device

Ipad,Iphone ,Macbook. I'm on Icloud but I still need to delete mails 3 times!! is that normal? could be possible to delete once and then the devices "talk" one to another? thanks stefania

    Welcome to the Apple community.
Only your iCloud email account will do this through I cloud. Any other email accounts that you hold must be IMAP accounts in order for this to occur.

  • Deleting messages from all devices

Since updating my iPhone 5 to iOS 8 and iMac to Yosemite, I am receiving my iMessages on both my iPhone and iMac. How do I stop this? I am aware of how to shut off iMessage, but then it only seems to allow for SMS texts only on my iPhone.

  • How can get emails on all devices?

How can get emails on all devices? When I read an email on my mac, my iphone doesn't download it. How can I change that setting?? I need to have all emails and all my devices!

It sounds like your using a POP3 email account versus IMAP. With a POP3 account if you do not have the settings configured to leave email on the server the problem you describe will occur. With Outlook 2010 (on a PC for example) you can go into the account settings and configure to leave email on the server. That way both devices will see the email. Check help for your Mac email program for instructions...

A better solution is if your email provider uses IMAP. IMAP sync email folders between multiple devices. Meaning any device will receive the email, all sent email can be seen on the devices. If you delete email from one device the email is deleted from all the other devices. Check with your email provider to see if they offer IMAP services.
If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the Mac as illustrated in the link above or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples).

FWIW I use Cox IMAP email and fully sync email between a Win 8.1 Update 1 laptop, a Win 7 desktop, an iPad 4, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S.

  • With icloud, if i delete emails on one device, shouldn't they be deleted on my other devices?

I have 2 IPads and an IPhone all hooked up with icloud. If I delete emails from one device, shouldn't they be deleted from all 2 devices?

Yes ... they would be deleted from all devices ... IF ...
You are using an iCloud email account.  Simply having iCloud turned on on each of your devices is not enough.  You must also be using the iCloud email account to achieve this behavior.

  • Why are my emails not deleting from all devices when deleted from one?  I have iCloud set up and turned on. I have ipad2, iphone5 and a Mac. What am I doing wrong?  Thank you

Why are my emails not deleting from all devices when deleted from one?  I have iCloud mail set up and turned on. I have ipad2, iPhone 5 and a Mac desktop. What am I doing wrong?  Thank you.

It depends on the type of email account you are using, not on iCloud.  If you are using an IMAP or exchange account, when you delete from one device, it is deleted from all devices.  If you are using a POP (POP3) account, it won't.  (iCloud email, Gmail and Yahoo are all IMAP accounts.)
