Deleting Existing Mail Accounts When Applying Config Profile

Ok, this might be kind of an easy one for some of you, but we can't seem to figure it out.
WITHOUT doing a remote wipe on the user's iPhone prior to installing our Profile(Made in the iPhone Configuration Utility), is there a way to have the Profile remove any and all existing email accounts when installed?
Here's our situation --
We have numerous un-managed iphones connecting to our OWA for email, now we want to manage them, so our policy is changing, they must have our profile installed. What's wrecking our vibes is when we install the profile on our test phone, the existing mail account is still useable. Now we are changing URLs because we're moving to a 2010 exchange system, but the old URL still works, it just redirects the person to the 2010 system...
So what we need is a way to remove the existing mail profiles completely, even if it wipes their GMAIL or YAHOO. It's fine, it's in the document they sign granting us permission to do so... or do we have to wipe their device completely prior, and if so, is there a way the profile when installed could wipe the device?
Thanks!

  • Can't Delete A Mail Account

Mail Help says to highlight the Account in Preferences/Accounts and just press the Delete button. Well, that doesn't work. Anyone know of a method for deleting an existing mail account that does work?

I've clicked on every Delete and sign on the keyboard, each individually, in rapid succession, and simultaneously. The only thing that happens is I hear ding-ding sound each time I press any one of them or more of those keys. I admit that the sign threw me when I first saw it, but I think I've tried every possible key and key combination. Any other ideas for how to delete an Email account?

  • Mail app will not open at all. I cannot even delete a mail account.  Wondering if daylight savings time has caused an issue.

When I click on the mail app it either immediately crashes and brings me back to the home screen or it opens briefly and tried to download all previous emails and crashes in the middle.  When I try to delete a mail account it says it can't because it is syncing.  I closed mail using the double click (which only shows a black white box) and I have rebooted three times.  The time changed today.  Could it be a bug?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folders. In OS X 10.9 there are two sandboxes, while in 10.8 there is only one. If you're running a version older than 10.8, this comment isn't applicable.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.MailServiceAgent
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • I'm having problems with excessive email usage on my iphone 4/ios 7. Just noticed that (settings/usage) it was using 900  mb. I deleted all my mail, deleted the mail account, and it still says it's using 661 mb. My ipad uses a fraction of that.

I'm having problems with excessive email usage on my iphone 4/ios 7. Just noticed that it (settings/usage) was using 900+ mb. I deleted all my mail, deleted the mail account, turned the phone off and back on, downloaded any remaining mail on the server to Outlook on my computer, and it still says it's using 661 mb. My ipad uses a fraction of that.
Background: I recently (December) bought an ipad and set up icloud for contacts and calendar, but NOT mail. My email provider is Verizon. I use computer, iphone, and ipad to check my email; eventually I download it from the server using Outlook on the computer and then delete any remaining emails from the phone and ipad. I can't find info on this problem anywhere.

    Howdy there COUGAR444,
It sounds like your iPad all of a sudden seems to be restarting out of no where. If you haven't called AppleCare yet, I would start with quitting either the app that seems to be causing the issue, or all the apps if a single doesn't seem to be the culprit.
iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If the issue persists, backup your device to iTunes, then restore it as new and verify that it works.
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups
If it does, then restore your backup to either verify it still works and the software just needed reinstalled, or isolate the issue to the backup file itself.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

You're saying this is happening on a Mac??  Find My iPhone is a feature of iOS devices, not Macs.  If you are trying to change the iCloud ID on an iOS device, you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted.  If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • HT1688 I am having issues get my email in one of my mail accounts so I tried to "DELETE" the whole account.  But my phone will not delete a mail account.  And the phone is getting really hot and battery was full 2 hours ago and now at 25%.

Well, you don't say what happens when you try to delete the account. So I don't know what else to recommend. However, if your phone is not charging, is that the mains charger or the computer USB? Also, if it not showing any change to battery percentage, then something is wrong with the software. The next step in user troubleshooting after the reset is a restore from backup. However, considering the condition of the phone right now, I would be more than willing to say your backup is going to be corrupt. But you can try. If that does not fix the device, then you restore as new, not from a backup. If the phone works, then you can try restoring the backup again, but if it messes up, you are going to have to restore as new again. If the restore as new does not work, then you need to make an appointment at the Genius Bar or Authorized Apple Service Provider to get the hardware checked.

  • Deleting a Mail Account But Keeping the Mail From That Account

I want to delete a Mail Account. But, I want to keep all of the email that was associated with that account. If I move the email to another folder within Mail, will that do the trick?

    Stephen Levin wrote:
    OK, I'm totally confused.
Here is what I normally do:
Check my email (all POP accounts).
    It comes into my inbox.
As I deal with a message, I move it from my Inbox to the appropriate folder On My Mac.
That way I end up with just a few emails in my Inbox at any time.
The way I move my messages is I select them and I drag them to the appropriate folder On My Mac.
I know this deletes them from the Inbox and adds them to the folder I am moving them to.
that's moving. when you copy, the original remains in the inbox and a copy is added to the destination folder.
But, I'm pretty sure that when I do so, the Activity Window says I am copying them.
I have several email accounts that people email me at. When I file messages away, they are all mixed up in the folders On My Mac. I have no idea which ones came from which Accounts.
Given all of the above info, if I delete one of my Accounts, will Mail delete some of the emails I have filed away in the folders On My Mac? I think the answer is No, but would like to confirm.
No, once you've moved an email to a local mailbox in "on my mac" it's completely separated from its original email account. if you delete an account it will have no effect on those messages.
I think that the only mail that Mail will delete is the email in the Inbox, Trash, Outbox, and Sent Mail for that Account, but am looking for confirmation.
    that's correct.
If that is the case, I don't care about the Trash, I'll make sure the Outbox is empty, and I'll move all of the messages for that Account out of the Inbox and Sent Mail before I delete the Account.
What do you think, will that work?
yes. sorry for confusing you before. This should work just fine.
My suggestion was simply that you copy messages instead of moving them as you've been doing. once the copy is successful you can delete the originals or just delete the account and the originals with it. you don't have to do it but that's a safer operation then moving them directly when you have to do it with a lot of messages at once. That's all. I've seen posts by people who were trying to move large numbers of emails between mailboxes and had Mail choke on the operation. that can result in a loss of emails.
If not, how can I hide the Account I'm no longer planning on using. Right now Mail keeps trying to check it every time I check my Mail and I get that broken icon next to the folders.
In case the OS matters, I'm running the latest version of 10.5 on a Power PC.
    Thanks!

  • HT4898 How can I continue sync my various Mail Accounts when I move to iCloud?

How can I continue sync my various Mail Accounts when I move to iCloud?

I wasn't aware that you could sync other mail accounts with MobileMe, other than their settings. If you are referring to settings, then they should already be set up on your mobile device, any new accounts would need to be added manually.
POP accounts will continue to receive and send e-mail but will not sync (so for example if you delete an e-mail on one device it won't be deleted on the other), IMAP/exchange accounts will continue to function as they always have.

  • Deleting old Mail accounts

I need to delete an old discontinued mail account - when I do so will I lose all my archived emails?

Marc, I have the same question; I hope you don't mind if I seek clarification. So sitspotsit, let me see if I understand you correctly. I have moved all of my messages from my inbox into folders and subfolders under the "On My Mac" heading in mail. If I now delete the account to which these emails were sent, the messages will vanish from the folders (I guess they are technically called mailboxes)? Also, I have archived these mailboxes, and have them stored in my documents folder (not the mail app). Deleting the account shouldn't delete my archived messages, should it? Thanks.

How can I delete my Icloud account when I don't know the password and no longer have the email address associated with it?
You need your password to delete it and I need the email address to reset the password.  I feel like I'm going in circles!!!  Please help!!!

Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address (you shouldn't need to verify the old account).  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

What about the fontbook not being able to resolve duplicates?
    Try deleting the 'com.apple.FontBook.plist' file.
    HD/Users/yourhome/Library/Preferences/ com.apple.FontBook.plist
any other fnts that can commonly cause problems besides the few that are mentioned all the time?
These two can cause problems 'Times Phonetic' -- 'Rougue Stencil-Type' but probably checked for them.
