Deleting extra content

Hi,
I have one (hopefully simple) question. I logged some content from my camera to final cut pro. I edited what I want of it. I DO NOT want the extra footage stored on my computer. only whats in final cut pro time line. can anyone advise me how to just delete the content thats not in the timeline.
thank you,

powermac quad 2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)   2 gb ram 250 gb HD Quadro FX video card

thank you. I will read up on it. And just incase I
didnt make myself clear. I am trying to delete ALL
CONTENT except what is in the timeline. you were both
helpful, but I think I will pull the manual out
Yeah -- I think it's clear. Don't touch the material in your scratch disk until you've Media Managed your material. It deals with creating new projects... making clips independent... etc. Lots of steps to do what you would THINK is a simple process.
Careful!!
Good luck,

Oh -- OR -- you could just File - Export - Quicktime Movie - Current settings, selfcontained. This way you'll have a full resolution movie of what you edited. THEN you can trash your captured material. Make sure it's self-contained or if you trash the material you won't be able to watch the movie!!
again, careful.

  • Cross reference markers are deleted for content in text insets

Cross reference markers are deleted for content text insets. I currently have a chapter that is built from several Import by Reference files. I added an introductory paragraph with cross reference links to heading 2 titles in these text insets. Everything works and saves normally, although the cross reference markers disappear from the chapter when files are checked out a few days later. An extra Heading 2 is also added to the end of the document.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Create a chapter composed of several text insets.
    2. Create a list of cross references to headings in these text insets at the beginning of the chapter.
    3. Check in/check out the files from a source control product.
    What went wrong?:
The cross reference markers are gone, resulting in broken cross references. An empty Heading 2 is also added to the end of the document following the final text inset
    What should have happened?:
The markers should remain and the heading 2 tag should not be applied to the document.
    Product version:
    Product: FrameMaker
    Version: 7.2
    Platform information:Windows XP
    Hardware: Dell Latitude D620
OS Version: Windows XP Professional Version 2002, Service Pack 3.
    RAM: 1GB

Thanks for the information, Van. We did try several techniques including adding the insertion point immediately after the text inset before the normal paragraph tag, but none seemed to consistently work. I will investigate this scenario futher, though, in light of your comments.
We have managed to determine a workaround for this issue by avoiding a string of text insets. For some reason, using multiple text insets without separating them with normal text causes most of the problems after we add the files to our source control system. The situaton is not ideal, but it does work for the time being anyway.

  • How do you resize existing partitions on an external hard-drive without deleting their contents?

Hi, I've got an external hard drive (1 GB Western digital) Which I bought with a view to both storage and time-machine functions.
Initially, I partitioned the hard drive such that I had 750 GB for the time-machine segment, and 250 GB for the storage segment.
Now that my storage is approaching the 250 GB limit, and my time machine is only taking up 80 of the alloted 750 GB, I want to transfer some of that space across so that I'll have more room for storage.
When attempting this on disk utility, I can reduce the size of the time machine partition, but I am unable to increase the size of the storage partition.
Can someone please advise what I should do to sort this out without deleting the contents of each partition.
    Regards,
    Josh

Well, this is not easily answered. You can shrink existing partitions in order to add additional ones. But in order to add space from one partition to another that can only be done by first removing the lower partition first. If that partition has data, then it will be lost. Unfortunately, Disk Utility cannot manipulate partitions in place. You need a third-party utility for that, iPartition 3.4.1.
Now with that said I'll pass on a bit of advice. Do not us your Time Machine backup drive for extra storage. External storage and backups should be kept on separate drives. I suggest you get a separate drive for your storage or Time Machine backups.
If you use Disk Utility you can shrink your Time Machine partition, but the only way to put that space in another partition is to first delete the storage partition, then recreate it with a larger capacity.

  • My Baby Einstein extra content recovery

My son accidentally deleted the My Baby Einstein app from my phone. I was able to restore the app itself to my phone by syncing, but the extra content we had purchased (the Baby Mozart and Lullaby Time video packs) needed to be downloaded again. Unfortunately, the My Baby Einstein app has been removed from the app store, and I can no longer download this content that we paid for. This is really upsetting, because my son LOVES this app, and those were two of his favorite video packs. Is there any way at all to get this stuff back?
Also, as a side note for anyone else who has had similar issues, there IS an option to disable being able to delete apps from the phone. I didn't know about it before, even though I swear I looked through all the Restrictions section, but that's where the option is and I highly recommend disabling the feature before letting little ones play with your iPhone/iPad/whatever.

  • Extra content not showing up in fcp

hello, when i installed my final cut i installed the 50+ gigs of extra content (sounds, templates, etc) on my second internal hard drive while the final cut apps are on my main hard drive. in final cut, under the veiwer generator pop-up menu there is a options for text, color bars, etc. there is also an option for master templates with an arrow by it. when i scroll to it nothing appears. does the extra content need to be on the same hard drive as the apps or do i have to tell final cut where the extra content is?
    thx

    hello rgd22,
yes you are correct, there should be master templates in the FCP menu where you are looking ... the implementation of these is a bit, um, inconsistent, and while i can't find a place to set their location (to tell FCP where to find them), a search in the manual turns up some information on page 503 about where they should be ...
have a look see if that helps.

  • [Solved] Openbox's rc.xml error "Extra content at the end of document"

I have a rather silly problem with Openbox.
I'm not a programming genius so, for me, dealing with XML is a pain but I usually manage to get OB's menus and other docs to work. Ive been banging my head into a wall of xml trying to add my own entry to OpenBox's rc.xml file.  All I want to add is an Xfce terminal centred on my Twinview desktop.  I've done it in the past but right now I can't get the rc.xml file to work.  Whenever I re-configure OpenBox I get the following message spit out at me:
Extra content at the end of document on line ###
So far, this is what I've attempted to get this to work:
    - I have tried recopying a new rc.xml from /etc/xdg/openbox to my home directory's ~/.config/openbox.  I was assuming I'd botched it entirely and started over from the beginning.
    - I have cut/copy/pasted the commented paragraph, above my entry, with the same co-ordinates and with the "force position" set to "yes."
-I've googled this error but I only found one or two semi-relevant hits (from this forum no less!)  Unfortunately I did not find a fix to the issue or a reason as to why this error crops up
I know that it's probably something that is easily missed but I honestly can't see it.  I'm hoping someone on the forum will have run across this issue before and had it fixed.  Below is a copy of my current rc.xml.

You can use whatever tool you prefer - for someone already using emacs, emacs is a natural choice. Simple, easy to use online tools exist e.g. http://schneegans.de/sv/
Just upload the file in question ('Validate by file upload' option) and click 'Validate':

Googling 'xml validation' should give you some more tools / services if this one is not good enough.

  • How to delete Autofill contents Safari 2.0.4

How can I get rid of Autofill or delete Autofill contents? I find it anoying to to be prompted with several suggestions that are not what I want. I know there is private browsing...but what about everything that is already in autofill, or the next time I forget to turn it on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
I may have misunderstood your original question.
I find it anoying to to be prompted with several suggestions that are not what I want.
I thought you were asking about the multitude of prompts appearing when you begin to type a web address into the Address window.
If you are asking about the autofill information that appears when you are completing a form, then yes, as you discovered, the reset command will remove that data in its entirety from the system. It also removes a lot of other data too. You can find out the specifics of what is affected by going to the Help Menu>Safari Help. When the Help screen appears, type "reset" in the spotlight panel. This will lead you to a more thorough explanation of the reset command.
If there are specific instances where the auto-fill information is not accurate or helpful, you can remove that data without throwing away everything else by going to Safari Preferences>Auto-fill>Other forms>Edit. There, you can remove specific entries without losing the entire database.

I have an external hard drive that was formatted by a PC and has files and directories copied to it etc. I want to use it on my IMAC for backup. I see it on my my IMAC . I can open files etc.  But I can't seem to write to it nor can I delete current content. I don't care if I lose current content. How do I initialize it for use with the MAC?

You can't write to it because it's formatted as NTFS which OS X will read but not write to. If you want to continue using the drive with both a PC and OS X you will need to download and install NTFS-3G so you can then write to it from your Mac. You can get NTFS-3G at:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/24481/ntfs-3g
If you want to use the drive exclusively with your Mac then move the data off it and reformat it in Disk Utility (Applications - Utilities - Disk Utilities) as Mac OS Extended (Journaled.)

  • How to delete the Contents in a transaction?

    Hi all.
I had a definite transaction that will be run by a pgm having 5 columns in a table. Now the users dont need 2 columns .
How can we delete the contents of that table?
    Reply soon.
    Regards,
    SSR.

I am not 100% sure what you mean.
Do you only want to remove the two columns from the report (assumed it is a Z-report)
In that case if it is an ALV list, just remove the fields from the field catalog and the user won't be able to see them any more.
If it is just a standard list, you would have to remove the write statements for those two columns.
For standard reports there is not much you can do without doing a mod or in case of an ALV list create a variant for that user which hides the fields he doesn't want to see. The variant is an option for the Z-reports as well.
If you are talking about fields in a database table you would like to remove (assumed that it is a Z-table, you can just remove the fields in transaction SE11. After deleting the fields you will have to use the Database Utility (SE11-Utilities-Database Object- Database Utilities - Activate and Adjust Database). This will remove the columns including the data in it from that table.
Never remove any fields from a standard table - even deleting values out of certain columns for standard tables is a very bad idea unless you really exactly know what you are doing.
    Hope that helps,
    Michael

I choose the wrong template when i initially setup my bc hosting for a customer how do i change the template i choose in site options and select a different one . I need to delete everything and stat over. I tried deleting everything under the develop area but lost my module style sheets for the eCommerce package. please help. Im on the business catalyst platform

    Hi Joey,
Good to see that we are not the only ones running into this problem.
Seems as there is no standard solution available.
We have developed our own process type which deletes the content of the Open Hub table.
    Thanks,
    Klaus

If it's activation locked, you can't; go back to the shop and ask for a refund.

I opened a file to print and by accident highlighted and deleted the content. Then in a panic I closed the file and now when I open it is blank. Is there any way to get it back.  I have looked and can not see anyway. I dont have anything in my backup?

I'm not sure about older versions, but in Pages 3.x (OS X 10.9.x) select File > Revert To > Browse All Versions.  Hopefully there will be an earlier version that you can "revert to".
