Deleting Final Cut Studio Registration Information

Hey guys,
Just bought Final Cut Studio and I notice that every time I open FCP the registration information pops up. I dont want to register and the pop up is getting annoying. Is there a way for me to delete that file so it will never appear in the future again? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

  • Final Cut Studio Registration

I tried to register my Final Cut Studio about a year and a half ago and apparently my attempt to do so failed. Now I'm trying again so I can update my software. After repeated attempts I just get the message "This information does not appear to be in our records." I've checked my software serial number repeatedly. I've typed it exactly as it appears on the sticker.
What can I do from here? I find it a bit crazy that the serial number isn't working. Anyone have a suggestion? Any hope that I can call someone at Apple about this? Thanks

Thanks for the reply Michael. As I say, I'm certain I'm being accurate when typing out the serial number, including being careful with the "0"s and "O"s, the "5"s and "S"s, etc. In general the letters and numbers are in groups of threes except that the very first letter stands alone. So using "L" to represent letters and "#" to represent numbers, the serial number is in this format: L-###-LLL-###-LLL-###-LLL-###-LLL-LLL. Does this sequence of letters and numbers appear correct to you? To me it seems far fetched that I would have somehow been issued an invalid serial number with my FCS suite. But at this point it's the only conclusion I can draw. If it is true that there is something about my serial number that is invalid, do you have any idea what recourse I may have? Is it pure fiction to think I can contact someone at Apple about this?

  • Deleting Final Cut Studio

The Apple help documents say not to install Final Cut Pro X on the same startup disk as Final Cut Studio.  So, in preparation for installing FCPX, how do I delete ALL the files associated with Final Cut Studio?

  • Final Cut Studio Registration Issue

I recently purchased FCS and tried to register the product. However, there was a problem with my internet connection and form wasn't posted. I got a message saying that the registration info will be sent when I connect to the net next time. This hasn't happened although my connection is back now. I was worried so I registered it on the Apple Support site using serial #, marketing part # & support ID. However, I never got any email confirmation and I'm not even able to find the link that would show my registered products online. Where can I find this information? I just want to make sure that all information is properly registered with Apple.

I don't believe that Apple lists the applications/software you have registered.
It does list downloaded software purchases and hardware you have registered.
But no internet available database of your registered Apple software is available to my knowledge.

  • Final Cut Studio 2 Registration

    Dear all,
As a newbie, please kindly help me with any advise.
I recently purchased Final Cut Studio 2 (FCP2). Once I installed, the 'register now' button, couldn't be selected (dimmed). The only button that could be selected was 'register later'.
Could anybody help me how this thing happened? How do i register then? Do i need to register?
Thank you all for your kind attention.
    MacPro 3Ghz Dual Quad Core / 5GB RAM / 250GB Int HD / 1.5TB Ext HD / FCS 2   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

    Thanks all,
I did follow your instructions, ~/Library/Preferences:
    - com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist (deleted)
    Final Cut Pro User Data,
    - Final Cut Pro 6.0 Preferences (deleted)
    - Final Cut Pro OBJ Cache (deleted).
First time I re-launch after those deletion, it did appear the registration information form. But, still, the button 'register now' still couldn't be selected, even though at that time I was connected to the internet.
Please kindly let me know if any other way to get it registered.
    Thanks a lot.
Note: Another thing that happened, on 'Color' application that came with Final Cut Studio 2 package, when I was trying to launch, message appear: 'Unable to initialize OpenGL. Make sure Video Desktop is disable', and straight quit. Any comment? Thx

  • How many registration keys come with the new Final Cut Studio

Hi I'm thinking of buying the new final cut studio and am trying to find out how many registration keys come with the box. I have 2 others in the family that would use it on their comps as well, and my friend had gotten the previous version of final cut studio 2 (final cut pro 6) and said it came with 3 keys inside, which would be great for me. So I'm just making sure that's true. Thanks.
Also you can bring final cut pro 6 files from another computer onto a computer with final cut pro 7 and still work on them right?

    Hello Gibbs,
    Welcome to the forum.
    Re: your question.
Your friend is a pathological lier (or delusional - sometimes it's hard to tell the difference).
FCP is licensed for one laptop and one desktop as long as:
    1. Both machines are owned by YOU (your inlaws don't count as you)
    and
    2. They are not used at the same time.
If your family wants FCS, time for them to purchase their own copies. (Apple has dropped the price so low that even Junior High School students can afford their own copies now.)
Yes, FCP6 files will open without issue on FCP7. The reverse is not true.
    Have fun.

  • Final Cut Studio keeps asking for ID registration

Hi folks. Every time I go to start up ANY of the Final Cut Studio applications it ask me for my name company info and serial number. I am already registered with Apple, so what the ****? Thanks...

Using the Finder, navigate to the following location:
systemHD/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Studio System ID
Move the file to the trash, next time you launch FCP, you'll be prompted to enter your serial number, after you do that, a new system ID file will be created. That should solve your problem

  • Can I use Final Cut Studio 2 software on a MacBook Air?

My old MacBook Pro was stolen a couple of years ago and I replaced it with a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.5. I still have the software from Final Cut Studio 2  which I used on my MacBook Pro. I haven't got around the replacing this and was looking at the Final Cut App when it dawned on me I might be able to use the software I have. Any thoughts? I know nothing about how computers work, so a simple 'No', 'Yes' or 'Do this to make it work', would be great!

I think the gist of what the two former responders are saying is that, if you can upgrade to software that will run natively in Yosemite, then you are seemingly much better off!
I am not a film editor (although I play one on my computer! hahahaha) but I have been told by many FCS2 users that they need ongoing access to it because of clients who ask for editorial updates to older projects.  My understanding is that Final Cut Pro X will NOT open the FCS2 files for processing.  Hence a valid reason to be able to install and operate FCS2 on today's modern Macs.
There are three methods to install and operate FCS2 in Mavericks; I have no confirmation yet that these work in Yosemite, or if once installed in Yosemite, FCS2 will operate properly.  Here is a recent post I prepared to provide this information:
Apple has created a "bug" in the attempt to install FCP6 in Lion, Mt. Lion and Mavericks, which makes it look like Rosetta is needed for a PowerPC app, the installer, so as to make it difficult for the use of FCP6 in these versions of OS X!  There are three ways to install it:
    1.  Pacifist https://www.charlessoft.com/
    2.  Jeremy Johnstone's Terminal method http://www.jeremyjohnstone.com/blog/2012-03-11-installing-final-cut-pro-studio-2 -0-on-mac-os-x-10-7-lion.html
    3.  HawaiianHippie has discovered the best and safest possible solution to this problem:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/26309669?ac_cid=tw123456#26309669
I have now successfully done this on four computers, brand new iMacs running 10.9.4.  And I've discovered an even easier way to do this!  You don't need to edit the plist file, just move it into the Trash.  Install proceeds normally.  You can return it after you're done if you like, I don't know what (if any) possible repercussions might come from leaving it deleted.
The file, as indicated on Jeremy Johnstone's blog, is
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Installer.app/Contents/Resources/PPCRequirements.pl ist
(Note that when you get to Installer.app, you will have to Control+click and select "Show Package Contents")
I have not, as yet, attempted to recreate his success.

  • Final Cut Studio Keeps Asking For Serial Number

I use an imac. I currently use final cut studio 3. After approx. 2 maybe 3 weeks the software will stop working. It boots up to the registration screen. I will enter my name and the orginal serial number but it tells me the serial number is not valid. What is causing this and how can I prevent? If I unload software and reload, it works but will kick me out again after uses.

Go to the following location: Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Pro Apps.
Delete the file Final Cut Studio System ID.
The next tme you launch one of the apps it will ask for your serial number - hopefully for the last time.
If it happens again, something is causing that file to be corrupted, probably by writing its own data there.
Try the above anyway, it might just stick this time.

  • Final Cut Studio Educational version serial number

I've been using an educational version of Final Cut Studio for years, and now it is asking me for my name and serial number before I open the program.  I've looked at the box that the discs come in, and have found some numbers, but they don't seem to be the serial numbers and they don't work.  Is there somewhere else that these serial numbers may be?  Also, is there a reason why I am forced to put in my information to log in now?
    thanks!

There are two stickers with the serial # attached to the "Installing your software" pamphlet that came with the suite. This is the only place that you will find it.
If you have lost the documentaion, follow these instructions:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1861
    >Also, is there a reason why I am forced to put in my information to log in now?
Have you recently had the computer repaired? The encrypted serial is tied to the Logic board ID. You will need to delete that file if so.

  • How can i check if a Final Cut Studio licence has been used or not?

    Hello there,
How can i check if my 'Final Cut Studio 3 Retail' set has a usuable licence or they have been used allready? It is second hand and i no longer have a Mac and wish to sell the product. In the box it has 2 of the same serials so i gather it can be used twice?
Any help would greatly be appreciated
    Kind Regards
    Tim

If your serial is printed on the official sticker you will have no problems and should the new owner register it, any previous registrations will be deleted.
Officially you can only use it on one Desktop and one Laptop but there is no physical limit to the number of computers you can install it on.

  • ARD: Deploy Final Cut Studio

Relative newbie to ARD. I have to deploy Final Cut Studio to 17 iMacs in a lab that already are in production. I would have expected to find more information available on how to accomplish this task, especially with this software since it is Apple software.
I cannot seem to find anything definitive that explains if this is possible or that can be used as a guide to doing so.
Anyone care to share any pointers? Links? How Tos?

    Hello,
A no go there my friend, because Final Cut studio is multi-disc installer and requiring the serial number during the install.
The best thing you could do is to make a disk images of Final Cut, then push them over the network with ARD to the iMac's & then run the installer manually on each via screen sharing. When your done use ARD to send a task to delete the images of the iMac's.
    Hope this help's!

  • "Clean Unintall" or Final Cut Studio 2, running on Snow Leopard ?????

    Hey Folks:
I am a newbie to Final Cut Studio 2 and have had some major problems. I run the latest version of Snow Leopard and was able to install FC Studio 2 with no problems. I have a JVC BR-HD50 deck and took some test footage this week. Finding out how to log and capture JVC 24p was a task in and of it's self, but I get it to run and captured some footage into FC Studio 2.
Now the problem, Final Cut Studio stopped letting me log and capture. I tried to wipe and reinstall the software 4 times in the last 2 days and can't get rid of it completely. I used "FCS Remover" by Digital Rebellion, reloaded the FCP disks and still; still had old registration info appear when I rebooted.
I tried Apple's "Final Cut Assistant 1.0.6" the second time to wipe out user prefs, everything in fact - then reloaded all the FCP Studio disks and again the registration info is the still the old one (I misspelled my name so I see this each time I launch the application) and importing from the JVC deck is now not working correctly. I trashed all the FCP scratch files, ran all the utilities, scanned for anything on my drives that might be old pref files. Still on the forth reload of the DVD's the same registration name comes up. I can't log and capture, (I have it set to the correct import prefs for my deck)
Three xanax later, 48 hours without sleep; still have a app that won't run, I am at my wits end.
Anyone know how to totally wipe FC Studio 2 so I can get a "clean" start?
Thank you for your help in advance! (Rehab is in my near future)

    Deleting FCP Preferences manually:
Open a Finder window. Set the view mode to columns:
Click the house icon that has your name next to it.
Click the folder "Library" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Preferences" in the next column.
Find and click the folder "Final Cut Pro User Data" in the next column.
Move the files "Final Cut Pro 6.0 Prefs", "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" and "Final Cut Pro Prof Cache" to the Trash and empty it.

  • Final Cut Studio 2: needing to update older version before install

I am trying to install FCS 2 upgrade from FCS, but it tells me I have an older version and that it "needs to be updated" before I can continue. The manual says that "To avoid compatibility issues, the Final Cut Studio installer requires you to update all Final Cut Studio applications to the version included with Final Cut Studio 2." I am not sure what this means, since I am just now installing FCS 2. I've read the messages here about upgrading from FCP 5.0.4, my FCP version, to 5.1 via a crossgrade on disks from Apple. Does this mean that I need to buy this crossgrade before I can finish the upgrade to FCS 2? This requirement is not listed on the FCS 2 box, but I can't seem to find anything else that would "update" my older version. And is this true for each of the other applications in the suite?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don't need to buy the crossgrade. I just updated the PPC version of FCS to FCS2 yesterday. (I had transferred these applications over to my new Intel Mac from a G5 even though I knew they wouldn't run on the Intel Mac until I could update with the Universal version). What I did end up having to do was to manually delete everything from the PPC installation (applications, preferences, application support files, etc.). Then install from the FCP2 disks, having your old FCP registration number ready to enter in the dialogue box that comes up when you try to upgrade. While the installer says you are upgrading, in fact it installs the new universal versions of the applications.

  • Final Cut Studio license key

Anyone know how to change the license key for Final Cut Studio HD v5. I just bought additional copies and need to update some installs with the new license keys.

    Hi Russel,
    License info is stored in:
/Library/Application Support/ProApps/Final Cut Pro System ID
delete the file and the next time FCP opens, it will ask for the relevant information.
