I'm currently dealing with this issue myself, except that my rMBP has NO articles in the reading list. It's a brand new rMBP too, purchased just this week, with the 2.6 Ghz Processor & 16GB of RAM.
Let's see what we can find. I may just take it back to the Apple Store.

You can't delete the reading list portion of the bookmarks window. It is built into the app so you can't delete it. That is not optional.
You can delete items from the reading list by swiping Across the item in the reading list to bring up a red Delete button. Then tap that button to delete the item from the list.

Yes, swipe from right to left across the title of the reading list item and then touch the red Delete which appears.

I just encountered the error from title while navigating on the forums (after visiting the new Sysadmin subforum, I went back to https://bbs.archlinux.org/ where I got this error). That happened while I was logged in.
However, I also noticed getting this error when I was not logged in (yesterday). Not sure if it is harmful, but just to let you know.

I've been getting these errors pretty often since about early July.
Sometimes my posts finally gets submitted a couple minutes after I click the button.
I have no other issues with my browser or other websites, I'm not maxing out my bandwidth etc.

I've just tonight started to get the following error when trying - sometimes - to load a forum page:

I did update Firefox earlier (23.0.1) so I'm not sure if that might be related. Mostly it works fine but I have gotten this error now several times. I have also got a 504/gateway error once or twice.
Is anybody else seeing this? Or has any idea why I am?

Try resetting your iPod by pressing and hold both the Select (Center) and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, try unsyncing and resyncing your iPod with iTunes.

I am assuming you are referring to reading list in Safari. Click the eyeglasses symbol in the upper left of the screen then drag the mouse over the item(s) you want to remove and you will see an X to the right, click that. It will look similar to:

Ipod playlists and deletion from ipod list

My old computer died suddenly. Thankfully my itunes library was backed up but in syncing to a new computer my ipod playlists have not been preserved. I have reloaded my favourite songs manually and would like to reinstate play lists but can't seem to do that from the drop down list within my ipod. Has itunes changed the way lists are formed? Do I now have to make the list on my computer and sync that list to the ipod? And why can't I delete songs from the ipod while I am listening to them? I have to go to the screen that lists the songs I have manually added and remove them from that spot. Seriously inconvenient. And now itunes says a new version is available and that everything will be wiped again if I want to upgrade. What the??????

my itunes library was backed up
Sounds like the itunes library content was backed up, but not the itunes library database. The database is what holds the playlists, play counts, ratings, etc.
The filename of the database is
iTunes Library.itl
If you don't have a backup of that database file, and can't get if off the old hard computer's hard drive, you're essentially starting over with itunes.
Going forward, make regular backups of that file.
Another option is to buy 3rd-party ipod manager software that can get playlists off the ipod. Here is a page to start your research - it's 5 years old, but still a good starting place. Make sure whatever you buy supports your model ipod.

The movies can not be watched and I have tried every thing I can think of, other than restoring the software ( that will probably be the answer ) What should I do?

That is stealing. Your friend has no right/licence to give the songs to you. It violates copyright law.

Recover apps that i deleted from app list - it was paused during download

Hi, I had just updated to OSX 10.9 (works great) but had a Mavericks download ready for installation in my App Store "Purchases" list. I started the download in my purchases list because I wanted to create a USB startup disk of Mavericks.
What I then did was pasue the download to check on things and when I wanted to continue with the download I accidently deleted the puchased app of Mavericks from my App List. The OSX logo in Launchpad is shaded and showing that it is "Paused".
Can you please let me know how I can get the Mavericks download back into my Purchased List so I can continue with the download "or" tell me how I can remove the pasued item in Launchpad.

Found answer to my own problem. Went into App Store account and was able to unhide the application I accidently deleted. Worked just fine

Hello, you present all applications, often useless toys or free appthat you bought to try but then once you have deleted? In Mac app store in the "Purchased" remain very pretty after a little practice ...you can not delete those that we really sure that will not be restoring your mac? because otherwise it becomes a long line ofuseless and idiotic and outdated app that does not use anymore.

Why cannot delete reading list items in Safari

Environment: OS X 10.8.2
Everytime I empty the reading list, Safari just tells me the bookmarks are syncing. Then the items reappear in reading list. I tried to disable icloud syncing and then re-enable it. It just didn't work.
Any suggestions? Can iCloud be any better? It bothers me alot.

Exactly same problem. Got syncing between all iOS devices but NOT on iMac...
And items which I delete from Reading List on iMac keep returning in the list but in 'saving for offline reading...' mode.
