Deleting Inserted Captivate Movies from RoboHelp 7?

How do you delete Captivate movies that you insert into
RoboHelp 7? It seems like it should be easy, but I don't see how.

Thanks Rick. My problem was that I was trying to delete the
swf file directly, rather than deleting the topic the Captivate
movie was inserted on. After deleting the topic (or companion page)
like you said, the swf is removed automatically.
On another note, I was reading an instructional article by
John Daigle on Captivate 2 and RoboHelp.

In the article, he describes a workaround for getting the player
controls and border to appear when you insert a Captivate movie
into RoboHelp (a Captivate movie that was created outside of
RoboHelp). However, I've found that when I import the Captivate swf
file with the word _skin in it (there are a couple of swf files
Captivate outputs), the borders and player controls appear
automatically without the workaround. Is this a bug that Captivate
3 and RoboHelp 7 fixed from the previous version?

Prevent Captivate movies from autoplaying

Hi I wonder if you can help. I would like to prevent my Captivate movies from automatically starting when the page loads. For accessibility reasons it is always better to allow the user to control video so that users of screen readers do not get confused by an unexpected voiceover.
However I don't want to re export all the Captivate movies and was wondering if there is a quick fix I can do to the code like autoplay="false"?

Under Preferences > Project > Start and End > Untick the box for Autoplay.

You definitely can delete the movie prior to the expiration date. However, the movie will automatically disappear from your iTunes library 24 (or 48) hours after you've begun viewing it. Here are the steps on how to delete iTunes media.

I just purchsed new movies from iTunes store but to transfer to my ipod, it says it will delete 5 other movies from my other pc. Any ideas?

I have an ipod classic 160gb and it has 145gb available
I have 4 pcs authorized. 1 for each of my family members when I visit. I had recently purchased several movies from the iTunes store before leaving florida, now here in Maryland. I decided to purchsed more. when I attempt to upload from the itunes library to my ipod movies, it gives me a window error explaining:
"This ipod is currently linked to another iTunes library. In order to copy the movie Goonies to this ipod, you must link this ipod with this iTunes library. Doing so will remove 5 movies including Trading Places from this iPod."
Well, this is unaccectable since all my other movies, including the 5 it wishes to remove are on my home PC in florida. All the movies were purchased from iTunes yet only my recent purchases show up in the library folder - which makes no sense unless it auto deletes itself after a period of time?
I have copied the movies from the library folder to this pc just in case but I cannot find a way to copy or backup my ipod to my PC just in case itunes wipes my movies.
Any help or ideas?

Controlling Captivate movies from a parent Flash movie

Hello, i am in the works of onverting my old AS2 code, for controlling Captivate movies lodaded into a Flash container, over to AS3 becasue of the transition to Captivate 5. There were some weird issues in AS2 and Captivate 3 which i fortunately vere able to solve when i first made this container. Now i am getting weird and unpredictable results when trying to set the appropriate variables in the Captivate move. The main culprit is: rdcmndRewindAndStop, it does indeed rewind the movie, but... it starts playing again... Could anyone be so kind to give me the reason why or better even provide me with a solution to this unneeded change, its quite annoying, and no rdcmndPause does not help, not before rdcmndRewindAndStop or after, the movie is happily trottling along...

Hello and thanks for replying, yes it worked! But... we have to manually edit 40+ files to make this stupid thing to work... Do you know if there is any way i can put those scripts in a flash object, or better even modify the movie from the parent container? This is making our production process way longer than is affordable tbh, a single project consists usually of over 100 captivate movies, and we simply can't manually edit each and every one of them.
I wish i could get my hands on a Captivate developer ;p

Is it possible to access an object inside a Captivate movie from Javascript?

For example, my JavaScript performs some processing, based on which a particular button inside the movie needs to be hidden. Can I access a particular button from JavaScript to be able to do this? If not, then is it possible to be notified inside the Captivate movie, when a variable has been set by JavaScript? I notice that the JavaScript interface in Captivate 8 provides an event (CPAPI_VARIABLEVALUECHANGED) which fires when the value of a variable inside the Captivate movie changes. If there was a similar event which would fire inside the Captivate movie, when a variable changes then I could have set a variable using JavaScript and hidden a particular button using an advanced action, when the event for that variable changing fires inside the Captivate movie.
Articulate Storyline has an event which gets triggered when the value of a variable changes (either because of JavaScript executing or otherwise). If something similar was possible in Captivate, it would open up many possibilities.
I am evaluating Captivate 8.

I provided you two links over in the Captivate forums about a
week or so ago. Although the links were for Captivate 2 and
RoboHelp X5, the process hasn't really changed. So those links are
valid. At least for RoboHelp.
As for Frame, you will need to find someone that has dealt
with that extensively. I don't know Frame. Maybe someone else here
can help with that.

How do I delete TV shows/movies from cloud?

I have run out of cloud storage, even after buying the maximum allowable storage from iTunes. My cloud is cluttered with old iTunes purchases that I am never going to use again, e.g., TV shows, movies, apps. Now when I want to sync an episode of a TV show to my iPad 3, 64 GB, I cannot because it says that I don't have enough storage.
I am very frustrated.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Purchased iCloud content does not count against your storage quota. Only device, email, and app data does. The message you are receiving indicates your local iPad storage if full, you will need to delete items (apps, music, video/movies) from your iPad.

Trouble incorporating Captivate movies into RoboHelp HTML projects

This is for RH 7 HTML.
I have been trying for quite a while now to add some Captivate tutorial-type videos to my help projects. I have recently been able to do this, however, the video additons greatly increased the size of my help file (it went from probably 7 or 8 MB up to 29 MB).
Here's how I added the movies.
Created a new topic just for the multimedia movie
Inserted the video (which was saved as an .SWF - Flash - file, since this is what the help file instructs you to do) and added it to the new topic
Created a link to this new topic in the topic from which I wanted to launch the video and chose to have the video open in a new window
Saved everything and tested it out to make sure the video would run when called
The video runs OK, though it is a little on the large side and is still a bit blurry/fuzzy. I've also had to provide special instructions to any users who wish to view the videos (maximize the RH display window, make sure the resolution on the monitor is set to at least 1024 x 768, choose to allow blocked content if prompted, etc) So, the main questions I have are,
What's the best way to add these videos to a help file without having the file size go through the roof and so they'll still display properly (clear and legible)?
Is there a smaller, more compressed format that can be used that will still allow for a clear display?
Should I embed the videos in the actual help file or place them somewhere else and link to them externally?
I would greatly appreciate any insight, advice, and expertise in this area, since my manager is a huge proponent of having these videos incorporated into the help files.

Hopefully Willam won't mind my chiming in here.
When you publish a project from Captivate as SWF, you also have an option to allow Captivate to create an HTML page for you. In fact, the option is typically enabled by default and you have to specifically disable it. At that point Captivate warns you that the movie may not display correctly if you do this.
So if you want the HTML page all set up, you just leave that option selected in Captivate. Then in RoboHelp, you import both the Captivate created HTML page as well as any files such as SWF or FLV you need.

Let's get your text messages flowing! If you have access to your previous iPhone please ensure that it is connected to internet via WiFi so that changes will sync with you Apple ID. Now go to Settings>Messages>Move iMessage to off. If you have other Apple devices (iPad, iPod, etc.) registered to same Apple ID as your phone, you need to deactivate iMessage on all of them, otherwise your messages will continue to go to your Apple ID instead of your new phone.
If you do not have access to your previous iPhone go to http://supportprofile.apple.com/MySupportProfile.do Log in with your Apple ID and password. Select the product you need to de-register (your iPhone, for example). Click ‘Unregister’. You’ll see the message ‘Are you sure you want to unregister and delete this product?’ – Click ‘Unregister’ again.
**Important ** by unregistering your iPhone from your Apple ID through the Apple site, it won’t have access to the App Store or content you’ve purchased unless you reregister it.

Can't delete songs or movies from other identities on same computer

I copied all my iTunes folder onto an external hard drive (EHD), then moved all but the iTunes Music folder to another identity/account that will be accessed by another person in this household, then pointed the library to the music folder in the EHD (under Advanced in Preferences) and all seems in order because I can play music or movies.....but I cannot delete (as I NEED to do to eliminate some of the video clips and music that I don't want the other identity to have) from the music folder even though I can delete from the library and it says it's sending to the trash. I've changed permissions in the info for both the music and iTunes folders but still, the music or movies I appear to have deleted are still in the music folder. Can anyone help me with this?

The library and what you call "iTunes Media folder" (but what is still called "iTunes Music" folder for me even though I recall seeing it called Media folder a little while ago) are indeed in different places but in preferences>advanced I have pointed the library to the media folder in the EHD. Another thing that might help someone solve this dilemma is that I cannot edit (for example) the Genre in Info for a particular song or movie. Maybe/probably there's more I can't edit but I would need to logout and then log back into the other account to find out (which I will try right about nowwwww!) Thanks for the effort though....
