Deleting items that are no longer on my computer
I've recently installed a new hard drive on my laptop and reinstalled windows. I saved everything from the previous drive..when I installed itunes I am showing duplicates of all songs. I'm thinking there was a setting from my previous drive that was saved but since my songs are now on a d:\ drive instead of the c:\ drive iTunes made an entry from the old drive, then found the songs in the new drive, now there are duplicates. I have over 1000 songs in my list and don't want to delete each entry one by one.
Is there something I can do to eliminate all items from the Music Library that are duplicates and are showing the exclamation icon on the left?
Thanks for your help
Glenn
Go to the Music soource of the library and sort by *Date added*. You should find all the ! marks grouped together into the top or bottom half of the list. They don't necessarily show with a ! until you try to access them in some way, e.g click on file with the artwork preview box visible. It doesn't matter as long as you've ordered them correctly. Simply find the first missing track and click on it, scroll down to the last, hold down shift and click on the last of the group selecting all in between. Now press delete. Confirm you want to remove the files from iTunes. If asked whether files should be deleted click cancel and check on your selection process above.
Not all Podcasts reimport properly so you may find the new copies of some of these are in Music or Movies instead of Podcasts. The same may also be true for some TV shows which may show up in Movies. You may need to change the kind of some of the newly imported movies to Music Video then remove any remaining movies, TV Shows & Podcasts with broken links. Any games can be relinked from the Applications source.

I need to delete computers that are no longer active from my itunes Home sharing account so that I can sign up the new computers. I am using a Mac laptop. The computers that were previously linked to the Homesharing are no longer available, they have been wiped and are not in the house anymore. Does anyone know how to do this?
The apps aren't stored in your personal iCloud account and don't use any of your storage. They are only stored in the App store. The iCloud symbols are only links to your previous purchases in the App store so you can download them again. If you don't want to see certain apps, you can hide them in iTunes on your computer as explained here: iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases. Once hidden in iTunes, you should no longer see them on your phone.

What can I do to see items that I have purchased but upgraded to iTunes Plus? They are not showing in my iCloud as purchased, but I still can see the original protected versions from old backups. The original was downloaded with my iMac but the computers hard drive has burned out and needs to be replaced.
Please help.
Thank you. Thanks for the reply although I'm not too happy to hear it. What's awesome about the cloud is no longer having to keep up with any physical media. The promise of that is realized with everything else (my work, music, books) besides movies and TV.
I wonder how Google Play will handle movies/tv that becomes unavailable? Google Play does allow you to download media in some circumstances (on Android and iOS) but is generally intended for streaming. Maybe relying on a physical copy as I do with iTunes should make me more comfortable with it and not less.
I will come back to mark your reply as the solution as it becomes clear there is not a contrary position. Thank you. -

Which OS? Lion? If so, you're getting bit by the resume feature. Welcome to the iOS world of nonthinking, wherein the OS decides everything for you, whether or not that's what you want. My laptop crashed. This laptop housed photos that are on my iPhone. I would like to delete them off my phone completely how can I do this if the computer crashed?
When viewing the photo's (in the Photo App on iOS) a tab bar to change picture will appear at the bottom, one of the buttons is a trash can and simply press that. The tab will dissapear after a while of viewing the picture so if it is not there then tap anywhere on the picture for it to come up.

How do I delete images from the Lightroom Catalog that are no longer on my computer!?
Something went wront on an ingest of my images. I think I tried correcting it by going into my /workingfiles folder were they were stored and deleting them manually. I'm sure I checked to see if I could do it through Lightroom, but maybe I missed the folder they were put in. I am guessing that is what happened so Lightroom still has a small image of them somewhere and will no longer let me re-import them. Any ideas on what I can do to get out of this mess? Thanks.
Image Ingester Pro 3
Lightroom 4.3
Windows 7 Home Premium 64They are not showing up in Lightroom at all. I already deleted them.
When I try to import them again into Lightroom it wants to add another 2012 folder to wherever I am trying to insert them and then it does the month/day folder when it already has the month folder it should automatically go into and not be adding a seperate 2012 folder first.
I can't even get it to do the above right now. Now all it does is it wants to make this seperate 2012 folder with the month/day folders but has little boxes beside each folder showing that there are no images to import. The images do show up on the import screen but they are all darkened and unchecked. When I click the proper folder to import them they come on bright and have little boxes checked, but that lasts for less than a second before it decides they are not new. They are new images, I deleted them all out of Lightroom, and probably missed deleting some through Lightroom but instead deleted them straight from the folder outside of Lightroom. This is what is probably causing me such grief and I have found nothing in my searches to tell me how to correct this. *sigh* -
How do I delete videos off my ipad that are no longer on my computer
I have some TV shows that I want to delete off my ipad but I cannot seem to use the swipe to the left method. There is a cloud to the right of the button. I have stopped syncing them with my computer, in fact have deleted them from the computer.
LizFizzIf you are seeing a cloud icon, they are not actually on your device, just available to download. If you wish to turn this off: Settings app > Videos > Show All Videos [turn OFF]. This is also available in for the Music and iBooks apps.

How to quickly delete all songs that are no longer on my computer
I just deleted a huge music folder, and I am wondering how itunes could find out all these no longer available tracks and delete them from itunes.
Check the link below, there may be a script that does that.

How do I delete files that are no longer referenced in the catalog
Over the years there have been a number of files (~650 raw files) that got removed from the catalog but not from my hard drive. This has mostly happened because I used the wrong keystroke combination. But now I'm stuck how can I find and remove these files?
Best strategy so far:
- Use Synchronize folders to find files missing from the catalog
- Reimport with a keyword - deleteme.
I would really rather avoid this because I really don't want to risk any chance of having these files back. Any other ideas?
Cheers

Recent Entries: Self Inflicted Agile Injuries, Why use an Agile CoachThis method won't work, if you want to preserve a custom folder structure, but I'll mention it anyway…
You could select all images in your current catalog and perform an "Export as Catalog…". Make sure to check "Export negative files" and "Include available previews" and select a destination folder for the export.
That will copy your catalog, the original images with all info, adjustments etc. and the previews. Once completed open the newly exported catalog and verify that all images were successfully copied to the new location.
If all went successfully, you can then delete your original images folder, which will get rid of all the non-referenced images in one fell swoop. -

How can I play my songs from my iPod that are no longer in my computer
When I go to my iPod under devices and click "Music" it shows all the songs I have on my iPod but it's all grayed out and I can not play them from here. Now at first I thought you just couldn't do it but my brother for some reason can... None of his songs are grayed out and they let him play it straight from his ipod.
he is manually managing his ipod song list
where as i am assuming you syncing your music automatically, if you change to manual management you will lose all of your music and have to resync it. -
I have an iPod classic, 160GB model, that keeps trying to sync items that are no longer in my iTunes library, is there a way to stop it from doing this? My iTunes library is on my MacBook Pro (17-inch, Late 2011), 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7, 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3, AMD Radeon HD 6770M 1024 MB.
Clarification needed
Does your iPod clears your iTunes library or the music in the iPod itself disappears, when your sync the iPod? -
I have a new wireless apple keyboard. I can only delete items that are to the left of the cursor using the delete key. What key do I use to delete items that are to the right side of the cursor? I have only one delete key.
My old apple wired keyboard has 2 delete keys that enabled me to easly delete data on either side of the cursor.

Full message that pops up
"The iPod could not be synced because this computer is no longer authorized for purchased items that are on this iPod.
To authorize this computer for items purchased from iTunes Store, choose Store > Authorize This Computer."
I am unable to sync my music, applications, movies, etc. to my iPod touch. The only way I am able to bypass the message that pops out when I try to sync (the one in the title) is by clicking "Apply" instead of "Sync". To do this, I make changes to Apps, Music, or Movies (...) and the buttons "Revert" and "Apply" will replace the button "Sync".
My problem is most likely not due to using many accounts because I only have one and it is the only one that I use. I do not share accounts with my family members. Still, I have tried everything here, nothing has worked for me. Since I don't often listen to Podcasts, I have deleted them from my iPod. I have no idea why I am unable to sync and no one seems to have the same problem as me.
Thank you for your help in advance.
