Deleting iWeb Preferences

After 'upgrading' to 09 a month ago I've been unable to upload my website to MobileMe either on my MacBook Pro or my iMac - until today, when I took the MacBook to an Apple shop, where one of their aptly-named Geniuses ditched my existing iWeb Preferences and changed the site name. Uploading then worked. Returning home I copied the Domain from the MacBook to the desktop of my iMac, and clicked it with fingers crossed. The upload failed. So I imagine I should delete the Prefs on this computer too (though hopefully not rename the site again). Trouble is, I can't find the Prefs. Can anyone guide me to them (using terminology for the mentally challenged please)?

Thanks, Niel. I'd never used 'Go to Folder' before. I removed com.apple.iweb from the Prefs and all my red files immediately turned blue without my having to remove the one in the ByHost Folder.
I hoped doing the same thing with my GarageBand prefs might heal a little visual problem I have there too, but unfortunately that hasn't worked. Still, I'm delighted to have iWeb running again after all this time.
Thanks again!

  • How do I open PS4 without having to delete my preferences?

I have been using CS3 Web Prem, but just updated to CS4 Web Prem.  I installed the suite, registered, downloaded all updates, and downloaded the most recent driver for my graphics card (GeForce 9800T).  I have 4 GB RAM and use Vista Home Premium for the OS.  I have not had any problem using PS3 and Lightroom 2.3.  (CS3 is still on the computer.)
When I first opened Photoshop CS4, I changed the scratch disk in my preferences and closed the program.  The next time I tried to open PS, it wouldn't open.  Instead I got two dialog boxes saying that the scratch file and activation files were locked and telling me to use Windows Explorer to unlock them.  I then opened PS while holding down the alt-contr-shift keys and changed the preferences back the way they originally were, with the C drive as the scratch drive under the Performance tab.  I closed PS and tried to reopen it again.  The same warnings about the scratch and activation files appeared. I do not know where to find the scratch and activation files, and the only way I can open PS is by deleting the Preferences.
What do I need to do in order to set the Preferences, save the changes, and open PS without having to delete the new Preferences?
    Thank you for your assistance.

It is likely to be due to the intervention of the UAC on Vista. Turn it off and see if the problem goes away.
I turned it off when I got Vista and left it off.
If you want to keep it you will have to run the program as Administrator I guess.

    Tamara,
Did you reinstall using the full three step way (otherwise strange things may linger)?
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

  • After deleting the preferences photoshop crashes

I deleted the preferences on photoshop CS using keyboard shortcuts.on my PC, Windows 7.  Now it crashes when I open it.  How do I restore the preferences and hopefully get photoshop to run again?

You mean Ctrl+Alt+Shift? That shouldn't have caused any problems. You might try it the reset again (the one I mentioned). If that doesn't work, try uninstalling and re installing Photoshop.

The iLife '08 applications should be on the install DVD that came with your Mac.
If you upgraded from iLife '06 you should have an iLife '08 Disk.

  • Can you reverse delete the preferences/settings file.

OnOne software advised me to delete the preference/setting file in order to prevent constant crashes from using Perfect Effects 8.  It didn't help.  Perfect Effects still crashes CS6, and now I lose my settings everytime it crashes.  Can this be reversed?
They told me to hold down Alt, Ctrl, and Shift keys (Mac: Command, Option, Shift) while starting up Photoshop, which I did and then select "delete the preferences/settings file".
How do I reverse this.  It didn't help the crashes at all, and it's SO much work to get my setting back every time it crashes.

Holding down the modifier keys at startup is a one time deal. It has to be repeated each time you want to reset the preferences.
So thats telling me (so I assume) that your preferences maybe corrupted or there is a permission issue with the file or folder the file is located in.
Here is a basic trouble shooting page by adobe that may help.
    http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2012/07/photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-mos t-issues.html
If that don't help, let us know and please provide what OS you are using as that may be necessary if it is a file or permission issues.

  • How to delete the Preferences file in mavericks

I have seen advice to delete my preferences to fix some "wonky" behavior (radial filter doesn't show outlines when applying it) by LR 5.5.   I have Mavericks on my Mac, and can't find out where to do this.  Can anyone help?  Thanks.

    Preferences file location:
Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
Once you find the file, it can be deleted like any other file, but consider renaming it instead, so in case it doesn't help, you can rename it back..
    Quit Lightroom first!

  • After deleting FF preference file, Footers are now located higher on all printed pages, causing some one-page emails to extend to a second page.

I upgraded my Mac OS to 10.6.8 to see if that would solve some of my FF hanging issues. It did not. So I decided to try deleting the preferences file as suggested in the Troubleshooting section to see if that would help. Unfortunately after deleting the prefs.js file per the instructions, on all my printed pages the Footers are now located significantly higher on the page than they used to be. They are located about 3/4" up from the bottom of the page, whereas before they were always located about 1/4" up from the bottom of the page. (Thankfully, the headers are in the same spot as before, 1/4" down from the top of the page.)
I don't understand how this happened to the footer placement in deleting the preferences. The placement/location of the headers and footers is not something that the user can adjust in FF Preferences or in the Printing window as a preference. Only the content of the headers and footers can be modified in the Printing window.
I am stumped as to how this occurred. Is there a way to restore the footer placement back closer to the bottom of the page? The higher location of the footer is causing many of my lengthier one-page emails to have to extend onto a second page which is a waste of paper and file space.

Try resetting the Page Margins to what you were using before deleting the prefs file.

  • Boris 3D text editing window won't open without deleting FCP preferences

So, in my FCP7 projects, the Boris 3D text editing window won't open without deleting FCP preferences first. I've tried new projects, old projects, open all new windows on top settings. Once I delete the preferences, viola, opens right up. I can rebuild my preferences and after just a few days it won't open again... without preference delete.
I'm on a Macbook Pro 17'" i7 and do most of my editing on a 27" Apple Cinema Display. This is the only reason I could come up with. However I did some editing from the Macbook's screen and after 1 day, the Boris 3D editing window again refused to open. I have no idea. Is this is a known bug, etc.?
    Help!

With Final Cut not running, trash the Boris Title 3D preference file.
    /Library/Preferences/Title 3D Preferences
Also, you could have a corrupt or duplicate font file. Open FontBook and check it out.

  • Delete Lightroom preference file

Windows 7 64 bit. Currently with a Photographer CC bundle. Every time I open LR 5.5 and now 5.6 it acts as though its the first time and displays the tips dialog and changes my custom identity plate back to the original. On exit it prompts to backup even though I have it set to backup once a week on exit. My question is should I try to delete the preference file and try again or should I try a uninstall re install. How do you delete the preference file? I don't want to make things worse.

Deleting the preference file is the first and easiest thing to try -- it won't make things any worse:
Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
Reinstalling is the second thing to try.

  • Will Mountain Lion delete iWeb?

Considering upgrade to Mountain Lion, do not want to lose the iWeb package that was shipped with my iMac when I bought it mid July 2011. Does anyone know for sure if Mountain Lion deletes iWeb on install? Thank you.

I ran across a "hack" that will let one run Front Row with Lion:
Ralph Perdomo reports that he has ported OS X Front Row to Lion by moving several frameworks and the application itself from his old Snow Leopard install. He wrote up the procedure over on his weblog and has provided an optional installer for anyone who didn't keep a Snow Leopard install around.
Perdomo reports that the re-installed application seems to work well, and he does not seem to have run into conflicts from what I can tell. The frameworks/app in question are:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Front Row.app
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/BackRow.framework
    /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/iPhotoAccess.framework
    /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.RemoteUI.plist
    /Applications/Front Row.app  (Front Row 2 in folder)
TUAW has not had a chance to test this hack out, but we applaud Perdomo for his creativity in the face of OS upgrades.
I haven't tried it either so can't confirm or deny that it works.

  • I deleted iWeb, can I get it back?

I deleted iWeb from my computer thinking I will never use it. Now I need it. Is there anyway I could get it back?

    Use the install cd.

  • Delete iweb

Since iWeb is a discontinued product, is there any harm removing the app off my hard drive?
Same question for iWork09, obviously a non supported product and I move on to the new suite.
    Thanks,

As Wyodor has said you can delete iWeb if you'd like but it still can be used (iWeb 3 that is).  If you have no need to maintain an existing website or create one delete iWeb.
As for iWork 09 you might want to keep it as the current versions of Pages, Keynote and Numbers have been dumbed down a lot and you may find the older version to have more of the features you'd like. You can have both versions on your Mac to compare.
    Again it's your call.
