Deleting listing in Messages log after deleting individual text

I'm using an iPhone 6 and iOS 8.0.2. Pretend a contact sends me a text at 6:02 and then again at 8:25.  If I delete the individual message from 8:25, but keep the 6:02 message, why does the text stay listed in the messages log as 8:25, and not jump back down in the chronological order to 6:02?  When I used IOS 7 on my iphone 5, it would jump back to the last chronological message for the Messages listings.  Does this make sense?  Help!!

hmm, there might be.
I wanted to deploy Updates next Tuesday to two sites (one local, another via WAN Link). I have a larger package with all the updates for Win 7, Office 2010 and 2013. I replicated that package to the remote site over the WAN Link and got a failure message
that the drives were full.
When I checked the remote DP, there were 15GB free on the main drive. We added another 100GB one and used the "Content Library Transfer Tool" (from the SCCM 2012 R2 Toolkit) to transfer the files. The tool crashed at the end (Stopped Working), but it looks
like it transferred everything. The only thing that wasn't changed was the Registry Entry for the LibraryContent, which I adjusted for the new Drive.
I deleted the SCCMContentLib, SMSPKG$ and SMSSIG$ from the older drive. All this was done with the network cable unplugged, as a condition for this was that there be no activity on the DP during this process.
I then created a test package with only 2 updates that I distributed to the remote site. This worked OK. I removed the content again and then proceeded with triggering the distribution of the big package (Win7&Office). I guess it could be that he is
deleting the former content ebfore distributing it again to the remote site?

I would like to be able to delete individual text messages not a whole conversation. With the iOS 7 update this is no longer possible.

Yes, that's the way it works now.

  • HT3529 New 7.0 version update changes the way text messages are presented.  In the new version, I cannot figure out how to delete individual texts.  I can delete entire strings of messages, but I want to delete old texts, but keep the recent texts

The new version of the software for my iPhone 4 changed the way text messages are managed.
I can no longer delete individual texts from a text "conversation."  I also have not figured out how to forward texts, which I was able to do in the prior version.
Anyone know a way to edit out individual messages without losing the entire string?
Anyone know if there is a way to forward messages?

When you have the conversation open, if you tap & hold on a message bubble, you should get a new menu pop-up.  It should have 2 options "Copy" and "More..."  If you select the "More..." option it will then let you select one or more message bubbles and delete the selected ones by hitting the trach can icon in the lower left corner.  As for forwarding, you probably just select the "Copy" option, then paste the contents into a new message...

  • Deleting individual texts and not whole history

    Hi
How do I delete individual texts from a person and not the whole chat history? This used to be easy on my old bold as each message seemed to be treated seperately whereas on my new curve it's more like a messenger conversation.
Is it just me being old?
    Thanks
    Ed
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

While in a specific conversation, scroll to a certain text message and delete.
I updated my curve to a new software and the SMS view is different. In order to delete a certain text, I mus view it in my conversation unlike the old software where each text is separated. Rather than in conversations now.

  • After you delete individual text messages, the trash can will disappear and you can only DELETE ALL or cancel! It will come back after awhile but you can't delete everything you want to in one shot!

AAfter you delete several individual text messages, your trash can will disappear, and then you'll only have the option to delete all or cancel

And the message remains after a hard reset?

    Hi, all!
I have an iPhone 6 plus. I have lost the ability to delete a single line in a text. I can select it but it only gives me the option to delete the entire conversation. The trash bin icon is gone. Any thoughts?

    Hi jennifermckelvey,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on the issue you are describing. Are you not being given the option to to delete the individual message when you do the following?
Delete a message. Touch and hold a message or attachment, tap More, select additional items if desired, then tap .

  • Is it possible to delete individual instant messag...

I understand how to go into tools and delete my entire instant messaging history, but can I delete individual text messages and, if so, how?

    No.
Deleting individual calls requires iOS 5, which is not compatible with the iPhone 3G.  The latest iOS for the iP3G is 4.2.1.

  • Deleting individual recent phone calls on iPhone 4

Has anyone found a way to just delete only 1 recent call or do we still have to wipe the whole call history? I can delete individual emails, I can delete individual texts, but why can't I delete any recent call made, or received, or missed from the phone? Instead I have to delete ALL CALLS. Will someone at Apple integrate this into a future update please? Or if I just don't know how to do it please advise me. Thank you.

hi. it is not illegal to record a phone call if you have the permission of the person to whom you are talking. reporters do this all the time as do researchers in the US.
i suspect there are more apps out there for this and that they do a better job than the one you list but perhaps there are other sites for which such an inquiry would be more productive?
i wonder if anyone knows of a good place to post this that might be helpful in getting an answer or if there are other forum participants that have had success with something other than google.
i won't get into why google sees fit to include this functionality but apple does not as again it would be helpful to find a different app that handles this well on the iPhone.
    thanks anyway.

After upgrading the new operating system on my Droid Razr M it seems some useful features no longer work such as when typing a message the text anticipates the next word and when trying to delete individual messages from a contact, you can no longer tap and hold to select multiple message you have to delete them individually or the entire thread. Is there a way to get these back?

Well, that's kind of embarrassing. And I honestly thought I paid attention to that... It works perfectly now, thank you so much!
As expected, cdm-git also works fine since DMs only work in the root mode as of now.
Just for the record, both type commands output "/usr/bin/startx" and pacman -Q gives "systemd 215-4".

  • Cannot delete groups in buddy list in messages

After deleting a group in Messages Buddy List, the group comes back into the buddy list next time Messages is launched.  How do you delete permanently?

    Hi,
In Messages > Preferences > General Section untick the items that says about gathering all lists into one.
Now use the Window Menu to display all the separate Buddy lists.
Which List is this Group in ?  (I have never added a Group to a  Buddy list but it is also a long time since I did a group chat outside of iMessages)
Exactly how are you trying to delete it ?
To Delete a Buddy means highlighting them and then using the Backspace key and confirming the same in a dialogue.
Sometimes a Buddy will stay if an account is logged in twice.
Make sure all accounts possibilities are logged out.
This will include Web Logins which can be logged in for up to 2 weeks if you don't specifically Log out..
The second use of the Budd List will keep putting the Buddy back.
I have this issues with one Buddy in a Google List
If I log in to the Web Mail page and look at the chat list he does not appear.
However in Messages he keeps coming back.
I have launched all three Macs I have in iChat and Messages and made sure he is deleted across all of them - that they are logged out and I delete him in the final Login - nothing seems to work.
As far as I can tell from the web login this person has only emailed me.
Both Google and AIM have a 2 week default Login period if your don't log out before quitting the web page.
Don't forget Phones and work computers.

  • Can someone tell me how to delete a number which is stored in my messages list even though i have deleted the text message itself?

Hi.  Can anyone help me? I am trying to delete a phone number which appears in my Messages list even though i have deleted the text message content it came from.

Try logging into your Yahoo account from a computer, search out the contact you are trying to delete and manually correct or delete the bad contact.
The bad information might be hidden as a second address or other contact information (or misspelled) and not be showing up on the iphone but will pull up the address anyway.
I had one old address in a contact that kept pulling up each time i tried to email him. The new address was there, but the old address was what the phone kept showing. When I edited the contact info from my computer the old address went away, and the new address started poping up.
