Deleting message reply numbers

I am using Skype in Mac and we have changed our reply phone number to receive replies from text messages. I have verified the new number and have changed in Preference - > Messaging but occassionally it seems to change back to 1 of the older numbers in the list. Is there any way of deleting these older reply text numbers so they can't be defaulted back to?

I see you have already got it sorted..

  • Why do I get a error saying mail was unable to find your reply. You may have deleted message.

when sending email, I sometimes get an error stating: Mail was unable to find your reply to:  You may have deleted message. This does not happen with every sent message but it is doing it more and more. The reply is no where to be found.

  • Cannot delete message from Trash

    Hi
I have more than 10,000 deleted messages under Trash, in a folder named "on my mac".
When I try to empty that folder o just empy the whole Trash, Mail crashes due to the high volume.
I would like to delete those messages from the Finder, but I cannot find there the "on my mac" folder.
Any ideas on how to get rid of the deleted messages?
    Thank you.
    Eneko

The messages are .emlx files, but there is an index file that will still point to them unless they are deleted in mail.
    Try opening a few of the ( you say it's 60 000 now? it was 10 000 before ) messages - I hope you'll get a message saying they can't be displayed.
If you do, go to the mail menu Mail-Mailbox-Rebuild . this should re-work the index so it reflects the true number of messages.
Having said that - have you tried just deleting the mailbox, rather than trying to empty it? highlight the 'on my mac' trash mailbox & choose Mail-Mailbox-Delete.
Failing all that - I'd be tempted to move your wanted messages to various new mailboxes, ( in modest numbers per mailbox - perhaps not numbered in the 10 000's?) make a copy somewhere safe of the entire Mail folder, then force Mail to start from scratch & import your old wanted messages into mail.
To do this - after you've created your new mailboxes & moved the messages you want to keep into them; copied the Mail folder and Quit Mail
In Finder locate home/library/mail/ & trash that folder.
Then locate home/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist & move it onto the desktop, just in case things go wrong. ( I mean Move, don't leave the original file in the Preferences folder )
Open Mail again - you'll be asked for account details ( you wrote them down first?)
Just in case you get asked "do you want to import..." at this stage - Don't do it.
Then. from Mail, use Mail-File-Import Mailboxes & point it to the "mailboxes" folder inside the copy of the Mail folder you made.
Choose only the new mailboxes that you made, & moved your wanted messages to . Import them & they should all be viewable in mail.
Try the 'rebuild' or delete mailbox first though - & if any of the above isn't crystal clear - ask before you proceed.

  • Imessage never deletes messages and shows them to anyone who wants to see them

here's the problem that in my opinion can cost millions of $$ in court for Apple:
iMesage never deletes conversations. If you delete a converstion from the list, it is still cached on the device. Problem is present in iOS6 & iOS7.
    Do the following:
    1) spotlight settings should have messages selected for search results
    2) open Messages.app and delete a conversation that had iMessages there
    3) open spotlight and search for something that the dialog contained
*not everything will be found though, I guess it doesn't cache everything or delete the oldest / doesn't cache the newest nessages fast*
    4) you will be surprised when your deleted conversation shows up
    5) for an even more unpleasant surprise, turn off and log out from imessage. Your conversations will still be displayed in spotlight.
Best words to look up on your significant other's iDevice: dear, kiss, love etc.
    6) To make things even more interesting, spotlight will neither display the sender of the message (i.e. if it is a message or reply from your contact), nor the date. Plus it picks phrases out of context in such a way, that they will look more than interesting.
P.S. iMessage ruined my relationship with a girlfriend. Should I mention how angry I am?
P.P.S. the only way to stop iMessage from hijacking deleted conversations and terrorising you is to do a clean restore of the device. Set it up as new. Cached messages are backed up - if you restore from backup, they will still be there.
    Some images to clarify this:

You said you text a lot - if your inbox and sent message folder is FULL, it could also cause delays. Try deleting messages, then restart the phone. It should work until the folders are full; then delete and restart, or just delete your messages every day.

  • Deleted message not removed from iPhone Inbox

Since updating my iPhone 3G to 4.01 I have found that when I delete messages from the inbox the messages are not completely removed from the inbox. I am left with a blank unread message. The only way I can completely delete is to turn the phone off and restart. Is anybody else having this problem? I have also found that I lose service in places I have been able to use the phone.

  • Deleted messages from in box and sent box do not appear in trash

For years deleted messages from my in box and sent box appeared in the trash where I would hold them for a week or two just in case I had to retrieve a message I had deleted. About 6 months ago deleted messages stopped showing up in the trash. What do I do to get deleted messages to once again appear in the trash? I'm no computer geek... please be gentle with any suggestions. Thank You.
    Ron Mabey

While trying to find a solution, I am discovering my mail problem is much deeper than just messages not appearing in the "Sent" mailbox.  I have found some of them appearing in the "Trash" mailbox and some appearing there mulitple times, often with my account name in the "TO" field.  I'm also finding some unread mail there that should be in the "Junk" mailbox.  So it would appear there are many problems with ISO 7 and mail.  I have tried deleting and restablishing the account and two complete iPhone restores.  Neither helped. What is the biggest puzzle is that on my second iPhone, the one that upgraded without an error, mail is working perfectly well.  Has anyone found a solution to any mail problems on ISO 7 devices?  If so, please reply.

  • Is there a way to recover deleted mail from my iPad and recover deleted messages from my onw iPhone?

Is there a way to recover deleted mails sent from iPad and/or recover deleted messages from my iPhone?
A software or even open it? It is very important for me get back the messages sent on December. I did not have a back up at that time, at least that I know, but I change my iPhone and had as I got a micro chip, I could take my contacts from iTunes.
Does it means a back up was done at the Note book I used that time or the messages are lost?
And my mails? From my server, I can recover only from 5 last days!
    Thank you for any help!!

Thanks for replying - no, I had not done a backup since the shots were taken and then attemped to put them in an album as I did not want to change the enviornment of the phone from when I had inadvertently delted them.   Unfortunatlely, when asked "Do you want to delete these photos from all locations," I hit yes and they were also deleted from my Photostream.

  • Can't open, delete or reply to emails

    Hi
    I really need your help.
I use my emails to work and am now behind with work as since last night I cannot open, delete or reply to emails.
I can open the account, but it will only show the text of one email. If I want to delete it, there is absolutely no action. I cannot open other emails and when tried to reply, it was sending it for hours with no success (maybe it was sent, but it was still showing the message that it's in the process of sending. Nothing appeared in the sent folder.
Please help as I really need it to work.
    Thank you
    Maggie

  • I have set the Message History setting to delete messages after 30 days. Since doing this, Messages app is quite buggy.

I have no need to keep huge, old Messages conversations, so I recently set the Message History to delete messages after 30 days. Since doing this, however, I have noticed that the Messages app has become fairly buggy. Sometimes I'll open the app and it will look like there's no conversations, and the app prompts me to send a new message. Sometimes, I'll open the app to reply to an incoming message and my response will hang at 90% sent and then when I go back to the conversation list, it displays my outgoing, as-yet-unsent response as a new message, complete with little blue new message marker. The only way I have found to temporarily resolve these issues is to restart the phone. What's going on here?

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that you need to apply a rule to delete messages older than 30 days for all mailboxes in your environment. Is it right? If I misunderstand, please point it out.
As all above suggestions, we can use retention tags and retention policies in Exchange 2013 to achieve it. To apply it, we can try the following steps:
    1. Login to Exchange Admin Center(EAC) in Exchange 2013 as an administrator.
    2. Click compliance management > retention tags.
    3. Click New Tag > applied automatically to entire mailbox(default).
    4. Edit the Name, Retention action and Retention period(30 days), then
    Save it.
    5. Click Retention Policies tab > New.
    6. Edit Name and add the Retention tags you created a moment ago. And
    Save it.
    7. Navigate to Recipients > Mailboxes.
    8. In the list view, use the Shift or Ctrl keys to select multiple mailboxes.
    9. In the details pane, click More options.
    10. Under Retention Policy, click Update.
    11. In Bulk Assign Retention Policy, select the retention policy you created to apply to the mailboxes, and then click
    Save.
    Hope it helps.

As you are on a residential service you have to wait for engineer availability priority is given to Business users as they get a different service level agreement also using a residential line for business use can leave you open for suspension or cancellation of service as it breach's the terms and conditions

  • Deleting Messages from Pop Server

I downloaded the new software and now my phone is deleting messages from the server when I delete the message from my phone. I checked the phone settings and it was set on "never" under deleting from server. Is this a bug in the new software. Is there a fix?

    Wjosten,
    Thanks for your continued responses.
How old is the info you got regarding Earthlink settings? I went through both my account settings, and my Webmail settings, and could not find the exact settings below. In fact, this seems to be more of a setting when you set up a desktop mail client (e.g. Part of Outlook setup). See here for an example: http://support.earthlink.net/articles/email/setting-up-outlook-2007-to-send-and- receive-email.php (it is on the last screenshot)
Regardless, I only use the webmail, and I thought that if I delete mail on the iPhone, then the setting on the iPhone to delete mail from the server should do that.
Any thoughts on whether there is something buggy with the iPhone? I had another strange iPhone problem which was fixed by deleting the acccount, logging into Gmail and recreating the account. The problem was that Gmail on the iPhone would let me send new mail, but if I tried to Reply to a message, it would not work and the error was that there was no password!

  • Mail:Cannot erase messages from Deleted Messages folder located on my mac

    Hi,
I recently ran a script to discover that I have hundreds of thousands of messages sitting in the Deleted Messages folder located on my mac. I tried to erase them but no luck, no error messages of any kind but the messages are still there. Can anyone help with me with this as these unwanted messages are taking up a lot of space. I have run a disk verify just to check permissions etc and all is ok.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
Many thanks for you reply. Yes it looked like the deleted messages from an old exchange account I had had were sitting in a folder on my mac and this was visible in the sidebar. However it was not simply called deleted messages it was named deleted messages (xxx xxx) where xxx xxxx was the name of the old mailbox. So when I went to mailbox to erase deleted messages this folder was not picked up. So I moved everything in the folder to the trash folder (took a long time) and then selected the option to erase trash on quitting. It took hours and hours when I quit mail but I left it running overnight and now the folder is empty and mail is functioning ok. Thanks again for your help

  • IPhone empties trash although 'Deleted Messages, Remove' Set to 'Never'

    Hi,
My iPhone is set to 'Never' remove deleted messages but it seems to empty my trash daily.
If I set it to 'After one month' then it doesn't delete everything immediately, can anyone help? (It's running version 1.1.1)
    Thanks,
    Phillip

    Hello,
    Thanks for your reply.
I am connecting using IMAP, to my own mail server (Mac OS Server 10.4, fully updated) running on a Mac Mini G4.
Mail.app on my MacBook Pro (and other Macs) connect flawlessly and move deleted email to my Trash folder. I have Mail.app on all these machines set to 'Never delete trash'. I have therefore managed to maintain an extensive history of all my deleted email in my Trash folder without any problems.
However, the iPhone seems to move deleted Mail to the trash folder (correctly) but then deletes everything older than (roughly) one day old, even though "Deleted Messages" is set to "Remove Never".
If I set "Deleted Messages" to "After one month" they are not deleted immediately, I am unsure if they are then deleted after a month.
    Any suggestions?

When trying to delete messages in mail, I've been getting this message:“74608.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists."  The numbers at the beginning are always different but the ".emlx" and the rest of the statement is always the same.  How can I fix this problem?
