Deleting movies on an iPad

If I delete a movie on my iPad can access it again because I bought it on iTunes? Would it just delete off my iPad and then if I want to watch it again, I would download it off iCloud or sync up with my iTunes account on my computer right? Just checking..

If you downloaded the movie in iTunes on your computer and then transfered it to your iPad then the movie is still in iTunes on your computer  - you can remove it from the iPad and then sync it back to the iPad when you want to watch it again.
If you only have the movie on the iPad, if you delete it, you will have to buy it again. You cannot download movies again from iCloud like you can download purchased apps, music, books and TV shows.

I deleted movies from my ipad I had bought on my ipad, how do I redownload these on my computer?

Tap the iTunes app icon on the iPad to launch it. Then tap the Purchased Tab on the bottom of the iTunes window. That will take you a window that shows all of your iTunes purchases. Tap the View button on the top left and you can choose music or TV shows from the resulting menu. Select TV shows. You can enter the name of the show in the search and if the show appears, tap the TV show name in the list on the left, then tap the TV Show icon in the window on the right and then tap on the cloud icon in the next window that pops up to download it.

  • How can I delete movies from my iPad that it thinks are in the cloud?

I noticed that I was running out of space on my 32 GB iPad Air running iOS 7.1, so I looked at my pictures and moved them to iCloud and then deleted most of my un-used apps. This did not help in the gaining back a ton of space. So I looked at my videos. I have purchased content from itunes through the apple tv, and have watched some of it on my iPad. It is not clear to me if it downloads those files when I do this or if they are streaming like on my Apple TV.
Anyway, when I hit the edit button in the video section none of the videos display the little "x" symbol letting you know that you can delete them. Instead, all of them show the "cloud" symbol even the movies and TV shows I watched. So I then turned on airplane mode and went back to Videos. I thought no wi-fi = no connection to the cloud = list of videos stored locally. This is where it gets weird. The majority of the "Purchased" items normally shown with the "cloud" symbol were not there, however the videos that I had watched were listed and still had the "cloud" symbol on them. They even played in airplane mode like they were stored locally. The problem occurs when I go to delete them. When I hit the edit button I cannot select these videos, it is treating them as if they are in the cloud even though I know they are taking up space locally.
Is anybody elese having this problem?

Based on previous discussions and in this thread I went to I went to Settings > General > Usage > Storage > Show all Apps > Videos.  My iPad Air indicates no data.  Sync movies and TV are unchecked in iTunes.
iTunes is showing I have 12.61GB of data and 92 videos.
    Any other ideas?

  • I'm trying to delete movies on my iPad and iPhone cannot

Why can I not delete some movies I bought at iTunes a while back I've tried everything -- opening up video app and doing the tap and hold thing, the swiping left to right thing ... Nothing there isn't even a edit icon on top right corner ... I need more space and I do not warn to buy more and the movies I don't even watch anymore I also turned deleting in the iTunes app to no luck

Do the movies have a cloud icon next to them? If they do, they are not on the iPad anyway and can be hidden in Settings>iTunes and App Store>Show all>Videos>Off.
If that's not it, try deleting the videos in Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Videos> there is an Edit Button in the upper right corner. Tap that.

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option which is revealed in the iTunes app on your iOS device by tapping the more button at the bottom of the screen.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.
Try deleting the problematic book (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iBook store.

  • I stupidly deleted movies from my iPad after having made an iMovie ! Can I get them back?

Of course now my movie doesn't work. It would have been nice to have a warning that there was a link.

I feared as much! There is no warning that your iMovie projected is linked to the videos. On the Mac it is different. Lesson learned I guess.
Disappointing Apple to give a warning
    Thanks anyway Texas Mac Man

I was downloading a movie on my iPad and I stopped downloading it and I want to delete it and it won't. How do you delete it in the iTunes for iPad.

If you tap and hold down the icon - and the X does not appear on the icon - you will not be able to delete it without totally downloading it. Finish the download and then delete it.

How can I delete a watched rented movie from my Ipad before its expiration date?

    Hello, K M Cartwright.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
You definitely can delete the movie prior to the expiration date.  However, the movie will automatically disappear from your iTunes library 24 (or 48) hours after you've begun viewing it.  Here are the steps on how to delete iTunes media.

  • Can I delete purchased movies from my iPad to save space once it has been synced to iCloud

    Hi,
I have 2 movies that I purchased on my iPad - The space is cramped now and I'm deleting apps to download new items.  I am not to familiar with the iCloud and I see my movies in there on the iMac - am I now able to delete these purchased movies off my iPad and still retain access to them through the iCloud (on my iPad)?  If so, how would I find them once I delete them?
    Thank you for your help!!
    Beth

    Hi Beth,
Yes, you can delete them from your iPad. If you want to re-download them in future, you would click on the iTunes app, then on More>Purchased>Movies>Not on this iPad, and then would click on the little cloud to the right of the movie you want to re-download.
    Cheers,
    GB

  • Can't delete movies from iPad 2

I have an iPad 2 and I cannot delete movies from it.  I have tried going into the movie icon but there is no edit function.  Also, synced it to itunes but the movies on the ipad that I want to delete are not in my itunes library.  I went to Settings / General / Storage / movies (no data).  I am at a loss and need help.

Is there a little cloud on each movie?
The cloud icon means it isn't on the iPad, but in the cloud for download.
You can hide the movies in your iTunes account so they no longer show.   You can unhide later it you want.

  • Deleting movies on iPad

I was doing some housekeeping on the Pad and deleted a movie from last year's '12 Days' thinking it would appear on iCloud as per apps/songs/TV episodes. However not he case. When I go into the Store, the movie is there at full price with no 'downloaded' tag or iCloud symbol. It's on our main PC from last Sync but I had assumed 'deleted' movies would have same storage as app etc. Thoughts/Help.

Films are currently a one-time only download and won't appear in the cloud. If you have it on your computer then you can sync it back to the iPad if you want it there, but you won't be able to re-download it from Apple without re-purchasing.
