Deleting Music on Ipod Mini

I have some songs I'd like to delete off my iPod Mini. How do
I go about doing so?
I would also like to change some of the names of the songs on there because they are spelt wrong. How do I do this?
Would it be easier to wipe out my whole iPod and just put all my songs back on it? If so, how would I do so?
Thanks!

When the ipod is plugged in, in Edit>Prefernces>iPod, turn it to Only Update Checked Songs
Then, uncheck all of the songs you want off of you ipod.
(You can do this in reverse order, it doesn't matter.

how to recover deleted music from ipod touch?

This is not a complicated problem. And you can easilly solve it. Here is the way about how to recover music from iPod.
1 Connect your iPod to your computer to restore custom ringtones and ringtones saved to the computer.
2 Click the "iPod" button in iTunes, or select your iPod in the sidebar if you enabled the option to show the sidebar.
3 Select the "Tones" tab, check the box for each ringtone you want to transfer to your iPhone, and then click "Sync."
Sometimes a 3 party tool such as Data Recovery may help you in a easy way.

• Cannot delete music from ipod touch, tried everything suggested thus far.

I have tried several suggestions up to this point and nothing has worked. It is my understanding that everything in My Music, (on my PC) transfers to the iTunes program, either manually or automaticlly. It is also my understanding that if I add or delete music from iTunes, that it will automatically be added or deleted on my iPod Touch, (4th gen). Well, none of this has proven to be true...at best, it is sporatic and frustrating. Any new ideas out there?

Thanks for the help....I tried your suggestion, but I am still experiencing inconsistent results.
Buy doing what?...
You need to be more specific about what you are trying. "I've tried several suggestions" tells us nothing. You've tried my suggestion (but I made two - dependant upon what you are doing), but you haven't told me how you are managing your iPod, are you using Sync or manually managing? Without that knowledge, everything else is meaningless.
If you are using Sync, and you have selected *Sync only ticked songs and videos,* then un-ticking a song and then performing a Sync will remove the song. So what are you doing?

• Cannot delete music from iPod nano (latest generation).  Have already selected "Manually Manage music and videos" but delete is unavailable from right click or Edit.

I have done everything I've seen recommended for deleting music (jncluding "manually manage").  Thanks for the assistance!!!

Did you Apply the change after selecting (checking the box for) Manually manage music and videos?
With the latest iTunes, if the sidebar is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.
In the sidebar, select the iPod under DEVICES.  Click the toggle (to the left of iPod) to drop down the iPod's content list, indented under iPod.  Click on Music there.  Over to the right, the list of songs on the iPod is shown.  You can select songs there, right click on them, and select Delete from the contextual menu.  You can also select songs there, go up to the menu bar, and select Delete under Edit.  You can also select songs there, and just press the Delete key on the keyboard.
If you want to use automatic syncing, which is far more convenient than the manual method, and easily manage content on the iPod (add and remove songs), please post back.

• Help! Can't transfer music to iPod Mini!

Hi there!
I had some CDs that went with my iPod mini that I do not have with me right now for installation when I wanted to set my iPod up with my computer.
So instead of using the CDs, I downloaded iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ ... and I installed it on my computer. I have a Windows XP so I downloaded the one for Windows and so I installed iTunes.
I've got iTunes set up and added music to my library but now I want to transfer it to my iPod mini. I connected the iPod to the computer's USB port and something popped up saying I needed to update my version or something for my iPod...
So I did. I downloaded something called IPodSetup ... something similar to downloading the update for my iPod http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/iPodUpdaterXP/ ... this isn't the website I downloaded it from but I downloaded the update from Apple's site I think.
Upon installing that, it said that it was complete in updating... and so I reconnected my iPod and I get the "Please do not disconnect" ... and it pulls up a folder of some folders inside that for my iPod, and it doesn't stop saying "Please do not disconnect" ... I've looked in the mini-help adobe file but nothing there helped me either.
Please someone help! I'd love to transfer music again to my iPod. I've reset my iPod so far... thought that might help.

Yes. I have done that. I installed the update and then I connect the iPod to the USB port to the computer.
When I do that, at the top left of my mini, a circle rotates clockwise I think with two arrows, and it loads my iPod as a driver I think... atleast that is what I think happens. It opens a window as "my name IPO (F:)" and inside that window is three folders

• Itunes deleting music on ipod because the original file culd not be found

The music on my ipod is being deleted when i start syncing my music from iTunes to my ipod. The thing is all the music on my ipod is still on Itunes. This started happening recently, it was all fine before.Since the original file cant be found on Itunes how do you stop it from deleting off your ipod?
Also could it be a problem since my music is stored on a separate hard drive, maybe thats why the original file cant be found, even though its still connected to the computer.
If it cant be fixed then is there an easy way to find the original files so the i wont have to find the "lost" files then delete them and sync them over again.
Could it be deleting the files off my ipod because half the songs on Itunes "could not find the original file" even though the songs are on my ipod already?

I use manual sync for that very reason.
And also for that very reason, I maintain my iTunes folder on my laptop as a backup for my iPod; I only delete "songs" when I want to remove them from my iPod, and I use auto sync because I can. If I ever have to restore (and I did once, when I had to have my iPod replaced), I know I can do a complete job of it.
(Should my iPod files exceed the capacity of my laptop hard disk, I'll probably switch to using a folder on an external drive for this purpose.)

• Transfer music from iPod mini to iPod with video

I'm going to be spending a few nights at my friend's house and they plan on giving me their iPod with video. I currently have the iPod mini and I was just wondering if there's a way (in Windows XP) if I can get my music and playlists from my iPod mini to my new iPod with video at my friend's house so I don't have to wait until i can go home and connect it to my PC.

Actually Problem solved!
if anyone wants to know the steps here they are
*make sure your iPod is enabled for hard disk use*
-on your PC, export the library and any playlists to a flash drive or CD (in this case, I'm using a flash drive)
-create a new user account in Windows
-open and setup iTunes
-connect the iPod that has the music you want
-go to FILE then IMPORT, and select all your playlist text files along with your library xml file and import
-when done, connect your NEW iPod and format it
-then sync the music and there you go! all your songs on a new iPod when you don't have access to your PC!

• Help! I can't download updates or music to iPod Mini.

Up to last night my iPod mini has worked perfectly. Now today, I added more songs to my library and unchecked a number of songs within the library and tried to update my iPod with the revised music listing.
However, no I get the following error message: "Attempting to copy to disk "iPod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to." I subsequently retored the iPod, using the new updater, and reloaded iTunes etc, as well as rebooting the PC. Also changed USB ports...
Can anyone tell me what I need to do? I have a factory setting iPod with no music on and apparenly no way of putting any music on it!

My iPod Mini refuses to play (any longer!!!) the songs I bought in the Music Store. It just skips the songs from the moment they are activated. In iTunes the music is played without any problems.

• Keeping current music on ipod mini

Hello Everyone
I recently purchased a 30gb ipod with color display, however I sold my ipod mini. The person that I sold the mini to really like my selection of music. I am up and running with my new 30gb ipod. How can the the new owner of the mini keep the current songs on the mini and move forward. Is there a way to do this now that they need to start with their own computer?
Thanks.

If the new owner wants the music, you should send him your original CDs.
If you don't want to do that, he should erase all the music and purchase it himself, otherwise it is stealing.

• ITunes won't let me select my own music for iPod Mini

Every time I connect my iPod Mini, iTunes generates the following message:
"The iPod cannot be updated because there is not enough free space to hold all of the songs in iTunes music library. Would you like iTunes to automatically select a playlist for you?"
If I click the "Cancel" button, the iTunes closes my iPod mini connection. If I click "Yes", I have no control over what iTunes downloads and cannot erase and replace the songs it chooses for me.
I have already removed and downloaded the iTunes and iPod mini and Updater sofware onto my hard drive. What can I do to have more control over what iTunes puts onto my iMini???
Help!!

Go into iPod preferences (while the iPod's attached) and choose "Update selected playlists" and you'll be able to pick the playlists you want on the iPod.
Or you could switch it to manual and drag the songs to the iPod icon . . .

• Transferring music to iPod mini via Bonjour

Hello,
Currently enjoying a mac mini since over a year now, we have three iPods connected to it. In a few weeks, we will buy to our son a MacBook (lucky him !) ... well, I was thinking about sharing the music from the mac mini so he can access and play it, but will he be able to manage his iPod mini playlist and transfer his music accessing this shared music library via Bonjour ? or am I confusing things here and would there be another way ? Thank you.
Mac mini   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iTunes 6.0.5

When you come up with a good solution be sure to share it!! My wife and I each have our own computer but when she bought her iPod at first she synced it with mine. Worked fine, except while we have a great deal in common, there is music she likes that I don't. And I sometimes resented that she was sitting at my computer ripping CDs when I wanted to use it. I also didn't appreciate how fast she was 'wasting' my hard drive space.
Fine - we eventually bought an external drive for her music and all was fine. But now she rips new CDs, I rip new CDs and we don't always alert each other to these in a timely manner. The other day I discovered she'd bought the Tom Petty boxed set months ago and I hadn't known about it. Grrrr! Sometimes I think about trying out a networked drive but I've never gotten around to it because if it doesn't work out - why else would I want a networked drive?
