Deleting old events

I imported a lot of old events from Palm Desktop and want to delete everything more than a year old. But ical won't let me change the default for deleting old events from "more than 30 days" which is much too short a period for me.
I am losing NEW events when I sync and think maybe the file size is too large.

  • ICal not deleting old events

When i upgraded to Leopard, iCal stopped deleting old events. I have it set to delete events older than 30 days, and it's not doing it. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

It's a bug, it didn't work for me in Tiger either. I have the preference set to delete To Do items one day after they are completed. It rarely does. Sometimes it will work, and then it won't. It's flakey.

  • Is the calendar supposed to delete old events?

I like to use my calendar as a record of my activity, but my old events keep deleting.  Can I stop this from happening?

It will keep as far back as you set it to keep.

  • Sync phone with iCal deletes old events in iCal

Whenever I use iSync to sync my mobil phone old events in iCal are deleted. This never used to happen, I need the old events for work. Can anyone help?

I also upgraded to the latest version of Blackberry Desktop Manager for Mac v 1.0.6 (Build 16).
I synchronized my calendar and EVERYTHING from iCal was deleted.  Fortunately, my Blackberry Calendar is intact.  Despite this annoyance, this is still a major improvement over the first time I installed the desktop (sarcasm intended).
I also tried creating an event on iCal and synchronized.  This new event sychronized with my Blackberry.  When I open the event the Send Using entry is the same email address that I used for all my other entries on my Blackberry.
So basically, my Blackberry Events don't sync to my iCal, but my iCal events sync with my Blackberry.
<RANT> It is very baffling why RIM hasn't been able to solve these problems for the past 3 years.  I'm still happier using Parallels with Microsoft Outlook (it hurts to say that) than using this unreliable product.  It's things like these that prevent me from using my Mac Calendar and Address Book.  The proposition value for switching to an iPhone is looking better every day.</RANT>

  • IPhone sync to iCal not deleting old events!!

Can anyone help me? I just upgraded to the 10.5.2 and since that moment every time I change an event in my iCal and sync with my iPhone the iPhone keeps the old events and adds the new ones, so I end up having tons of duplicates. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution? Thanks

If you are in Toronto using an unlocked iPhone, I am not sure anyone here is going to be able to come up with a solution for a problem you are having once unlocked...
Apple relocks their iPhones if you upgrade to the eventual 1.1.4 or update iTunes. I don't know if they also change registry settings at all causing certain things to not work properly on unsupported iPhones.
IF you are using a standard ATT-based Apple supported iPhone, you can also try uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling, and resyncing to see if that helps.
Also - make sure that while connected under the INFO tab, you have the correct calendar selected for where you want to place new events, in case it somehow got unchecked during the update process.
I don't know about you, but 10.5.2 changed none of my settings and everything is syncing properly to iCal in both directions.

  • Why is iCloud deleting old events in iCal, older than 2 months?

I'm using an iMac, MacBook & iPhone 4 to sync my calendars with iCloud. Running Lion, everything is up to date w/IOS 5.  I initially set up iCloud to sync everything from my iMac to the cloud so all my old calendar items would be there (from several years past). It also synced to my other devices no problem.  Now I only see 2 prior months worth of events on any of them! Everything before that is gone. I though my iPhone may have been the culprit but my iPhone was set to sync the past 3 months of events so I don't understand why it's only showing the past 2 months.
What I'd like to do is sync everything one time so it's there, but on future syncs have it only sync the most recent stuff (3 months). I don't want it searching the whole database from 3 years ago to find stuff to sync, just want it to leave that stuff there, on all my devices.  Right now it keeps deleting the old stuff.
Any ideas what the source of my problem is?
If it's the iPhone setting to sync only the past 3 months, is there a way to keep old items in the calendar, but only "sync" the latest stuff? Or is my only option to select "sync all events"?
    thanks.

I think I solved it. My Macbook was set to delete items after 60 days.  Grrrrr....

  • How to delete old events in fault history?

    hi,
I wanted to delete all my old alerts in DFM. I am aware that ciscoworks has only last 31 days events/alers in the fault history, which basically would be in the database dfmfh.db. My problem here is that i have more than 183000 alerts in the fault history for a month, I dont wanted all of these alerts now.
    /gopi

There is no way to control the amount of time data lives in Fault History.  As you pointed out, data will be retained for one month.  You can reinitiatize the Fault History database, but that would destroy all FH data.

  • Deleting old calendar events

Is there any way to delete old events from the calendar, eg. from 2007 back for instance? This includes iphone, mobileme and home computers.

Depends entirely on the calendar app you're using. On the iPhone, no. But, if you are syncing via iTunes, there's a checkbox to eliminate syncing of events older than a certain number of days. Outlook (Windows) has an archiving tool which can delete old calendar events. iCal (Mac) does not.

  • How to automatically delete iCal events

I've finally gotten to a "technical place" where I have an iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone for my wife and I.  Life is good!!
I've made the switch to iCloud and now manage my calendar on all devices, but I can't seem to find how to set up my calendar to automatically delete old events.
I would assume that events that were created as the "start" of a repeating event should not be deleted, but those events that I create as non-repeating have little or no value to remain.
Is there a way to have iCal automatically delete events in the past?
    Jim P.

    Jim,
Log into iCloud.com, open the Web App Calendar, click on the Prefereces cog, and make the appropriate selections in "Advanced."

  • ICal synch wants to delete old entries

Recently when I use BB Desktop to synch with my new MacBook, it wants to add 2, modify 482 and delete 1053. The first 2 are not a problem but I do not want to delete old iCal entries.
I've tried adjusting to synch only Future or synch between -999 and +999 days to no avail.
What work around can I use to get back to synching?
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

This helped me for this problem...
On your BlackBerry, go to the Calendar, then press the Menu button, and select Options. Do you have a settings that says "Keep Appointments" set for a specified time.
If yes, you will need to change that to forever.
Once I changed that, I did an overwrite sync of the BlackBerry (I use Missing Sync). Then normal syncing worked fine without deleting old events.

  • When I sync my iPod to my MacBook through iTunes new events do not show up and old events are not deleted. I am using Snow Leopard  and not iSync.

I am using Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have an iPod touch 3G. I do not use iSync it Mobile Me. When I sync my iPod through iTunes new events on my iPod do not show up on my Mac and old events do not delete. I have read help instructions that include deleting the data on the iPod. The iPod has the correct data and the Mac does not so I have not followed those instructions. I need help as the only reason I bought the Mac was to be able to sync, back up, view and print my calendar. Currently it is useless. If only Apple could have learned from the elegance of the Palm software.

  • IPad deleting single events over 30 days old

I just noticed tonight that my iPad has been deleting non-recurring events over 30 days old. I'm syncing over MobileMe, and all the old events remain there and in my Mac iCal calendars just fine, so the data is OK. However, syncing with MobileMe will not return the old events to my iPad's calendar.
I've tried turning off Calendars for MobileMe syncing in the Settings area, and then turning it back on to refresh/restore, but it still only brings in all old recurring events and non-recurring new events within the last 30 days.
When syncing with iTunes, there's an item in the Info tab area to force a push of the calendars on the Mac to the iPad, and an option to limit how far back you want the sync to grab the old data. I've tried that, and did successfully get the old data back onto my iPad, however, now I have multiple/multicolored Home calendars cluttering my iPad. I can selectively turn some off, but that doesn't resolve the issue, since it's a one-time event, and over the next 30 days new non-recurring events are going to be daily deleted. Additionally, since I merged the Home calendars when it asked me to decide what to do, I now have multiple Home calendars listed in iTunes which duplicates what gets copied every time if I choose to do this again. I can't find any way to clean up the iTunes bug, since it's clearly not just re-reading my iCal events, which remain OK.
Is anyone else observing this calendar behavior with their iPad? My iPhone 4's old data is all there, as it's supposed to be, so this issue may be resolved down the road with an iOS update for the iPad. I can't find any setting to assure my MobileMe syncing brings in all my old non-recurring events (which I need for on-the-go checks back on old events).
I guess I'm just looking for anyone else who can confirm their non-recurring events are disappearing after 30 days.
    Thanks for listening...

On your iPad, go to settings and then Mail, Contacts, Calendars and see what you have the sync option set for under calendars. You have different options to choose from, and I would think that yours is set for 1 month. To get rid of all the duplicate calendars on the iPad, just turn off mobile me syncing, which will delete all the calendars on the iPad, and then turn it back on and you should be good to go.

  • Automatically Delete Calendar Events Older Than a Day old.

I am trying to have SharePoint automatically delete any events that are a day old.  I have a vacation calendar that needs to remove any older dates and only keep up to date with the new ones.  I have tried to search for the solution and cant

My calendar keeps deleting new events and if I make a change to an old event it keeps reverting it back to its original time. How do it stop this from happening?

How do you update it? Basically what has happened my password was disabled for "security reasons" on sunday (21/10/12), so i tried to reset it, but for some reason i couldnt get into my old email (probably because i havent used it for 2 years), so i read on here i could swap it to a new email that i currently use (which is what i have done) ive swapped everythin over to it (facetime, iCloud etc) but keeps coming up with old email and asking for password
