Deleting old iWeb Pages

Hi there.
I've used iWeb from more than one computer with different iWeb domain libraries in the past. Deleted all the old pages & sites I don't need via iWeb but loggin on to me.com shows a lost of old pages that are still up there. Some from even very old iWeb libraries.
Tried manually deleting these stray pages via ME interface but can't delete files that way. Any advice on how to reset and clear my iWeb pages on the ME iDisk?

From Finder press Shift/Command/I to go to your iDisk. Enter your login credentials if necessary. From your iDisk you can view your published files. Select the folders/files you'd like to delete and press delete.

  • Deleting old iweb site

i have an old iweb site from 2006 that i need to bring down yet do not have the original domain file. Google webmaster denied request to make it unsearchable.
any ideas on how to do this?

Where are you hosting the site? If it's MobileMe just mount your iDisk, go to the iDisk/Web/Sites folder and drag the site folder to the trash bin in the Dock.
If it's a 3rd party hosting service, can you access the server with an FTP client like Transmit or the free Cyberduck which lets you access your directory/folder in a Finder like window? If so then just select the site folder and drag it to the trash.
If you can't access the server to delete files create a new site with iWeb, one that has the same site name and only one blank page, and publish that to the server.

  • How can I edit my old iWeb-page?

Started playing with iWeb in 08 and then forgot about it. Now I want to get started again and wish to use my old page. Is it possible to get all the info to my iWeb even though I don't have it on my computer? Or is the easiest thing just to start all over again?

    Thanks.
Good reading. Unfortunately I was a bit eager and deleted my page online as well by trying to upload a new one just to see if that would give me an account-login. I was already logged in. :S Although I have used mac for several years I still have a lot to learn. :P But I'm starting againg. New page and a lot on my mind.

  • How to remove old iWeb pages off internet which are no longer in iWeb program?

This is my current looking website - www.pholife.co.uk
    which goes to - 'www.pholife.co.uk/pholife/Start.html'
when googling 'pholife tom bird' an older website under the same domain name appears in the search list before the pholife/start.html page
The old website and various pages -
    http://www.pholife.co.uk/pholife/pholife/Home.html
this website ^^^ was the same project as the professional looking one which i changed 6 months ago. If people google me, they will be led to a page which isnt the page I wish for them to see as it is ranked higher in the google search as it is older.
Some how along the line I removed the second 'pholife' from the URL so my new looking website has a different path I suppose.
How do i remove the 'www.pholife.co.uk/pholife/pholife/home.html' website all together, i have opened the package contents of iweb in application support but not sure where to start.
Lastly how do i remove the pholife/start so when people go to my website the URL is simply 'www.pholife.co.uk' in the URL bar, would it involve a homemade nav bar?
    Thanks in advance!

Connect to your server and remove the files and folders you do not want there.
In time Google will forget about them.
If that's too much, simply rename the folder of your old site and never mention it to anyone.

At the bottom of your screen is the Dock. Click on the blue left-most icon - that's the Finder. Then at the top your screen you'll see a Go menu item. Click on it and move your mouse down over iDisk... Then move the mouse over to the right and choose "Other User's iDisk..."

  • Delete old Iweb published site not saved

Hi Team, My compter crashed and I have a published website, but I dont have a backup of the files that created it. I have heard you cant download all of it and I have to start again. First, you could look at this page for help in retrieving stuff......
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebBackupretrieve.html
If you rebuild the site with the same name and publish it to MobileMe, you will overwrite the original or you can go to Finder/Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites and delete the website folder and the index.html file.

  • Getting back my old iweb page?

I had to reinstall my OS, and now, I have my iweb site up on the web, but when I go to update it, since I reinstalled, there is a "clean site" on iweb.
How do I get my site back?

If you don't have it on your hard drive and didn't make a backup you will have to rebuild your site.
You cannot get your website data back into iWeb from the published files.

  • Accessing an old iWeb page

I created a webpage with iWeb about 5 years ago.  This site is continuosly in use and I have edited it twice since then but now I cannot access it. The title does not appear in the left hand column and the "visit" button at the bottom is greyed out.  What am I not doing correctly ???

Don't quite what you mean by access your site via the 'visit' button to edit it?
You won't be able to do that anyway - after you publish your site to your server the visit button is available so that you can go and visit your published site on the server to view it without having to leave iWeb.  That is all.  Note the word 'PUBLISHED' here - you won't be able to edit anything because the site is published and iWeb can't do that as it has no import facility.
Do you understand that?  The only thing that you can do is see if you have backed up your domain file somewhere else and see if it has the website in it.
Bottom line - if your website is not visible in iWeb, then you CANNOT make alterations to it using iWeb and you will have to re-build from scratch in iWeb and then remember to backup!

  • IWEB does not delete old pages on  .mac account when changes are made.

I deleted one "movie" page and added a different one via IWEB. I changed the name of the site. I saved it to a folder on my drive and updated the .mac account.
When I checked my .mac folder, WEB>Sites>IWeb contains a folder with the new site name. That folder contains each of the pages and associated folders, html's.
However, using a previously saved .html, I can still access the old named web site which contains the un-desired deleted page. That deleted page and the entire site funtion as though it was never removed.
This "removed site" and all its pages does not appear any place in the .mac account's file listings.
What is happening that I can't remove a page using the procedure listed in the IWEB documentation?
    Anyone have any thoughts?

However, using a previously saved .html, I can still
access the old named web site which contains the
    un-desired deleted page.
Was the old site also produced by iWeb? Why are you "saving to a folder on your drive and updating the .mac account" instead of publishing directly into .Mac?
    That deleted page and the
entire site funtion as though it was never removed.
This "removed site" and all its pages does not appear
any place in the .mac account's file listings.
Are you sure they are not in the Sites folder used by Homepage? What is the url?
If they really are not anywhere on your iDisk, then perhaps they are being cached somewhere and will eventually disappear.

  • I use iBookAuthor to make a textbook for my students; I revised it, including title page, but when I export it and upload it to my iPad, the old title page appears, even though I've deleted the older version of the text before I upload the new one.

Last year I produced a textbook using iBookAuthor for my students. I exported it as an iBook and they uploaded it to their iPads. This year, I revised it, including revising the title page. However, when I upload the new version, the old title page is shown, not the new one. I deleted the older version of the textbook before I did this. I've been told that I can cut and paste each revised chapter into a new template and that will work; however, title page and glossary can't be cut and pasted. Any thoughts for getting the entire new version on the iPad? I'm also told that if it is uploaded to an iPad that never had a previous version of this textbook, it will upload correctly. But my iPad has had several older versions, now deleted.

I had a similar issue when trying to create an iBook file to submit for course credit for one of the Apple Learning Essentials classes I took. I had a book I'd started previously which I updated and submitted, and then had to make some edits to for the course evaluator. I made the edits, and when I previewed the book in iBooks Author, it looked correct, but whatever I sent to him only showed some of the edits - for example a new page I created was there, but some edits I made to image captions and the title page image were not.
What worked for me was to do a "Save as" of the actual Author file to a totally new location (I used the Desktop), and then submit that file - which seemed to work in terms of the changes sticking. I even used the same file name.
I'm not sure if some similar action might help you (maybe change the file name slightly?) or if you've already tried something like this.
Still doesn't change the fact that this is a pretty irritating bug.

  • How can I delete an old web page ??

How can I delete an old web page ?? I have created a web page some time ago and now I want to delete it but i do not know how to do it: can anyone help me ?

Delete the web page where it is published.
If it is published to MobileMe, then you need to log into MobileMe and go to your iDisk or mount it on your desktop and then delete it from your Web/sites folder.
If you have published to a server, then you'll need to download Cyberduck, Filezilla or Transmit - all dedicated ftp programmes to connect with your host/server and then delete your old files from the server.
    It really is not hard.

  • New computer, how can I sync my old published iWeb page with new compuer?

I had my old macbook stolen a year ago in Italy. I created and published an iWeb page to .mac on that computer. My problem is that I cannot figure out how I can sync my old page on .mac to my new computer so that I can continue to use it and upload pics. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    Hello,
and welcome the Apple iWeb Discussion Forum.
Basically you can't figure it out because there is no way to get published pages back into iWeb. iWeb lacks of any html import feature. The only thing you can do is rebuild it by copying and pasting content from the published one to the rebuilt in iWeb. However for photopages that isn't a good idea, it's better to rebuild them from scratch (iPhoto).
Be sure to make a backup of the domain.sites2 file (where iWeb stores) its files from time to time

  • I've managed to get back to Pages 4.3 and delete the downgrade Pages 5, which makes a total mess of any doc prepared with it,  but how to I get back to the old version of Pages on my iPad so that I can work while I am away from home.

I've managed to get back to Pages 4.3 on my iMac and delete the downgrade Pages 5, which makes a total mess of photo-rich documents prepared with Facing Pages (most of mine),  but how to I get back to the old version of Pages on my iPad so that I can work on sections away from home. At least on my old PC, Word maintained compatability with old versions. Beginning to regret having switched.

Thanks for your help. What is really irritating is that Apple give a big hurray about what they have added as "new"  in Pages 5 (most of it pretty useless) without telling you of the myriad things they have deleted.  If they had shown the list your gave the link to, I doubt may regular users would risked going to Mavericks with its auto upgrade. My partner got the message in time and is sticking with the earlier operating systems and Pages on Mac and iPad. Lucky girl.
I have found a way to use my iPad to add chapters written while on the move to reports on my iMac Pages 4.3. If I write it on the new Pages on the iMac (don't seem to be able to revert there), the send the report as an email in WORD format (not Pages) and download it in the Text Editor, then cut and paste into the story on the iMac. Hardly elegant but it works.

  • Old .mac photo pages and new iweb pages

I have photo albums and movies previously published on a .mac homepage. I also have new photo album pages published through iweb. Are the two connected or related in any way? Do I just have to republish the old pages through iweb, or should they be linked or transferred. Is there any published information about this stuff anywhere?

Sure you can. You can provide links and redirection html pages back and forth between .Mac Homepages and iWeb pages. WillG4PB has put together a nice tutorial that I will refer you to...

  • How to delete old photos from iWeb in MobileMe

As iWeb 1.1.2 no longer works I need to find another way of editing the old iWeb data I am still paying for on my iDisk.

Ewan ~ To view your iWeb site files on your iDisk go here:
    http://www.me.com/idisk
...Log in and click on the Web folder, then on the Sites folder within that.
If you simply want to delete your whole site, then delete the folder named as your site: Select it and click on the red "Delete" icon in the upper toolbar. (Don't delete the Sites folder itself.)
If you want to edit the HTML, the following is quoted from _this old thread_...
You can use the TextEdit which comes with Mac OS and just make sure in the preferences to make it "Ignore rich text commands in html files", you'll find it in the "Open and Save" tab.
Some on this forum recommend the free TextWrangler for easier editing of HTML files:
    http://www.barebones.com/products/textwrangler/
...Bear in mind that published HTML files are not intended to be edited. People do manage to do it, but it requires some knowledge of HTML and the structure of files/folders that iWeb has created on your iDisk.
