Deleting old Photoshop application versions

Hi There I am currently on CS6 Photoshop and Lightroom 5, however since I upgraded about 2 years ago, I left all the old CS4 & Lightroom 4 files, device central, extension manager, bridge etc on the computer. Question can I remove all these old programmes & files or do I need them to keep the new versions working.

Uninstalling older versions can quickly get you into trouble.
The uninstaller apparently has no concept of later versions still installed, so it basically says to the OS "Photoshop is no longer installed". You're left with many empty pointers to the removed version, rather than the newer one still installed. These pointers can be tricky to re-establish in some cases.
Uninstall in strict reverse version order, then reinstall what you want to keep.

HOw can I transfer my old photoshop cs version 8 onto my new computer?

I have an older mac computer (10.4.11) with Photoshops cs version 8. Id did not get transferred onto my new mac computer, so i had to buy Elements when I got the new one. I am very much missing the "pen" tool! Is there any way I can upgrade my photoshop cs Version 8 and put it on my Mac 10.7 5 so that I can go back to using the pen tool? Or is there anything that I can substitute for the pen?? The quick select is not discriminating enough, and I can't get it to select my image properly.HELP!!!!

Your in a bit of a dilemma, since photoshop cs (photoshop 8) won't run on mac os x 10.7.5 Lion and photoshop cs is long
out of the upgrade loop for photoshop.
Lion uses an intel processor and photoshop cs is an PowerPC application that needs an PowerPc processor
and lion can't us rosetta to run some older PowerPC applications.
Besides buying photoshop cs6 or subscribing to the creative cloud for photoshop cc

Alte/old PS Elements Version

Hallo/ Hi
Ich hab eine alte Photoshop Elements Version und jetzt einen neuen Rechner. Leider hab ich keine CD um das Programm erneut zu installieren. Gibt es eine Möglichkeit diese alte Version irgendwo kostenfrei (ich hab ja bereits einen Lizenzschlüssel) zu downloaden?

if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps. the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com). so, your browser must also accept cookies to enable these downloads.

Can't delete old version of Skype

I have 2 versions of skype on my iMac and can't delete the first. I had version Skype 2.8.0.722 then I subsequently upgraded to version 5.0.0.7994. However, the later version did not seem to overwrite the first and the old version always stills opens up when I turn on the computer. I then have to eject the old version and open the the later version. When i try to drag the old version to trash, a dialogue box opens saying "The item “Skype” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted."
Can anyone help?

You say you are trying to eject Skype which doesn't sound right and sounds like you may be running it from the desktop.
Did you definitely install correctly - downloaded the app, expanded the downloaded file and then dragged the app onto your Applications folder? If Skype 2.8 is located there it would definitely be overwritten by the new version, prompting you with a warning that you're about to overwrite an older version.
Have a look in your Application folder and check that Skype is there, highlight it and do Command+I and that will confirm which version number it is. If you also have the Skype app on your desktop do the same to confirm that is the later version and drag it on top of the Applications folder. If it's not on your desktop it must be lurking in another location on your computer so in Finder do Command+F and search Skype - it should show you where they're all hiding.
HOWEVER, before you commit to Skype 5 have you read the negative press and had a look at the Skype forums which are full of vitriol about this hideous new un-Maclike incarnation of what is a great app?
Edited to add: If you're still having trouble deleting one of the versions you could try an app like TrashMe ( http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/33863/trashme ) but it'll probably delete all your Skype files and you'll need to start again (that's what it did to me but once I re-logged into my Skype account all my contacts re-appeared).

If you need to free up the space you can uninstall Photoshop CC; it's not needed going forward if you can use Photoshop CC 2014 without problems and don't need the specific features that have been deprecated (e.g., Oil Paint, Flash Panel Support, etc.)....

There are advantages of using the direct download and installing over what is installed. It is the way I have been able to back out a buggy Adobe CC update. You do not need to backup yous system first and remove all of Adobe's software and clean your system of residual Adobe rat droppings. Downloading is not part of the installation for you have downloaded. You also now have your own copy of the install should you have problems in the future to re-install with. When you do install your activation is still intact and all that you have added to Photoshop is still there and functional and does not need to be re-installed. You do need to use menu Help>Updates to update CC for the install install CC version 14.0 The normal install will most likely do the same and need to be updated. Don't know for sure I only installed CC that way the first time I installed CC. The other two Installs I did were from the direct install. One was to back out Adobe bad CC update. You can also download all the CC updates and selectively install the ones you need. It took Adobe a month to fix their bad CC update. The other install I had to do was to recover some CC file that became corrupt which caused some other CC update to fail to install. After the re-install the update installed without a problem. Delete old APEX Versions

Iam wondering if there are any problems when deleting old APEX Versions?
I Have following Versions in my database (XE)
apex 2.1 -> FLOWS_020100
apex 3.0.x -> FLOWS_030000
apex 3.1.x -> FLOWS_030100
apex 3.2 -> APEX_030200
Now i would delete the oldest versions of apex because all applications are working in newest APEX Version.
Is it correct to delete them like this:
DROP user FLOWS_020100 CASCADE;
DROP user FLOWS_030000 CASCADE;
Or are there any restrictions or problems which could ocure?

Old Photoshop version download (Photoshop CS, Photoshop 8.0)

Hello to everyone,
i work for a small editorial company, i found out that we have some old Photoshop CS (Photoshop 8.0) licences and i want to use one of them, but the installation cds are missing.
Is there a place where i can download the installation file? I tried on the ftp server but i cant find my version, only more recent ones.

If I understand correctly, a license for Photoshop CS should entitle you to use CS2.

I have been able to fix the Acrobat issue, but not the PS issue. The final option listed is to reinstall the software. Since my optical drive not longer functions I suppose I will need to have that repaired first… unless you have another suggestion.
While I have your attention, can you please help me resolve a Creative Cloud issue I have been having.
I have been installing CC software successfully until I get to Acrobat XI Pro.
I receive the message, “Please close the following applications to continue: SafariNotificationAgent”
I have followed Adobe online instructions but cannot find where to close this function.
If you can help me with this I will be very grateful.

Hi,
I have Photoshop CS2 9.0 version installed on my PC with patch 9.02. I have a VB application which runs certain action files on EPS/TIF images using Photoshop typelibrary.tlb.The issue is that the VB application hangs when Photoshop crashes with the following error:
"Faulting application Photoshop.exe, version 9.0.2.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.4455, fault address 0x0001bd02"
I also get several other errors when i call Photoshop in my VB application. Those are as mentioned below:
1. The referenced memory could not be read.
2. The remote server machine does not exist or not available.
There is no particular pattern for above mentioned errors. I could not find any help in any of the forums.
I have attached the screenshot of these errors.

If you have itunes 7, you can delete/remove all of them. If you want to be on the safe side, remove all but the most current one (aka 2006-06-28)
