Deleting old server connection - sufficient privileges
I am attempting to delete an old server connection, but when I do I get a message saying I do not have sufficient privileges. I have tried to "get info" to change the privileges but I can't even get in to that. Command - I doesn't work either. Any other suggestions?
I think AJ would've cured it 'twere it a Cache problem.
I think the problem is that it's trying to connect before all the Networking stuff is up & running.
Some workarounds from the past are...
Disable Auto Login.
Mount that Share once, then once the Globe Icon shows up on the Desktop, drag that Globe Icon to the right side of the Dock between Applications & Trash. You now have a Dynamic Mount, a quick click on the Icon in the Dock will connect you.
On the multiple Shortcuts...
Mount them all, when show up on the Desktop, then create a new Folder maybe named Shares on/in the Desktop, drag all those Shares shown on the Desktop to that Folder, (you can even rename them once there, if you wish), drag that Folder to the right side of the Dock between Applications & Trash, this should give you a popup menu to select from.:-)

How do I delete old network connections?
I'm adding some new computers to my network and have discovered a mess of old connections in the network preferences. I'd like to delete the old ones in order to keep things a neat and tidy as I can.
However, I can't seem to find a way to delete them individually.
Is there some way to see all your network connections in a list or something and delete those outdated or no longer needed? I can find them individually using network preferences, but even then there does not seem to be a delete feature.

You can delete locations in the Network Preferences. From the "Location" menu, choose "Edit Locations..." and you'll get a little box with your locations. There's a "Delete" button there. If the "Edit Locations..." menu item is greyed out, just click the little lock in the lower left of the pane to open it, supply your password, and you should be in business.

MacBook Air keeps trying to connect to old server
My new MacBook Air, just like its predecessor iBook, keeps trying to connect to an old server which I am not using (having moved to a different continent!). I have tried deleting it using Finder - Go - Conneact to Server, but it persists. It flashes up the error messaage: "There was a problem connecting to the server XXX. The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again." I have done all this, but it makes no difference. Can you help please? I use a Time Capsule as my router, with an AirPort Express booster in another room, and my main iMac desktop does not have this problem. The old network was in use in the UK, and I will want to connect to it there when I visit from time to time.

JohnCheck the Login Items in the Users & Groups section of system Preferences for a reference to this old server. If it is there highlight it and click the Minus ( - ) button.

Macbook pro keeps trying to connect to an old server
I have a macbook pro, just updated to OSX mavericks, when I turn the machine on, it will keep trying to connect to an old server that no longer exists (a windows pc I had at home I called "estudio"); how can I fix this? where is that the OS keeps the list of servers that the machine has been connected to? I already went through the option of "deleting all the list of recent servers" on the Connecting to a Server window.

Ios7 does not delete old pop server
My company has recently changed servers for our email accounts. I have deleted the old account and SMTP server from my iphone. I added the new pop account with the new server and have SSL activated. I can receive email just fine. However, when I try to send or reply to an email a message comes up that says "Cannot Send Mail, The user name or password for "old server" is incorrect". This "old server" was deleted, so when trying to access the settings option on this message, it takes me to the new account. Checking the SMTP server the name is correct, as this SMTP account is on as the primary server. Why will ios7 not accept the new server name, and why is it trying to use the "old server" name as the SMTP outging server?
Apparently, Mail sometimes fails to remove messages from the server when Remove copy from server is set to Right away -- don’t know why.
I can only guess Mail sometimes has problems communicating with the server, and precisely because the setting is Right away, never tries again. I’d try changing the setting to After one day or When moved from Inbox, and see whether that makes a difference.
Also, go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Have you checked whether Thunderbird does remove the messages from that server?
BTW, woodie is wrong. It’s true that Gmail ignores any requests to delete messages from the server made by a POP client, but it doesn’t let the same messages to be downloaded more than once via POP either. Gmail just doesn’t work like a normal POP server would. -
Software Update Server - Deleting old updates to make space for new ones
On Page 77 of the SystemImage_and_SW_Updatev10.4.pdf Apple recommends "deleting old updates to make space for new ones". I've looked and searched and yet to find a way to do this. The Server Admin interface and the command line options I've looked into don't appear to provide this option.
So I actually tried stopping the server, moving the updates from /usr/share/swupd/html to another location, starting the server, the server wouldn't start, moving the files back again, the server still won't start.
1. Does anyone know how you're supposed to "Delete old updates to make space for new ones"
2. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get Software Update service running again?

I ran iTunes update 11.1.4.62x64 on a PC Win 7 and got "apple mobile device failed to start verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services" and got kicked out of the install process? I deleted iTunes, ran download to reinstall, and now I can't reinstall - same error message. I am logged onto the PC as Administrator. How do I downlaod and install iTunes.

You say you have the pse 5 disk?
I guess you do't have a dvd drive on your new windows 8 computer?
Do you have access to another computer with a dvd drive?
Anyway if you can find another computer with a dvd drive you could copy the pse 5 install disc to removable device like a camera card or flash drive.
You can also buy cheap usb dvd drives. -

I was using iPod touch before and I bougth new iPhone 5S.I change my apple id.Now I can't syncronize my library and my new device. You reinstalled an old version of iPhoto after you updated your library to the newer version.
Update ALL your software and try again.
Click the Apple Menu at the upper left-hand corner of your screen and select "Software Update..."
Repeat until it tells you there are no more updates.
AND, launch the App Store application located in your Applications folder to see if there are any updates there as well. -
I downloaded IOS 6 a week ago and just last night the server connection fails when I try to send an email. I tried deleting and recreating the email account several times, but it still doen't work. Any ideas?
Are you using yahoo? If so, wait it out. Yahoo has had a lot of issues lately and you just have to wait for them to fix it.

I have looked on Ola's site (https://ola.hallengren.com/frequently-asked-questions.html) and I did see this:
DatabaseBackup is not deleting old backup files. What could the problem be?
Verify that the SQL Server and SQL Server Agent service accounts have full control of the backup directory.
If that directory is a network share, verify that the SQL Server and SQL Server Agent service accounts have full control of the network share.
If you are using a proxy account, verify that the account is a member of the sysadmin server role and that it has full control of the backup directory and network share.
Verify that the file is not locked in the file system; for example, a backup or antivirus software could be locking the file.
DatabaseBackup has been designed not to delete transaction log backups that are newer than the most recent full or differential backup. This could explain why transaction log backups are not being deleted.
I followed these instructions and then I right clicked the "sp_delete_backuphistory" job under "SQL Server Agent > Jobs" folder and clicked the "Start job at step ..." option. The job successfully ran, but my .bak backup
files were still on located on my separate drive partition I use specifically for these backups.
The SQL Server and the SQL Server Agent are both using the same AD account.
Would any of you SQL gurus out there know how to resolve this?
Thank youThe sp_delete_backuphistory job only deletes the historical info from the backup & restore tables in the msdb database. It does not do anything to the files on disk.

The code to actually purge the backup files from disk is inside the DatabaseBackup stored procedure. It is controlled by using the @CleanupTime parameter for that stored proc. Verify the value for that parameter is low enough to delete your files on disk. The
value is in hours, and I believe the default is 48 hours. The SQL agent job name usually starts with "DatabaseBackup...". -

NPratikTake a look at Metalogix ControlPoint, which will compare user accounts on SharePoint to Active Directory and remove accounts that no longer exist in AD (or are disabled).

Trash won't delete--Dialog box says: "...not have sufficient privileges"
Help!!
The dialog box, which is labled "Trash" at the top, says in full: "The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items."
I did the following, which had no effect on this problem.
1. I ran Repair Permissions on the Disk Utility.
2. I looked at the permissions in the "more info" pane and I do have "Read & Write" capabilities. Also, I checked this for the Trash file as well.
What suggestions can you make so that I can empty the trash folder?
