Deleting old spreadsheets in numbers on ipad

I'm trying to clear out some of the old spreadsheets I no longer need on my iPad. I'm using Numbers and I have all the spreadsheets in front of me.
I tap Edit
All the sheets do their jiggle dance
I select one and try to drag it to the trash thats in faded grey.
Nothing happens.
What am I doing wrong?

Once they jiggle there should be a trash can on top. Click on the file and then the trash can. It will ask you to confirm the delete.

Hi bazza,
We won't be able to put the address from a formula into the same cell that you enter the customer's name. We can put the address in the cell under the customers name.
First let's take James advice and concatenate the address in the address table.
Here is the formula in G2
=CONCATENATE(B2&"
",C2&"
",D2&"
",E2)
It shows this way because after I clicked on B2 and typed [&"] (no brackets) I typed option-return
This gives you your new line. Then I typed the closing ". I repeated this for the rest of the address.
Next we want to bring this to your order sheet. I prefer using the two formulas OFFSET and MATCH instead of VLOOKUP.
base tells OFFSETwhere to start counting from. Click A1.
row-offset is for the row. we will use MATCH() -1 to give us the row.
What MATCH does is give you the row number where something is found and you can specify an exact match. I usually construct the MATCH formula first and then cut and paste it into OFFSET. MATCH looks like this: MATCH(A2,Table 1::A,0). A2 is what we are looking for, Table 1A::A is where we are looking (the entire column A), and 0 means we want an exact match. Can you see it inside the OFFSET formula? Notice that we had to subtract 1 from its result.
column-offset tells OFFSET which column A=0 so we want 6.
we ignore "rows", "colomns" we don't need them.
If this seems like too much, just break it down into small pieces.

Lost Spreadsheet in Numbers 4 iPad

Hi,
using Numbers on ipad3 ios8.1
Have suddenly lost a spreadsheet I have used everyday for the last 2 years, (contains daily sales figures)
Was in a folder with other spreadsheets - has disappeared from folder - other spreadsheets still in folder.
Have tried "Searching ipad" for document to no avail.
Don't think I deleted it at all.
Is this a Numbers / iCloud Problem?
How can I see a list of either deleted sheets or previous version on ipad?
More to the point how do I retrieve lost or previous version of sheet?
Any suggestions?

I'm getting the same message. I created the spreadsheet on my iMac, saved to iCloud, but can't open it on my iPad. iPad 2, Numbers is updated and running iOS 7.0.2.

Ipads and Iphones remember every email I have ever used. Even if I make a typo or if I have deleted an old email. There seems to be no way of deleting them. Now I find that when I was in a hurry and sent an email to "Teresa" the choices that come up are the new AND the old one. Also, my husband thought his gmail was [email protected] but it REALLY was [email protected] The devices remember both so when I copy him on an event i am offered both choices and have to debate with myself which is correct. Any know a way to fix this???

Hi Ritahyde - There is a way to remove recent email addresses that you have used on your iPad and iPhone as long as they are not in your contacts. To do this, create a new email and start typing the email address that he would like to delete. As soon as it pops up, there will be on the right-hand side a circle with the letter "I". Tap on that circle and you will be taken to your recent email address and at the bottom you can click on "remove from recents".
Now, if you do not see that circle icon to the right of that email address, that means that you have saved this email address in your contacts and you need to delete it from there first.

I needed to change my Apple ID because my ID was linked to an email address that did not work any more. So I changed my old ID on my Mac, deleted the old, registered the new one, and it worked fine on my Mac as well as on my IPhone, but not on my Ipad. That is; I am all the time asked to Log on to Icloud, but only to my old account. I cannot use my Ipad at all. I do not have a password, and my old email address does not work. All media and apps downloaded from the app store are tied to the Apple ID used to download them.
You can not transfer them to another ID.
Your options are delete and re download the app, losing all data, or reset the password for the old ID. If you forgot your Apple ID password

HT204022 how to delete old photos from photostream on ipad

I have tried to delete my old phots from my photostream but cannot, I went to icloud.com but cannot get to the advanced settings option to turn it off, also when I go to photostream album and tap edit I do not get the delte option - I have the latest version of software - anyone know how to do this.

I have kinda same problem, can't delete some pictures from photo stream directly from my iPad.
tap edit and can select photo but "Delete" button seems not acceptable.
i can see the delete icon but it's not working....
If i connect to my PC, it preview only 2 photos but iTune shows me number of picture is 48 photos,.
So these 2 photos are able to delete, but other 46 photos are not able to delete.
When open Photo stream, there are three icons on the top middle     Photos - Photo stream - Albums
when i tap "photo", there are only 2 photos (which is deletable)
when i tap "Photo stream", there are no photo display. (display; New photo will be automatically uploarded and sent to all of your iClioud devices when connected to Wi-fi)
when i tap Albums, there are 2 files "Camera roll" (2 photos) and "photo stream" (46 photos).
In Camera roll photo can delete.
But ... Photo stream in Album, ... tap edit then can select pictures but there is no icon for delete.
And same as Lafayete, I went to icloud.com but cannot get to the advanced settings option to turn it off, also when I go to photostream album and tap edit I do not get the delte option

Deleting old credit card numbers

For obvious security reasons, we would like to simply erased credit cards Number in the SAP and CRM databases after one year, even if the documents that reference them were not archived (Sales Orders for example).
Does SAP have a "standard" solution for that? Wil using brute force and simply erasing the contents of the CCNUM fields in various tables work? Anybody did something like that in their system?

I am not sure if you have found any standard solution for this problem. We have faced a similar issue in a recent internal audit. What we came up was a simple solution that may not be the most elegant but works just fine without compromising the integrity of the SAP system. You can replace all the real credit cards with dummy credit card numbers. Depending on the middleware product you are using, a small routine in ABAP needs to be written, which will decrypt the original cards, replace them with dummy cards that pass the Luhn check and re-encrypt them back. This retains the integrity of the SAP system and if you were to display the Sales order, it does not cause dumps. When using spreadsheets in numbers for iPad,can I change the background color of the screen while leaving the table white.I want to have a few tables on one spreadsheet and leave the the tables white.Can I do this and change the screen color surrounding the table?

In Numbers '09 the Sheet is white (period), You can, however, place a coloured shape on the Sheet, and apply your desired fill colou to that shap, then ruse the Arrange menu to Move it to the Back, then resize it and position it as needed to fill the background.

Is there anyway to lock a spreadsheet in numbers on iPad, simple to do in excel but when I transfer it to numbers the pass code requirement is lost?

Hello and thanks, but what I actually wonder is, not how you password protect a file, but how you lock it for input (until you unlock it). I can do that on my MacBook and when I open the file on my iPad it is indeed locked for input: tapping on it provoces an 'Unlock?' bubble tapping which unlocks the the file. But then: how do I relock it after some input into the file? I should have posed my question in a clearer manner, sorry. But thanks anyway!

Numbers in ipad crashes after deleting a file

when i try to delete a file from my numbers on ipad it crashes and i am forced to reset the engine. the app is updated. i reinstalled it. no result.

Apple’s iWork Team investigated the problem and subsequently asked me to check Accessibility settings and turn “Bold Text” OFF if it was set to ON. It was set to ON in my case. Turning “Bold Text” OFF fixed the problem. My iPad3 no longer freezes when deleting or renaming documents and spreadsheets.
Here’s how to do this if you want to give it a try: Open the “Settings” app. Select “General” tab if it isn’t already selected. Open “Accessibility” page. The “Bold Text” option is ON if its switch is green. Turning it OFF will reset the iPad. Let us know if this works for you.

If you touch in the spreadsheet, you should see two bars show up on the left & top of the table, along with three buttons (in the top left, top right & bottom left of the table). If you touch the button in the upper left, you get some options. One of those is 'Delete'

What type of account did you set-up on the iPad, POP, IMAP, the items on your iPad could have downloaded off the server or you will need wait awhile for the message to update to the iPad.

To remove the apple id from the device, go to Settings>icloud>delete account. NOTE: this will only remove the account from the iPad. It will not delete the account.

If you are trying to activate an iPad or iPhone and it is asking for a previous owners Apple ID and password, you have encountered the Activation Lock. You must use the previous owner's password to get permission to use the device.
