Deleting old versions of Logic or Mainstage

I have 3 Logic icons in Applications as I have upgraded a few times. I also have 3 versions of Mainstage.  Several Logic Nodes.  Can I delete the old versions safely?  How best to determine what to delete and how do I test that I have not damaged anything before I empty trash.

I'm sorry, I'm a complete tool and forgot my password and all that stuff and didn't get around to making a new account until tonight.
But anyway, I guess what I mean is under my program files it has iTunes version 1.1, iTunes 1.2, iTunes 1.3, etc. (not the actual versions but hopefully you get the point) as well as iPod for Windows 2005-05-05, iPod for Windows 2005-10-10, iPod for Windows 2006-02-02, etc... I'm just wondering if I can delete the older versions without deleting all the files I actually have in iTunes/on my iPod.
Once again, sorry for being so dumb and not responding to my own question, but if anybody could help out that would be fantastic.

I also agree that the paid update is a sham to those who bought the full boxed set of Logic.  The ONLY reason I bought the boxed version of Logic was to get MainStage....I don't use anything else in that package.  So ultimately, I've paid hundreds of dollars for a product that's now selling for $30 and I don't even get a free update.....sheesh!
As far as this logic goes: " MS 2.2 is a feature release" and that I "never bought that version of MainStage with the Logic Studio box": bollocks!  Many consider a feature release to be more than a .1 incremental update...OSX versions excluded.  With the exception of major OSX updates, I've never experienced being charged money for a .1 incremental update, and the vast majority of software developers have a policy that incremental updates are free until a new version is released i.e. v.2.5.6 to v3.0.  I'm sure that's not always the case, but it's definitely the case in an overwhelming majority of cases.
Shame on Apple for this price gouge.

  • I lost my XS key on an old version of Logic Gold. What can I do?

    Hello,
I have been using an old version of Logic Gold 5 on a G4 tower since 2003. I recently moved and as it goes with any move, things got lost, including my old blue eMagic XS key! I'm wondering what I can do to get my program to open now.
I am not interested in updating or upgrading to any new version of Logic since I am using other programs for my music nowadays. I just want to be able to open my old mixes and use the old program for mastering some new tracks (it is STILL great for that!).
Is this version of the software still supported by Apple now that eMagic is gone? What can I do to retrieve my old files/mixes? Is it possible to open the program without the key? If not, should I purchase cheap new Logic program like Express to get everything to work or is my program too old?
Thank you for your help. Take care.

As I mentioned before, your serial number is very important.
It's not just the hardware device but the serial number too.
Are you saying that you can store the number in a text file or a piece of paper other than your place for safe keeping.
This really isn't meant at you but to all the illegal software people.
And just to add to this, if your the legal owner of the software with proof of purchase you'll have no problem.
It's the cracked software people that want something for nothing.

  • Deleting old versions of Ipod

Can deleting old versions of Ipod for Windows in Add/Remove programs safely free up disk space without harming the library? I need to make space on my hard drive! Any info would help. Thanks!

If you have itunes 7, you can delete/remove all of them. If you want to be on the safe side, remove all but the most current one (aka 2006-06-28)

  • Installing an old version of Logic on a new Macbook Pro

I just purchased a Macbook Pro 13" non-retina and would like to know if (and how) I can install an old version of Logic Pro, such as Logic Pro 9 rather than the latest version, which is Logic Pro X.

It depends on which version of LP9 you own.....
If you don't already own an earlier version you cannot buy Logic Pro 9 any longer from Apple.. It is discontinued....
If you do own an earlier version then...
App Store version? Just sign into the Mac App Store... using the same Apple ID you used to purchase Logic in the first place...and Logic Pro 9 will be found under the Purchase Tab for you to click on and download..
DVD Version? Install via DVDs .... If you don't have a DVD player in your Mac you will need to purchase an external one.... or use another Mac which has a DVD drive using Remote Disk
DVD or CD sharing: Using Remote Disc
    Install....
Do not run Logic but instead....
Update to 9.1.8 via this link....
    Logic Pro 9.1.8
    Now launch Logic....

I have been using Elements11 for almost a year. I am suddenly getting the message:Some of the application components are missing from the application directory. Please reinstall. I deleted old version, reinstalled on my Mac and now get this message:A required application library failed to load and the product cannot continue. I also get the first message again. Organizer works but not editor. Frustrated!

What a waste of space to paste the code.
Why not ask in the iLife > iPhoto forum where your question belongs.

  • Delete old version?

New iWork is now on my computer. Should I delete old version? If so hwo? I have A

    NO!
Look at these forums- literally thousands of posts complaining about the new version.
Use the new one to open only documents you know you have backed up becuase it can destroy formatting.  Play around with it and see if it suits your needs before ditching the old, working versions.

  • How do i delete old versions of itunes from my mac

    Welcome to Apple Communities
When you update iTunes, older versions are replaced. If you didn't update, go to Software Update

  • Delete old versions of PS?

I had a lot of trouble getting PS 5.1 working on my computer because of license issues and have been afraid to delete older versions of PS thinking it might hose things again.
I have CS 3, Bridge 3, CS5, and Bridge 5 installed.  Can I delete them?

If you really are not desperate for HD space the best advice is to leave them as is.  They should not affect one another as they are.
Deleting old versions can cause file associaton and other file access problems.

  • Can anyone tell me why I can't update my itunes on my p.c?  I get a message saying: the feature you are trying to use is on a net work resource that is unavailable.   Tried uploading from websit, get msg can't delete old version.

    I need some serious help!
I have been trying to update my itunes to version 10.7 and my Quicktime to version 7.7.3!
    Having no luck!
So I tried selecting repair software on all of the Apple applications and they seem to have worked.
Then I selected look for upgrades on my itunes (Help) main screen
It said their were two updates -   Itunes  10.7   and  Quicktime 7.7.3
I selected the option to update and the .exe files were loaded to my  Windows 7 p.c.
However after part of the Itune update completed a message came up on the screen
saying   "The feature you are trying to use is on a net work resource that is unavailable.
    O.k.
I then went to the itunes website and tried again.  This time it checked my system the process seemed to be working and all of a sudden I got a message saying my old itunes programs could not be removed and or deleted.  So I tried to delete my old version myself without success it won't let me.
I've run out of options and am not completely fustrated.
I have itunes on my desktop, my iphone4, my ipod and in my car.
Anyone have any clue how I can resolve this problem?

Which particular .msi file does the message go on to say cannot be found? (Several different .msi files might be mentioned in this context: itunes.msi, bonjour.msi, AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi, etc.)

  • Deleting old version of Java disabled ability to open AP and PO Accrual Rpt

Hi I am an end-user and we are in the process of testing Oracle Financials, Purchasing, etc in order to upgrade to the latest version of Oracle. My IT group fiddled with my laptop and said I had 2 versions of Java and apparently deleted the old version on my laptop. Ever since then, I have been unable to open/view the 1) AP and PO Accrual Reconciliation Report and 2) Summary Accrual Reconciliation Report from the Purchasing module of Oracle. I can still view other financial reports that I run ( i.e. Inventory Value Report from Inventory module, Journal Entries Report from GL, Receiving Transactions Register from A/R). I currently have Java 6 update 29 installed but I am still unable to open reports from the Purchasing module.
Can anyone figure out what happened and how do I re-enable the ability to view those Purchasing reports again?

Did you substitute the VO or replaced the original VO itself? Check About this Page/Personalize Page to see the VO has modified query or not. If yes, try restarting the server (Apache bounce doesn't work sometimes, complete bounce/restart fixes the issue. I don't know why :-) ).
    Thanks

  • Deleting old versions of PhotoShop Elements

Jeez, all kinds of hoops to jump through just to get one stupid question answered.
I just installed PhotoShop Elements 12. Is it safe to delete my old version, PhotoShop Elements 8, from my hard drive?
P.S. Does anyone know why I had to submit my birthday to join the forum? With the latest security breaches on the Adobe site, giving out such personal information is dangerous. I guess Adobe doesn't really care about our security.

No, that's not true, although you might get asked for a serial number from the old version on reinstall. However, if you're using windows, you might want to read through this, about the features missing from PSE 12:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1302663?tstart=0
Many of them can be reinstalled from your older version. (Macs are missing the same features, but since the mac version is now 64 bits, reinstalling old bits doesn't work.)

  • Can I safely delete old versions???

In add/remove programs I have 3 versions of Java:
    J2SeRuntime Environment 5.0 update 4 144.00MB
    Java2Runtime Environment Std Edition v1.3.1 22.15MB
    Java2Runtime Environment SE v1.4.2_07 130.00MB
I sure would like to get rid of some of these huge files if they're not needed, but no where does it say that we can delete previous versions when we upgrade to a new one.
Can someone please help? I don't want to delete something that contains files that are needed to run the current version, etc.
Thanks in advance for your help! sstephy

  • ITunes 10.2 not deleting old versions of updated apps

My setup has my iTunes library in the default location on my C: drive.
Most of my apps though are located on my E: drive (for space reasons).
With iTunes 10.1, when an app was updated by iTunes, iTunes would delete the old version from the E: drive and place the update on the C: drive -- this was fine. I had no problems with this (ocassionaly moving the apps manually to the E: drive).
With iTunes 10.2, it places the new app on the C: drive and leaves the old version on the E: drive. This is not a good situation as iTunes allows for different apps that have nothing to do with each other to have the same file name.
If I was to manually move apps now, I will have to deal with a lot of headaches of figuring out whether to allow / not allow files to be overwritten.
Please go back to the iTunes 10.1 method of deleting an old version of an app whereever it is located when storing the newer version of the app in the default library.
    Thank you.

Thanks so much for all your help.

  • How to delete old version of bonjour

how do you delete an old version of bonjour. I cant install new version of itunes until I delete it

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?
