Deleting older versions of Adobe Reader

I have several versions of Adobe Reader (7.0, 7.0.8, 7.0.9, 8.1.1, 8.1.1, 9.0).
Can the older versions be safely removed from my computer? Without affecting the newest update version 9.0?

On Windows removing one version will break the others. Remove all,
re-install the latest. On Mac, no known issues.

  • Where can i download a older version of adobe reader

where can i download a older version of adobe reader (version 9)

9.0 is Reader 9.0. When you open this folder, it has different folders with the respective languages.
For US English go to the folder 'enu'
9.5.5 is the latest patch for Reader 9.0
You need to install the patches in a sequence as specified in the KB: Update, patch | Acrobat, Reader 7.x - 9.x | Windows

  • What is the correct way to call older version of Adober Reader?

What is the correct way to call older version of Adober Reader? Specifically version 8? Acrobar Reader 8 or Adober Reader 8? Is is necessary to include "Reader"? We are creating a form and are adding instructions that it works with version 8 and newer. We want to make sure it is worded correctly!
    Thanks!

When you "Save as" and you select the "compatibility with" for older versions, the document will be compatible with whatever version you choose, be it 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or higher. If you want to "test it", you'll need a computer with Reader 8 installed, but I've never seen the "Save as" make something that was incompatible with the version it was saving for.

  • How do I uninstall older versions of Adobe Reader, when they cannot be removed from the Control Panel?

How do I uninstall older versions of Adobe Reader 9.4.4 from the Remove
    Programs in the Control Panel?

You can use the Acrobat Cleaner Tool from http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
This will remove all versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat.

  • How can I have an older version of Adobe Reader installed as well as version 10

I want to install version 8 and/or 9 of Adobe Reader.  When I downloaded it, the installer ran and then complained that I had a "more functional version" installed and then terminated.
I need to test the behaviour of a PDF with older versions of Reader.  How can I do that, other than by installing it on a virtual machine with nothing installed to start with?
    TIA

Normally people got the opposite (see ref's here).  To me personally an AR(10) update arrived uninvited;  having installed it I found  both (9&10)  on my PC  (Progr'files-Adobe-R9/R10).   And wondered what was the idea of that;  and if I should throw the previous one out myself.  Local Adobe authority Mr Kozlov says both should stay which I don't grasp.  And would appreciate a detailed advice, too.
As to yours - see the solution following?

  • Download problem/loss of older version of Adobe Reader

I have been trying all day to upgrade my Adobe program on my laptop but have not only failed to install the latest version (10X) with various error messages but also have lost my original one (version 9?) that I have been upgrading every time a new one comes out.  I have also been unable to download any Adobe Reader so now I cannot access any of my pdf files!  Help!

Error 1310, usually notifies that there is something that is causing the installation to fail, most of the time its the anti-virus software installed on the machine. You may wanna try the below article in case of error 1310.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-1310-error-writing-file.html
Try updating your adobe reader now and check.
You may also uninstall reader 9 from add/remove programs and then goto adobe.com and download and install the latest adobe reader X.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader DC has premium features that were not premium on my other version of Adobe Reader??

I am so angry right now because last night I had an older version of Adobe Reader that I was able to fully edit PDF's and use features such as adding a signature to my PDF. Now I've updated it when it prompted me to and now I can't add a signature unless I "upgrade". When last night I was fully able to do this on my old Adobe Reader. Can anyone help me figure out why this is? Or how I can revert back to my old version so I don't have to mess with this crappy new update. Thanks.

If indeed you have Acrobat installed ("fully edit"), then the upgrade of Reader may have changed your default file association for .pdf files from Acrobat to Reader.  Change it back and you should be fine.
If you want to revert to an earlier Reader version, uninstall DC, then download and install whatever you had before: https://get.adobe.com/reader/otherversions/

  • Problems with all versions of Adobe Reader Changing shortcuts upon install.

I am using windows 7 and attempting to install Adobe Reader 9.3.4.  When I do this all of my shortcut icons change to Adobe Reader icons.  Also, the destination links in the shortcuts have NOT changed but when I click on something such as the calculator it will try to open Adobe Reader.  The shortcuts return to normal when Adobe Reader is uninstalled.  I have installed several older versions of Adobe Reader and the same thing happens.  has anyone heard of this happening and if so do you happen to know of a solution?

There was some discussion here around this issue. Please refer to the following post:

Can you uninstall the existing version of Adobe Reader from Add/Remove Programs?
If not, try to remove all remains of the previous installation with the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 ), then try to install the newest version again.

I have an older version of Adobe Digital Editions (around 3 years old) and was very happy with it.
Then I had problems with my Kobo Reader and asked a friend who works in IT to assist. She could not fix the Kobo but she messed up my Addobe. She downloaded version three and I have an account and a password - was not able to transfer my books from my reader to version three (and I don't like the lay-out - I would prefer to stay with the old version as I also loose all my download date info..)
But all the books I have bought over the last three years are in the old Adobe Digital and I cannot access them any more. When I use it I get the message "that the document is licensed to a different account. I can't even open the books on my computer.
When I go to my Kobo library, I cannot also not open my books and get the message "this doc is protected by adobe digital rights management and is not currently authorized for use with your adobe. please sign in with your authorized adobe id and try again"
I believe the problem is that I do not seem to have a digital id for my old adobe or that the Kobo is not in sync with it anymore.
can you please help me - going on vacation in three days and cannot go without books.

Please authorize ADE 3 with same credentials that you used with older version of ADE

  • I have a new version of adobe reader for android on my tablet now i cannot delete files

I have a new version of adobe reader for android on my tablet. Now there is no delete tab to get rid of old files

Sorry, I was asking about the version of your Android operating system.  But if your PDF documents are not stored on an SD card, it does not matter which Android version you have.
To permanently delete a PDF document from your Android device using Adobe Reader,
In the Reader home screen, tap Documents in the left pane.
Long press (press & hold) the PDF document that you want to delete.
Tap the trash can icon in the top toolbar.
Please note that there is no Undo for the Delete operation.
If you have many files that you want to delete, it would be easier to download and install a File Manager app and delete files at once.

  • How can I access and download earlier versions of Adobe Reader to put on my older model iPod Touch?

We have model PC086LL iPod Touched from roughly 2008 for our school that are rarely used anymore because we've updated to iPads.  But, I want to be able to use some of the iPod Touches to store files to access remotely in emergencies.  Unfortunately I cannot access earlier versions of the Adobe Reader app that are compatible with this version iPod.  How do I get access to those earlier versions?

    SGMS Knight,
Based on the model number that you provided, your device is an iPod Touch 2nd generation.
According to the following Wikipedia page, the highest supported operating system for the iPod Touch 2nd generation is iOS 4.2.1.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_iOS_devices#iPod_Touch
Adobe Reader for iOS version 11.0.1 is compatible with iOS 5.  However, the App Store does not have the earlier version of Adobe Reader that is compatible with iOS 4.
As a user, you can download and install Adobe Reader for iOS only from the App Store.
You may be able to find other free PDF viewers that are compatible with iOS 4 in the App Store.
    Good luck.

  • What to do with older versions of Adobe

I recently updated Adobe and wonder if I should delete previous versions of adobe?
When you update Java, they also provide you with instruction to remove all older versions, so I wondered if the same goes with Adobe?
    Thanks!
    Manuel

    Hi 38manny,
Adding to what sukritd15 said, please note that installation of the updated version of Adobe Acrobat/Reader will automatically remove the previous versions of the software installed on your machine.
To know more, you might refer the KB doc link mentioned below:
    Acrobat trial removed previous version
Note: Two different versions of Acrobat cannot run simultaneously on the same machine as both will clash over the shared resources and system services.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi.  I have a Dell PC running Windows 7 64 bit.  I have the latest version of Adobe Reader,  It worked yesterday.  Today I have job training to do that is due tomorrow morning and I can't open PDF files.  I have to open a guide and read it and take a test tomorrow.  I have deleted and reinstalled the application.  I have rebooted.  I have made sure my PDF's are associated with the program.  Every PDF on my computer won't open and I get the same error message.  It simply says Attempt to access invalid address.  How can I fix this?  Thanks.

    Hi Don,
I have seen this issue fixed for some users by modifying the following registry key:
The key is "HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" MoveImages
Set the key to 1 instead of 0 then reboot the machine.
In case you still face the issue try the following registry key change:
The only thing you have to do is rename the following key at the REGEDIT, and everything will be fine !!
    BEFORE:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.exe
    AFTER:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\iexplore.old
Note: Please take a backup of the registry before attempting this change.
