Deleting original apps

I just received a new iPod Touch. It came with the Stocks app and a few others I'm not really into. How do I delete an app that is already on my iPod? There is no delete circle like there is on apps I have added myself.
Thanks!!

I have an iPod touch, and unfortunately, there is no way to delete the apps that come with the iPod. They don't take up much space capacity wise, but the iPod won't let you delete them because, if I am correct, they are part of the firmware that comes with every iPod Touch and can be downloaded. Sorry!

    Hi tunein4now,
If you would like to delete songs locally from your iPhone while leaving them available in iCloud, you may find the Deleting songs downloaded to your device section of the following article helpful:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.

If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller  said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

  • Deleted some original apps on phone

I had an iPhone previous to this new iPhone4 that acted up and deleted some original apps such as youtube and safari etc. I can't get either of them in itunes it seems. When I connected my new iPhone4 it then deleted the same apps and I don't know how to get them back on my phone now. I also have issues getting ANY apps on my phone now including games and such. Please help.

You cannot delete apps that are standard on iphone.
They are likely on another page or you have restrictions set.

  • When I try to sync photos, I followed all the steps, picked one folder.  When I hit "apply" I get this error message: Are you sure you want to remove 30 apps from iPad.  This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad. What have I done wrong

When I try to sync photos or music, I followed all the steps, picked onle folder, not the whole library.  When I hit "apply" I got this message:
Are you sure you want to remove 30 apps from iPad.  This will delete these apps and their data from the iPad" What can I change to just download the photos and not interfere with the apps?
(By the way, the memory is not even one quarter full)
Thanks for your help - Pat

I have the same problem.  I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad -  clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad.  WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks

However, I originally had the kindle app on there and when he is reinstalling it comes up with my kindle account. How do we change this?
    OPen teh Kindle app.
Tap the i at bottom right then Settings > Deregister this device.
    -> http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=200375710&#managedevi ces
He does not have an actual kindle so I am not sure if he would be able to create one anyways.
The Kindle app is so you do not have to use a Kindle. Yes, he can have a Kindle account and not own an actual Kindle hardware device.

  • HT4673 Accidentially deleted an app and can't reinstall

    MacBook Pro late 2011.
Accidentally DELETED the app TEMPERATURE GAUGE. Logged in to the App Store and tried following these directions:  If you want to reinstall a deleted app, open Mac App Store, click the  Purchases icon, then click on the "Install" button for the app.
INSTALLED is grayed out in my PURCHASES section. Will not allow any action. Went to the publishers website and the also recommend the above action. Nothing.  Open for suggestions?

Has nothing to do with the upgrade. Some how I deleted the App Store download.
There IS NO CHARGE for the upgrade from the publisher. BUT, the original app, 4.1 is required for proof of purchase / upgrade in App Store purchases.
So in one way it does have something to do with the Upgrade process..
If you have a Time Machine back up... you could try to recover your accidental deletiion of the App.

  • Deleting original applications?!

I would like to know if it is possible to delete original iphone applications e.g. notes weather stocks etc and if it is how to go about doing it...
    Any and all help welcome.

There is no way to do that, Apple thinks that you absolutely need these apps and therefore there is no way to get rid of them. I would just put them on the last page of the iPhone if you never use them so they are out of your way.

  • Why app store keep asking me to update when i deleted the app

but app store still has the alert red sign on the app store ... why this is still on since i deleted the app?...
i used cleanapp to remove the app ... is it the removal is not 100% or else?...
    please advise for a solution...
    thanks...

You may have installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Twitter," the hacked app may be "Angry Birds" or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
    File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
    Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu initially showing Kind. From that menu, select  Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select Raw Query and click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of popup menu. Click in that box and paste (command-V).
The search window will show all the App Store products you've installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the items listed in the search window is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Log out and log back in. Test.

  • Can I keep a copy of a photo and delete original?

hey. Can I keep the copy of a pic and just delete original? like I know all photos go to one folder..but lets say I copy a pic to a folder I create..I go back to delete out of main folder.and it deletes it everywhere. anyway I can have the folder keep it? I get pics of dailies I shoot and I wanna keep em in a seperate folder.

The albums you can create on the fly only link to the camera roll.
But you could get a photo folder app and store the photos there, and keep the camera roll empty.

I accidentally deleted an app.  How do I restore?

As long as it's still available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to download it, then you should be able to re-download it for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
