Deleting photo folders

I'm an absolute beginner to iDVD 5 and cannot find a means of deleting photo folders from the Customize>Media sector of iDVD 5 - the <delete> key is inoperative on highlighted folders. There is an option under <Preferences>, <Movies> to <Remove> movies - and only movies - but not under <Slideshow>. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Jeff:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Are you trying to delete the slideshow from iDVD or the iPhoto Album folder that you see in the Media section of iDVD when you select photos, like the Easter folder here? If that's it then you can't. That's an album that's you created in iPhoto for the purpose of assembling a select group of photos for use by iPhoto or iDVD or iMovie.

  • Deleting Photo Folders and Questions?

I have sync'ed a Folder with pics from my Windows XP computer to my Nano and now I just want to delete the entire folder but I can't seem to find a way to do that.
In addition, I have 2 computers and I want to install iTunes on the other so I can get songs and photos stored in the another computer - can I do that?
    Thanks.

    chelseabees,
I beg to differ with you. All songs are stored in the Nano as .mp3s under a hidden folder called iPod_Control. If you have Windows XP showing hidden files and folders you can see it. Under that folder there are several hidden folders and one of the is called Music. There are several directories under it with all your .mp3s. You can copy those files to your PC and use some of the many freeware utilities that will rename your files with the .mp3 tag information.
Mp3 Tag Tools 1.2 from download.com is one such program.

  • How do i download 15 photo folders to my ipad. it only lets me download one. if i try download another folder, it deletes the previous folder.

You need to select and sync them in one go. Photos that you sync from your computer can't be deleted directly in the Photos app, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync - so you've effectively been telling iTunes to replace the folder that you've just synced with a new folder

  • How can we get a new computer to recognize photo folders on the iPhone so they can be deleted from the iPhone?

My wife has an old Windows Vista computer that is unable to operate the new IOS. I have installed iTunes on my Windows 7 computer and authorized the computer on iTunes. We are unable to delete/recognize photo FOLDERS from her iPhone 4 on my computer within iTunes. The only photos I can pull off her phone are being recognized by the windows system as a camera plug-in from her Camera Roll on the iPhone.

iOS does not operate on the computer.
If she has Vista, she can run iTunes 11 which is needed for iOS 7.

Do you want to delete the photos on the camera or copy them back to the computer?

  • Photo sync still stinks and deletes my folders.

OK, I upped to 4.2 on my iPad, and the sync problem is still there. I want to add images to my existing folders on the iPad. So, I add the images to the appropriate folders on iPhoto, and go to iTunes to sync. I use manual sync, select only the folders I want to update, and then apply. I have about 15 photo folders and needed to update two. Now all I have is the two! What is wrong with this thing?! I made sure to deselect the folders I wanted to leave alone, and it decided to delete them! This is absurd. The process is so un-intuitive and illogical, I can't believe it is an Apple product, of which I like most all of.

Yes, in the beginning this confused me too. If you deselect folders, iTunes thinks you don't want them on your iPad anymore. Just leave all your folders selected and iTunes will sync the differences between computer and iPad (just the new photos, not all photos again).

  • How to delete new, unwanted photo folders

I just got the brand new itunes update and put some new photos on my iphone and now i have 2 new photo folders: photo library and the name of the folder from the computer i put on there. Both folders contain the 2 pictures i wanted to put on the phone but now i don't need them on there and i can't for the life of me figure out how to get rid of them. I tried going into itunes and deselcting the folders like i'd read to do on here but there is no option to deselect folders or anything and i can't swipe right to delete them on my phone or anything. Any help would be appreciated cause this is ******* me off lol Why do apple make it so god **** hard to just delete unwanted ****?!

I can't delete photos from my Ipad I have tried already removing and changing folders in photos app

If photos were synced from your computer then they can't be deleted directly on the iPad, you will need to remove/de-select them from where you synced it from on your computer and re-sync.

how do i delete photos from camera roll after i add them to specific folders ?

Camera roll is the master list of all photos in the app.  When you place a photo in an album, it's still in the camera roll.

  • Permanently Deleting Photos and Folders from iPhoto

I just purchased my first iMac on April 2, 2008 and simply love it. Goodbye Windows. WooHoo...
OK, now for my question. I am a semi-professional photographer that commonly takes about 500-1,000 photos during any given photo shoot. Normally (on Windows with Adobe Photoshop), I would load all 1,000 photos into my Adobe Catalog and review them. After a few days of edits and review, I may only want to keep the best 50-100 photos and I delete the others. But when I use iPhoto, even if I delete the 900 extra photos from my Library, they still sit in the iPhoto Library folders and take up space. I have opened the iPhoto Library Package and can see the Data, Modified and Original folders with all of the unwanted files, but I was advised by Apple Support to NEVER delete or remove files by opening the iPhoto "Package".
Is there any way to physically remove the unwanted photos from iPhoto once they are in my iPhoto Library, or do I need to edit and review them outside of iPhoto before I load them into the iPhoto Library which seems to be a permanent thing?
This is a common process for photographers who take a lot of photos. It's nice to be able to review and edit them before deciding on the best ones to keep. Surely there must be an option from within iPhoto that would physically removed the deleted photos and update the iPhoto Library correctly, without having to open the iPhoto Package and risk corrupting the Library.
Since each photo will be between 4MB (jpg) to 10MB (RAW) in size, do I need to use another application for my initial sorting, review and editing, then only import into iPhoto the "Keepers"? If so, what application should I be using?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    As stated above:
Put the pics in the iPhoto trash and then iPhoto Menu -> Empty the Trash
This removes the pics from iPhoto and the Hard Drive.
    A couple of notes:
    1. You need to be in the Library view to do this. If you delete from an album it only removes the pics from the Album. To put pics from an Album directly into the trash use the -delete keystroke
Are you sure that you're in the Library View? This is the most common reason this doesn't work. On a longer shot there may be minor issues with your HD, but first make sure that you're in the Library View when deleting.
Also, I want to have iPhoto write the "Modified" version of my images on top of the "Original"... to save HD space. Can that be done?
No. iPhoto preserves your Original file no matter what. This is hardwired into the application and there is no easy way to defeat it.
You may export all your pics from iPhoto. Empty out the iPhoto Library (put the pics in the trash, empty the trash) then re-import the one previously exported. But this is long winded and will need to be done as your library grows. And, of course, this will defeat the Non-Destructive editing feature of iPhoto.
You can run a library from an external disk:
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library Folder as an entity from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
Of, if you don't want your Original file preserved, then simply don't use iPhoto. There are alternatives out there. Search on MacUpdate.
