Deleting photos bug?

HI!
I Think a have a problem with a new iPhoto`08.
When i delete a photo in edit mode, and then use Command+Z to revert it back do Library - it's thumbail does not appear back in this preview on top of iPhoto. I have to go back to Library to see it.
Thanks and sorry for my english, iWicko (Poland)

iWicko:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It works for me. I deleted a photo while in the edit window and then type Command-Z and it came back in both the main edit window and the thumbnail tray.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • IOS7 huge bug. Deleted photos re-appearing!

Ok I don't know if this happned to anyone else or just me. That I recently copyed some PNG tye image files to my iPhone 5c and then I discovered my old deleted photos re-appeared. As you know that PNG files' background is transparent so the old deleted files would be underneath the new PNG files and showing directly to the user. I am surprised to have found my old "not so pretty" pictures re-appearing. I know this is a bug and just wondering if Apple is working on a fix? For now, if someone can have a temparary fix or workaround would be appreciated.
Update: I have just found out that If I delete the "mixed pictures" and re-adding new PNG files to my iPhone, the "mixed pictures" will be stacked beneath the new PNG file again I think this has to be something to do with the software itself.

I just noticed this myself today.  Just as you describe.  I am using iOS 7 ver. 7.0.2.  I see this as a security/privacy issue as it shows that photos that the act of deleting photos, just removes them from the Photos app, but does not actually delete the image data from the device.  Who else can recover these deleted images?

  • Can't delete photos from Iphone Photo Stream - Have tried everything Apple has instructed me

I am soooooooo frustrated.  I just downloaded OS 5 on my Iphone 4 and bought Apple TV - and was introduced to what looked like the wonderful world of "iCloud" and Photostream.  Particularly photo stream on my screen saver on my new Apple TV.   I took numerous shots this weekend, most which I wanted to delete - with my Photo Stream on and all settings set on iCloud - my Iphone, and my PC.
For the life of me, I can not delete photos in my Iphone Photostream.  I have done all you said Apple - go to iCloud - and "Reset PhotoStream..."  (actually tried this about 10 times in the last 48 hours - and all I get is...
“Could Not Reset Your Photo Stream.
Your Photo Stream could not be reset at this time due to a server error. Try again later…”
I know I';m not alone on this as I have seen other postings/users with the similar complaint.
I have turned on and off - the on - the photostream on my Iphone - yes - it deletes the photos, but then when you turn it back on, they ALL come back - including the unwanted ones.
I even turned off - then back on- the photo stream on the iCloud DAshboard (because someone said to do it) and it still didn't work.
Then I plugged my Iphone in to the computer - to go into my Photos - and manually deleted the photos I didn't want. . I did delete them, as well as the unwanted photos in Photostream on my PC, but the freaking unwanted photos are still on my iphone - and wont' go away.  It's like a virus that won't dissapear.  I took pictures of this ugly cow at a pumpkin patch sticking it's tongue out at me, and I can't get rid of them!!!
We have long been fans/customers of Apple (we own 2 iphones, a Mac, and an IPad). And.. just so you know, in all the time I've been writing this, I've been on "hold" waiting for an Apple Tech support person (3rd call to them in 2 days) to pick up, and all I get now is a ringing phone w no one answering it... Click.
I read the other VERY frustrated users on this forum and I don't see one clear cut answer on how to fix these problems.  Apple - at least you can recognize the problem, own up to it, and tell us that this will be fixed - which I sure it will be at some point. You have to get this together.
Steve is gone (god bless his soul and I thank him for all he has done) and my experiences with Apple now have turned horrible.  And if any tech support person (and I know you guys are very nice and try the best you can) knows a thing or three on how to fix this, my case number is 252 894 095 and I would love to fix this issue. I think it has great potential but it clearly has bugs in it now.

If you are using a PC, log on to iCloud using Safari (rather than Explorer) to reset the photostream. Then turn iPhone/iPad photostream off and back on. I was getting the same server error as you and this advice from another blog worked for my iPhone and iPad.  But I still can't get photostream deleted from my apple tv. There does not seem to be a photostream on/off control In Apple tv 4.4 software.  I tried switching the screen saver to one of the ones that comes preloaded on the device, then back to photostream but all the old photos are still there.  If anyone can help with this, I would appreciate it.

  • How do I delete photos in iPhoto '11?

I have a lot of photos I want to delete from my library. I can find most of them using a Smart Album. When I am browsing the album I cannot delete photos. Pressing either Delete key does nothing, clicking the Trash icon does nothing. I flagged the photos then tried deleting them from the Flagged album. No dice, they just disappear (I guess I just unflagged them).
Some of the pictures are videos.
This is just too damned much. I am not a ludite. I should not have to get help just to delete some pictures.

Why isn’t htat in the help files anywhere? There’s nothing that says Delete, drag to trash, or right-click and select Trash only works in Events and nothing about using modifiers.
Scott, you are right. That is buggy - either the program is buggy or the help text is wrong.
There is no sense in displaying a Trash bin in the pop-up panel, that does nothing when clicked.
Send feedback to Apple and file a bug report using the feedback form:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
However, it makes sense to have two different commands when deleting from an album or smart album: You need to be able to say if to remove photos from the album or if you want to delete them from the library, so you need different shortcuts. And the shortcut to delete is the more complicated one, so you do not do this accidentally.

  • Ios 8.3 recovered my "permanently" deleted photos

I just updated to ios 8.3 and my camera roll is full of old photos which I had permanently deleted.  In addition, the "recently deleted" folder was full of photos (with the timer set to delete permanently in 30 days) but which I had previously already "permanently" deleted, or so I thought.  I don't use the icloud photo library, and they aren't in any photostreams.  They should have been permanently deleted.  This is a privacy concern.  Where were these photos being stored?  If I delete them again now, will they still be stored somewhere?

There was a bug in several versions prior to 8.3 that resulted in deleted photos only being removed from the list, but not removed from the phone's memory. This was fixed, so now those photos show up so you can really delete them.

  • Major Problem Trying to Delete Photos

I never tried to delete photos before from Lightroom and now I find that it is exceedingly weird. I have a set of about 100 photos I want to delete. I guessed at what should be done. Highlight them, hit delete. So I do that. I select 100 photos, hit delete. It asks me if I want to remove the photos from lightroom only, or delete them completely off my hard drive. I select remove from lightroom only. I do that and find that only the 1st photo out of 100 has been deleted. No matter what I do, only one photo is deleted. Lightroom tells me that 100 photos have been selected but will only delete one.
It took me a very very long time to delete 100 photos. Surely there must be a way to do batch deletes?? No?
    help!
Also, I just found out the same issue with keywords. I wanted to assign the same set of keywords to about 90 photos. I highlighted them all, assigned the keywords, and then found that only photo #1 has key words associated with it. All the other photos have nothing even though they were selected.
What is going on with Lightroom?
    Mac, OS X 10.4.9, Lightroom 1.1.
    Thanks

    Anita:
Tom said that Delete of several photos, multiselected in filmstrip is not working. Instead, only the "most selected photo" is deleted.
This filmstrip behaviour differs from grid and behaviour described in help.
This is usability bug, that breaks one of the main UI consistance rule: "if you have similar looking controls, they should behave the same way".
    LR has other such bugs:
    1. histogram view in develop and in library - similar look, different behaviour.
    2. Loupe view and Develop - scroll by mouse wheel on background around picture works in loupe and don't in develop.
    3. Double click on background around picture in Loupe brings Grid, while it is not in Develop
    4. One click on word "Exposure" in Quick Develop resets it, while it is not in Basic Develop (only double click works)
    etc,...
No a big deal, but very annoying.
I think LR team should make some UI Experience profiling.
    John:
And what the reasons? I don't see any.

  • Aperture keeps restoring deleted photos

    Hi there pros,
I need some help, partly because my problem is nongooglable as it seems..
My Aperture keeps restoring photos that I've already deleted! It happens when I have to restore the database. But since I had the problem before I made sure that NOTHING had a below-zero-star-rating (I don't know the english word, sorry), NOTHING was in the Aperture trash, and NOTHING was in the MacOS X Trash.
So where does Aperture get those photos from?!? I don't know what I find more annoying: that I have to sight them all again and decide from the beginning which photo I want to keep, or that those pictures might somewhere occupy disc space.
now, when I google something like the topicname, I only get results about people wanting to restore their accidentally deleted photos. Apparently that is the more common question. Nevertheless, mine is really annoying too!!
Has anybody come across this problem? ANY idea what could help? Because I have no idea, with what I could even start trying..
    thanks in advance!
    Mario
PS: by the way, aperture is on the latest version, mavericks too.

So where does Aperture get those photos from?!? I don't know what I find more annoying: that I have to sight them all again and decide from the beginning which photo I want to keep, or that those pictures might somewhere occupy disc space.
The "recovered items" you find after the Aperture library or iPhoto library has been repaid or rebuild, is a collection of orphaned images, that have been found in the photo library and are not linked to any image version. These orphans can be created by several problems:
If you use an external editor and accidentally use "Save as" instead of "Save". Then you will write files into the library, that Aperture cannot access.
When the connection between the image version and the original file gets broken; this can happen for several reasons, for example, when you access the files inside the library from other applications or another user account, or the library is stored on an incorrectly formatted disk, or your  disk has bad blocks, or similar.
Permission problems with your Aperture trash or system trash.  Sometimes it can happen, that original files that should be trashed, cannot be removed from the library. If you open your library in iPhoto, you may be caught by the bug, that the originals will not be deleted, if you merged its event with a different event before emptying the Trash.
Could any of these reasons apply in your case? Check carefully, if the originals in the Recovered Items are really redundant, if they are apparently duplicates of photos you want to keep. I'd export them to keep a backup before deleting them.
It happens when I have to restore the database.
Do you mean, when you restore the database from a backup, or is this a typo and you meant "repair or rebuild"?

  • HT201269 I am trying to save memory on my iPhone 4S/ ios6. Can I back up all photos to icloud and the external hard disk I normally use for photos? If I then delete photos from the iPhone do the get deleted on iCloud?

I am trying to save memory on my iPhone 4S/ ios6.
    1) Can I back up all photos to icloud and the external hard disk I normally use for photos? If I then delete photos from the iPhone do the get deleted on iCloud?
    2) Can I back up the newsstand to iCloud and save memory on the iPhone?
    3) Can I back up the bookshelf to icloud and save memory on the iPhone?

    1. What format is the external drive? It sounds like it's ina format that Macs can't write to. Is it a NAS or NTFS?
    2. Easiest thing: just move your iPhoto Library to the external
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • How do I recover a deleted photo from my iphone

how do I recover a deleted photo from my iphone?

The iPhone Photo Recovery allows you to recover data by two ways: Recover from iOS devices and recover from iTunes backup. No matter which way you choose, the first step is to download and install the software on your computer. Then follow the way below to get back your data.
Part 1: Directly recover photo from iPhone 5/4S, iPad mini, iPad with Retina display, The New iPad, iPad 2 & iPod touch 5
article: How to recover deleted photos from iPhone.
Part 2: Recover Data Directly from iPhone 4/3GS, iPad 1 & iPod touch 4
Part 3: Extract iTunes Backup to Recover Previous Data for All iOS Devices
This data recovery mode lets you recover not only existing data in the backup, but also those data deleted from your device before you made the backup, as long as they were not overwritten.
Note: Don't sync your device with iTunes when you realize that you've lost data, or the iTunes backup file will be updated after the sync, if you want to recover them through this recovery mode.

  • Can't delete photos from camera roll

I took several photos over the weekend and downloaded them to iPhoto last night. I chose the 'delete photos' option at the end, but today some of the photos were still there. I synced my iPhone just a few minutes ago, and iPhoto offered to download the handful that were still on the phone. I did, and chose to replace the duplicates in iPhoto with the versions on the phone. I again chose 'delete photos' but the photos were not removed from the phone. Is there a way to resolve this?
    Thanks!

To delete large numbers of pictures from your Camera Roll, use the Image Capture app.
Select the pictures you want to delete and click the red stop sign at the bottom.
This might not work if you select too many pictures. Try selecting under 500 pictures each time.
The delete function might fail after one or two times. You need to reconnect the iPhone so the app can reload the Camera Roll.
Used it to delete 3.500 travel photos from my iPhone.

  • Please can someone help me with saving/deleting photos?

Hi, I know I am not using my iPhone correctly, but I am a busy mother and have been stacking up the photos on Camera Roll.  I now need to delete some, but want to keep some to show friends. I don't have time to trawl the forums looking for the answer so am really hoping someone will take pity on me and answer these simple questions, bearing in mind that I can't get to a computer to sync that often, so i am going to have lots of photos.
    1) How do you transfer photos from Camera Roll to an album using the phone?
    2) When I sync and photos are downloaded from my camera roll I get a pop up asking if I want to keep or delete the photos on my phone. If I choose Delete, will it delete just the photos in Camera Roll, or in the albums too?
    3) I have chosen Keep in the past and now have masses of photos on my camera roll.  Short of using the curved arrow in the top right and selecting each photo individually, is there a way to delete multiple photos all at once on the phone (not on computer)?
    4) Why oh why haven't Apple got a 'protect' button for individual photos so that you can keep a few photos in camera roll and delete the rest, like on a digital camera (yes I KNOW this isn't what Camera Roll is for...) It just makes so much sense.
    Thanks.

There isn't any "delete all" button for deleting photos on your phone.  The fastest way to delete photos is with your computer, but on the phone you will have to open the Camera Roll in thumbnail view, tap the arrow button on upper right, tap all the photos you want to delete, tap the Delete button.
When you delete photos from the Camera Roll they are also deleted from any albums they may be in.  Albums are like music playlists, they only contain pointers to the photos in Camera Roll to allow you to look at a filtered view of selected photos.  Just as deleting songs from your library will also remove them from any playlist, so too removing photos from Camera Roll removes them from any album.
As for why Apple doesn't have a "protect" button, you could offer that suggestion to Apple here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html.

I get error message: not enough space to download when I try to buy a tv series on Itunes. It tells me to delete photos or videos to make space, but I have no photos and videos. Help?

I would guess that a TV series takes up a fair amount of storage capacity. It is just a standard message I think that may indicate that you are actually running low on storage space.
If you go to Settings>General>About how many GBs are specified as being available?  If you are low on space maybe deleting some apps may help.

  • Delete photos from iPod Touch 4G

I can no longer sync my iPod Touch 4G (iOS 6) with iTunes (insufficient space).  When I bought my MacBook Pro last year, they set it up to sync my photos (I literally have over 12,000 photos) which all got transferred to my iPod.  I want to delete them but can't seem to find any delete options or how to stop iPhoto from automatically transferring all of my photos after uploading.  I now have iTunes 11 and it doesn't even show photos in the sidebar anymore so I can't seem to delete them that way. Anyone know how I can remove these photos from my iPod and/or stop iPhoto from always syncing them to the iPod??

To delete photos and videos from your device
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
There are also thrid-party programs that should work. PhoneView and TouchCopy are two. They are paid programs.
