Deleting photos from photo library on iphone

Hello people,
i am a new user of iphone and i am not able to figure out the solution for deleting photos from the photo library of iphone.please help me out with this.i will be very glad if i am provided with the solution.

To add even more details and help
One thing about the iPhone and Windows users (not sure what happens with Mac users) is when you first get your iPhone and hook up to your computer and go into iTunes to go do your first sync. The default for where it will get your photos to sync is the "My Pictures" folder for your user profile.
Many realize after that first sync that they just synced tons of junk they never really wanted on the phone (as for many Windows users, there are sample pics, temp pics, etc all in that folder and subfolders.
You will find it far easier to go make a folder someplace on your computer.
For Example:
C:\IPHONEPICS (though I personally wouldn't make it at the root like that, but this is just for example)
Then COPY pictures you want to go to your iPhone into that folder.
Then back in iTunes for the Photos option (tab) for the iPhone, choose the option to select a different folder other than "My Pictures" (drop down).
Browse and select that folder you made.
Now when you sync it will sync with that folder that you explictly put photos you want on your iPhone.
The reason I said put copies there is that later if you want a photo off your phone, just delete it from that folder on you computer then sync. And when you want new pics on your phone, just put copies in that folder and sync. Far easier to manage.
As a final tip. In that folder you are allowed to make sub folders to make Libraries on your phone. But note, you can only go one folder deep.
For example:
C:\IPHONEPICS is what you made to sync to.
Now you can create in there
C:\IPHONEPICS\FAMILY
C:\IPHONEPICS\PARTY
C:\IPHONEPICS\MISC
C:\IPHONEPICS\GIRLNEXTDOOR
And put copies of pics into each of those folders. They will be different libraries on your phone. But note you cannot create:
C:\IPHONEPICS\FAMILY\WIFE
As that is two subfolders deep.

  • How to delete photo library off iphone 5s

I only have 221 photos saved on my 32 GB iPhone 5s, but in Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage it shows that 8.9 GB are being used by 'Photos & Camera'!
Of that, 'Photo Library' is taking up 8.8 GB of space and I can't figure out how to get rid of it.  I went into iTunes and removed the check mark on 'Sync photos',, then re-synced my phone, but that didn't do it.  How do I remove the 'Photo Library' from my phone?  That's an awful lot of memory usage for what appears to be nothing.
Thanks for any advice you can provide!

    Hello moskigirl,
It may help to force close all open apps and restart your iPhone.
Force an app to close in iOS

Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

If the space used by Photos & Camera hasn't decreased, the next step would be to restore the device.
Back up and restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iCloud or iTunes

  • How do I permanently delete music from iTunes library and iPhone?

I had some old music I didn't like anymore so I went to delete it but it still shows up in my iTunes library and my phone. I plug in my phone to my laptop and in iTunes, all of the apparently deleted songs are gray text instead of black and they all have a gray, dotted circle next to it and this is really bothering me because all I see is clutter. Same goes for my phone. When "Show All Music" is turned off, I don't see any of the deleted songs which is what I want but when it's turned on, they come back with the iCloud symbol next to it and I don't like that at all. I want ALL of my songs to be PERMANENTLY DELETED meaning that if "Show All Music" is turned on or off, I don't want to see the music in my phone or in my iTunes library.

    Hi Jessica,
I found an article how you could do that on iTunes: iTunes Store: How to delete songs from iCloud - Apple Support and another blog post on this issue: http://ios.wonderhowto.com/how-to/delete-phantom-icloud-songs-your-iphone-015457 5/
    Give it a try.
    With kind regards,

You can't delete the Photo Library. The iPhone stores photos the same way iPhoto does on a Mac. All photos are synced to your Photo Library. The various albums/folders merely contain pointers to the actual photos which are in your Photo Library, they are not duplicates.

How do I delete photo library on the iphone 5?  I have tried going to settings, general, usage, photos & camera, photo library, swipped it and hit delete but it does not delete the photos in photo library.

You delete them the same way you put it on the phone, unsync it with itunes.  you can only delete pics from your camera roll.

  • Please help needed os x lion I wish to transfer photos from the iPhoto library to a album or folder then delete them from the Library but when I do this it also deletes them from the album ? how do I do this please.

Please help needed os x lion I wish to transfer photos from the iPhoto library to a album or folder then delete them from the Library but when I do this it also deletes them from the album ? how do I do this please.

Albums are not places to store photos, they're more like "labels" you can apply to photos to better organize them. A single image file can be in multiple albums... they are not copies, it's simply been labelled as being in all those albums. So what you're trying to do doesn't make sense, because it's based on incorrect assumptions.
The iPhoto library will always show all photos that you have added to iPhoto.

You should be able to delete the photos by syncing with iTunes. Either remove the checkmark beside "Sync Photos From" on the photos page of iTunes or change the selection of photos to be synced. Each time you sync it is supposed to set the non-Camera Roll photos on the phone to match the current settings/selection in iTunes.

  • How do I delete photos on my iPhone that were transferred from iPhoto to my phone?

I recently transfered most of my photos from my iphone to iphoto on my macbook. A couple of days later I transfered some of them back onto my iphone, but now when i look at them on my iphone there is no way to delete them there. Ive tried everything but nothing works. I simply cannot delete photos on my iphone that were transfered there from iphoto.
I thought apple was supposed to make things easier, but apparently not.

Correct. You need to Un-sync them using your Computer.
Basically do the opposite of what you did to get them on your Device.

  • Stop iPhoto from exporting photo library TO iPhone

When my iPhone 5s is synced to iPhoto, iPhoto will import my photos from my phone into my iPhoto library however once that is complete iPhoto will then export my ENTIRE iPhoto library (phone photo & other photos taken with my digital camera) TO my phone. I have checked the photo settings in iTunes for when my phone is synced and the option to transfer photos from iPhoto library to iPhone is not selected. Do I need to change the setting in iPhoto? If so, where? This problem is very frustrating.

Check iPhoto's iCloud preference pane and make sure this checkbox is NOT checked:

  • ICloud Photo Library and iPhone Storage

How can I delete just the locally stored photos/videos on my iPhone? I am using iCloud Photo Library and just imported thousands of pics into Photos for Mac. Now, my iPhone can "see" my entire photos library, but I have 18GB of 'Photos' locally stored on the phone. I would like to be able to delete the locally stored pics but when I try to delete any image (whether I know it's one that is locally stored or know it is one that is in iCloud), it says, "This photo will be deleted from iCloud Photo Library on all of your devices." I do not want to delete it from iCloud, only my iPhone. Thanks in advance!

yeah, I don't think they are allowing you to do this. You can only optimize the locally stored photos, and if the phone fills up with those, it will then dump some from your phone but keep them in the cloud. Like you, I was hoping that once you store a photo in iCloud, you could remove the local copy of the photo. and worse, if you do start deleting photos from your phone, it sounds like they automatically get deleted off of the cloud, after 30 days that is. Doesn't make sense to me. Finally, on your mac, if you have more photos than you have iCloud photo storage, it just stops syncing, rather than just storing your most recent pics?!?
