Deleting Photos off a 1st generation Ipod

Hey all,
I don't know how I did it, but somehow I ended up with most of the 17,000 pictures in my iPhoto library on my wife's 2 gig iPod nano and I can't figure out how to get them off.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Ted

Hello tedp1,
I would plug your iPod into your computer, and when it appears in iTunes, head over to the Photos tab. Make sure you don't have it set up to sync photos by removing the check mark at the top of that tab.
Otherwise restoring the iPod via iTunes would also do the trick as well, but would also delete anything and everything off your iPod.

  • Deleting photos off of ipod?

How can i delete photos off my ipod? I can't seem to figure it out. Please help!

Connect your iPod to your computer. When it appears in iTunes go to edit-->preferences. Click the iPod tab, then the photos tab under that. Uncheck "Syncronize photos from..." Click OK. All photos will now be deleted off of your iPod.
To delete certain photos, you can remove them from the folder pictures are being updated from.
I have my photo library organized on my computer, and didn't want to change it for the iPod. So, I created a folder called "iPod Pics." Under the photo preferences for the iPod, I told iTunes to sync from there. I just put in and remove photos that I want for my iPod there. This way, I don't need to edit the My Pictures folder just for my iPod.

  • How to delete photos off my ipod touch 4g after updating

How do u delete photos off my ipod touch 4g after updating it to ios 6.0.1?

To delete photos and videos from your device
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
To delete Camera Roll photos and videos
There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer, choosing to delete items after import.
    or
Delete photos and videos from your device manually. Open the Photos application, open the Camera Roll, tap the Action button, tap each photo to select it, and tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save for later, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.

  • 1st Generation Ipod touch  keeps crashing/going into stand by mode 3.1.3

I have a 1st generation ipod touch that I recently restored to the newest firmware 3.1.3. My problem is that after this restore and subsequent restore attempts is that the device keeps clicking off to a black screen when I use wifi or transition from different desktop screens. The device does not completely crash as once the screen goes black I can hit the home button an slide to unlock. I have found that if I disable wifi this problem does not occur. I have tried to both reset and restore with no success. Any suggestions or ideas?

If a restore did not help, I'm afraid you have a hardware issue there.

  • 1st generation ipod freezes

My 1st generation ipod was in the middle of playing a song and then froze.  Now, I can't get it to play and I can't get it to shut off.  It seems none of the buttons are responding.  The battery is charged.  Help, please

    Wow!!
    THANK YOU, Kenichi!!!
Yes, based on your comments, it seems to be a REAL Gen 1st iPod.  The scroll wheel does actually turn, but it does work to a dock connector.  I have no idea what a FireWire port is, I am afraid.
And I am a REAL 51 year old woman who was given this as a gift and have NEVER touched one of these devices before!!!   LOL!  I am stuck in a late 1990's technical arena on several fronts, so it is a bit overwhelming since I have so much to catch up on.
    You helped me tremendously.  ☺
Before reading your message, I poked around a little.  Just on my own instincts, I connected the iPod to power even tho the battery indicator showed fully charged.  I read a little on the APPLE website to get a general idea of where to start.  It sounded like I needed to reset the iPOD similar to "hard-booting" a computer.  When the iPOD had been connected for about 45 mins, I pushed the MENU button and the FORWARD button at the same time and held them for 6 to 10 seconds.
The light/APPLE icon displayed along with the start MENU.
    Progress!!!
I will let you know if this worked.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Ios 3.1.1 will not download for the 1st generation ipod touch

Why won't ios 3.1.1 download for the 1st generation ipod touch?  It will start and then a second later stop.

Does it happen with the apps that came with the iPod?
Does it happen with all apps you have downloaded/installed?
Have you ried deleting the apps and redownload/install the apps?  You will not be charged again if you are signed into the same iTunes account that originally purchased the apps.
Next would be to restore from backup
Last would be to restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • I have the 1st generation ipod touch is there anyway that apple will trade it for the new ipod touch even if i have to put in a little money myself like some trade in credit or somthing?

I have the 1st generation ipod touch looking to trade for the new ipod touch or someone to give me money for the new ipod touch

There is no trade in program.
You can sell to to someone.
Apple has a recycling program where they will give you 10% off of a new ipod if your bring in your old one.

  • HT1719 why doesnt my 1st generation ipod shuffle appear on my devices on itunes?

Why doesnt my 1st generation ipod shuffle appear under my devices on itunes when i plug it in? i have windows 7. I got the ipod today from a friend with their music. i deleted their music and added my own to the folder it was in. but when i unplugged it i still had their music and none of mine.

You need to restore the Shuffle in iTunes first. Then sync all of your music stored in iTunes over to it. Or is that what you did?

  • TS1363 1st generation iPod shuffle does not show up in iTunes (windows 7)?

1st generation iPod shuffle does not show up in iTunes on my Windows 7 PC (but shows up in my computer).  Tried all the Apple trouble-shooting steps (some several times).  It used to work with Windows 7 on this PC.  Are there other steps I can try?

I'm not sure what "all" means, unless you state them, so if you have not done so already, you should use this procedure to reset the iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1655
Then, shut down your computer (power off) and start it up, with iPod shuffle NOT connected.  Run iTunes.  Then, try connecting the iPod shuffle again.
Since this is a first gen iPod shuffle that IS recognized by the computer (so it's probably not a bad USB connector), you can also try using the iPod Reset Utility
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1238
This is for the first and second gen iPod shuffle only, and does a lower level reset than using a normal Restore in iTunes.

  • 1st Generation iPod as Camera Storage

I just bought the Belkin Media Reader and it works fine on my iPod Photo, connect the reader to the iPod and transfer photos...Great! Now I want to use my 1st Generation iPod as a storage devise for my camera, it has software version 1.5, according the Belkin instructions you would need version 2.1 or later for this devise to work. I also need to convert the firewire to a dock style connection, has anyone done anything like this? Let me know what you think!! Thanx, Jeff

You said "I am really unbelievably fed-up with the useless "try checking your USB cable"-style"
    - Did you try another cable?
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    Try on another computer

  • 1st generation ipod touch won't turn on

I tried to reset my 1st generation ipod to it's factory settings but when I went to turn it on, all it does is show the apple screen and says it is loading.  I let it do this for over 24 hours.  It is still doing the same thing.  I have tried restarting it but that does nothing.  Please help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • 1st Generation iPod Touch No Longer Recognized by Windows 7 PC

I have a 1st generation iPod Touch (no camera) that can no longer connect to my Windows 7 pc. Plugging in the iPod via USB does not trigger any sort of dialog box in Windows and it doesn't trigger a message saying a device has been connected; the iPod does not show up in either iTunes, Computer, Device Manager or Devices and Printers, either as an Apple mobile device or an unrecognized device, and does not charge when connected to USB (though the wall-charger still works). As far as my computer is concerned this iPod does not exist. I had successfully synced this iPod as recently as one week ago and am ready to pitch the thing in the garbage if I can't find a solution.
I have the latest version of iTunes as well as the most up-to-date Windows updates. I have already followed all the steps listed here (iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows) multiple times with no success.
I also have tried following the instructions listed here (Re: For those Windows users who suddenly cannot see their device in iTunes. Here's a solution that has worked.) but this also hasn't worked since the iPod isn't recognized in the Device Manager and I am not given the option of updating the drivers, manually or otherwise.
I have uninstalled/re-installed iTunes and all related Apple services multiple times. The Apple Mobile Device Service is functioning normally. iTunes diagnostics indicate that there is no device connected no matter what I do. I have reinstalled my Windows USB drivers and changed the settings on the USB Root Hub in the Windows Device Manager to disable power saving options.
I have tried connecting the device to another PC which detects and syncs another apple device (iPhone 5) with no issues, and had the exact same result: the computer doesn't even recognize an iPod is connected.
I can't update the Apple Mobile Device Drivers because the device is not recognized by my machine in any way.
I even completely reset my iPod and that just left me with a unactivated iPod that still isn't detected.
I am really unbelievably fed-up with the useless "try checking your USB cable"-style advice that people seem to offer on this forum. If anybody has dealt with this issue and has any serious advice other than "re-install iTunes," it would be much appreciated.
