Deleting Photoshop CS4 from a MacBook Pro?

i need to delete Photoshop CS4, so that i can install a full creative suite.
what is the best way to do this?
thanks!

LukeD beat me to it...with major applications, always be suspicious of the "drag to trash" method. That's usually only right with small apps. With major apps you should always check if there is an uninstaller you should be using. Major apps tend to leave large collections of files in several places which you will miss if you just drag one icon to the trash, this includes sprawling Apple apps like Final Cut Pro. Adobe apps also have online activation of their licenses which you should be sure to deactivate first, like you do with iTunes.

  • How do I delete an iphone from my MacBook Pro devices?

I had backed up my iPhone5 to my MacBook Pro.  My wife wanted to back up hers as well on my MBP, and I added hers as well.
Just before we upgraded to iPhone6, I synced my iPhone5 (OK).  I could not, however, finish syncing (had to abort) my wife's iPhone5.  I would now like to delete that device from my MacBook Pro to free up more memory.  She is now backing everything up to the Cloud.  I am using my MacBook Pro and a time-aching back-up to an external drive.
    Help, please!
    Thank you!

Open iTunes and click Preferences on the menu named iTunes, then click Devices in the Preferences window, select the device and click Delete Backup.
You can also delete apps that have been downloaded by going to the iTunes View menu, click Apps, click an App and then use the Delete key.

How do I delete a user from my macbook pro?

If you've admin privileges and there are no files in the user account that you want to keep, just go to System Preferences>Users & Groups and unlock it with your admin password. Select the user that you want to delete and click on the minus button. You'll get a warning before you completely delete the user but once it's gone, it's gone.

  • How can I transfer Photoshop CS5 from my macbook pro running Maverick to my iMac that is running Mountain Lion

I have been trying to figure out how to transfer Photoshop CS5 from my Macbook Pro to the my iMac. The Macbook Pro was running Mountain Lion until I updated a few days ago to Maverick. The iMac is sill running Mountain Lion because when I went to update to Maverick it let me know that I would not be able to run Photoshop CS3. Under normal conditions I would not be concerned, but I don't have the Photoshop CS5 disk anymore to install it, so hence my problem.
I tried backing up to time machine and that did not work, I tried a transfer using firewire and it transfer the problem but then when I try to open it on the iMac it is looking for the serial number.
I would appreicate any help on resolving this.

    Hi landonw
The HD will probably have to be removed from the MacBook Pro and connected to a USB adapter or placed in a dock to get your data off of it. I would take the MacBook Pro along, the folks at the Apple Store should be more than happy to help transfer your data to a new iMac.
    {quote:}All I am really concerned about is my iTunes database and my firefox profiles.{quote}
    What no BACKUP'
To protect your data in the future, pickup a USB External HD +(for under a $100)+ and use Time Machine.

  • How can I completely delete an app from my Macbook Pro?

How can I completely delete an app from my Macbook Pro?

For programs that do not require an Administrator's password to install on your Mac, drag its program icon to the Trash. For those that require a password, research its developer's website or other support options for specific uninstallation instructions.
Never use all-purpose "cleaners" or "zappers" or similarly named clever utilities to uninstall anything.

  • I want to know how to delete game apps from my macbook pro also can i trust any macbook cleaners or keepers?

I want to know how to delete game apps from my macbook pro also can i trust any macbook cleaners or keepers? My mac seems to be running a bit off.

To delete any type of app you need to open the Finder window and highlight the app you want to delete by moving it to the trash. Empty the trash and it's gone. There are some Apple provided apps that cannot be deleted but you should not have any issue with the games.
As for cleaners, I personally don't use them but the 911 and Mackeeper are very popular and I hear work pretty well with Macs.

  • How do i delete photos from iPhoto without deleting them permanently from my macbook pro?

I'm sorry but i'm new to all this. When i move photos from iphoto to the trash will that also delete that particular photo from my macbook pro storage entirely?

To remove a photo from iPhoto and your Mac:
Put it in the iPhoto Trash, then enpty it. Then empty the system trash as well
If you want to remove a photo from iPhoto but keep it on your Mac:
First Export the file from iPhoto (File -> Export) to whereever you want it and then go through the steps above.
Confusion arises as the notion that you would want to remove a pic from iPhoto but keep it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. It's like saying I want to remove one address from Address Book, but still keep it on my Mac. The point of iPhoto and such apps is that they are used to manage your photos. Anything that you need to do with the pics cn be done either with or via iPhoto.

  • Deleted app store from my macbook pro

It's a bit complicated but here's what you can do:
How Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
A few of the basic OS X installed applications can be restored from the Optional Installs installer located in the Optional installs folder on your Installer DVD.  However, if what you need is not there then follow the instructions below.
How to Use Pacifist to Restore Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive.  Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items.  Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder. In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.)
Click on the  "Go" button ..... • Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
    D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
    1.          In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b.          or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
    3.          In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
    4.          On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
    5.          Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned. 20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk. 0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package. 0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
    6.          Click “close”. Go to step 7.
    Extract or Install........
    7.          In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
    8.          If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
    9.          In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
    10.          If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
    11.          Type in your password, click “OK”
Pacifist will begin to extract files.
    12.          In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes:          Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
    Stop
    Leave original alone
    Update .....
    Default selection
Replace .... (Replace option should only be used on full install packages)

  • Is there really no way to delete a profile from my macbook pro?

I got a new macbook pro recently. I was planning to move data from my old mac but couldn't resist to turn it on right away. In doing this I ended up having to set the profile up on my new mac. One step in this process is to move data from a different mac. Since I hadn't read up on the details of this step yet I chose to skip it. When I finally was ready to move the data from my old mac I was forced to create a another new profile.
I now have two profiles on my new mac and I'm desperate in trying to figure out how I can remove the old profile.
Is there really no way to delete an existing profile from my mac?

    r_hqt,
the way to delete a user account is to log in as the administrative user which you wish to keep, and open the Users & Groups pane in System Preferences. If the padlock in the lower-left corner of the System Preferences window is locked, click on the padlock to unlock it (by giving it your administrative user’s password). Select the user account that you would like to delete, and press the “-” button at the bottom of the list of user accounts. Relock the padlock if desired, and exit System Preferences.

  • How do I delete photo booth from my macbook pro?

I'm deleting some unneeded applications from my new Macbook Pro.  I have been successful with most and all of them that are not required as part of the OS system.  However, there are other apps that are more difficult to remove as I was able to go into Utilities and Terminal and type in some other specific applications that I wanted to remove (like Stickies, Chess, etc.).  However, one I am having trouble deleting is Photo Booth.  I also want to disable the webcam so I cannot even activate it by mistake.  Can someone tell me how to do that?
I was successful in removing all of the icons other than Finder, Safari and Trash from the bottom of my screen now that I have deleted everything else and it is much cleaner.
    Thank you!

Here's an app that supposedly will disable your isight. Says it works in Lion, maybe it will work in ML too: Download iSight Disabler for Mac - Quickly turn on/off your USB iSight. MacUpdate.comhttps://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23346/isight-disabler
Here's a thread with several possible solutions for disabling the isight: Is there a way to turn off and On the...: Apple Support Communities
And here is a page with a Terminal command for deleting Photo Booth: How to Delete Safari, Mail, FaceTime, Photo Booth, and Other Default Mac OS X Apps
As a general rule, however, removing system software is a bad idea.
If you're really paranoid about the camera, then a little piece of tape over the lens would do the trick!

  • Error 6 - Transferring Photoshop CS4 to new macbook pro

I'm in the process of changing transferring everything over to my new Macbook Pro. I uninstalled photoshop CS4 on my old laptop but when I tried to install it on this laptop a box popped up saying I needed a certain Java application (can't remember which) which it searched for and downloaded for me but after it finished and I clicked to install CS4 it said that my computer needed to be restarted and if that didn't solve the problem to contact support and let them know I have an error 6.  Hoping someone can help me out. Thank you in advance!!

Try downloading a fresh Mac CS4 installler.
Use the CScleaner tool first before installing, Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
Download CS4 products  Have your serial number ready.

  • How do i recover a deleted imessage conversation from my macbook pro?

How can i recover a conversation that has been deleted from my imessages? I havent backed up my computer with time machine.

    Hi,
If you had a Time Machine Backup you could go to the ~/Library/Messages and for the  iMessages Restore an older chat.db items and the other .db items that are there.
If you were saving chats on closing them you may find some or all in ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.ichat/Data/Library/Messages/Archive and looking through the dated folders.
To access the ~/Library use the Finder > Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key and selecting the Library that appears in the list.
Other than that it is gone.
The iMessages are Pushed from the server to the various devices that are "registered" to receive them.
This will continue for about 2 days if one device is Off Line.

  • How can you delete downloaded games from a Macbook Pro to create more available space?

it says I have 0KB available... how do i get rid of downloaded games to create extra space on my computer?

Start by dragging the games' applications to the Trash and Empty the Trash. See, also:
    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • How do i transfer cs4 from my macbook pro

I upgraded from a 2008 MBPro to a brand new MBAir. I want to transfer my CS4 software onto my new computer but can't seem to get it right. I tried the migration assistant but then every time I opened up an Adobe product, I got a licensing error. Can anyone help? I have my original CS4 disks but my MBAir doesn't have a CD drive.

You can go into your pictures folder in your user folder on your old computer and copy the iPhoto Library file (should be fairly large) either directly to the new computer or to an external drive.  Copy the old iPhoto Library over to the new pictures folder on your new computer.  The old iPhoto Library should overwrite the iPhoto Library on your new machine.  When you fire up iPhoto on your new machine, everything should be there in the same form as it was on your old machine.
