Deleting PO item category through configuration

I am going to delete PO item category 'Subcontracting' through configuration since we don't want user to use that for NB type PO.
1. Will it impact existing PO's with item category 'Subcontracting' ?
2. Can I restore it through configuration after few months ?
3. Will it have any other impact on system ?

For your Questions
1a. Yes, it will impact the existing PO, you should make sure all the PO are closed befor you delete the Item category
2a. yo can't
3a.yes you have GR issues and GI issues if PO is open.
if you have any partner issues you may have issue at Invoice level also

The item category will be REN , because the return process is same . But the only thing is in REN item category you have to maintain the BOM data as item categroy TAC has
Secondly make sure in item category determination in VOV4 you determine the item category REN .
For example RE + 0004 + --- + = REN

Want to change item category at the time of order creation

Hi Gurus,
Client require to implement individual PO scenario.
I was configured the same and working fine.
I am facing problem at the time of item category determination.
User using same material and order type and they are not ready to accept to create new order type.
Now My order type is OR and item category group is NORM and right now system determine item category TAN.
User not want to change manually at the time of order creation.
I have specific condition on which i want to apply this logic.
Now i want to determine TAB item category through some user exits or enhancement.
Can anyone suggest exact in which user exit or enhancement i have to change.

Item category change in contract load of CRM

Hi Guys,
i am loading contracts into CRM-intellectual property Management. i have to create 2 to 3 line items for same product in one contract with higher level items. generally item category is determined and can be changed via GUI. my requirement is i want to change item category through FM CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN by the time it creates contract but item category is not changing, showing what ever was determined.
i am passing item_type in ORDERADM_I and passing item_type field name for input fields but it is not helping me. Please let me know if any body has any clue..

Do you want to change the item category just before order (contract) save? Or after the save? Try looking at crm_orderadm_i_badi.
Another idea ... try manually changing the item category in CRM Online, BUT .. do a /h and place a breakpoint at ABAP statement "call function CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN". This way you can see the input parameters for CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN when CRM itself is changing the item category, the correct way. Then from these input parameters you can get the hint of what parameters must be passed to CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN to change the item category by a direct call. I hope that made sense....

Why item category re-determined at delivery level

Hi Gurus
I want to know what is the purpose of redetermining item category at delivery level?

First thing to know is that Item Category determination is used only on newly added items and other specific usages like batches, product substitution, etc. It is meant for Deliveries that are not created with reference to a sales order. If you are copying an item from the order and the item category is configured as a Delivery Item category in 0lvp, SAP copies the order item category and does not redetermine it from configuration.
If you are using Product Substitution in the delivery, SAP first copies the higher level item from the Sales Order, then executes Material Determination to bring in the substitution (lower level) items. In this case the higher level item category would be from the order. Redetermined BOMs would follow the same logic as Product substitution.
In short you can redetermine items in delivery when you are using product substitution or add new Items in delivery or using Sales BOMs.

Error while creating I/B delivery: No item category exists (Table T184L EL)

Hello all,
When I save output type "SPED" in outbound delivery, Inbound delivery automatically gets created.
But in this case error occured:
"No item category exists (Table T184L EL NLAG V )"
1. Specified material is HALB.
2. Item Cat in MMR is NORM
3. in Table T184 for "Delivery item Category Determination", configuration for EL NLAG V is NOT exists. But EL NORM V is exists
4. Testing for the SAME material in Test server is PERFECT. I/B delivery created automatically. Master data in Test system is replica of Production system.
Then where is the wrong....????
Could any one help on this?

Please have a look at your material. In material master there's a so called item category group (MARA-MTPOS_MARA and MVKE-MTPOS; these are on sales 2 view).
Please compare the value in this field in the materials used in test (NORM?) and production system (NLAG?).
This is one factor in item category determination as you can see in table T184L.

Trigger Item Category determination in sales order via program

Hi,
We are changing item category through an exit based on a field at item level, which the user would enter manually.
However once the exit changes the item category, if the user reverses his selection or gives another value for which item category should be the orginal one, i need to change the item category back to what was originally determined.
Rather than looking up the config tables of item category determination, we would like to trigger item category determination through the exit itself.
Can someone suggest if this is possible, if so what is the code to be written.

Item category usage - how to configure

My client requirements are
Need a new Usage code (item category usage)
description = "Included with System "
The users will use this to add items to the sales order as Free Goods but the revenue for the items is already embedded in the main item
How to configure this?
Also are there any additional updates required to allow the usage code to be used ?

Usage indicator is something else. Just go through F1 help and see for what purpose we can use this field. What you are looking for is free goods configuration. This has been discussed so many times. Search with thext free goods and see if you find something. If you have some other requirement then come again with more explanation.

Raise the PR through project with unknown item category "U"

HI,
In my business process, i have raised the PR's through the projects. at the time of material assignment we need to give the item category N or L .But at the time of material assignment to the activity,whether third party sale or local sale is not decide .it's only decide at the time of PO creation .is there any options or configuration process to assign the unknown item category at the material assignment the PROJECT?

Item category available is either N or L. I don't think there is any U available.
If you are referring account assignment in PR. for project it should Q, P or N. U is not for project.
What is the purpose of assigning / planning materials in your project during the initial stage?, is it for cost planning? if it is only for cost planning then follow what Virendra has recommended.

ITem category error while creating sales order through

I am trying to create a sales order through Bapi and in between im getting the below error.
' Item category TAM is not defined for non material items'.

speak to your SD functional person. The Error is pretty self explanatory; SAP is telling you that the item category for that order item is not permitted by your SD configuration.

Item Category not Defined Error message when deleting a batch item in Deliv

Hi,
I am trying with a Intercompany transfer . So after creating Interco. Transfer we have followed with a delivery document.
Now,we would like to delete the delivery document. For your info. Del. doc is still open. We haven't gone for Goods issue or anything else.
So,we tried removing the batch line item in batchsplit tab of the delivery and then deleting the delivery document.
But we get the error message "Item catgeory Not defined". but we could see entries for Item category Determination with the particular Delivery typeItem Category Group from Material MasterItem Usage+Item Category.
Why does system throw "Item catgeory Not defined". when there are entries for particular determination available .

Change Sales Order Item Category for a configurable material with config

My problem is related to Variant configuration. We have a requirement that depending on the ordered quantity and required replenishment lead time the business scenario for a configurable will get changed. that means some characteristics value selection will trigger the business scenario to be followed, whether it will be Make to Order, Buy to Order or 3rd Party drop-ship order. and the business process to be followed will be triggerd by the Item category to be selected in the sales order line item.
so , the requirement is to change the item category of the sales order line item with the carecteristiocs value selection in the variant configuration screen. As we know, when ever the material is getting entered in to the sales order line item, depending on the Item category group in the material master data the item category in the sales order line item used to get determined. after that when we are selecting the characteristics value set in the variant configurator, systen shoud chage the already determined item category of the sales order.
Hope I have clearly furnished my problem and requirement. Can anyone show me the way to fulfil my requirement. Any further clarification requirement to understand and resolve the issue is cordialy appriciable.

But as u mentioned the way to make the non editable field into editable one. But that will applicable in case of manual chage. But can it be applicable for changing the Item category by using Object dependency??
Actually in our scenario, for some of the item category that field in the sales order line item remains editable. we have tested with that also. Once the item category is getting determined, object dependenct is not able to modify the item category in the sales order line item.
I have explores something, if I include PSTYV field in VCSD_UPDATE, will it work? VCSD_UPDATE is the table that contains field of sales order can be modified with the usage of object dependency.
Please let me know ASAP.

Delete purchase requisition with item category Subcontracting

Hi all,
I need to delete a purchase requisition with item category = L (subcontracting).
I am using already BAPI_REQUISITION_DELETE to delete other purchase requisitions but for the subcontracting it doest not work. In fact in the BAPI code you can see:
Requisitions with dependent reservations won't be processed
IF xeban-pstyp EQ 3 AND xeban-rsnum NE space.
So I am looking for other BAPI but I don't find any to delete this kind of requisitions. Do you know any way to do that or I have to do a batch input?

I am using BAPI_PO_CHANGE to set EBAN_EBAKZ, however in most of the cases error thrown as "Instance PO Number of object type could not be changed".

I think your issue is screen layout of the PO
please go to
SPRO-MM-Purchasing-Purchase order-Define Screen Layout at Document Level
here you can select the ME21N and double click on it
on field selection of basic data you can make item category is optional than it will be avialable
if still you find the problesm than check your field selection of your document type and change that field selection as above mentioned.

Configuration - Item Category - How do I change the imcompletion procedure?

For an existing Sales Item Category, I want to change from one incompletion procedure to another existing incompletion procedure. However the field is greyed out in SPRO. How do I change this setting?
