Deleting podcast on touch resynching

So annoying! When you delete a podcast from the ipod touch, then connect and re-synch, it puts it back on. i was hoping that 3.0 would stop this, so Iwouldn't have to keep sending feedback. Ok rant switch is off, thanks

you turn ma switch on... by remembering this behavior.
after I have listen a podcast, I would like to be able to choose if I'll keep it or not.
Anyhow, what's the purpose of this delete option if it's only to delete a podcast until you sync again... I will still send feedback about this too...

Tom at the Genius Bar told me that Option Delete would work. It does not.
I had to upgrade to iTunes 11.1.(I26) because it is required with OS7 on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). I have tried shutting down iTunes, then shutting down the entire system. This is the first in many visits that the Genius Bar gave me a solution that did not work.
This is a big awkward computer locked to my desk. I would rather not unlock it and then carry it through a shopping center to the Genius Bar if i can avoid oit.
When I installed iTunes 11.1, I discovered that Ihad to resubscribe to virtually all of the podcasts that I had previously been subscribed to. That was a surprise.

    Hello Achates:
I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

  • 2.2 Issue - Deleted Podcasts Return On Power Up?

First, I want to say I love my Touch (1st Generation) especially since installing firmware 2.2.
The convenience of being able to download Podcasts via built in Wifi and then deleting via touch screen is so convenient.
One glitch however is that I have a few old Podcasts that I have listened to and have deleted via the Touch delete function, but when I power down the unit and power it back up, the deleted Podcasts return. Not all Podcasts, but only a couple of older ones that probably ended up on the Ipod via syncing with Itunes.
To remove these Podcasts permanently, do I have to remove them by deleting from Itunes and then syncing?
    Thanks
    Jeff

Okay, so I think problem solved. For the first time in weeks I synced my Ipod with Itunes and had deleted the offending Podcasts from iTunes before the sync and low and behold, the Podcasts that kept reappearing now appear to be gone for good.
So everyone should note, it seems that if you install a Podcast on your iPod via Itunes, it cannot be permanently deleted from your iPod by using the new to 2.2 onboard delete function, but must be removed from
The iTunes library and then the iPod synced to remove.

  • Can I delete podcast files from iTunes?

I am running iTunes11.2.2 on an iMac, OS X Lion. In older versions of iTunes I could use iTunes' Delete function to remove a podcast from the iTunes library; a dialog box would display confirming removal from iTunes, then a secondary dialog box would display asking if I wanted to keep the file or move it to the trash. This function is similar to the workflow that displays if you want to delete a song from the iTunes library.
Over the past several versions of iTunes I have found that I cannot delete podcast files from the iTunes interface. I can remove the podcast from iTunes, but no dialog displays asking me if I want to keep the file or move the file to the trash. I must now navigate to the file's home in Finder and manually delete it from there.
Does anyone know if this delete functionality was removed altogether? There may be a setting in iTunes that I am missing but I need help being pointed in the right direction. It is frustrating that Apple would seemingly take away this function for podcasts, yet leave it in place for other media types in the iTunes library.

  • Itunes won't delete podcasts that I've played on my ipod, only itunes

I have itunes setup to delete podcasts after its played and it works great. However, since I use my ipod more to play podcasts, I would also like Itunes to sync up with my ipod and delte podcasts that I've played on the ipod.
Does anyone know how to set this up?

Might be an authorization issue in iTunes. Try deauthorizing your computer through the Store menu at the top of iTunes and then authorizing it again. Once that is done try transferring purchases from the iPod Touch.

  • BUG: Deleted podcasts on iPhone, get re-copied when doing Sync...

on the iPhone, its possible to delete podcasts if you're done listening/viewing them...
however, iTunes will continue uploading the same podcast, over and over again until you delete it in iTunes...
    W-T-F !!
    *Apple sox @ Sync*

I don't believe that this is a bug but rather a design choice. You can only change syncing options from iTunes. However, being able to delete a podcast or movie from your Touch/iPhone allows you to free up space to add other things using from the iTunes Store when you are away from your computer. I think this is the way it was intended to work.
Whether or not you agree with the decision is another matter. Submit your feedback to Apple:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/
    Best of luck.

  • Cant delete podcasts

    Hi - anyone help.
I have searched on this and other forums, aparently the inability to delete podcasts seems to have appeared in recent months.
I have never had a problem in the past.
Lots of people seem to be logging the issue.
Im a bit narked off with it all, as ive never had a problem with any of my mac and ipod kit in the 12 years i have been using.
My ipod touch is unable to delete the podcasts when i tell it to in itunes from my iMac.
People have suggested on this and other forums to backup and then reset the ipod touch - im my opinion that is not a solution.
Does anyone have a real solution.
    Are Apple addressing the issue?
Im getting to the stage where the Ipad 3 i was going to buy next year wont be happening, as i just dont expect issues with Apple kit that you have to pay a large premium for.
Come on Apple - sort it out please?
    Regards
    Bob

  • A deleted podcast is still somewhere in itunes?  can't find it?

I thought I had deleted a particular podcast but I noticed that this one kept syncing to my ipod and showed up on the apple tv. When I went to the folder through finder I found this podcast was still on my system although I saw it nowhere in itunes. I deleted the file manually.
Now, when I sync my ipod, I receive the message that this particular podcast could not be found to be synced. I've done a search by name through itunes and can't find any reference to this now deleted podcast or why it's attempting to sync it.
I've repaired permissions just for kicks. I've re-booted for kicks. Nothing helps.
    I'm stumped. Any ideas?
    Thanks.

more info...I have a smart playlist that syncs certain podcasts that I've put a star next to. I did find a reference to this podcast in the smart playlist which means it is noted with a star. But, when I go to the podcast directory, it is nowhere to be found. I can't delete the reference in the smart playlist b/c it's a smart playlist.

  • Deleting podcasts from iTunes library AND iPod?!? HELP.

I have 61 podcasts on my iPod and in my iTunes library.
I didn't want them anymore, so I unsubscribed and deleted the podcasts from iTunes.
I synced to my iPod, assuming that the files would be automatically removed.
    But they weren't.
I've tried checking and unchecking "Sync only checked songs and videos" on the iPod device page.
I've tried checking "Sync all episodes of:.." and then not checking any podcasts.
It's not worked so far. My iTunes is up to date and everything..my iPod charged..
Im wondering HOW do you delete podcasts - or any other music, videos...etc - from your iPod and iTunes?
Please help! Reply soon, I'm in desperate need.
    Thanks.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
It appears that the mess resulted in the iPod seeing the computer/iTunes library as a new computer/iTunes library. If you sync to a new computer your iPod gets erased and the media in the iTunes library ends up on the iPod.

  • Cannot delete podcast on iPod

    Hello,
I need to add me into this AD, I cannot delete Podcast from my iPOD, using different computer and manually sync, deleted Podcast on my computer (all), but older Podcast still appear in my iPOD and even if I re-subscribe to the Podcast, the Podcast will not be visible in iTunes or even is able to be deleted. Please get a workaround done.
    KN

By accident (I have read the manual), and I have found a solution.
You've saved some Podcast on your iPod but these Podcast doen't appear in your iTunes Libary so you're not able to delete them from your iPod.
Just opoen the Folder Movies/Podcast on your iPOD
The Podcast will be shown on your iPod
Swipe with your finger from left to right or rigth to left over the podcast; you will see that your iPod will open the "Edit" menue were you're able to delete selected Podcast.
    Have fun.

  • Is there a way to delete podcasts on an iphone without having them reappear on every sync?

I want to delete podcasts from my iphone after I am done listening to them, which works like a charm. The problem is that every time I sync, it download them again! For some reason the Iphone and ITunes refuese to talk to one another to ackowledge that I have deleted a particular podcast and Itunes dumps it right back onto my phone.
It's like a vampire that keeps coming back.
Is there a nice simple (Apple should be good at that...) way to delete them once and for all? I looked for a "When I delete songs I really mean delete" checkbox but there is none.
Why would they allow you to delete something if it will just come back and clog up your memory on the next sync?

    joge2013.
    Same thing here with me!!
I like to have auto download setting on my itunes so i get the latest 'Harvard Business Review' podcast. I started getting into podcats about 6 months ago and think they're great!
I downloaded them all as there is some catching up to do!
I want the latest podcasts downloaded.
Podcasts that I have listened to partly or fully gone off my iphone! and not synced back on
Podcasts that I have chosen to delete off my iphone, not synced back on (some weeks they discuss a topic which really does not interest me in my field.)
..I dont want to manually tick them all either!
    Any help appreciated!
It seems to make perfect sense for me to manage these this way from my iphone (as a podcast is for listening on the go!), yet doesnt seem possible?

  • Deleted podcasts return when syncing with itunes

My podcasts sync perfectly from itunes to my ipad & iphone.  However, when i listen to an individual podcast or delete the entire subscription from either my ipad or iphone i have aproblem.  They are deleted from my device but when i next sync with my itunes on my pc, all the deleted podcasts or subscriptions are put back on my device.  I want them to be deleted from my Itunes not put back on my device.  Obviously i dont want them any more.  When I delete an app from my device, it is deleted from my itunes library for that device. I know it is still in itunes if i need it but itunes doesnt keep putting it back on my device.  How can I get podcasts to either act the same way as the apps do, or get itunes to actually delete the podcasts i have deleted from my device??

Are you using the "Podcasts" app on your device?  If so, then that app manages all your podcasts locally on your device.
If you aren't using the Podcasts app on your device, then your podcasts will be managed by iTunes, and updates downloaded to your device whenever your sync it with iTunes.  Deleting an episide on your device will temporarily get you space back on your device, which might be helpful temporarily in case you need the space for something.  The next time you sync, iTunes will repopulate any episides that are missing from your device, unless you've marked them as played already, or otherwise changed something in iTunes to prevent them from copying back to your device again (delete them, take them out of whatever smart playlist you are using to send podcasts to your device, etc.).

  • How to recover deleted podcasts from trashcan to iTunes?

    Hi,
I deleted several video podcasts, which are now sitting in the Trashcan, and I would like to 'undelete' them back into iTunes so I can sync them back to my iPod. How do I do this? Thanks. David.

Draging from the trashcan to the podcast icon doesn't work, nor does opening the podcast icon and attempting to drag a deleted podcast into the particular podcast folder within the iTunes library. Hmm, I may finally have an excuse to visit the local Genius Bar.

  • Deleted podcasts won't go to the recycling bin

I'm running the newest version of iTunes, freshly installed, in Windows 7. Most of my podcasts come from a backup that I dragged and dropped into my iTunes folder. I've done this before without any issues. However, now whenever I try to delete a podcast that I haven't recently downloaded, it will give me a dialog stating that the podcast won't sync if I delete it, and then the buttons "Delete Podcast" and "Cancel" Rather than the "Keep File" "Remove to Recycling Bin" and "Cancel" that I'm used to. Deleting does not send the podcast into the recycling bin as it is supposed to and as it used to, however; it instead keeps the podcast in the same file and removes the instance from iTunes. I don't want to have to delete every file twice. Selecting all files and clicking on Allow Auto Delete changed nothing. Repairing my install of iTunes did not change anything. It seems as though all other instances of this issue are many years old. Assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.

  • ATV sync keeps looking for long-deleted podcasts

Everytime I sync my aTV with my iTunes library, it attempts to sync long-deleted podcasts, 18 of them from 2007. I then get the inevitable "problem" pop-up regarding how such-and-such file was not sync'ed because it could not be found.
My iTunes currently deletes old podcasts automatically, i.e. the preferences are set to keep the 10 most recent. And I don't get the above sync problem with any of my iPods. So I am at a loss as to why this is happening now with (and only with) my aTV.
    Thanks

i have the same problem, even telling me that it cant sync from long deleted podcast threads... so annoying.
