Deleting Previous Recipients from List

I cannot delete unwanted addresses from my Previous Recipient List. None of the addresses show a "Last Used" date past 2008. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it?

Make sure there are no addresses in the Previous Recipients that you need, then quit Address Book and Mail and delete ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr

It shows all of the "Previous Recipients" in a long list. You can edit the list by selecting multiple names or all names with the command key and delete. Help.

Launch the Mail app on your Mac and go to Window>Previous Recipients.

I apologize. I didn't see that you hadn't updated to iOS 7. That's an iOS 7 option. With iOS 6, you'd need to restore the device as new. Note that that will result in your phone being updated to iOS 7.
    Best of luck.

  • Import Previous Recipients from another Mac?

I need to import the previous recipients from another Mac. The importing OS is Tiger 10.4.
I have figured out how to import Address Book data which was exported from a Windows machine as a .csv file. That worked beautifully.
But I don't see any means of importing previous recipients which it seems is only a simple list of names and email addresses.
Anyone know how to do it?
    Thanks.

Just answered my own question. Turns out the import of the Address Book data also imported supplied the Previous Recipient function with the data it needed.
You guys are great! Just ask the question and it works before getting an answer!

  • How can I delete previous sites from my hard disc?

I am working my way through Adobe Muse - Classroom in a book.
I recently asked the forum about an unlabeled 'preparation page' and finally located it at the end of the folder of lessons. My thanks for that assistance.
I have now got as far as Lightbox and Widgets. Now I would like to wipe the board clean and start afresh.
Either because of differences between the book or updates to Muse and my Welcome dialogue box has eight attempts that I would like to remove.
How do I remove / delete previous sites from the Welcome dialogue box or should that read Hard Disc?
    Help much appreciated.

    /Dear Sanjit,
I'm sorry but that trick doesn't work on my copy of Muse. If I click on
any of the files names on the welcome window it opens as a Muse file and
if I right click nothing happens at all. My Muse is up to date as I get
it from Adobe Cloud/./Adobe Air has just now updated/.
      Any ideas?

  • Delete Recent Recipients From Mail iOS 7

Is there a way to delete recent recipients from Mail in ios 7?
I see that some can be deleted pretty simply if they have the "i" in the circle next to them, but that only applies in about 25% of the ones that pop up in my mail app.
I've also seen advice that I restore the phone as a new iphone...NOT what I want to do..would loose too much other in app stuff etc.
Maybe there is a "cleaner" app or script that can be run???
    Thanks

Interesting answer. I did that since I'm having the same problem but I can only delete individual songs. Is there any way to delete an artist all together ?
No, iOS7 with iTunes Match only allows deleting individual songs, one at a time.  If you need to be able to remove an entire album, artist, genre, etc., you should turn off iTunes Match on your phone and go back to syncing it with your computer.

  • Previous Recipients from Mail Account Not on Mac?

I have two email accounts on my iPhone but only one on my Mac.  On my Mac, I see previous recipients from contacts I've emailed on my iPhone from the account that is not on my Mac.  I also do not sync my iPhone to my Mac.  Why does this happen and how can I disable it?  The account I am getting the previous recipients from doesn't exist whatsoever on my Mac and the two accounts have no connections with each other.

One is iCloud which is on the Mac and then both the iCloud and Exchange are in my phone.

  • How to delete previous invitee from apple iCal invite list? When inviting "Joe" an old Email address shows up. This person is literally dead! (may he rest peacefull) and I can't find his Email address to delete anywhere. Not in my address book

When sending calendar invite to "invitee" an old address appears. This guy is literally dead (may he rest in peace) and has same first name as person I send to all the time. So "dead" guy always pops up. Can't find his address to delete anywhere -- not in previous recipients, not in my address book, does not "auto-populate" when I try to send an Email. Still shows up everytime I want to send iCal invite. Spooky. Help me delete this guy from my iCal invitee options so he can truly rest in peace. Thanks!

  • I want to delete previous recipients on ipad2..??? I can't believe that's NOT possible

I find it hard to believe that we can't delete previous mail recipients on the ipad 2 just like we are able on the MBP.       Also, why not be able to email to groups that are in my address book.    Come on Apple these are really needed.

Update - I discovered that the entire list of bookmarks can be accessed in the Organize Bookmarks window by clicking on the icon for Bookmarks Menu.
This seem like odd interface behaviour to me.
All the other software I use follows the pattern that an icon with a triangle to the left, which you click on to expand the menu tree downwards, shows the entire contents of the category when you click on the triangle. In other words, you don't get a different response by clicking on the icon from what you get by clicking on the triangle.
It also seems odd to me that when an unsorted bookmarks folder is automatically provided that unsorted bookmarks would not be placed there by default.
Anyway, by getting the list of bookmarks displayed this way I was able to simply right-click on items in the list and delete them, as I thought I should be able to do. Problem solved. Organize Bookmarks interface found to be somewhat unintuitive.

  • Cannot delete previous recipient from mail

I can select the previous recipients that I wish to delete, I then select "remove from list", the email address clears from the list, but if I exit from Mail, the reopen Mail, then examine the previous recipient list the deleted address is there again. Any thoughts?
PS I have also tried deleting the address when I create a new message and then select the address I wish to delete, click on the down arrow at the end of the address and select remove.

I had already looked at that, but unfortunately it was not the answer. Although on that same note in the Previous Recipients list some of the entries have a shaded out symbol beside them (left column) that looks like an address card. I was wondering if there is a plist file that I should try to delete, (I am not sure as to were I should look for it though)

  • How do I delete previous searches from Google?

Whenever I hit the down arrow key on the keyboard when I am typing in the search field for Google (or any other search engine website), it brings up a list of all my previous searches...how do I get rid of these?

Sorry, I guess I was not specific enough. I was not referring to the Safari browser, but instead the actual Google website. When you type on the website's search field, you can bring up the previous searches that you made while on the website. The search field in the Safari browser window and the Google website do not share the same previous searches.
I looked under Preferences for Safari but I couldn't find anything that deals with deleting previous searches. In Windows Vista, all I needed to do was press the delete key (which is where the forward delete key is located on the Mac keyboards) or I could delete all of these previous searches from all websites by going through Explorer

  • Delete previous recipients

I have spent quite a while searching for this but I still can't find a satisfactory solution.  I want to be able to delete from the iPhone mail app the previous recipients of email so that I only ever get suggestions from my contacts.  It would seem a fairly basic feature that the mail app should only suggest people from my contacts rather than from anyone who has ever been emailed from my phone!
    Cheers
    Ed

That is not really an answer though, is it, to be fair.
    It is the answer.
There is no other way to do this.
It is not the answer that you want or wish it to be, but it remains the answer.

  • Moving Previous Recipients from old Mac to new Mac??

I set up my new MacBook using the Mac Set Up Assistant copying all the information from my MacBookPro. It looks like 95%+ was transferred perfectly. Both Mac's use OS X 10.5.4.
One thing that did not transfer was the Previous Recipients in Mail. All the accounts transferred, all the old mail transferred and even the SPAM filters transferred. But not the Previous Recipient list.
I have a large number of Previous Recipients that I don't really want to have Address Book vCards for, but I do want to be able to search for their e-mail addresses when I need to send something out.
    Does any one know:
1- Where the Previous Recipient file is kept?
2- Is there any special concerns in transferring that file to my new MacBook?
    Thanks
    Tim

that file should have transfered. that list is kept in homdirectory/library/application support/address book/MailRecents-v4.abcdmr. If it didn't transfer for some reason, transfer it by hand. there are no problems with doing that.

  • Previous recipients - from old computer?

Is it possible to copy the 'Previous Recipients' file from my old G$ running OS 10.3.9 to my new Mac Mini with Leopard?
I am always being asked by my Boss to send an e-mail to 'that person who sent us one last year'. Since I probably never put that person into my Address Book, I rely a lot on the Previous Recipients list to fill in the blanks.
Please, someone, save my sanity (and save me from clumping my Boss next time he asks me that) - tell me how!
    Thanks!

If the old machine is still available, why not move the ones you want from Previous Recipients to Address Book, gather them into a group, and export the group for to import on the new machine?

  • Moving previous recipients from OS 10.5.8 to 10.8.2

How do I move previous recipients file from OS 10.5.8 to 10.8.2?

    Try this:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc.
Booting From An OS X Installer Disc
    1. Insert OS X Installer Disc into the optical drive.
      2. Restart the computer.
      3. Immediately after the chime press and hold down the "C" key.
      4. Release the key when the spinning gear below the dark gray Apple
          logo appears.
      5. Wait for installer to finish loading.
After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Now quit Disk Utility and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
