Deleting rolls & starting over

I was playing with iPhoto did a few trial imports and verified it will work for my application.
I'm going to be scanning thousands of old slides and negatives and want to use iPhoto as a cataloging system.
Now I want to start new with a complete clean fresh library. I deleted all the pictures out of the library but there are still 5 rolls listed that were my trial imports. I want to delete them completely and start over. How do I do that? Selecting one and deleting does not work.
I already tried deleting the library file and asking iPhoto to create a new one but the old rolls come back anyway. I also deleted my preferences list but that also didn't work. Tried re-installing the SW but it did an upgrade, no option to do a clean install, and the rolls are still there.
How to I kill everything in iPhoto and start with a clean slate?

Oogie M
Put the iPhoto Library Folder (it's in your Pictures Folder) into the trash.
Launch iPhoto. It will create a new clean library. You can also create a new library by holding the option (or alt) key when launching.

Tip: Make sure you scan these with an RGB colour profile. iPhoto does not support greyscale or CYMK.

If you are a resident of the U.S., have iTunes 10.3 or later, you can re download purchases for free.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Photo App Displays Unorganized Pictures (Camera Roll starts over at 1,000)

I finally bought an iPhone 4.
    =)
BUT, i backed up my 3GS and restored from back up to my iPhone 4.
When i first opened my pics app it said rebuilding so i let it rebuild.
Now my Camera Roll starts over at 1,000.
SO now every pic i had past 1,000 from my 3gs is displayed at the top instead in the order they were taken.

Just so you know, the camera roll is a temp place for photos. While yes part of a backup, they are not put in a place for you to really access or store them.
You really should be taking pictures off the camera roll often and keeping it as clear as possible. It is a separate partition in a way from the rest of the OS and shows up as a digital camera to your computer and why you can access them directly outside of iTunes.
Photos should be taken off by you then if you want them on the phone you can sync them back to their own albums. One, this ensures you have real copies on your computer (that you have your own backup and storage practice) as well as makes it so it doesn't have to waste time trying to back them up each time since you have them on your computer.
There is also a limit to how much the Camera Roll can hold as I mentioned it is a separate partition sort of and not meant for long term storage.

  • How to delete and start over?

    Greetings!
I have several Shockwave folders scattered throughout my Mac G5 (OS 4.11).
I have to use a web site that required Shockwave 10.  I have ver's 10 and 11 on my computer.  But after the Shockwave player (I don't know which one) loads both Safari and Firefox both freeze.
    I have trashed the Shockwave 8 folder leaving me with ver's 10 & 11
I have trashed the preferences folders as per the help files posted here.
    Still it freezes
What I'd like to do is start over and trash everyting of Shockware and install Shockwave 10 fresh.
Could sombody please tell me how I can wipe everything off the computer so I ca do a fresh install?
I did a search for "Shockwave" and I call see where all the files are that begin with "Shockwave" but I don't know if dragging everything to the trash is going to make things worse.
I have a Shockwave uninstaller, but I believe that is only going to uninstall Ver 11.  Will that software uninstall everyting Shockwave on my computer.
Thanks to anyone out there who can help.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and delete the Firefox program folder to remove any leftover files.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 9.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data because all profile folders will be removed.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
When you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.

  • HT4759 I have over 7000 emails is there a way to do an massive email delete to start over

I have over 7000 emails in my in box dating back to 2003 how can I get rid of all the emails at once?

On iPad, there is no mass delete option for mail.  The way to do this is to use the mail server on your computer and delete the mail there.

  • TC needs to delete backupn& start over

I have gotten this message too many times. Time Machine tells me that because of stability reasons, my backups will be deleted and a new backup created. What is going on and can I prevent this form happening? It takes days to creat a new backup (350 + GB). I have a newer Airport Extreme and a 2 TB external hard drive connected via USB. This configuration has worked well in the past.

It may have worked in the past, but it's "iffy" and not supported by Apple. What you're seeing is exactly what happens.  See

(sorry about the problem with the link; the new version of the forum is, well, not working properly.  Seems to work now.)

I downloaded ios7 and now some apps won't open even after resetting don't won't to lose my info by deleting and starting over.. What to do?

    Try close all inactive apps
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe up on the screenshot of the app you want to exit.
    3. The app will fly off the screen

  • How do I remove all of the photos that have been imported and start over. The photo did not import into folders by date

When I imported the photos, I thought I had it set to import them into folders but it didn't happen. I have one file of 10000+ photos in the same folder. I would likede to start over, remove what has been imported (not delete) and start over importing them into folder that I choose rather than all in one.

    Okay - but after that..
I followed the instruction in the tutorial and did the following:
    Click Import (Existing Files)
Select source - (pictures appear in grid)
    include sub-folders if appropriate
    Select “add”
File Handling - Changed build preview to standard
Apply During Import - Nothing added
    Add keywords - Added keywords
Import (Tutorial says to click “Import” but import is greyed out and not available)
What am I missing? The destination information does not appear. I tried selecting that before I clicked "Import" but that didn't help..

I am trying to sign into iCloud and I am informed "THIS APPLE ID IS VALID BUT IS NOT AN iCLOUD ACCOUNT". Which makes no sense to me. But in the mean time I have purchased some songs and I can't get them on my ipod nana because I can't sign in. Can I delete this ID and start over?????

OK, I just click the "cloud" in my itunes account and re-synced my ipod nano and I now have the songs I bought, this was really a stupid venture. But I am now enjoying my purchases on my ipod. SORRY TO HAVE TAKEN UP THE SPACE

How do I retain my apps after I change my apple ID? Right now I'm unable to update any of the apps with the old apple ID. I get an error message about an invalid id or Password. If I delete my appos and start over, I may lose the apps that I purchased (like the ones for $5 +....

Apps are always tied to the ID that was used to purchase them originally. Did you try entering your old password and see if that works?
If you need to sign out of your old account go to Settings>Store>Tap on your ID and sign out. Sign in with the new one.
you can also access your ID in the featured tab of the App Store. Swipe to the bottom of the screen and you will find it there as well.

  • The spinning "wheel of death" does NOT go away! I've loaded too much stuff on my computer (including the entire Adobe CS6 software) and I want to delete everything on my macbook pro and start over? How do I clean everything up without buying MacKeeper?

I use my MacBook Pro (Late 2009) for EVERYTHING and I have loaded so many apps, even doubles of some, I think!   My computer is running really SLOW and I think it is because I don't have enough memory.
I just installed the new Adobe CS6 and that was a BIG mistake.  The spinnning wheel of death doesn't stop! I wish I could load that program on my computer so I can use it "on the go", but I can't stand the spinning wheel!
I want to clean up my computer and get rid of EVERYTHING on it!!     Then, re-install the factory settings to run Lion.  I believe this will make the wheel stop spinning.
However, how do I make sure that all of the extra stuff that is attached to the app, ( including all the cache') is deleted too?   I don't want to have to buy MacKeeper!
I am hoping the computer wizards or the apple team can give me an answer on how to clean up everything and start over.  I have saved everything on my desktop mac.

Thank you so much for the help!  I had heard bad things about MacKeeper and I don't want to screw up my macbook  any more than it already is!  I will do as you suggest.  Do you believe this is the best solution for the problem I described?
Should I load my Adobe Creative Suite 6 (in the cloud version) on an external hard drive?
I am so tired of this spinning wheel....should I avoid putting the CS6 on my macbook pro altogether?
I have it on my desk top mac, but wanted to be able to take the photo editing with me when I am "out and about".  I know I should probably buy the ipad, which would transport much easier, but even the ipad probably doesn't have the capacity to hold all the Adobe CS6 apps, correct?

  • How do I delete my itunes account and start over?

I've had it with trying to get help with removing apps from my previous purchases.  My son downloaded some questionable apps and now they show up on all my family's devices under "Purchase".  I would like to just abandon the old account and create a new account to start over.
I deleted the itunes install on my PC and reinstalled thinking I could then set up a new itunes account, but then my previous account autopopulated my itunes library.  How do I stop this so I can set up another account?

You cannot remove apps from previous purchases.
All purchases will always be tied to the accoutn from which they were purchased.  All apps will always have to be updated using the account from which they were purchased. You would need to authorize your computers for the old account as well.
I would not start a new account.  This generally causes problems.
    Hide the apps.

  • How can I delete the catalog in PSE 3.0 and start over?

I'm running PSE 3.0 on Windows XP Home Edition. I'd like to delete the catalog and start over. The database seems to have become corrupted and I'd like to start over.

    1. To delete the catalog, go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\Catalogs. Application data is a hidden folder which requires that you enable the setting in Windows that displays hidden files. For this, in Windows Explorer, go to Tools>folder options>View tab>check "show hidden files & folders">apply.
2.To make a new catalog, go to Files>Catalog>new.
