Deleting Saved Messages?

My iPhone says I have 11GB of saved messages when I go to "Usage."  When I delete all of my text messages, I still have 11GB of saved messages can someone help me get rid of these messages for good so I can have 11 free GB??

I had a similar issue with my iphone 4 a few years back. I had to do a system retore from my itunes on my computer to fix. There is probably a better solution but thats what worked for me

  • HT4528 How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s

How do you delete 'SAVED MESSAGES' on iPhone 5s?  It's taking up about 10GB of 32 GB capacity.

After much searching on the web and reading many (sometimes amusing) posts on this topic here is what I have found.
In Settings>General>Usage my saved mesages were using 3.2Gb and no apparently immediate way of deleting them.
However as the good book says "seek and ye shall find".
SO this is where I went:
Settings>iCloud>Account> then scroll down to ADVANCED and select Mail; again scroll down to the bottom and select Advanced and yet again scroll to the bottom (well at least to DELETED MESSAGES) and tap on the line called Remove.
Here at last you will find a setting that enables you to select the period after which iOS will remove your deleted messages.
The shortest period is one day so you will haev to wait 24 hours to finally have that memory back but it should work and is a nice feature in iOS although it is well burried!!

  • Is there any way to delete saved messages from IPhone 4 memory?

Is there any way to delete saved messages from IPhone 4 memory?

Firstly you DO NOT have to do a factory reset / wipe device, it is simply not required to get the space back!!
Mine had 3GB and I just got rid of it all, here is how:
    Make a backup in iTunes
    open iBackupBot (Google it)
    Go to the relevant backup
Click on Multimedia File Manager and click on the other Multimedia files tab
Sort by filename by clicking the Filename tab
Find MediaDomain/Library/SMS/Attachments and highlight all of them, then press delete.  You can also click to export to a folder of your choice, if you want to save them that is.
    Then go to System Files>MediaDomain>Library>SMS>Attachments
They will be all listed here, highlight them all and press delete
Then just restore that backup using iTunes!
Tadaa! Space recovered, your messages are still there but without the attachments!
P.S You may want to make two backups in case you get any of the above steps wrong, but it is simple to follow the above and not do anything wrong!

  • How can I delete saved messages from my iphone 5s to be able to update it?

I have needed to update my Iphone 5s from the past 2 updates but it says that I have 4.2 GB of saved messages.  I don't know where to go to delete them.  I delete regular messages from my phone daily so I'm not sure what is being saved and where.
    Thanks!

You would need to set up your mail account as a POP account instead of IMAP.
I'm not sure if Hotmail/msn offers that -

  • I have cleared all apps from my ipad.  How do yo get rid of calendars and delete saved messages which is taking all mt storagw

I have cleared all apps but still not able to download a rented movie.  The only spot where I have data stored is in saved messages andd calendars.  Cannot find the saved messages and cannot delete calendars. Any other suggestions because this was a very stupid purchase if you only have enough storage for the standard apps.

Go to: Settings>General>Usage>and see what is eating up all of your memory. After you find what is eating up most of your memory just delete it thru:Settings>General>Usage. I would not think your calendars and messages would take up all of your memory.

  • Any idea when the delete (Saved) messages issue will be fixed?

We have a few iPhone 5's in the family and after a year they all have the emotional baggage of several GB's a piece of (Saved) messages.
Nick25's sermon does not appear to work as the latest version of iBackupBot will not allow one to actually delete things, just look at them.
This is not acceptable, and between unresolved issues like the lock button, the charging cable, and the like, the fruit is beginning to lose its appeal quite quickly. I love my 5 and my kids like theirs, but we're not talking about a trivial bug here.
Incidentally, I tried another iBackupBot clone and it too will not delete with the free version. The last one (ifunbox?) said it would but let's just say I did not get the warm fuzzies from that app.

Nope - no one here has any idea when Apple will do anything
You can request it via the iPhoto menu ==> provide iPhoto feedback command
As a wild guess I would expect the A77 support sooner rather than later since it appears to be a great camera (I have the a55 and love it) and Apple has always been pretty quick to support new Sony RAW
here is the latest list of RAW support for Lion 7.2 - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757

  • Deleting Saved Message

I have 3.2gb of saved messages. I currently have no messages. I updated all required updates from Apple and need the space back on my phone. I can not figure out how to delete the saved messages. I have tried everything. Help!

Thank you!  I ended up taking my desktop in as well!  Had to erase my phone and get it back to original setting.
In addition I backed up only thru icloud as the "bug" it appears is in my itunes back up!  Crazy went from messages using 4.5 GB to 8.4MB!  Freed up a ton of storage.  Painful yes, but well worth it!  Glad I did this over the weekend.  Clearly there is an issue that apple needs to address!

  • HT1689 delete saved messages iphone 4s

I show 18 gbs of saved messages.  I've deleted most pics and videos.  Says I don't have enough storage to backup.  I've deleted most apps.  What's going on?
    Thanks

Have you tried a reset? Hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until you see the apple, then let go.

  • Delete Saved messages when messages are already deleted.

I deleted all conversations, but yet when you go to Settings, General, and then usage I still see 2.8Gb of "saved Messages" in memory used.  How?  Thanks for any help.

Apparently after more digging, I am not the only one with this issue.  There is NO WAY to delete these if you are restoring from past points.  The only way to do so is to start from scratch and loose everything or manually put in after deleting the back up.  This is nonsense on Apple's part.
Firstly you DO NOT have to do a factory reset / wipe device, it is simply not required to get the space back!!

Backup your device in iTunes and then to iCloud
Go to Settings>iCloud and toggle Documents & Data to OFF
Then do a 2nd backup to iTunes and iCloud
Then restore the device from iCloud and the message attachments should be gone, turn Documents & Data back on again in the settings

  • Delete saved messages

I am so frustrated. I have tried all of the things I have found on the internet except downloading a non-apple software to get rid of the (Saved) messages on my iphone. Ready to jump ship on apple. I have been with them sinde the Lisa and now, I am having issues that you would expect from a PC. Any ideas?

Where are the saved messages appearing at?

  • OVI deleted saved messages 6300

Ok, my problem is simple. I updated the firmware of my 6300 using OVI suite.
I allowed it to do a full backup, and restore and everything seemed great.
hHowever, all my saved messages are gone All the folders and files and everything. Tis is totally f@~%ed (excuse my language) as I need the saved messages, that is why they are SAVED!!!
How can I get them back on my phone and in the original folders? A simnple option would be great...
I have backup of my phone on the computer, however when I try to sync the messages with my phone it doesnt copy them across. Basically the messages are on my comp and NOT in my phone where they should be.
Dirty old firmware updates, should've left the phone alone methinks...
Any help would be much appreciated thank you
    jezza

Good to know.. you managed to sort out most of the issues... As you mention.. the Tone came with the phone..means it was a part of the firmware and not with the upgrade version of it... thats why you do not get it.. Unless someone is able to send it to you ..or you find it somewhere to download from thru' Google, it seems you will not get it back...

  • I am a bit ignorant when it comes to my iphone 4. Can somone help me delete saved text messages? I have tried to delete them one by one in my messages, but it still says that I have 2.3 saved messages. I just want to free up space  on my phone.

Dearest Ones in the Apple Tech World,
I need to free up space in my storage, and I can do that if I can figure out how to delete my saved text messages. Anyone out there know how in the world I can accomplish this?
I have tried to delete them one by one, but it still says that I have 2.3 GB of saved messages!
I am not the saviest when it comes to operating this phone. Any help would be appreciated!
    THANKS SO MUCH!

There's no way to delete all message threads at one go. You can however do one contact thread at a time.
In Messages app where you see a list of messages from different contacts,  tap Edit (top left), tap the red (on the left), then tap the red Delete button on the right.

I deleted all my messages, yet in my usage it still says saved messages? How do I permanently delete them to free up space? Thanks!

If you've already deleted your messages and it's saying this, that means you have corrupted data.
Sync your contacts & calendars to iCloud, copy your photos to your computer, and then restore the phone & set it up as new (don't restore your backup). Thats' teh only way to get rid of this.

  • I deleted a message from iCloud mail. It says it is saved on the server for 1 month. Can I get to it?

I deleted a message from my iCloud mail (and emptied the trash) on my MAC that I didn't mean to. In my iCloud IMAP settings it says that deleted mail will be saved on the server for 1 month. How do I get to it?

Go to http://www.icloud.com and go to the Mail page there. Open the Trash mailbox. If the message is there you can move it out. If it isn't, then I'm afraid it's gone. The 'delete after x days' setting in the Mail application is over-ridden by the automatic deletion in the iCloud server - I have an idea that's 7 days but I'm not sure.
