Deleting Shared Folders with SirAdmin

I have a bunch of weird Shared Folders in /var/spool/imap:
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^-^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-+^_-^-spiking21
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^_-abbessesh
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^_-abductinggr902
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^_-admonitionsj2
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^_-airmenc1
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^_-alanfb15
drwx------ 5 _cyrus mail 170 May 15 2008 ^_-alcoholismm
I am trying to use SirAdmin to delete them, but I always get Permission Denied when I do that.
I am using my admin user to login to the server with SirAdmin.
How can I get rid of these folders?
Ivan

Don't use your normal admin user for this - create a "siradmin" user (specific name not important). I cannot remember though why this was the advice - so maybe redundant now.
Add that admin to /etc/imapd.conf so that 'admins' line reads like...
admins: cyrusimap siradmin
After logging into SirAdmin, select the shared folder and add an ACL for the siradmin user, with ALL permissions. Then delete the folder. You have to give the user delete permissions before being able to delete it, strange but true

  • Sharing folders with Samba in Mavericks

    Hi,
I've spent the whole afternoon trying to access some shared folders of my MacBook Pro from a machine running Ubuntu 12.04 using samba. is it possible? I read AFP is deprecated and SMB2 is going to be the standard protocol. I also read SMB2 is getting some compatiblities problems because it is unstable so far, and that a possible workaround is to force smbd to use the old SMB1.  I have been succeed connecting from a Windows PC to the MacBook Pro using both protocols: SMB and AFP, but with a Ubuntu PC only with the second option. Again, is it possible to access my shared mac's resource using SMB? if AFP is pretended to disappear, how I will access my folders from a linux PC?
    Thanks

Yes - the ability to share folders will be coming in a future release.  Stay tuned!

  • Can't see shared folders with smbnetfs

    Hi!
I'm having trouble with smbnetfs. i installed it successfully, but the folder where the shares should be mounted is always empty
I can mount folders with smbmount and there are no problems but i would like to be able to see all the shared folders...
    can somebody help me?
    thanks!

Just to dig in deeper with this. I'm having a similar problem (perhaps the same) as described above.
I'm using smbnetfs to mount a folder in my home directory to be my network neighbourhood. When I open it in pcmanfm I can see the work groups, and upon opening a workgroup it'll show nothing more. But in fact, when you open the terminal and do a ls -a you'll notice there are in fact folders corresponding to your computers in that workgroup. Browsing any further works flawlessly.
It's however a minor annoyance that pcmanfm doesn't seem to show them (you can however add a slash to your navigation bar and they'll show up there, rather weird). Has anyone found a way to solve that?

  • Problem accessing shared folders with SMB from a Windows machine

When I reboot my Macmini, I cant access the shared folders from any Windows machine. On the Windows machine, I'm being prompted for my password, but event re-entering my password does help to get access.
The workaround I found is to go to the MacOSX System Preferences, Sharing, File Sharing, Options, and to uncheck and re-check the checkbox Share file and folders using SMB (Windows). Then I can access again the shared forders from a Windows machine and I'm not re-prompted for my password.
This is quite trooblesome to do that everytime I reboot my Mac. Is anybody experiencing the same pb? Any idea to fix it?
Also, since Lion, I'm experiencing some connection interruption, especially when copying big files from my Mac to a Windows machine.

Yes that is basically the only workaround for this problem. By chance do you have a SSD installed in the Mini?
I had this problem on my MBP when I had a SSD installed. Problem goes away with the original drive or a Seagate XT series drive.
If you don't have a SSD installed the only other option is to Wipe the drive and reinstall and test (Make a TM backup first so you can restore if the problem continues with the clean Re-Install).

  • GPP Delete policy not working on Windows Server 2008 R2 RDS when deleting shared printers with status access denied.

    Hi!
I Have one AD Security group for each shared printer, I have one GPP that map the printer if the user is in the security group that belong to the printer. And one GPP to delete the printer if the user is NOT member of the security group. The security group
is also applied in “Security” tab on the printsrv with PRINT rights  and “everyone” is removed. This works 100 % on Windows 7 clients and Windows 2003 Terminal Servers. But on Windows 2008 R2 RDS this dont work. The Delete Policy will not delete the shared
printer. No warning in any logs, and the gpresult shows that the gpo setting applyed sucessfully. The only way I can make the Delete policy work is if i give the user print rights on the printer on the printsrv. Looks like for the policy to work on 2008
R2 the user must have print rights on the printer object on the printserver. The GPP Delete Policy will not delete printers that have status : access denied. Anyone else had this problem?

    Hi,
Based on your description, it seems that we need to give users appropriate permissions, for the error
Access is denied is more or less related to permissions.
However, we can avoid deploying the GPP printer delete policy. As far as I know, we can use Item-Lvel Targeting of GPP to push the shared printers
to the targeted users or groups.
Regarding ILT, the following articles can be referred to for more information.

  • Problem: Sharing Folders with iMac and winXP

We have been running a small workgroup sharing so far two winxp machines over a wifi-modem-router-switch. The two pc share folders without problem.
I have now proudly made the switch over to using Apple iMac. Whilst the iMac experience is fantastic, getting to share the iMac with the rest of the winXP is turning into a nightmare.
I have spent 45 minutes with the tech support team of my ISP router supplier (ISP:Club-Internet - Router :AH4021/Tecom AH4222)
Every check & settings turned out to be fine, but they were unable to diagnose the problem.
I spent 3 sessions and over 1 hour (without counting time waiting over the phone) with the Apple support team, and whilst they were very friendly, they were unable to diagnose the problem.
I cannot ping the iMac from the xp machine, but I am told there is hope though, as i can ping ok my xp machine from iMac.
    All firewalls have been removed.
File n window sharing set on all machines.
DHCP manually setup assigning fix IP/DNS etc..
Same username on all machines, with unique machine name
Is there anybody who could help? Help!

Just hanged up from Apple tech support France, and this time, spoke to another friendly AND helpful support assistant named Simon.
Simon got me straight into the Finder>Go>Connect to Server
Type into your Server Address window : smb://and here your pc ip address you want to get to
    example: smb://192.168.1.2
Hit Enter key, and your pc should appear
    Thank you Simon!
Also, watch out for port 80 being hugged by apps like Skype...it might interfer
AND any port being specified into your NAT configuration in your router might confused the search.
    Voila!

  • Sharing Folders with PCs on a Network

Hi all. I'm trying to share my music folder with my roommates who are all on the same wireless network. I've figured out how to share the public folder with them, but I want to share a folder that is on a seperate hard drive that doesn't have the OS installed on it. Whats the simple sollution here??? Thanks for any help!

Get your roomates to download iTunes
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/
then then goto your itunes preferences and turn on music sharing.
Then your roomates will be able to access your itunes music library from their itunes.
Otherwise to share folders from your mac to pc users the best way to do it is using sharepoints

  • OneDrive business - sharing folders with users that dont have onedrive licenses.

So I want to try to accomplish something on the cheap. I work for a small company with a about 40 user mailboxes using Office 365 hosted exchange E1. About 15 of those users primarily work on the road as field techs doing service work at customer locations.
    What I want to do:
Add 1 license of one drive for business to the admin user of the organization.Create folders in the OneDrive.
    Create user groups in O365.
Add users without One Drive for business licenses / drives to the user groups.Share the Folders in OneDrive account with the O365 user groups.Questions:First of all does this violate any licensing? (If so might as well stop reading here, everything else is a moot point),I would assume it doesn't though - I could share files to other people like customers who are unlicensed by generating links and sending the link via email, so why...

As for your request to share from a Desktop App, I admit that's a limitation so far. Since Microsoft will always improve its products to make them more powerful and easier to use, let's see what will happen in the future.

  • Sharing folders with S-users

    Dear Colleagues
I evaluate a lot of documents from partners and need to know how can I share a folder with a partner that has s-user and a passport installed. Until today I am facing a lot of problems trying to do that.
    Thanks, Jorge

    Hi Jorge,
the combination of S-User and a passport seems to create some problems. What you can do to share documents with the s-user is to create a to create a Share in Mobile Documents and add the user with their email adress as member. If the S-User belongs to the email adress you enter they just can login with their S-User and password. If not they need to register at the SCN with the email adress you used.
I hope that helps to solve your problem.
    Best regards
    Alex

  • New to Mac - File sharing issue with windows PC?

    Good day
I have a win7 pc with all my movies storred on.  I shared the folder on the network, and can access the folder from my windows pc and my MacMini.
The problem is that my MacMini does not pic up all the files/folders on the shared folder.  I would guess it only picks up about 80% of the files/folders.  When I connect to the shared folder from the windows 7 pc it picks up everything.
    More info:
    Win7 Home (all updates done)
3tb drive (not sure what you call it, but it was formated with NTFS guid table)
Full read Write share enabled to everyone
    MacMini Latest hardware and OSX.
Shared folder shows in shared part of finder.
Already did a restart of both PC and Mac
Already did a clean-up on mac.
The mac connects via wi-fi and win pc via ethernet
Please help me on what more I can try

I've seen this a long time ago, seems SMB on the Mac was limited to the number of listings, if you Share an inner folder, does OSX show more files in that folder?
No idea if this works in 10.8, but will mention it...

Did you lose your shared folders with the update of Mac OS X from Snow Leopard to Lion? You can’t see your shared folders from your DVR or Medicaneter boxes hooked up to your TV? The internet tells you to install gigabytes of developer tools and use tons of command-line instructions to regain the ability to see your mac from your other devices in the house after moving to Lion? • Cannot access shared folders anymore....

    Hi,
We have a naughty problem at the office for accessing shared folders .
We use G5 Xserve + Xraid serving home access to 12 macs.
Our problem started when we updated all machines to 10.5.2 (nor did we have a problem with 10.5.1 or with 10.5.0).
All machines login correctly, fetch their folders with their home accesses located in the Xserve, as allways did, BUT :
·Almost all the machines running Leopard (except two) CANNOT access shared items. They get Error -5002
·The old machines running Tiger (G3 Imac's) acess shared items without problem.
So after many weeks doing multiple tests, we got the following conclusions:
    ·Problem is not server related.
·Problem si related to Leopard clients , although not in all
·Problem is not related to the machine, but with the account (accounts that can access shared items do it on any machine, and accounts that can't, don't do it on any machine)
·It seems that the trouble is related somewhat with Kerberos authentication, but it's not related to tickets (renewing them is no use)
·If we create new account with new name, it can access shared items
·If we create new account with same name that of the faulty one (renaming the later), it CANNOT access shared items.
We have got a problem in the office, and no clue of solving it.... Have read all over apple discussions over the internet, and although some people have similar issues, they are not as close as ours....
And none of the solutions proposed have solved the problem.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, cause we are starting to get desperate
    Thanks everyone.

    new update:
we are able to connect to remote shared folders with a different remote server (dual G4) from every machine
machines who can connect to local server are INTELs, the one who can't are PPCs
    makes any sense to anyone?¿

  • How do I make Outlook 2010 shared folders sync immediately?

    Dear microsoft community,
I have shared folders with a lot of collegues, where we receive mails, which we frequently access and process. A problem we have though, is that the mails that e.g. I access, do not turn up as "read" for my collegues. They still show as unread.
Is there a way that this could be sync´ed realtime?
    Thank you in advance,
    Oskar.

    Hi,
The users may have downloaded the shared folders in Outlook, this is kind of like Cached Exchange Mode & Online Mode, if we switch to "Online" it will be more "realtime".
    Check the following setting:
File -> Account Settings -> Account Settings -> Double click on the Exchange account name -> More Settings -> Advanced tab -> Untick the checkbox of "Download shared folders" -> OK.
This will abandon shared folders cache and should improve the performance in your scenario.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
