Deleting songs on my iPhone

There are two songs on my iPhone that I can not delete.  When I swipe across the song, the delete option does not become available.  Does anyone know how to remove those songs?

Hi Ms. Cox,
You can delete individual songs, artists, albums, playlists, compilations and composers from your iPhone.  Swipe over one of the items above and tap on the red DELETE button.
This information is on page 61 of the iPhone User Guide
manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Delete a song from iPhone: In Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete.
The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
I hope this information helps ...

    Hello audreywisc,
Songs can be removed from your iPhone by tapping 'Songs,' then swiping the song, then tapping Delete.
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.

  • How do I delete songs from the iPhone??

hey guys, I read that in order to delete songs from the iPhone you need to remove the songs from iTunes then re-sync it. I did that but the songs are still in the iPhone and are no longer on iTunes. Songs are all greyed out in iPhone. Please help, thanks.

    Petezta,
Select the option to "Sync only checkmarked items", and then uncheck them in iTunes.
Alternatively you can specify specific playlists to sync to the iPhone, and have the items you want to sync in those playlists.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • Playlists not deleting songs on the iphone

playlists not deleting songs on the iphone - anyone know what to do?

You could use 0 instead of 5--I also think this type of workaround is your only option.
My default rating is 2 for all songs until I've decided I don't like them or that they need to be moved up, and I only sync songs that are 2 or above (actually I generally sync the 3+ smartlist to the phone), so in my system, changing the rating to 0 would automatically get it off the phone on the next sync without me having to think about it anymore. Some variation should work with your system.
You can ask Apple for a "flag" functionality in iTunes and iPhone--I think it would be useful, too, though unlikely:

  • I can't delete songs from my iphone 6 plus

Why can't I delete songs from my IPhone 6 plus?

    Hi theresafromwheeling,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I understand that you wish to delete songs from your iPhone 6 Plus. Are you trying to do so via syncing with iTunes, or on your iPhone itself? If it is the latter, it may be as simple as swiping left on a song in the list view:
Remove a song that’s been downloaded. Swipe left, then tap Delete. The song is removed from iPhone, but remains available from iCloud.
    via http://help.apple.com/iphone/8/#/iphb8d9fd5a6
However, if you have your settings configured to show your iTunes purchases that are not currently downloaded, the song may still appear with a cloud symbol. You can adjust your settings if you wish to hide purchases that have not been downloaded:
View only music that’s downloaded. Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Under Show All, turn off Music.

  • How do I delete songs from my iphone that are not on my itunes account?

How do I delete songs from my iphone that are not on my itunes account?

You mean music that was not purchased from the iTunes Store?
If so, that means the music was transferred from your iTunes library on computer via the iTunes sync process - unless you are an iTunes Match subscriber.
Music transferred from your computer can be removed the same way - via the iTunes sync process or you should be able to delete individual songs direct from the iPhone.

  • Deleting songs from my iPhone

Hi, so I have a bit of a complicated scenario that I hope someone can help me with.
I have 8GB iPhone and a 60GB iPod. Both are sharing the same music library.
My iPod synchronizes all songs in my library (about 30gb). But I only want to have a small subset of the songs stored on my iPhone at any given time.
I had hoped to do this by only synchronizing selected playlists to the iPhone so that as songs are added or deleted from the playlist they would get deleted from the iPhone as weill.
But once I have uploaded the songs from Playlist A to the iPhone and then change some of the songs in that playlist I have discovered that the new songs are added to the iPhone.. but the removed songs are not deleted.
I really do not want to remove the songs from my iTunes library as that will cause the songs to be deleted from my iPod as well.
Is there anyway to delete songs from the iPhone without deleting from the music library?
    Thanks
    Mark

I sync by playlist and the playlist in my iphone matches the playlist in my itunes. If I delete a song from the playlist in itunes, the next time I sync the song gone from iphone as well.

  • How do you delete songs from an iphone?

How do you delete songs from an iphone 4?  Some how an album that I bought on itunes doubled the songs on my phone.

You can do this with iOS5 phones.
scroll to any song on the list you wish to delete
Swipe left or right with 1 finger
a "Delete" button in red will appear
Same with hiding purchases in your app store app, flick left or right to and tap hide to remove it from the list
    Does it work?

  • I deleted songs in my iphone on the music app but when I sync with the computer the songs disappear. How can I delete songs on my phone but keep them in iTunes?

I deleted songs in my iphone on the music app but when I sync with the computer the songs disappear. How can I delete songs on my phone but keep them in iTunes?

I use iTunes Match so I can't confirm this on my computer (my Music tab looks different), but as I recall, on the Music tab you have the option to check to sync selected playlists, artists and genres, and then check which playlists you want to sync below that.  Then, like songs, you would uncheck the playlists you don't want on your phone and sync to remove them.

How do I retrieve my deleted songs on my iPhone?
So I accidentally clicked on the "Sync Music" button in iTunes and all my songs in my iPhone music library was gone. Is there a way to retrieve them? Even if I deleted them off of my iTunes library?

If they are iTunes purchases then depending upon what country that you are in then you might be able to re-download them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes, or the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app directly on your phone.

  • I delete songs off my iPhone 5s in iTunes but they are still on my phone. How do I resolve this?

I'm simply trying to get enough space to update my 5s because of the whole thing where you're phone needs room to install an update. I deleted over 100 songs off of my iPhone while in iTunes on my computer. I decided to sync to see if it would show up, but all that did was add the apps from other people's devices in my house. Then I disconnected and my phone froze. I plugged it back in, got the apple logo and it loaded again, but still it showed 825 songs on my iPhone while according to iTunes, I have 666 songs on my iPhone. What do I do?
All I wanted was to update my iPhone but as usual, Apple makes things 10x more complicated than they need to be.

Apple isn't making this 10x more complicated you are.
If you deleted the music why are you syncing back apps from other user on your computer?
Have you tried deleting the music directly from your phone and then update over the air?

  • How do I delete songs from my iPhone 5? Every time I try, it redownloads it immediately and won't let me remove it.

My iPhone 5 says I have 659 songs in my library, which I do NOT want. I have thousands of songs in my iTunes library, and the 659 refer to songs I have specifically purchased from iTunes and not my personal collection of physical albums that I have added to iTunes. I prefer my iPod to listen to music as I find the battery life on iPhones to be absolutely terrible. These 659 songs are taking up too much memory, I never wanted them to be on the phone in the first place and never had this problem until my phone was stolen and whilst sorting out the replacement model, the songs appeared in the new phone's music folder. They're all listed with the cloud and arrow download symbol next to them, it won't let me delete them from the phone unless I have clicked the little cloud symbol and downloaded them. Once they're downloaded, it lets me swipe to delete, then the song reappears.
Oddly, when I connect my iPhone to my computer, it states I only have 59 songs on my phone and all settings are set to manually allow me to manage what songs are on my iPhone 5 - ironic, considering it doesn't let me manage them at all. Yet, whenever I try to delete a song, whether it be connected to my computer or not, it automatically re-downloads it in a matter of seconds, refusing to allow me to delete it and hogging up much needed memory. I am honesty at my wit's end with this, any help would be hugely appreciated. I have tried all options listed in discussion groups thus far and NOTHING has worked - the phone just downloads the songs again.

  • How do I delete songs & podcast from iPhone using iTunes on new MacBook Pro

I have recently bought a new MacBook Pro after years of using PC.
First thing I have to say is that I love it. I've had a couple of problems here-and-there but these have been teething issues which these discussion boards have mostly helped me resolve... I have been unable to resolve this one issue though which I was hoping that someone could help me with....
I have plugged my iPhone into my new Mac and let it appear in iTunes but when I attempt to delete old songs or podcasts from the iPhone it does not let me delete them... I've tried holding control and clicking on the items- hoping that delete would be an option, but it isn't. Also I've notice that delete is not one of my options in the edit tab at the top of iTunes.
I understand that I can delete individual podcasts and albums/songs through the iPhone itself by swiping right and selecting delete but when I do this for All individual episodes of a podcast then the main header for the "show" still remains...
Would love if someone could help me with this- need to be able to manage the songs and podcast on my iPhone.
    Thankyou for your time.

"Ok- but what if I want to manually manage the songs and podcasts on my iPhone and somehow loose access to the computer which I used to put said songs and podcasts on the iPhone in the first place?"
The you would ned to use the backup copy of tht computer to put everything on the new computer.
"  Is there a way in which I can manage/delete the content on the iPhone using my new computer without retoring it to factory settings and starting all over again?"
You do not have to restore it, but you cannot access the music at all from this other computer until you sync it, which will erase the content.
"And just to clarify: I don't have any problems with playing the content that remains on my iPhone, it's just the managing and deleting of this content."
    I understand completely.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.
