Deleting specific data points from a scatter graph

I cannot seem to figure out how to delete single points in a scatter plot to get rid of the outliers. Someone help me!

I have never used Numbers.
Can't you just delete the data on the source?
The PhD research scientist in me makes me ask you if you are justified in deleting any data points? Even apparent outliers may represent a true data sample. Likewise, how do you know one of the "good" points isn't an aberrant sample that really belongs at an extreme? I would take care of outliers by reanalyzing the sample many times until I averaged it into submission. The only outliers I would outright delete were ones where I could truly question the quality of the analysis based on other data, or it it was truly impossible (e.g., a negative number of apples growing on a tree).
One thing I would do would be make a scatter plot with one set of data and generate my line through it, then generate a second plot on the same page with the outlier data but not plot a line through it. The line would show the relationship I thought really applied but I was also up front about data I had rejected and still presented it for all to see.

  • Data Point Symbol in Line Graph  - can you change the size?

I would like to change the Data Point Symbols in line graphs - if not the actual symbol it would be wonderful to be able to change the size of the symbols provided.
At present, if there is a lot of data in the graph, the symbols are too big and crowd one another.
I know that one can reduce the line size but that doesn't change the symbol size.
    Help please.

If I understand your question, this from the Pages online help may give the answer:
To mark line, area, and scatter charts with data point symbols:
Select the entire chart. You can also select the chart series (the line or area shape) that you want to mark with data point symbols.
Click Inspector in the toolbar, and then click the Chart Inspector button.
Click Series (except for scatter charts).
Choose a symbol from the Data Point Symbol pop-up menu.
Choose one of the following options from the Symbol Fill pop-up menu:
To fill the symbol with the same color as its outline, choose Use Stroke Color.
To fill the symbol with a solid color, choose Color Fill, click the Fill color well, and pick a color.
To fill the symbol with a gradient, choose Gradient Fill and use the gradient controls to set the colors and change the angle of the gradient.
To fill the symbol with an image, choose Image Fill and select the image you want. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.
To fill the symbol with a tinted image, choose Tinted Image Fill and select the image you want. Click the color well to the right of the Choose button to change the tint color. You can also resize the image by choosing an option from the pop-up menu above the Choose button.

  • Highlighting a single data point in a scatter plot - Numbers'09

Is there a way to highlight a single data point on a scatter plot in Numbers'09 (or point to it using a line from each respective coordinate on the x & y axis).
I don't think it matters but the data point i am looking to highlight is the [highest y value/2]... and of course its respective x coordinate once you plug the y value into the equation ( y = f(x) ) and solve for x.

Here is my own tip :
As you see, I use two sets of values.
In the second one I define only the yValue of the data point which must be "highlighted".

For using archiving programme take help of basis help see firstly create programme on archiving object
PM_IMRG whcih is the object for measuring document then by ebtering this prepare the archving file run in test mode
then deletion of data with date wise reading  in test mode follwed afterwards.
you have to confirm the data before the deletion

  • Extract data point from dynamic data based on time index

My goal here is to find out what the frequency of pulses from object B is given an input to object A, and not only that, but what the frequency is at a particular moment in time.
While in this example, the DAQ Assistant reads the data and will show it nicely on a time-indexed graph, the convoluted mess above is the only solution I have thus come up with to extract a specific item from that set of data. I was/am hoping there is a more elegant solution. However, I can confirm via other sources that the data from the DAQ Assistant is incorrect, possibly/probably because the DAQ units being used are on different chassis, using different counters (I've got to work with what I've got available) and won't cooperate in the same while loop.
In this example, the data being read is correct, I cannot display the result on a graph (nothing shows up, but the autoscale of the Y axis seems to work), and the VI occasionally (but not always) ends on an Error -200474: Timeout (with the signal no longer being sent to object A, I don't expect any pulses from object B). I would like to have both the graph and the value (data point) at time index, like I was getting in example one, but the correct data, as I was getting in example two.
Code for both examples is attached.

In this example, the data being read is correct, I cannot display the result on a graph (nothing shows up, but the autoscale of the Y axis seems to work)
Check out the acquisition mode of DAQ assistant,  Its configured to 1sample (on demand) which means that graph is plotting only 1 sample (only 1 data point) which you are unable to see.  Modify the settings to acquire greater samples so that a plot can be seen on the graph or use chart to plot the points which has history with it.
The terminology "object A and B" that is used is not clear and what it is pointing to (while loop or the images itself).
The second figure there is a data dependancy between 2nd while and 1st while loop.  Try using standard LabVIEW Design patterns

  • How can I label data points in a scatter chart with text strings?

    Post Author: Bill B

I need to create a Scatter Chart, with a text label for each data point instead of the xy coordinates. A legend will no longer be necessary. Also, I want to draw "cross-hair" lines on both the x and y axes centered on one particular data point.Any ideas?

    Hi
I have the same problem here, did you find any solutions.
Here we are ok if the dimension is displayed in the scatter instead of the measurements but the only options i founds was "Show data" and that option displays the values of the xy.
pls let me know if anybody found any solution for this problem

  • Cancel or delete "Add Data Point" entry

I was trying to see what my milage was for yesterday and hit the add data point button and made an entry hoping that it would show my milage walked from yesterday which was 6.92 but instead it added that to my milage walked today doubling my total to 13.4 mi when I really only walked 6.91 mi. How can I subtract it back down to my original milage for today.
On another note I noticed a window on the health app home page that shows the route walked. How do I access that?

    Hello Sreedhar,
in general you can delete opportunities in rel 4.0. There are a few checks that could forbid it - f.e. follow up documents or status won. You should also check if you have order_save badi active. Usually you need no checks in delete mode.
    I hope that helps.

  • How to get the last data point from a TDM file in LabVIEW?

    Hello,
I am using LabVIEW to analyze some rather large TDM files, and I need a way to get only the last data point.  So far, the only way I have been able to accomplish this is by reading the entire file.  Is there a property in the TDM file or a function in LabVIEW that will allow me to get the index of the last item in a channel?
    Thanks!
    Christina

Do you want to avoid reading whole file and want to be able to reach or get the index of last value of channel? is there any specific reason? I am not sure you could do it without loading the whole file. But the easiest way would be just to use array functions "array size" would give you the index of last element.

  • How to delete the Data Points label with a crosstab layout

    Hi, just a question.
I created a report which uses a crosstab layout; so...I have the Company Name on the left, Status Code above and the Count(tickets) as Data Points.
As soon as I put the Count(tickets) inside the report, the label "Data Points: Incident Id Count appears above just at the bottom of the Status Code
Is there a way to avoid this tedious label ?
As workaround, I changed the Data Points' format heading (text and background) in such a way to see only a Grey space...but this is not so useful (from the customer side...)
I also looked for inside the crosstab layout properties...but I didn't found nothing.....
    Any help will be appreciate
    Alex

Well, I think you are out of luck. You are basically saying you want to control when you have a column heading and when you don't want to have a column heading. Most of us users do want column headings in our reports. In fact I have a hard time trying to figure out why you don't want a column heading. How are the report users going to know what the numbers in the column mean if you don't have a heading on the column? Maybe the initial users of the report know, but what happens when they leave and someone else takes over their duties? I would suggest putting in an enhancement request for Discoverer to give you the option to not display a column heading, if you really want something like this. This needs to be at the workbook level, I am thinking.

  • How can I convert 400 data points from a spreadsheet file to an array?

The spreadsheet file contains over 5000 data points (in one column) of which I only want the first 400 and want to convert them to an array in Labview. I tried to use the 'readfromspreadsheet' vi but it wasn't much help. Please tell me how i should approach this problem and what vi's to use.

I attach a model vi that you can experiment with. You will need to know the formatting of the data in your file, from there -plus the delimiter- you'll be able to estimate how many characters makes the first 400 data point. It's possible to develop a more robust vi to do this, in the mean time, the attached vi can quickly give some answer.

  • I want to free up pc disk space. Can i delete app data/files from my pc now I use iCloud??

    Hi
I have not been able to find a relevant thread, if there is one please direct me.
Sorry if my use of jargon/process is not that clear.
    I am using iCloud.
Can I, and how do I, delete app data from my laptop and keep all apps running normally and still on my ipad and ipod as they currently are?
My computer is overflowing and I see iCloud as a chance to clear some hard disk space.
If i delete the apps from my itunes browser on PC then it deletes them from my entire Itunes account. Can I just go into my itunes folder and delete the base application files?
If I remove files/apps and I sync my devices using my pc for music/video/photos etc then will it pick up that the apps and app data is missing from my pc?
    Thanks in advance
    lach

Im trying to get an answer to this same question. My poor pc is almost out of hard drive space bc of all the iphone backups pre icloud. I want to know if I go into the itunes file on my pc and delete all those files will they still be safe considering they are on icloud now? Its frustrating bc I cant seem to get an answer to this question. Have you come across any information on this issue since posting this question? Thanks so much!

Well going in point by point and deleting is certainly one way of going about it. Of course that would defeat the entire purpose of having this great programming enviroment that is capable of doing that kind of thing for us.
Is your text file small enough to upload? Obviously you know what the criteria are for judging whether or not a data point is acceptable so it should be simple enough to program. Give us a bit more information and I can assure you there will be a race between LabVIEW experts to see who can post the cleanest, simplest, and fastest piece of code that will do what you need. My wager is on altenbach, but there are a few others here that are almost as impressive.

  • Dates not recognised in scatter graphs

I have some data consisting of date-value pairs which I want to graph on what I would call an x-y graph, but which some call a scatter graph.
So I want each date plotted along the x-axis with the value up the y-axis.
However, when I create a graph, Numbers doesn't recognise the dates as dates, so uses them as discrete categories, ie with each date equally spaced across the x-axis, even though the dates themselves aren't evenly spaced.
For example, if I had dates of 1-Jan-14, 3-Jan-14, 15-Jan-14, 6-Jun-14, Numbers would space them all evenly.
The cells containing the dates are properly formatted as dates. It's only the graph that doesn't seem to pick up on the data being date-based.
I read various other threads which say this was a problem with earlier versions of Numbers 3 but was fixed (in version 3.1 IIRC). I'm using 3.2, and it's not fixed for me!
I'm a UK-based user and therefore use international date formats (as opposed to US date format). Could this be part of the problem?
    TIA
    David

    Hi David,
A Scatter Plot requires that X and Y are not in Header Columns. You can have a Header Row for the axis titles (but they don't appear as titles on the plot; not sure how to make that happen without manually entering the titles on each axis).
X values need not be evenly spaced. X axis label values will be linear and will not be categories. Nor will they line up with individual X values (which is how a Scatter Plot should behave).
Column B looks like it is a Header Column, but it isn't. That grey fill happens after clicking on Edit Data References (non-intuitive IMHO).
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Putting a data point from answers on a map

I have the dumbest report in the history of the world in obiee that shows 1 row - State, Measure and Amount.  Literally 1 row of data.  I want to show that row on a map instead of a grid.  The data is as follows.
    CA,REVENUE,1
I loaded the mvdemo data to the schema and from there on out everything went to hell.  Does anyone know what the mapviewer configuration steps are step by step both in the db, mapviewer and obiee to get this very simple feature to work?  I have never seen such complicated steps before in my life to get a data point on a map.

PS - I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.6 and with Oracle DB 11.2.0.1 on WIN2k8r264

  • Deletion of data objects from already not existed source system

    Hello, Everybody,
In BI 7 i had QASCLNT<b>500</b> source system and have been created datasource with transformation. Later QASCLNT<b>500</b> was deleted or changed (i don't know very well) to QASCLNT<b><i>300</i></b>, but old datasource with transformation is still in new system. When i try to delete these objects i get a message - "Source system QASCLNT<b>500</b> does not exist".
Could you give me a suggestion how can i delete that datasourse and transformation?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Arunas Stonys

    Hi,
It depends on your requirements whether you have to keep the history or not.
If you  delete the data from your info providers, you have to reload everything from scratch.
If you want to delete the data from all
    1. first delete the data in data targets such as cubes, DSO's or ODS then
    2. master data
use these programs to delete from se38
-> rsdrd_delete_facts - for Cubes and DSO or ODS
-> rsdmd_del_background - for master data in background
-> rsdmd_del_master_data_texts - for master data right away
manage your master data info objetcs after the deletion, if you still find them....
go to se14 and delete individually each and every table such as attributes, texts, sids, hierarchy.
    hope it helps you better.
But I dont recommend you to delete try to load full repair options for all yur loads
