Deleting Tasks

When trying to delete a task that has no reported time no resources I receive a message that this command is unable to be performed to protect actuals. However, there are resources or any actuals reported. I am currently using Microsoft Project Server 2010.
I tried doing this command in Pro as well as Server. I checked the project in and published. Actually no actuals will update the plan either.

1.Define status profile for task
SPRO>Quality Management>Quality Notifications>Notification Processing>Status Management>Define Status Profile>Maintain Status Profiles
You can create own status profile for task.
1-1.Check 'Task' for object types.
1-2.Define user status (example below)
Status-1-INIT-Initial-check 'Initial'-status change from 1 to 2
Status-2-COMP-Completed-status change from 2 to 2 then go to detail
1-3.Define transaction control for status-2-COMP
Click 'New entry'.
Check 'Allowed' and 'Set' for 'Complete Task'
Check 'Forbidd.' for 'Delete Task'
2.Assign status profile to notification type
SPRO>Quality Management>Quality Notifications>Notification Processing>Status Management>Define Status Profile>Status Profile for Notification Type
Now the user status will be assigned for new notification and you can prevent 'Delete task' for completed task.

Well obviously it is an Ant build.
It looks to just compile/build a web application into a war so you can deploy it where you want to.
You don't need to edit it every time you are making a new page. It should work for any generic struts web application laid out in the fashion it expects.

What happens when we delete task

Hi.
What happens when we delete task from the request? Does the changes get deleted?

No.. The changes wo'nt get deleted. Instead the TASK will be detached from the Request number. That means it will delete task related entries from the E070, E071... tables.
However when the next time if you save the Object it will ask for a new TASK.

I am not sure about the possibility of delete the records.If you are able to do in standard transaction then you can do the same with lsmw.Create a recording method to delete the records and this delete it.

How do i create a workflow to delete tasks.

I've created a workflow that will take the Title, Start Date, and End Date from one list (roomReserved) and then create a task on another list (centralCal) setup as a central calendar. When a yes/no checkbox is checked, it will then create the task on the
centralCal. The problem I'm having right now is i am unable to remove or delete the task created in centralCal when the checkbox is unchecked.
I way I'm trying to delete the task in the workflow is:
if current item:checkbox equals no
then delete item in centralCal
in the "Choose List Item" popup menu
I choose List:centralCal
Find the List Item:
Field: Title
Value:
Lookup for Single line of text (popup)
Data source: Current Item
Field from source: Title
Return field as: string (greyed out)
To make sure the correct item is deleted I'm comparing the titles from the roomReserved and centralCal.
What I want the workflow to do is delete the task from centralCal if the checkbox is unchecked from roomReserved. Any idea's on how to change my workflow to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I tried reproducing the issue in my environment. I created a list1 with two column: title and checkbox, a list2 with one column: title.
I created two workflows in SharePoint Designer: workflow1, if current item checkbox field equals yes, create item in list2, title= current item title. Workflow1 start automatically when an item is created.
Workflow2: if current item checkbox field equals no, delete item in list2. Choose List Item is set as below, and workflow2 starts automatically when item is changed.

Best practice for upgrading task definition without deleting task instances

best practice for upgrading task definition in production system without deleting or terminating task instances
If I try and update a task definition with task instances running I get the following error:
Task definition 'My Task - Add User' may not be modified while there are active task instances
Is there a best practice to handle this. I tried to force an update through the console but that didn't work. I tried editing the task from the debug page and got the same error.

1) Rename the original task definition.
2) Upload the new task definition with the original name.
3) Later, after all the running tasks have timed out, delete the old definition.
E.g., if your task definition is "myWorkflow":
1) Rename "myWorkflow" to "myWorkflow-old-2009-07-28"
2) Upload the new task definition as "myWorkflow".
Existing tasks will stay linked to the original (renamed) workflow definition.
New tasks will use the new definition.
As the previous poster notes, depending on the changes you are making, letting the old task definitions stay active could have bad side-effects and might be better avoided.

Cant delete task notification in Outlook 2010

In my Office we use Outlook 2010 and I assign tasks to various people. When they accept the task I receive a notification however in the last few days I have received a few notifications that I can't delete. When I select the notification in
my Inbox it says "This item cannot be displayed in the Reading Pane. Open the item to read its contents" however if I try to open it I get "Cannot open this item. The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found."
If I try to delete the task notification I get "The attempted operation failed. An object could not be found.".
I've tried running the repair function but it didn't help. How can I fix this so it doesn't happen going forward and delete these email?

The first thing you need to do is to make sure Outlook is fully patched.
Some anti-virus program may cause this issue, to verify that, please disable the firewall and anti-virus program, then start Outlook, check if the issue persists.
You can also run Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /safe” in the blank box, then press Enter.
If there’s no problem in Safe Mode, disable the suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this issue.
Note For the steps above, I suggest you test with the new notifications.
You can also try the following and check if it helps:
Click on the File menu –> Options, navigate to Advanced tab and scrolled down to Send and receive section, then click on the Send/Receive button. In the ‘Send/Receive Groups’ window, click on Edit tab. In the
‘Send/Receive Settings’ window, click to select the email account under ‘Accounts’ and then click to select the ‘Download Complete Items’ option. Make sure the option “Download only headers for items larger then” is unchecked/not selected and click on Ok.

Can't delete tasks in Reminders

I added two Exchange accounts to my iMac and it has created groups within Reminders for me to add lists into. This is great but it has also created an empty list within each group that is called 'Tasks'. I am unable to either delete or rename these lists in each group.

The names come from the Exchange Server, change them there (assuming your IT dept will allow that)
By 'browser' I'm assuming you mean the iCloud website. This only shows lists in my iCloud group and not the two Exchange groups that were auto created.
The website referred to by The bestplacehere is not the iCloud website, it is your Exchange website. iCloud only show iCloud calendars and subscriptions, likewise the Exchange website will only show the Exchange Calendars and tasks, plus subscriptions.

Deleting task in Gantt chart - TaskId = 0

In SAP Gantt Chart, you can record how much %age of an activity is completed but you can not get refelction of the same in Gantt chart. However you can see the actual dates of confirmation on Gantt chart by suitable selection of dates you want to view.
SAP Gantt chart do not have this functionality like other project planning softwares.

How to delete task in serviceorder with release ECC6

we just migrated to ECC6 from 4.7 but now I got a strange problem when a user wants to delete a task from a serviceorder.
it gives a yellow warning saying that I get a warning before delete.
I press enter
I select Yes
and then I get a shortdump
A RAISE statement in the program "SAPLCOBO" raised the exception
condition "WRONG_VBKZ".
anybody got a clue how to resolve this ?

Programmatically deleting task using the TaskService

I was trying to programmatically delete a task (logical delete) using the task service, but it states a security issue concernig the permitted actions of the user who creates the context. does anybody knows which is the recommended solution in order to handle this problem?

If you authenticate as the admin user (weblogic) you should be able to perform the delete operation. The API allows you to authenticate as the admin in one context, then construct a user context on behalf of a normal user and act as that user. The context being used for the call must have the appropriate permissions to perform the delete.

MDT 2010 Deleted task still running

Hi Guys, I have been using MDT 2010 with Litetouch for deploying Windows 7 x64 clents for the last month. I have a main task sequence which does the deployment and a test task sequence for me to try new things out.
On the test task sequence I created custom task which deletes a desktop icon, the problem now is that even after I have deleted this task it still runs even though its not in the task sequence any longer.
Even when I create a new task sequence the deleted custom task still runs! This is very strange any ideas?

it sounds impossible :)
I think the same action might have been configured in another step, or it might be added as a dependency on some application.
To verify, you could take a look at the xml files that descrive your applications and taks sequences in .\control.

DELETE TASK STATUS in TABLE

Hi Gurus,
If I delete notification task those tasks status is not showing delete status in jest table.Due to thiswhen we want to execut the transaction( client Development) for all notification having open task then these delete notification tasks appears in the report.
My reqirement is that when a notification task gets deleted where i get the delete status for task.

Hi,
If you don't want to diplay the notificaitons for which the tasks have been set for deletion here is the procedure to follow.
1. Create a status profile with the status DLFL.
2. Create a selection profile and assign the above status profile with the status DLFL as NOT.
3. While running the transaction QM13 run with the above seleciton profile. This will select all the notifications except the notificaitons for which the tasks have been deleted.
