Deleting templates

Can you delete a custom template in Pages?

I apologize but if you saved custom templates thru the "Save as template" menu item yo have the described folder.
A simple search with the Finder's search tool (cmd + f) would reveal them.
Of course, as the Choose a Template dialog give you the names of your custom templates, you may use one of these names in a search.
Last not least, you may search the templates given their name extension ".template"
No nead to rant. In the French version the templates are stored in
Application Support:Pages:Modèles:Mes Modèles.
Oops, I forgot, when I answer, I always assume that the asker has a brain and is able to use it.

  • How to rename/delete templates in Pages 5.0?

Newbie to Pages here... made the jump when I upgraded to Mavericks.  I've found the old solution of going to Library>Application Support>iWork for previous versions of Pages to rename or delete templates, but that solution does not work in Mavericks and/or Pages 5.0.  There simply is not a folder there for iWork now.
    Anyone figure this out yet?

In your Library there's a folder called Containers and in there you'll find a container called  com.apple.iWork.Pages and a similar package for Numbers and Keynote after you've run them. Open the package (right click and select Show Package contents) and then Open the Data folder. Inside there you'll find a Library folder, open it and then open the Application Support folder and then User Templates. (Don't ask how I found it)
Lots of the templates I just trashed either because I never use them or I knew they wouldn't translate well. (Any that used linked textboxes are toast.) That left me with a group that were too old to open in the new version of Pages. I opened them with Pages '09 and resaved them as templates and that took care of it.

  • How do you delete templates in Pages?

How do you delete templates in Pages?

    Hi Lilly,
If you mean "My Templates" they are in a hidden folder.
In Finder, open the Go menu and hold down the option key (alt) in order to see the user library folder.
Open the library folder and navigate to:
    Library/Application Support/iWork/Pages/Templates/My Templates.
Select a template then drag it to the Trash (or command-delete).
Having gone to all that trouble to find that hidden folder, single click to select My Templates folder, then
Menu > File > Make Alias
An Alias folder appears. Rename it to something such as "My Templates Pages alias" then drag it out of My Templates folder to somewhere convenient (maybe the Desktop will do for now).
You can now close all those folders that you navigated through because the Alias (double click on it) is a quick way to go there again.
Repeat this process for other iWork apps such as Numbers.
Another way to manage your templates is to open one, make changes, then Save As Template with the original name of that template. The new template will replace the old one.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Deleting Templates from Numbers

Is it possible to edit or delete templates from My Template Chooser in Numbers?

You will navigate to a folder where your custom templates are kept, select and Delete the template.
In Finder, click on the Go menu (top line). While the Go menu items are displayed, press the Option/Alt key. This will reveal a normally hidden choice, "Library", about half way down the list. Choose this item.
A Finder window will open and you will then choose this path:
Application Support > iWork > Numbers > Templates > My Templates.
Identify your template and delete it (Move to Trash).

  • How do I delete templates in pages

how do I delete templates thatI have created in pages

    Hi phase one,
Same way you delete any other file: Locate the file, select it, then do one of three things:
    Drag it to the Trash,
Go File > Move to Trash
    Press command-delete.
With Templates, the tricky part is the first step: Locate the file.
    In the Finder:
Press and hold the option (alt) key as you go to the Go menu and select Library.
From Library, open each of these folders in turm:
Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates.
Select the template file(s) you wish to remove, and move them to the Trash using one of the three methods above,
    Regards,
    Barry
PS: Files moved to the Trash can still be recovered by drgging them out of the Trash. They're not actually removed until you Empty the Trash, an item found in the Finder's Application menu (named Finder).

  • How does one rename or even delete templates in Pages?

How does one rename or even delete templates in Pages?

At the top of this page, click on your name or avatar to go to your profile page. You need to have more than one product listed in My Products and the one you need to edit can't be set as the default. So, add a product if you only have one & set this second as default. Then back to your profile page where you can edit the settings, including your OS version. Then back again to set this one as default. This is just one of many, many things that the current forum software makes very difficult. I have to go "hunting" for the setting each time, it's that difficult. If I were invited to test changes or a new version, this is one thing I'd mention.

  • How to enabled "Preview Template" and/or "Delete Template"

    Hello All,
I am trying to preview a standard XML Template but it is greyed out. When i take my mouse over it.. It says "Preview Template Disabled". It says "Delete Template disabled" when i move my mouse over Delete..
How do i enable these features so i can modify my template?
    Regards,
    Venkat

    hi
it will work,if every thing is associated properly.
If you uploaded a preview data file for your data definition, the Preview feature will merge this data file with the selected template to allow you to immediately view a sample of the report within the Template Manager.
the only thing you need to preview is sample data in Data Definition
    IN DATA DEFINITION
-->in "Preview Data" upload a sample xml file
    IN TEMPLATES
    -->select the corresponding template
    -->select the "Preview Format"
    -->then preview
    thanks

  • Can't find a way to delete Templates from the "My Templates" window in Pages.

How can I delete Templates from the "My Templates" window in Pages?

If you want to delete user-made templates, go to ~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Pages/Templates and you'll find the individual files that you can just delete.
If you want to delete iWork's own templates, that's a bit trickier.  Right-click (or Control-Click) on the Pages application, choose Show Contents.  Drill down to Resources and Templates and there they are.  I'm not sure I'd delete anything from the application package, however, so my advice would be to copy the app and try it on that to make sure it doesn't foul anything else up.
    Good luck.

  • How do I delete templates I have made in error in IBA?

Hi, I am try to write a book and in trying to standardise Sections made templates.  How do I these delete templates I have made in error in IBA?

Use iBA's menu for 'File/Save As Template'...when that dialog opens, make a note of the location/path, which begins in the /Library folder and ends in /My Templates.
In the Finder, use the 'Go To' menu with the option key pressed and choose /Library from there...drill down to the iBA 'MyTemplates' folder, find the template you want to delete and drag it to the trash.
    Good luck.

  • How do I delete templates in pages09

How do I delete templates that I created and now would like to delete stored in Pages 09
    Thank you
    beverlyfromjackson

In Finder, navigate to your user’s Library -> Application Support -> iWork -> Pages -> Templates folder. Then select the templates you want to remove and delete them. My recommendation though is if you want to archive them create a folder in your Documents folder for them and move them there, that way if you ever need them again you can easily move them back.

  • How can I delete templates on numbers?

First visit to Apple Support Communities - I have downloaded data from financial institution which includes the date formated, for example, Nov 6, 2012 after the spread sheet is opened with Numbers.  Using the inspector > cell > date > format "01/05/09 " , the cells in the spread sheet with the dates all become "01/05/09" . . .  and not "11/06/12".
I am concerned that I have set up a bad templete dictating this erroneous result and would like to delete the templete.  Please advise on this point.
Any other suggestions would be welcomed.

    Hi papa T,
I doubt that a 'bad template' is the cause of this strange issue.
Leaving that aside, here is the path to deleting templates that you have created and saved:
Close Numbers. Go to the Finder.
In the Finder, press the option key, go to the Go menu and choose Library.
This puts you in your user Library—note that OS X maintains several Libraries, one for itself and one for each user account on the computer.
    From your Library, open:
Application Support > iWork > Numbers > Templates > My Templates.
In My Templates, select one or more templates, then press command-delete to move the selected templates to the Trash.
Empty the Trash to permanently delete these templates (and anything else that has been moved to the Trash).
    Regards,
    Barry

    Hi
Note that in Lion OS, the User Library is hidden by default.
Use the Finder:Go Menu (hold down Option to add the User Library to the menu).

  • How can I delete templates from MY TEMPLATES in Pages?

How can I delete templates from MY TEMPLATES i Pages?

Pages stores those you created & saved as templates in (your account) > Library > Application Support > iWork > Pages > Templates > My Templates. The user's Library is hidden in Lion & Mountain Lion but it is easy to open. In Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu & your user Library will appear about halfway down the list. Or you can choose Go to Folder from Go menu in Finder & paste this line in the box:
    ~/Library/Application Support/iWork/Numbers/Templates/My Templates/
