Deleting Things

All right i've finally given up and decided i need help.
Saved all my music to an external hard drive, got a new computer, new itunes and transfered all my songs.
But the stupid ******* itunes on my computer keeps deleting it everytime. I'll up load it, put it all on my ipod then shut down the computer, then the next day when i go to look at it, it's gone.
It doesn't delete it from the computer, just the library and i've tried all different methods to put it on the library but it makes no difference, it just keeps deleting it all.
I'm at the end of my rope. Can anyone help me. PLEASE!!!

Do you by any chance have a Sony Vaio?
There is a problem with media management software Vaio xml library Manager, the Vaio content manager and the Vaio Music Box software

In Control Panel, turn off Vaio Content Folder Watcher and VAIO Content Metadata Intelligent Analyzing Manager.

  • TS4036 how can I view backed up files and delete things I don't need

how do I view backed up files and delete thing I don't need

You can't view individual files contained in the backup.  You can control which apps are backed up, and whether or not the camera roll is included in the backup, by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tapping the name of your device under Backups, then looking under Backup Options.

  • Had to remove itunes from my computer to reset the computer. Now I'm having problems syncing my iphone with the computer. Computer is saying it wants to download updates to the phone but that will delete things I downloaded straight from the phone. Help!

Had to remove itunes from my computer to reset the computer. Now I'm having problems syncing my iphone with the computer. Computer is saying it wants to download updates to the phone but that will delete things I downloaded straight from the phone. Help!

iTunes thinks you have a new computer because you restored the OS. Open iTunes and authorize it to the same account you have on the iPhone. Did you restore your iTunes content from a backup after resetting your computer? Have you been syncing regularly with the computer, and does the iTunes library on the computer contain your apps, music and videos? If so just sync and your content will be removed then restored.
If you have not hopefully you have now learned something. You can recover apps and purchased songs by connecting the phone, without syncing, and choose "Transfer purchases..." from the File menu.

  • HT4847 How do I delete things from my iCloud?

Hello, everyone! I need some help, okay so, my iPhone has been acting up lately, I am no longer receiving iMessages, it says it cannot connect to iTunes and YouTube, and I no longer receive push notifications from any of my apps. i figured it is because i need to update the iOS5 for my phone, but I'm not sure. To update the iOS5, i need to backup my phone, which i can't do because my iCloud is full, i was wondering how do you delete things from the iCloud? I have already went through and deleted a great number of pictures from my phone and also apps that i was no longer using. I don't want to lose anything from my phone, but i'm not sure if my iCloud has everything backed-up? Also, could that be the reason to why my phone has been acting up? or could something else be wrong? PLEASE HELP!

General advice on "slimming" down your device's storage:
You'd have to go into the various apps on a device that is also stored on iCloud and begin trimming files.
    Backups:
Go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backups>Manage Storage; there, tap the device you need info on and the resulting screen lists Backup Options with which apps store data on iCloud.  Turn off camera roll and any other apps that might have a lot of data.  Then delete the backup.  That will free up space.  Photos should be regularly synced to a computer (like you store photos from a digital camera) using either USB via iTunes (on a mac use iPhoto or Aperture to move them to an album) or using photo stream. Go to Settings>iCloud and turn
    Emails:
Regarding emails, on the computer, move emails from mailboxes in icloud to those on the device.  That can also save a lot of space.

  • HT4910 How do I delete things from iCloud?

I want o delete things from the cloud and do not knw where to go or what to do

What things do you want to delete?  For example, to delete a backup, you need to go to Settings>icloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the device name, then on the resulting screen, tap Delete Backup.
It all depends on what you want to delete - different things require different operations.

  • Deleting things on iCloud

I'm sure this has been asked many times but if i delete things on a device will it delete from every device i synced icloud with my new iphone and have a bunch of notes i want to delete on the phone but keep on my iPod.. How exactly does it work

When you delete data on your device that you are syncing with iCloud it will be deleted from every device syncing with the same iCloud account.  That's what iCloud does, sync changes made on one device to all others on the same account.

  • I have a macbook air late 2010 and keep getting a warning that my hard drive is full and to delete things so I purchased a external hard drive (1TB) but I'm just not sure what the correct way to transfer and store files to the external drive is. First MAC

I purchased a macbook air about 5 months ago and lately i keep recieving a warning that the hard drive or disk is full and that I will need to move items to trash in order to free up space on it. I purchased a external hard drive 1 TB but I'm very new to mac and ios and unsure as to how I'm suppose to transfer my files (video, pics, music etc.) from my mac over to the external hard drive in the correct way so I won't end up deleting them permenately or screwing anything up with my mac as far as the applications and programs being able to run. Am I supposed to just copy to the external hard drive and then move to and empty the trash? That's pretty much all I could come up with, but then what if i need or want to access that file again at a later time. Also, I have an i Phone and i pad so with i cloud it automatically syncs all my purcheses and if i delete something from itunes on my mac it deletes from my ipad.
I'd appreciate any kind of input i think im just a little lost here. I have to say i love my Mac and wouldn't trade it for anything (except maybe a macbook pro w/more memory)... Is there something I'm missing???

To free up hard drive space the best bet is to move data files that you don't need access to all the time. Likely candidates are music, video, and photos. Things like word processing and spreadsheet files can also be moved but they tend not to be very large and so don't free up much space. The problem with moving the above mentioned files is that iTunes and iPhoto need to know where the files are stored.
Here's an article explaining how to move the iTunes folder. You can move the iPhoto library using the Finder but there is a slight complication. Start iPhoto, open the Preferences and click on the Advanced tab. The first option is "Copy items to the iPhoto Library". If this option is checked, copy the iPhoto library to your external folder (drag it from the Pictures folder to your external drive) and then delete it from your Picture folder. If this option is not checked, it is a bit more complicated and we'll need to talk a bit.
